The giant plant ghost monster
"So," Phantom cleared his throat. "You guys remember the plant fiasco?"
"What?"
"Oh yeah!" Chelsea exclaimed. "When we woke up surrounded by dead plants and a destroyed city! You mean you know what happened?" She gasped when he nodded. "I've been wondering about that for ages."
"So this wasn't the first time I met Frostbite and the other yetis." Fenton pursed his lips. "But the other time is classified. Sorry guys. There are some secrets that need to stay like that." He winked.
"Yeah well," Phantom continued. "Back to the story. There was this plant ghost monster-"
"Of course it was a ghost plant," Andrew muttered angrily. "Does anything happen in this town that isn't because of ghosts?"
Fenton frowned. "You woke up to a half destroyed city surrounded by dead plant remains what did you think caused that."
Andrew hummed. "Point."
"So anyway. This huge plant ghost monster appeared out of nowhere, but don't most ghosts, and was mad because they were cutting away trees to build those new renovations Vlad came up with."
"I would be too," Sam grumbled and Fenton chuckled.
"That's probably why he chose you."
"What?"
Fenton just shook his head and gestured for Phantom to continue.
"Yeah. The plant ghost, his name is Undergrowth (how do I know that? He shouted it out during his evil monologue, of course), started to destroy the machines and buildings and stuff."
"I think I remember him." Andrew scratched his head. "A big green plant with spikes?"
"Yep. I tried to take him down but he can regenerate really fast and he could control plants, obviously, which he sent after me." Phantom leaned back on his hands. "He was eventually able to catch me and knocked me, Tucker and Sam out with sleep spores. When I woke up, I was tied up by millions of vines and couldn't use my powers to get out. Tucker was right next to me."
Tucker nodded. "The whole town was taken over by plants." He shuddered. "I've never eaten any vegetables, why were they so angry at me."
"Where were we?" Kim questioned. "I think I would have remembered the town turning into a jungle."
"Everyone was either captive in plant bulbs to feed the seeds or being controlled by a mind vine to destroy the city."
"What?!"
"Feed the seeds?? They were taking our life?" Nathan looked absolutely horrified. "They killed us??"
"Oh wait. No." Phantom scratched his chin, making the others sigh in relief. "That happened later."
"What?!"
"Chill out guys. You're not dead, are you?"
"I don't know." Kwan gasped. "Are we?"
"Back to the story." Phantom ignored the others' existential crisis. "Everyone was being controlled to destroy the city so he could make room for plants. His plan was to conquer the world, just like every other villain out there."
"So that's why the city was a wreck." Dash sniffed. "I so wanted to visit that new arcade."
Fenton furrowed his eyebrows. "Actually. I think you and Kwan destroyed that one."
Dash paled considerably. "Noooooo," he whailed.
"But Phantom," Sam interrupted. "You said Tucker was there, but what about me. Was I being controlled too?"
Phantom nodded. "Yeah but that was different. You were special. Undergrowth...ummm...chose you to be the queen of his garden." He blushed as he said this, recounting Sam dress and how she looked at him with those daring green eyes and wild hair.
"Really?" Sam completely missed her boyfriend's flustered look. Too deep in thought wishing she had been conscious for that. She would have found it amazing. "But," she frowned. "I didn't hurt anyone, did I?"
"Well..." Phantom scratched his neck, deciding to make it seem less terrifying than it actually was. "He made you chase after me but I was able to escape."
Sam frowned. She knew Phantom must be simplifying it a lot and she worried that he was hiding how much she had done. Did she hurt him? She wouldn't forgive herself if she had.
"Oh. I forgot to tell you. Before all this I didn't know about my ice powers. My core was getting stronger and with that, I started getting colder." Fenton continued.
"What's a core?" Valerie asked curiously.
Fenton tapped his chest. "It's like a ghost's heart. It's the energy source and usually the cause of a ghost's powers. I have an ice core, therefore I have ice powers, you get it?"
His classmates nodded slowly but decided they were more curious about the story than their friend's ghostly anatomy so Phantom kept going.
"When I was flying away from Sam and the tsunami of plants trying to strangle me, I started getting colder and colder. Everything I touched freezed up and I was losing control." Phantom looked down at the snow, remembering his confusion at the time. "I couldn't go up against Undergrowth like that so I escaped through the portal. Undergrowth had run away form the Ghost Zone to rule Earth. I figured he wouldn't be ecstatic to go back."
Dash gasped in horror. "You left us?!"
"I was freezing to death, Dash," Phantom frowned, he hadn't been very happy with the decision back then either but he had had no other choice. "I could barely stand up, let alone go up against one of the strongest ghosts in this part of the Ghost Zone."
"Indeed," Andrew, surprisingly, backed Phantom up. "It was very smart and tactful of Phantom to go. A hero must pick his battles wisely. Or in this case," he added as an afterthought. "Procrastinate until he is ready."

Sheldon jabbed him with his elbow. "Couldn't have said it better."
Phantom relaxed a bit, knowing he'd done good that day. He smiled at the blond and continued the story. "I got in the Ghost Zone and I knew exactly were to go. I just hoped I had enough energy to get there."
Richard frowned. "Where?"
"Far Frozen, stupid," Melissa slapped the back of his head. "This is a story about ice. Besides, he literally said in the beginning: 'This is the story about me and the yetis'."
Richard hunched over, embarrassed. "I wasn't paying attention."
"So I passed out in the snow," Phantom interrupted them.
"What?" Richard perked up. "Did I miss some epic battle or something?"
"No." Fenton frowned, annoyed. "I don't always have heroic concussions. Sometimes I just freaking plop down on the floor like a deflated balloon and fall asleep."
Dani snorted.
"When I woke up, I was in the yeti's medical facility in a tank. Or ummm a de-icing chamber." Phantom sent Frostbite a scowl, daring him to say anything about his lack of clothes at the time. Thankfully, the yeti just smiled and looked away. He wouldn't DARE embarrass the Great One in front of his peers.
"Why were you in a tank?" Chelsea raised an eyebrow.
"To make sure I don't get frostbite. Speaking of, Frostbite showed me about the core. He and his people have these type of cores too. Turns out my ghost sense was a part of it."
"Your what now?"
"Ghost sense." Fenton fumbled with his hands, waving them around. "It's like a shiver that I get when a ghost comes close. But it's not like a normal shiver, like when you're cold. It's different. As if it's some type of sixth sense."
"Spidey sense!!" Mikey shouted excitedly but Fenton sighed as if saying: 'I wish'.
"No. It doesn't warn me about danger. I can just feel when there's a ghost nearby," Fenton said dejectedly.
Kwan waved his hand, grinning. "Tell them about the training."
David chuckled. He and his siblings had heard about the chaos 'The Great One' had caused during one of their visits.
Phantom squirmed, blushing lightly. His hair bristling. "Frostbite agreed to teach me how to control my power. We went to that very same arena and he showed me a few moves." Phantom winced. "Let's just say not many got out of there without frozen parts or injuries."
Frostbite and a few other yetis winced and rubbed different spots of their bodies.
His classmates laughed merrily.
Dash's smile disappeared when he got a look of Fenton's drooping arms and slouching shoulders. This shouldn't be shocking him that much given that this was Danny's usual posture at school. Only now, when Dash had gotten to know a completely different Danny, did he notice the act. And it looked unnatural on the boy. Those downcast eyes and head kept down. During this whole trip Danny had slowly begun standing up straighter, head up with bright attention and carrying himself like he could take on anything. With confidence Dash hadn't known the boy possessed.
But now it was gone and Fenton's head tilted a bit more, which made Dash realize the raven was nodding off. The jock nudged his best friend. "Bro."
Kwan hummed and turned his attention to the blond. "Whatsup?"
"Fenton's gonna crash." He nodded toward said boy and Kwan chuckled.
"Alright, man." Kwan stood up and put a hand on Fenton, who was startled awake by it. "Off to bed with you."
This brought the attention of the others.
Fenton mumbled angrily. "I'm not tired."
"No way, mister," Melissa frowned at him. "You look like you've been run over by a truck."
"Yeah, man," Chelsea added. "That's some spooky shit under your eyes."
Kwan frowned as he encouraged Fenton to stand up. "I thought I told you to go to bed as soon as you had finished eating."
Tucker bit back a laugh as he took in all the new friends they had made fuzzing over his best friend.
Fenton didn't find this as amusing. "Alright, ya big mamas. I'm going off to bed." He grumpily stood up, wincing at the multiple bruises on him. He walked after Firn, who'd offered to take him to a place where he could rest for now.
"Make sure you kick Vlad's ass in your dreams like the fruitloop always says you will." Phantom laughed when Fenton wacked him on the head.
They watched him leave until they turned back to the group.
"So how does it end?" Mikey asked excitedly.
Phantom raised an eyebrow. "Let's not end anything here, alright?"
"No, stupid." Chelsea leaned forward expectingly. "You got a new power, we're all being controlled and the whole town is being overrun by a psycho freaky plant ghost. You left us on a massive cliffhanger there."
"Yeah. I wanna know what happens too."
"Oh yeah!" Phantom smiled when he remembered where he had left off. "I stayed in the Far Frozen for three days, training my ass off and probably injuring like half the population. When I'd finally gotten enough control over my ice core (it was really rushed ok. Most yetis trained for two weeks when their core got activated). Anyways when I was able to somewhat control it, I left and went back to the Fenton portal."
Everyone was quietly listening, sensing the tension in the story that was akin to a calm before a storm. They definitely wanted to know what kind of storm it would be.
Phantom continued. "I got through and my house was covered in plants, but otherwise empty. Actually, the whole town was covered in plants but empty. It was a ghost town," he snickered. "Literally. I looked all over and eventually bumped into Undergrowth. He was by a giant purple tree, which I think was getting all the energy and sending it off to the other plants."
"What energy?" Richard asked, confused.
All Phantom did was wave the question away. "I'll explain later. Sam appearead. You'd gotten an upgrade." He glanced at her.
Sam frowned. "What does that mean?"
"You'd gotten more powerful. Undergrowth had more control over you too." Phantom shifted nervously. "Moving on. I asked them where everyone else was and these bulbs of giant plants lifted and sprang open, with everyone in them."
The class gasped.
"Is this when the whole using-our-lifeforce-to-feed-the-seeds happened?" Nathan asked, biting his lip.
"Yep. Everyone was trapped in a plant bulb. Thankfully no one was dead or too badly scratched up. I was about to try and get you out but Undergowth kinda smacked me away." Phantom winced. "I hate it when villains do that. It's like whapow!" He slashed his hand through the air. "As if I'm an annoying bug or something."
The others laughed at that.
"Don't laugh. You know how degrading that is? Anyways. Epic battle ensues. He smacks me down. I cut his arm off, which just comes back. He sends big ugly cactuses after me-"
"Cacti," Andrew corrected.
"Cacti. I get friking kicked on all sides, leaving me pretty banged up and covered in thorns and spines." He rubbed his upper arm. "It's darn hard moving when everything stings. I'm down and vines wrap around me. Soon I'm completely covered and they're taking me under. I can't see anything. I can't move. I can barely even breathe."
Everyone was leaning forward in anticipation, completely enraptured in the story. Even the yetis were curious.
Snowstorm was quietly chidding him. "Ice. Use the ice." She mumbled desperatingly as if past Danny could hear her.
Phantom smiled at her. "I realized the only way out was to use my newfound powers."
"Of course it is," Kim huffed. Why didn't you use them before?"
"Because I couldn't use them that well. It could go horribly wrong. But I had no choice so I remembered the training and held it all in. I built up the cold and then pushed it all out in one gigantic blast. Everything around me got covered in ice, frozen hard."
Frostbite smiled, happy his training paid off.
"I broke all the vines into little pieces, freeing myself. Of course he kept attacking me, but I remembered what Sam had said about plants. They don't like the cold." He smiled at the girl who nodded approvingly.
"Humidity is what opens their pores."
"Thank you," Paulina deadpanned. "For that random plant fact."
Phantom snorted. "So I froze all Undergrowth's roots. He became weaker and weaker the less hold he had. Once I'd incapacitated most of the roots, I started to punch Undergrowth old school style. Finally I incinerated him with a final shot." He punched his open palm for effect and the other's either cheered or sighed in relief.
Frostbite was confused. "If I may ask. How did you manage that? Undergrowth is an entity able to regenerate himself. He cannot simply be incinerated."
"Well. I combined my ectoenergy with an ice shot and blew him up from the inside."
The yetis gasped in surprise.
"Is that possible?"
"Could you demonstrate?"
Phantom held up a hand and a snowball appeared. He tried to fill it up with ectoplasm like he had done back then but he couldn't do it. He frowned when he realized his ghost powers were still gone. Then his eyes widened. "Wait. How can I use my ice powers?"
Frostbite smiled. "We have an ice core, Great One. We may not be able to fly or walk through solid objects but our ice power is a part of our core."
Firn nodded. "It can not disappear all of a sudden."
"Oh," Phantom made the snowball disappear. "Dammit. Should've known this before. I could have helped more with big doggo."
"No matter." Frostbite smiled. "It ended well. But I must see this tactical shot sometime. It was an amazing idea to combine the powers." He winked. "I would have expected such from you."
Phantom blushed and everyone excitedly talked to each other about the story and how everything made sense now.
They sat around for quite some time, talking and enjoying themselves for the most part. Finally, two hours later, Hoarfrost came running up, yelling about it being finished.
Everyone sprang up and sprinted after the yeti and towards the mechanics.
When they arrived, they were met with the sight of Maddie, Jack and Blizzard standing proudly around the ectastic. The machine itself didn't look that much different except for a few tweaks here and there, but judging by the mechanics expressions, it would do the job.
"Will it work?" Star asked critically.
Jack nodded, grinning madly. Then his expression faltered. "Where is Danny boy?"
"Oh," Kwan ran out. "I'll get him." He came back later as he pushed in a sleepy looking Fenton with bed hair and squinting eyes.
"Wha-?"
"It's finished!" Phantom ran to his other half, jumping around excitedly. He hated being separated that long. Like a giant pit in his stomach that didn't feel right. "They can put us back together!"
That seemed to cheer the other up. He fixed his parents under his gaze. "How does it work?"
Blizzard pointed at a spot in the middle of the room, facing the invention. "Stand right there. Phantom in front of Fenton. Everyone else clear out. Don't want you caught up in the middle of this. We don't know how it could affect a normal human."
The students did as they were told and pressed against the walls of the building, leaving the two Dannys behind.
Fenton squirmed nervously. "This isn't going to hurt, is it?"
Phantom's eyes widened. "I don't want a repeat of the portal incident."
Blizzard's grinning face dropped. He glanced back at Mrs. Fenton awkwardly. Maddie pressed her lips together before smiling. "We did everything we could to make it as painless as possible, sweetie."
Fenton winced, but sighed defeatedly. "Well. It can't possibly hurt as much as that time."
Phantom nodded. "We've had worse. And," he placed a hand on the other's shoulder, "it will be worth it."
Fenton smiled, nodding. "See ya, ghost boy."
"It was fun meeting you like this." Phantom chuckled. "At least someone could appreciate my humor."
Fenton laughed and the flame haired boy turned around to face the machine. They sent their parents a thumbs up.
Jack took a deep breath before turning on the machine. "Banzai!!"
Yep. You got that right. I'm ending it here. I know I'm friking awesome.
Anyway youre all probably angry that i took so long buuuuuuuuuuuuut i posted two new books!!
The moment i posted the first one, many of you jumped on it like leeches and i was like: Whoa. hold up. ok.... But yall loved it so thank you. if you dont know about it, its about danny who loses his memories as he, at the same time, spills his secret to everyone in the friking world and danny ends up being weirded out by everyone else as they try to tell him about everything he did and how hes half dead and he just...what???? Well i certainly feel dead inside. danny no
Its called "I'm a superhero, apparently" read the summary and check it out.
The second book is th crossover one from ML/DP and like, so few people found out about it and commented even tho it already has thirteen chapters. Thats just internet for you, i guess.
Theres also a third book that im making up about poeple going in dannys mind and seeing the world through his eyes but danny has no shitting idea theyre all there and he just goes on about his day. Like the typical 'whole class in dannys mind' but wihtout all the friking doors and emotions and Inside Out stuff. Nope. Im not telling you more. Thats for when i actually make it.
As you can see i have a lot planned, not to mention my dp oneshots....
