Training gone south
The Fenton parents parked the ship near the mechanics and took the Ectotastic inside. They immediately started talking with the yetis there and explained in more detail everything about it.
The rest of the group stayed outside awkwardly talking to each other.
Fenton grabbed a handful of snow from the ground and splashed his face with it. He shivered but was quickly feeling hot again.
Frostbite approached him. "Are you alright?"
Fenton nodded but was interrupted by Phantom. "No, he isn't. A while back, I had an attack as my body tried to get used to being apart. I'm guessing this is kinda what is happening with him."
Fenton waved his hand. "No. It's probably just the new powers acting up."
"New powers?" Frostbite was interested. "What are these new powers?"
Fenton counted on his fingers. "My eyesight and hearing increased. I can manipulate ectoplasm much better than before. I can feel the ectoplasm from far away."
Frostbite hummed. "That is very interesting. Have you good control over them?" He smiled when Fenton hesitated. "What do you say we relive old times?"
Fenton grimaced. "I don't think your people would appreciate that."
"Oh do not worry. They enjoyed the show. Us yetis need some action once in a while."
After some convincing from Sam, Tucker and Phantom, he accepted and everyone made their way to the arena.
The news spread quickly and by the time they got to the arena it was almost full. Fenton's friends quickly sat down on the empty seats before they could be claimed.
"Yeah!" Richard waved his hands from where he was sitting. "Get 'em Danny. Kick those yeti butts!"
"They're not dueling, Richard." Kim rolled her eyes. "They're training."
"Oh." Richard paused. Then he shouted out again. "You go, Danny! Train the heck out of 'em."
Fenton wiped some sweat from his forehead as he made his way to the middle of the arena next to Frostbite, who would again train him.
Frostbite clapped his paws. "Let us begin. Even though I have not sufficient knowledge on your new powers, I will help as much as I can."
"Thanks, Frostbite," Fenton wiped his palms on his pants, wishing he could just roll them up. "But don't tell me to stop sweating because I can't."
Frostbite laughed. "Try something else then. Start small. You said you can feel the ectoenergy. Close your eyes and concentrate."
The boy did as he was told and spread his awareness over the arena and farther. He could feel every yeti sitting around them. He heard Frostbite's voice talk to him. It was clearer than before.
"Look as far as you can. Find your limits."
He did and Fenton gasped at all he could feel. He could see everything at once. The whole iceland. The surrounding lairs. He saw the Ghost Writer's library a little ways off and made a mental note to avoid it.
Suddenly something close to him moved fast. It flew straight at him. Out of pure reflex Fenton brought his forearm up and felt something hit it. It was soft and cooled his arm for a second.
Fenton blinked his eyes open and saw that Frostbite had thrown a snowball at him.
"Good good." Frostbite ignored Fenton's glare as he praised him. "Your reflexes are in working order. Let us try that again. But this time either counterattack or dodge. If that had been an icicle it would have impaled your arm."
Fenton nodded and closed his eyes. He saw Frostbite's every particle move and suddenly a punch flew his way.
Fenton ducked and threw his own punch at the yeti's exposed belly.
Frostbite stumbled back and grinned at the boy, who still had his eyes closed. "Excellent. However, remember to keep an eye on your surroundings."
Before Fenton could react, he was hit in the back with something hard. He grunted but stood up quickly. He was about to open his eyes when they were iced closed.
"No, Great One. No peeking. You must master this skill."
"Ugh." Fenton groaned. He could melt the ice but he wanted to do this well. He turned his head to the other yeti standing behind him.
He grinned, recognizing her. "Snowstorm."
"Got you good, did I not, Great One?" Snowstorm grinned.
"Just you wait."
He quickly spread his focus to find a few more entering the arena.
He slowly crouched, balling his fists. He heard Richard whisper excitedly: "Told you so."
Dash did his best to contain his fanboying when he recognized Fenton's position. "This is gonna get good."
A yeti charged at the boy in the middle of the arena. Fenton turned to him and changed his stance. He saw an ice blast be charged and dodged it, sending back a blast of his own.
He lost his focus on the others and didn't feel the yeti right behind him.
Fenton lost his breath as he was punched in the side. He rolled and scrambled up. He scanned his surroundings for any other threats and barely stopped Frostbite's icy arm.
Frostbite grunted when he tried to escape from the grip of ectoplasm Fenton had on his arm. He smiled. "You are using your other powers. Good. Do not forget to widen your vision. Do not put your focus only on the thing in front of you."
Fenton went intangible and an ice blast passed him, colliding against Frostbite. He let the ectoenergy around the yeti's arm loosen so that he was thrown back. "Thanks for the warning," Fenton said smugly.
Then he changed to offense and charged at the yeti that had thrown the ice blast.
Snowstorm smiled when Fenton send a few blasts her way. She held up a shield and the ectoblasts exploded against it.
Suddenly her paws were lifted off the ground. She gasped when the ectoplasm hardened, gripping her tight, and throwing her away.
Fenton smiled as the adrenaline really started kicking in. The arena was cheering as the yeti's attacked the boy and he counterattacked.
Sam smiled. "He's really getting the hang of it."
Tucker meanwhile, was yelling at the top of his lungs. "Yeah!! Nice one. Go Fenton!!! Punch him till he's down. On your right! Left! Watch out!!"
Fenton flew up and a few ice blast pierced the spot he had previously been occupying. He swirled around and threw his own blast. Not made out of ice, because he didn't have a core at the moment, but that wasn't about to hold him back. The ectoblast twisted and turned even as it flew straight toward the yeti.
The large bear barely had time to dodge and the blast struck the ground. Everyone's eyes widened when a small tornado swept the ground for a few moments before dissipating.
Frostbite grinned. He is learning fast.
Fenton paused in shock. He had felt the air swirl around in a whirlpool. Had he done that? That- that was awesome. Let's try that again.
Before he could do anything something struck him from behind and he crashed on the ground. Immediately ice was shot at him but Fenton already had a shield up.
The shield was encased and froze over, trapping the boy inside. Fenton frowned, sensing the tension on his shield. He had to find a way out.
He could just phaze through but Fenton was feeling dramatic so he instead built up a tornado and flew out in an explosion. You know, like any other kid.
Now that he had the hang of it, Fenton let the tornado grow and sent it to a few yetis. The were flown out before it died down.
Fenton panted. That was hard to control. Suddenly he had an idea. The goop he'd made back at Technus'.
Suddenly the snow under him pushed him up, interrupting his thoughts. Fenton was thrown around by a giant pile of snow until he realized he could just go intangible.
So he phazed through, faced the snow and blasted at it.
The energy blast was much bigger than he had expected and the offending object was incinerated.
Fenton bit his lip and made a mental note to bring it down a notch. He flew down and send a pile of ectogoop to trap Snowstorm to the ground.
He floated right above her and threw sparkles at her struggling face. He grinned, imagining her expression even though he couldn't see it. "Congrats. You just got gooped!"
Snowstorm gave him a wink before freezing it over and broke through. She charged but the teen dodged her.
He yelped when something hit his side and he did a few flips in the air that probably looked awesome but were in no way intentional.
He plopped on the ground and quickly scrambled up with a mouthful of snow. He heard laughter as he spit it out, accidentally choking on it. He automatically swallowed.
He shivered. He wanted to be cold but not on the inside.
Fenton paused. Or did he. He suddenly felt the great need for cold. He faceplanted on the ground and held a pile of snow close to him.
He shivered. He had thought the feeling was gone. But it had just worsened. The adrenaline hadn't let him realize how bad it was getting. His skin was clammy and his hair stuck to his head.
Fenton grunted and twitched. Something was wrong. Something was very wrong.
Frostbite paused mid throw. What was happening to the Great One.
The ghosts and humans in the stands murmured questions to each other.
Mikey bit his lip. "Guys? I think Danny's in trouble."
Danny cringed in on himself and the air around him swirled madly.
"You think?!" Sam retorted. "What is ha-" Her eyes widened. "Wait. This is what happened to Phantom before!"
Andrew frowned. "Wait what happened."
"His body is reacting to being apart." Tucker squinted at Fenton's struggling form. "It should be over sooner or later."
"It better be sooner." Andrew paled. "He's building up a storm."
Before the knew it something huge was forming around Fenton. And it didn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.
"Get out of here!!" Sheldon screamed and scrambled his way past others and out of reach of the storm.
"We can't leave him there!!" Pauline yelled.
Andrew looked at Fenton panicked. "There's no way to approach him right now."
The yetis around them ran for cover too. They made shields of ice over the stands here and there to buy everyone enough time to get to safety.
Valerie searched around. Face creased in worry. "Where's Danny! Phantom!!"
Fenton hugged his stomach as his body shook. He didn't know whether he was freezing or overheating. All he knew was the pain. And the shocks. He cried out as another shock coursed through his body. The ice that had been covering his eyes were long gone but his eyes were kept shut tight.
He could feel so much. And yet he felt nothing at all.
Energy. There was energy everywhere. He didn't know what it was doing or where it was going but he knew it came from him.
He cried out again and rolled over in pain.
He couldn't seem to get enough air in his lungs.
Then faintly...a voice.
His voice.
"Danny!"
It was his own voice, calling to him. Was he hallucinating?
His body stopped sending shocks of pain through his body and allowed him some rest. Everything was sore and aching.
"It's ok. I know it hurts. Take some deep breaths!"
The voice was calming but there was an underlying tone of fear.
Fenton took a peek. All he saw was green.
Suddenly something big pounded the ground right next to him and Fenton's eyes snapped open with a gasp. He scrambled backwards as he tried to understand what that thing was next to him.
A paw. Or some green swirling mush that had a small resemblance to a paw.
It lifted and Fenton watched wide eyed as it was about to trample on him when he was yerked out of the way. Somebody lifted him up and Fenton was able to make out Phantom before his attention was back to the giant thing in the middle of the arena.
It was stumbling like a drunken big mass of ectoplasm. It kind of looked like a dog.
Fenton watched as it the thing took a step and crashed a few stands. "And to think I was a dog person."
"Well you did make it."
"What?!" Fenton stared at the giant thing. It opened its mouth as if trying to roar. Nothing came out but it wasn't needed as the crazed up mass of energy it was made out of was already splitting Fenton's head. "No no no no," he muttered as he scrunched his eyes shut. This couldn't be happening. First the physical, now his powers are turning evil.
"Fenton?" Phantom patted the other's back, trying to get his attention. "You ok over there?" He didn't get an answer and he knew something was wrong. He quickly ducked behind an ice wall and put his other half on the ground.
Fenton didn't move and kept his eyes shut.
Phantom shook him a bit. "Fenton. Open your eyes."
The other refused, opting to keep muttering words under his breath in panic.
Phantom frowned and patted his shoulder. "Fenton. Open your eyes, right now. Common." When the other didn't respond he got more frustrated. "Fenton. Look at me. Danny!!"
Fenton's eyes snapped open and he stared at the fiery boy in front of him. It took a moment for something to come out of his mouth but what did, didn't make Phantom any happier. "It..it's happening."
There was a loud crash.
"I did this. It's my fault. Everyone's in danger. First you. Now the powers."
"Fenton!! Stop it!" Phantom was tired of this. He was ending this way of thinking right now. "Look at me. Look at me, Fenton. Tell me, what's wrong with me. What is wrong with my look now."
Fenton stuttered confused. "It- it looks like Dan-"
"So?!?" Phantom asked. "So what. If we hadn't known anything about Dan, this would have happened either way and we would have accepted it. Nothing has changed about us, man. If you died your hair pink and wore yellow eye contacts nothing will have changed on the inside. You will still be a stubborn overprotective idiot. It doesn't change anything."
Fenton was quiet for a moment and Phantom let him take it all in. Then he slowly pointed to the giant ecto monster rampaging a few meters away from them and their emotional breakdown. "But that thing.."
"Dan didn't have those powers, did he. What happened out there was your body trying to become half ghost. It happened to me too. But I don't have any powers that can go awol at the moment." Phantom's expression softened. "That pain. It's because we are apart. We need each other. We are one. You have to accept me as I am. Accept yourself. Who knows, maybe in a few months my ears will get pointy or my voice will be like his. Heck, maybe we will even get red eyes! But that doesn't matter because we decide who we are."
Fenton shut his mouth and stared at the panting teen. He saw the desperation in the other's eyes. Fenton's paranoia was affecting him too.
Neither moved when the earth trembled and shouts were heard from outside their hiding spot. The others could wait, they were busy.
Fenton and Phantom had a staring match that was only broken by Fenton's sudden hand movement.
Phantom flinched when the cool hand came in contact with his blue tinted cheek.
Fenton watched as the skin paled and went from blue to a green tinted white and the fire died down and formed white messy hair.
They stared at each other, wondering what the other would do.
Suddenly Phantom felt his face move and change. He blinked astounded when he realized he had been changed back to his new form.
Fenton smiled at him. "I guess it is time for a new look. You used to look like an old man."
Phantom burst out laughing and the other soon joined him.
They laughed out of relief, joy but mostly acceptance that no matter what, they will always be Danny. Who cares about some supposed future. Danny would forge his own destiny.
The ghost boy stood up and brushed himself off. He pulled the other up too. "Glad that's cleared up. What do you say we kick Frankestein's butt over there."
Fenton grinned. "You're on."

So ummm yeah. I'm late but I have a very good excuse!!
I've working on a oneshot that turned out to be so long I decided to make it a book. It's a miraculous ladybug/DP crossover.
I have like 13 chapters and I'm not done yet but I'm not publishing anything until I have the cover done. Ive done the drawing for it but I cant find a way to color it with pencils nicely so if anyone had tips on how dannys skintone works plz tell me. I'm gonna try it painting it with my cellphone but ive never done that before and its probably gonna suck so if you are talented (or mediocre) in coloring tell me. Have in mind I'm gonna be picky and that there are some aspects I want in it.
if you took your time to read the thing above pm me if you want to do it.
THANKS
