Phantom evolution

I don't ship it (well i could) but the pic is so perfect tho.

(23 year old me while republishing this with all my grayghost merchandise: ...)

Oh and hi

Danny frowned as he flew after the ship, his cousins and friends around him.

He felt....overwhelmed.

Ever since he transformed to his ghost form he heard a rushing sound coming from everywhere. He could barely understand what his cousins had been saying. It sounded as if so many people were talking at once. It was starting to give him a migraine. And ghosts don't get migraines.

And don't get him started on his eyesight. Everything, and I mean, everything stood out. The (what used to be) soft glow of the Ghost Zone was now glaring at him intensively, piercing his eyes and making him squint.

Danny shook his head again and rubbed his face with his cold hands.

Suddenly he reacted.

He didn't know why.

Danny flinched and charged up a fist of ectoplasm. He stood ready to attack an unknown opponent. He blinked when something familiar stood out from all the bright lights.

He lowered his fist when he realized he was threatening Stephanie and Dani. He took a step back and shook his face again. Why couldn't he hear anything?!

Dani recoiled in shock as her cousin suddenly attacked her before she could touch his shoulder. He wasn't responding to any of their calls either.

Stephanie growled at Danny. "Are you ok?"

Danny didn't give a sign he had heard. Only shaking his head again and rubbing his eyes.

Dani frowned in concern. "What's wrong with him?"

"I don't know," Damien held Cujo back before the dog approached his distressed master. "Maybe it has something to do with his new appearance."

Dorian flew off Leroy and towards Danny.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Dani warned. "He's grouchy."

Dorian shook his head. "He's not grouchy. He's.....sensitive? I think? Daniel? Can you hear me? DANIEL!"

Danny jerked as one of the rushing sounds became louder. He groaned and held his head. Instinctively he held up an ectoshield around himself and the sounds of trains were turned down a notch. He slowly looked up to squint at the figure on the other side of the shield.

He recognized Dorian. "Daniel, are you ok?"

Danny rubbed his ears and clenched his jaw. "I- I can't hear anything. Or see." He blinked.

Dorian gasped. "Uuh..Daniel? What are you doing?"

Danny didn't understand what was said but he felt some kind of urgency so he looked up. His ectoshield....it was going coo-coo.

It was bending into all kinds of weird shapes and forms, looking like a squirming animal. Which is much like Danny honestly felt right now.

Dorian said something else and the shield recoiled from him as if the sound wave was too loud.

Danny started hyperventilating. He shut his eyes tight. It was getting worse. The small whooshy sounds were now loud metal music mixed with country and maximal bass. The colors were not only standing out but punching him in the eyes like checking your phone at 3 am with 100% brightness.

He couldn't take it anymore and pushed the rings outward. They split and had covered his whole body before anyone could blink, such was his hurry.

Danny was breathing hard. The sounds had lessened only slightly. Although he could distinguish them now. He heard heavy breathing that he somehow knew wasn't his own. Someone said something and the ectoplasm around them shifted, showing they had moved. Blackjack neighed, he had been following them quietly until now.

Danny looked up in fear. Much to his relief, his eyesight was almost normal. The colors still contrasted in a painful way, but it didn't split his head open like before.

He blinked a few times to reorient himself and found out the ectoshield was still there.

It shouldn't be. His human form couldn't manipulate an ectoshield.

Danny frowned and made the shield pop. It dissipated in the air.

"What just happened?"

The sentence sounded like someone was shouting right next to his ear. Danny flinched. "Can- can you guys stop talking so loudly? I'm right here you know?"

Dani scrunched her eyebrows. "I wasn't talking that hard," she whispered, causing Danny to wince again.

The clones exchanged worried looks.

Danny looked at his hands and hesitated before lighting them up. The bright energy seemed too bright. He squinted but didn't look away. He made it bigger and let it rest in the air. The boy frowned at it and concentrated. It shaped into a flower.

The hybrid gasped and the flower seemed to go off like fireworks, which only made him panic more.

A mini storm was happening right in front of the boy. Growing bigger by the second. Wild turbulence in the air.

Danny felt his energy drain and he realized he had been feeding it. He quickly cut off the flow and forced himself to calm down.

He took a few deep breaths. "Ok. Ok. This is weird and crazy. This is insane. But ok. Calm down. I'm calm. Are you calm? Cause I'm calm. No one's calmer than me I'm the calmest."

Dorian bit his lip as his cousin lost his mind. "Daniel," he said in the tiniest voice he could muster.

The other boy looked at him. His face contorted in panic. "Dorian, what's happening?"

"You tell me." Dorian watched as Daniel looked of somewhere in the distance. Dorian glanced that way but there was nothing except ectoplasm.

Danny bit the inside of his cheek. "There's something there. It's talking. Wait...Boxy?"

Dani shrugged. "Whelp. He's lost his mind. It was bound to happen. Wasn't that great of a mind anyways."

Damien sent her a withering glare.

Danny shook his head. "No really! I'm telling you guys. I hear Box. He's... Talking to Lunch Lady about....cereals? Lunch doesn't want them because they're fake sugar but Boxy is building a fort. Wait." His head swiveled the other way. He scowled then sighed. "Skulker never learns, does he."

David was looking around like crazy. "What who? How do you know that."

Danny winced. "I...can hear them. I don't know ok." He closed his eyes for a bit, letting them rest. He cocked his head. He still heard everything. His cousins moving and their positions. Cujo panting. Stephanie shifting. Blackjack's flapping wings. Islands floating. The very ectoplasm in the air swirling. His mind provided him with a colorless image of it all.

"Whoa." He moved his head around although that made absolutely no difference. Suddenly he felt something weird. Ectoplasm disappearing suddenly. It was around a big shape made of some kind of metal.

"The ship!" His eyes flew open in surprise. He groaned as the light came in and blinked.

"Huh? What. Wait where's the ship!" David perked up in a panic.

Danny pointed as he rubbed his eyes. "It's over there. I can feel it. Common let's go. It's getting away."

They cautiously followed the ghost child.

Stephanie grunted. "You can....feel it?"

Danny waved his hand. "Yeah kind of. I can hear the ectoplasm around it. I can kinda...see? The metal? I don't know." He huffed in annoyance and confusion.

Dorian gaped at the boy. "You mean you have enhanced hearing? And vision given the fact you're squinting the whole time."

Damien's eyes widened. "Are these your new powers?!"

Danny flinched. "I guess so. I can't say I'm happy to have them. They almost split my head open."

Dorian nodded. "I am guessing that was your powers settling in and your body growing accustomed to them."

Danny frowned and looked down at himself. "But I'm in human form."

Dorian nodded. "So now your new powers settled in your human form."

Danny's eyes widened and Dorian swore he saw them light up with stars. "So I have enhanced hearing and sight in human form?!"

Dorian shrugged, although a smile tugged at his lips. "It will probably seep into your ghost form given that all your powers seem to mix in forms."

"But," Danny frowned. "I transformed before this. Why are my powers only now acting up."

David cocked his head. "The only other time was when you used the...watchamacallit."

"Ghostly whail." Danny nodded. "And it was draining my energy so it must have interfered with the process."

Damien nodded too. "And the new power must have pent up until you triggered it by transforming just now."

"There's the ship!"

Danny grunted and held his ears. "Daniiiiii keep it downnnn."

Dani gave a sheepish grin. "Sorry. The ship....it's there," she whispered.

"Looks like they stopped," Dorian said.

The cousins gave the ship a wide berth (is that even a word? It looks so weird suddenly) to see The Workshop in it's full metal and garbage glory.

Alright the building itself wasn't all that bad, being a two story building with a large balcony and various types of tech attached to it making it look like a fancy microwave. The dump next to it was though. It being a literal dump.

There stood all the humans, looking as if they had just arrived. A few waved wildly at the arriving party.

Danny hesitated. His classmates sure liked to chatter.

He felt it come before a hand rested on his shoulder. He tensed but quickly calmed himself. It was Dorian.

"I'll talk to them," the boy muttered.

Danny smiled as his cousin followed the rest and spoke to his classmates. Dorian was always the one he could always count on. Not that the others weren't trustworthy. He could trust them to pull a prank on him.

Dorian nodded at Danny, which would have been impossible to see unless you had Danny's eyesight.

Danny landed on the ground that stretched out in front of the building, barely finding a spot free enough of metal and other crap to land.

"Is it true?"

Danny looked at the person who had whisperyelled in excitement. "Is what true, Chelsea."

"That you have superhearing!" Richard said, throwing his hands up.

Danny immediately held his head and stumbled backwards. The rest of the group turned to Richard and shushed him.

"Yeah." Danny growled and rubbed his ears. "So keep it down." He squinted as he looked around. "Now where's Technus?"

As if on cue the door flung open to reveal a tall white haired ghost. He had a labcoat on and dark glasses. He spread his arms dramatically. "I AM TECHNUS. MASTER OF ALL-"

He was suddenly cut off as the air around him constricted. He yelped in surprise.

Danny groaned as he held his head. His hands glowed green. His head snapped up. Glowing green eyes glaring. "Not so loud!" He whispered harshly. Then his eyes widened when he saw what he was doing. He was manipulating the ectoplasma around the ghost. Danny had Technus in an ectoplasmic death grip.

He immediately released him and his hands' glow faded. "Sorry. Hehe. Just, I'm kinda...can you...just keep it down."

Technus frowned in confusion. "Ghost child-?"

He was interrupted by the others' loud shushing.

Danny flinched. "Hey Technus. We ummm...we need your help. Can we just do it quietly? I ummm..."

Sam sighed, this wasn't going anywhere. "Danny is still getting used to his new powers." She ignored Danny's whines of protest and continued. "His hearing and...sight?" She asked Dorian, who nodded. "Yeah. They're sensitive."

Technus made an 'oh' face. He looked over at the halfa, inspecting him. A trace of a smirk could be seen. Technus was never good at hiding his emotions. He made an attempt at being quiet. "What has brought you here. To The Workshop."

Maddie stepped forward cautiously, unsure of her son's relation with this ghost. "We have trouble with our vehicle and someone advised The Workshop."

Technus seemed to glisten with pride. "Of course. I, Technus, am the best mechanic and inventor in the whole of Ghost Zone." He cocked his head curiously. "What is your problem? With the vehicle you say?"

Jack nodded cautiously. He didn't quite trust this guy close to his ship.

Technus approached it. Danny looked like he wanted to say something but grinned quietly.

"I wouldn't do that if I were-" Andrew began.

Technus gasped and crouched suddenly, holding his chest. He scampered away from the ship's grasp, his aura flickering. "I see," he wheezed out.

Danny was snickering.

Technus stood up and composed himself. "An ectoplasmic problem I see. Good thing I am the master of all science and-"

He was cut off again by Danny. As he had started to shout. Danny had a feeling he would be doing this a lot.

Maddie approached him and explained the situation. Technus nodded and grinned. He sure liked a challenge.

"It upgraded itself, you say? Then there's only one thing to do," he paused dramatically. "If you shut down your ship I shall remove these filters. Then I shall have to restart your program."

Tucker nodded thoughtfully. "That's not going to be enough. We need to change the upgrade."

Valerie joined in. "Take a few functions away so the rest of the ship can use the ectoplasm collected."

Jack raised a finger. "Nobody's taking my fudge machine!"

Tucker shook his head. "No wait. Maybe we could keep the already stored ectoplasm and use it like a battery."

"And when it runs out?" Valerie asked.

"This is going to be boring." Chelsea mounted Blackjack and went to investigate. Others dispersed as well, leaving the small group to brainstorm.

I just came to say hello!

Just to clarify. These r not his only new powers.

So plz. Last call for anyone with new powers or ideas for how technus will repair the ship.

Thank you!!!!
😘
