The Soul Shredder shredded
The sword swung down.
Danny's arms swung up.
And he grabbed the sword before it could slice him through.
Fright Knight stared down in shock. "What?"
Danny lifted his head and smiled. "You thought I'd give up that easily?"
He grit his teeth and clamped tighter. The pointed edges hurt his palms.
Fright Knight scowled and pushed harder.
The two ghosts fought.
Danny grunted as the sword bit into his hands. He struggled. He wanted to scream but that would be wasted energy.
Fright Knight yelled as he put in all his strength. That child will not beat him. He has him at his mercy. He is more powerful.
Danny clenched his eyes shut. The sword lowered and came closer and closer to his head.
No.
He pushed. He felt energy come from his core and into his hands. His hands started glowing. Like a charging ectoblast. Except he kept charging it. He felt the green glow travel from his hands up his arm.
It felt similar to when he had tried to break the glass box at Skulker's.
Danny didn't stop.
The energy glowed brighter and surrounded his own being.
And still he kept adding more.
He didn't know where he got all the power from since his core was weakened. But he wasn't about to complain. Maybe Danny had more power than he realised.
He brought out more and the light green flames of the sword changed to the dark green of Danny.
Danny's hands burned. His whole body burned with pain. He screamed through his closed teeth.
His human form wasn't used to this kind of power.
He felt the rings want to form but he pushed it back.
Dash is watching, he reminded himself. I can do this as a human.
Dash was watching alright. He gaped open mouthed. What was- happening?
He knew one thing for sure.
Danny Fenton wasn't human.
Fright Knight's eyes widened. What was happening to his sword!! He strained but the sword didn't budge in the halfa's iron grip.
The sword was strained. The power attacked it and pushed.
Then...something unspeakable happened. The unimaginable. The unbelievable.
The Soul Shredder cracked.
Fright Night's eyes widened.
And the sword shattered.
Valerie hid behind her shield. Dash lay down and covered his head. Tucker put Sam behind him and Leroy enveloped them, coverung them with his body. Dora closed her eyes. Nightmare screamed.
When it calmed down they opened their eyes and looked, almost scared about what they would see.
Danny lay spread out on the ground. All the power drained. He took small breaths. His eyes drifted to Fright Knight.
The ghost still held the hilt of his sword. The rest of it lay in pieces on the ground. The pieces no longer glowed.
Fright stood paralized. His sword. The Soul Shredder. Broken. It couldn't be. It was impossible.
Fright knelt down on the ground. He picked up one of the shards. It felt cold. All the power was gone.
Around the room distortions rippled in the air. Richard appeared. He panted and his eyes were petrified.
Kwan appeared on the ground. He looked up in shock.
Chelsea was back at the base of the staircase, which was chipped away in places but still held the sarcophagus of Pariah Dark, who slept on. Unaware of the commotion going on around him.
Dora blinked. She moved her mouth. The restriction was gone.
In many other places in the Ghost Zone everything the sword had caused was undone.
Fright Knight didn't notice any of this.
He let the shard in his hand fall and his gaze traveled to the exausted halfa.
He stood up and stepped back from Danny.
Danny saw this and groaned. He trembled as he pushed himself up. He looked at Fright Knight in the eye and raised his fists, ready to continue the fight.
The fearless ghost of Halloween looked on shocked. His breath came hitched and he stepped back again.
Maddie ran in through the broken wall. "They're he-" she gasped.
The others followed her.
Fright Knight trembled.
Then a bat appeared at his foot. And another. And soon black bats surrounded him completely, blocking him from their sight.
When they spread out Fright Knight was gone. The bats flew away through the roof.
Nightmare neighed at his master. He still couldn't move. Had his master forgotten him?
Danny stared at the empty spot in shock. Then the strength left him and he fell forward.
"DANNY!!"
Maddie ran forward and knelt beside the boy.
Jack stood next to her and held his bazooka up to protect them. "Where is the ghost!!!"
Chelsea rubbed her head. "What the shit."
The others weren't much better. Kwan, her and Richard had just woken up from their worst fear and came into the sight of a dragon, a pegasus, a trashed room and a boy who was facing a ghost that disappeared in bats.
It was safe to say they would need therapy sessions after this.
Sam sat up. "Tucker."
Said boy looked at her and grinned. "Sam!! You're ok."
"Did. Did Danny just break Fright Knight's sword?"
Tucker figured she awoken just in time to see it. He wished she hadn't. He nodded silently. He picked her up and walked to the ghost hunting parents. Both knew Sam shouldn't stand up. She probably had a concussion.
The others classmates walked around in awe. It was alot to take in. They ran to their friends. Happy that they were alright.
Dora stretched and Jack pointed his gun at her. "Ghooooost."
The princess held up a paw and shrunk.
Jack was too perplexed to shoot as the dragon morphed into princess Dora. She smiled. "It's just me."
Jack looked unsure about whether or not to shoot her. A ghost had harmed Danny. And he wasn't there to protect him. He wanted to shoot something.
"Jack." The man looked at his wife. She was teary eyed as she looked down at her boy.
His shoulder hadn't healed at all from his encounter at Skulker. His head was bleeding and his hands were cut. They also seemed burned. Third degree burn at that.
The halfa forced his eyes open. He was met with the fearful face of his mother, the self loathing expression of his father and a few other students who looked either curious, digusted, or concerned.
He tried a tired smile.
"Danny?" His mom gasped. "How are you. How do you feel?"
He didn't feel anything frankly. He felt tired. Excausted. Half dead. Well he was that already. So maybe he was fully dead now? Is this heaven? Or ghost heaven? Do ghosts even die?
Maddie saw the far away look of the boy and she patted his cheek. "Danny stay with me. Don't worry. We'll get you fixed." She slid her hands under him and lifted him up as gently as she could. Leroy appeared next to her and he sniffed at the boy. Danny lifted his hand slightly but let it fall limp.
"Sorry boy. Can't let you carry me this time. I'm ok."
Maddie looked up as she saw Sam being carried by Tucker. Valerie came limping over. Dash was bruised and cut. Kwan, Chelsea and Richard still looked scared.
"Alright we're getting back to the ship and attending your wounds and then you're going to explain what happened here."
She turned around and walked out of the castle.
She met Mr. Lancer halfway who had only just been able to land.
The teacher stared at his student wide eyed. "The hunger games. What is the meaning of this."
Maddie just shook her head.
The others followed closely behind.
Dash went to help Kwan. "You ok, man?"
The chinese boy nodded uncertainly. "Yeah. I think so. That was the most horrible thing I have ever seen. But what happened?"
"The ghost that cut you with his sword apparently sent you into your worst nightmare."
"Yeah. Got that. But what happened to you while I was gone."
Dash hesitated. Should he tell? Should he say that he had fought alongside Fenton and the Red Huntress against a ghost? Should he say that Fenton had beat the ghost up and that he wasn't even human? Should he tell about how Fenton and his friends seemed to be experienced fighters?
He pursed his lips and looked at Kwan. The jock stared back, concerned.
Kwan was his best friend. He couldn't hide anything from him. Even if he had told Danny not to tell Kwan, he knew he couldn't keep a secret from his friend.
But he wouldn't tell anyone else. He wouldn't want anyone thinking Fenton was better than him, because he realized it was true. He had a reputation to uphold.
Besides. Who would believe him.
Valerie limped next to Tucker, who was still carrying Sam. Dora hurried to the front.
Tucker looked at the girl. His gun was swung around his back so he had his hands free for Sam.
"So...what are we going to say?" Valerie asked.
Tucker shrugged. "Ghost attack?"
Sam rolled her eyes. "No duh. How are we gonna explain Danny defeating the ghost."
"Maybe he didn't defeat it. Maybe the ghost was done with him so it ran away."
They walked past the frozen pegasus. In all the rush, they'd completely forgotten the horse was still there.
"How are we gonna explain that"
Then they spotted a girl next to the horse. They stopped in shock.
Chelse kneeled next to the animal. She held her hand out and stroked it. "Hello," she said gently.
"What happened to you? Can't you move?"
She gasped. "You're frozen. Don't worry. I'll get you heated up."
The horse growled at the touch.
Valerie quickly snatched Chelsea away. "No, idiot. That's a dangerous animal!!"
Chelsea yanked her arm away. "It's just scared. Besides we can't leave him here."
Valerie bit her lip. Tucker shrugged. "She's right. We can't leave him here."
"Well. Who's gonna carry him?" Valerie crossed her arms. "Cuz I as heck ain't carrying a pegasus."
Kwan walked forward and grabbed the pegasus' back. "Common, Dash. We'll carry him."
Dash looked unsure but grabbed the hooves. They were stiff as a stick so it was easy to carry.
The grunted and lifted him up. The two jocks walked to the entrance with Chelsea right behind, thanking them the whole way.
Valerie blinked. "Did they just offer to help?"
Tucker chuckled. "Looks like people are changing."
Sam frowned. "Or they want a pegasus as a pet."
Valerie laughed. "Danny gets one monster pet and now everyone wants one."
Tucker thought of Danny as Sam groaned at the prospect of everyone in the class coming home with a ghostly pet.
Tucker gasped. "Did she say we were going back to the ship?"
Valerie's eyes widened.
Sam looked confused. "Wait what? Who?"
"Maddie said we were healing Danny's wounds back in the ship."
Sam paled. "But that could kill him."
They looked at each other for a moment. Then they sprinted to the front. "Mrs. Fenton!!"
The way back to Dora's castle was pretty awkward.
Dora morphed into a dragon and almost everyone wanted to ride her. She carried as many as she could, including Nightmare, who was being held by Kwan and Dash so he wouldn't fall.
Others rode on Leroy. Maddie and Jack proppeled themselves forward by rockets at their feet. Sam, Tucker, Valerie and Dora were able to convince them to take Danny to Dora's hospital instead of the ship. He and the others could be treated better there.
As they approached the island they noticed something off.
Dora squinted her eyes and leaned forward. "It can't be." She flapped her wings harder and the students yelled as she flew faster.
As soon as they got close enough they saw it.
"Isn't that the dragon from the story?" Paulina commented.
"It is," Dora growled. She couldn't believe it. She's gone for five minutes and her brother somehow finds his necklace and burns down her kingdom.
