— Ten Months Earlier —

"Hey, redneck, what's up?" I asked of my very best friend, AJ Styles, over a phone call. We were currently in two different places. I'm in Florida working under NXT while he's in the big leagues of the main roster. We called each other as much as we could, though.

"Hey, Britt," he said in a down and depressing tone. It's not one I'm familiar with when it comes to him. "Do you, maybe, got a minute to talk?"

I was currently at my apartment in Orlando, Florida, so I took a seat on my bed and felt fear enter my body. What was going on with him? "Yeah, of course. What's up? Are you alright?"

I heard him sigh and then answer, "Technically, I'm not, no. It's bad, Britt."

Oh, God. "Well, hey, you can tell me," I reminded him, trying to make my heart calm down in my chest. "You can tell me anything. What's going on, AJ?"

"It's horrible," he simply said and I heard him whimper afterwards. "I'm sorry. I'm just... Oh, God."

"Alan Jones, you better tell me what the fuck is going on right now or I'm going to hop on a flight and go where you are right now," I threatened, already hopping up and contemplate getting my stuff together. Suddenly, there's a knock at my door. "Hold on, AJ, somebody's at the door." I pressed my phone against my chest to avoid further conversation for the time-being.

I opened my door and was immediately greeted by somebody wrapping their warm and welcoming embrace around me. After a few seconds, I realized who the stranger was. It was AJ, himself, and in person.

"AJ," I breathed out his name and wrapped my arms around him the best I could. "What are you doing here?"

He began to whimper and actually cry on my shoulder, and I felt like I just couldn't do a damn thing to stop it at this point. I patted and rubbed his back as my attempt to sooth his pain. Nothing would help his broken heart, though. Not even me, admittedly.

I found out only a minute later that his wife of twenty long years had sent him the divorce papers for him to sign. She couldn't take it anymore with him always on the road. And no matter what he told and promised her, she wouldn't take him back, either.

— Present Day, Later That Night —

I watched as AJ twirled his old wedding ring around his finger. He's done that every day since the divorce, like it would make his wife come back. Nothing, unfortunately, would make her come back.

"AJ, Eliza," I perched my head up to see a man standing in the doorway of our locker room. "You guys are up for your entrance next."

"Alright, thanks," I went ahead and thanked the man, standing up. I sneaked a quick peek at my attire to make sure it looked good (see picture above). AJ stood up also, suddenly taking off his wedding ring and placing it gently in his backpack he always travels with. "What? No wedding ring today?" He always hid it underneath his gloves, so he wouldn't actually have to take it off.

He shook his head and held a flatline smirk on his face. "No, Britt, I think I'm going to try something new tonight and put it away for a while," he admitted and gulped afterwards.

I felt so bad for him. I have been for the past year, really, although my feelings were strong for him. They've been strong for the past fourteen years, ever since I first met him. Then again, he was married back then and I knew I couldn't have him, even if I tried.

"Well, let's try to go out there and have a good time," I tried cheering him up, but it was kind of a bad attempt to do so. I placed my hand on his shoulder and smiled up at him. "You've got this, AJ."

With that said, he actually smiled back at me and we headed towards the curtains to do our entrance together. I felt all the nerves heading to the curtain with AJ and it was mostly because, despite last night at WrestleMania, this is the next chapter in the evolution of AJ Styles and Eliza London. If only it was the start to something new.

"Ready, guys?" The music director asked of us and we both nodded. I seen him click a button and AJ's theme began playing. Of course, however, he always waits a few seconds before heading out there.

He threw up the hoodie part of his vest over his head and this only reminded me to get one like his, so we could match for future events. So, then, AJ headed out first and did his normal pose and I walked out behind him, holding my arms up to pose behind him.

No, they don't want none...
No, they don't want none...
They looking scared, no, they don't really want none...

When the lights came up, so did AJ as he pulled out his arms like an angel spreading their wings. I walked up behind him, placing my arm on his shoulder, smiled and gazed all around at the WWE Universe.

"Introducing their opponent... Being accompanied to the ring by Eliza London – from Gainesville, Georgia – AJ Styles!" Lilian Garcia announced his name, alongside mine.

Everyone exploded in cheers when they seen AJ, but even if he were heel or a face – they would always cheer him. He's just that damn good that you just have to pay attention to him and everything he does.

AJ began walking down the ramp and I was hot on his trail. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho were already in the ring while we were just now waiting on Cesaro's big return back to the ring.

AJ slipped into the ring as well as I did, too, and we posed for the WWE Universe, earning another big pop. I was definitely advertising my old Bullet Club attire that I used to wear back in NJPW and ROH. The crowd was just eating this right up. Perfect, which means everything is going as planned.

Cesaro's loud music hit the speakers and the crowd nearly threw up their lungs screaming for his return back to sports entertainment. It was good that he got to come back from such an injury like he had.

I patted AJ's shoulder and whispered to him in his ear: "Good luck." Then, when Cesaro made his way down to the ring, I went ahead and got out before shit would hit the fan.

Then, before I knew it, the bell rang and signaled the start of the match. Right off the bat, they all started going at one another. AJ's former tag-team partner and friend, whom is faced last night at WrestleMania in a losing effort, was in that ring with him, too. That would be, of course, Chris Jericho.

After about fifteen minutes of the match going on and myself standing outside, Kevin Owens came over to where I was standing while holding AJ's hair and hitting his back.

Cause a distraction, Shane's words echoed through my head from before after I told him that AJ agreed. I glanced up at the referee, whom was busy trying to separate Cesaro and Jericho in the ring. So I took it upon myself to hurry and get Kevin off of AJ.

I pulled him off quickly and he nearly backhanded me until he seen it was just me. "What are you doing?!" Kevin screamed at me and took big steps towards me. I kept backing up until AJ came up behind him and hit him.

Once they were back in the ring, AJ practically tossed Kevin to the side and started working on Jericho again. Somehow, AJ got on the top rope and elbowed Jericho right in the mouth. He goes for the cover on him and the ref began to count.

"One! Two! Three!"

I jumped up and cheered at his win to be number one contender for the championship. "And your winner and the new number one contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship... AJ STYLES!"

I met AJ outside the ring going up the ramp as we celebrated his big win. I held onto his arm and had to practically drag him up the ramp all the way up the stage while the crowd went crazy. My heart was going ninety to nothing and by the way he looked, I knew his had to be going like mine, too, but probably worse.

We ended up backstage and a lot of people were there to cheer for him once we came through the curtains. They patted him on the back and congratulated him.

Once we made it through everyone and before he could slip into the showers, he paused at the doorway to catch his breathe and ten he said to me: "We should go out after I get out of the shower to celebrate."

I was kind of taken back by this, but wasn't that shocked. We always went out with each other after shows within the past few months, so tonight shouldn't be any different, except for the fact that we're going to celebrate, that's all.

"Oh, yeah?" I smiled, feeling the heat hit my cheeks with an impact. "What are you suggesting we go?"

"Dinner," AJ replied with a huge smile and playfully hit my arm. "Just for my girl and me."

With that said, I agreed with a nod and let him go take a shower while I headed to the women's locker room so that I could change, myself. Walking down that empty hallway after leaving AJ, I felt all the sparks and everything. He could always be the one to light up my whole entire day and make the night worth taking on.

I wanted to be his real girl. Ever since I first met him in Ring of Honor fourteen years ago this year. My feelings for him were undeniable.
