There used to be a myth that if you throw one on the ground, they will lead you to the ghost room. This is not true, but they are infamous for their freaking out when you throw them on the ground (which I believe has been fixed). Basically, due to their strangely shaped hit box, if you threw them on the ground and the game didn't like it, they would fly all over the place and sometimes straight up into the sky forever.
