Le Ghost Zone

The green ectoplasm of the Ghost Zone swirled around. Constantly changing. It moved around the endless space, only interrupted by floating islands and lairs. Doors drifted up and down, leading to uncharted lands and other ghostly territory. A few simple ghosts floated past, minding their own business and not giving any attention to the gaping humans inside the human-made machine intruding their world.

Maddie looked at Jack to make sure and he nodded. Everything was going alright. She had opened the windows so that the children could see. The reason they could close was for safety.

She pressed her face against the window and looked back. She goaned when she spotted a few of their materials floating around next to the spacecraft and drifting away as she looked. "It still doesn't work perfectly. We're still taking pieces of equipment with us. Is..is that my newly finished electrost gun?"

Jack pouted as his wife grumbled about having to make a new one. "Awww. And I liked the name." He smiled at her. "Don't you worry, Mads. We'll just make a new one and you can take the oportunity to improve a few things on it."

Maddie smiled fondly at her husband, who grinned. "And I know just how to call it!"

The smile faded.

Meanwhile Danny inspected the ghosts floating by at a reasonable distance with concern. He searched eye contact with Sam. She was already looking for him. He signed her with the language the trio had invented. Danny had taught his friends how to speak ghost, which seemed to be the universal language in the ghost realm and most ghosts knew. Kind of like English in the human realm. Danny had picked it up from the times he had talked to friendly ghosts. Him being a halfa certainly helped in learning it since the language had different vocal noises than how humans talk. It had taken some time but eventually the three of them had gotten the hang of it. Just like Esperanto, which was spoken by a few ghosts like Wulf. Then they had turned it into a sign language, mostly just for the fun of it. Although it did come in handy in many cases. Such as this one.

What do I do? (For the benefit of the non-educated in ghost culture this has been translated from 'Ghost' to 'English') Danny signed at Sam, who shrugged.

You should leave your mark. You're pretty famous here, most ghosts will recognize it.

Danny thought about it. A mark was something a ghost left somewhere to mark his territory. It was close to what dogs do but much less disgusting....but close. It was mostly left in lairs or kingdoms. You decreeted it as yours and if other ghosts saw it, they would know who's there and who's territory they're entering. It could be a warning for enemies and a welcoming for allies.

Danny looked at Sam uncertainly. I don't know. It might do the opposite of what we want to happen. What if it attracts ghost instead of scaring them away. You know how Skulker is.

You can take Skulker just fine, Danny.

Yeah, in my ghost form. When I'm aloneee and no ghost hunting parents are around or my identity isn't at risk.

Maybe your parents can take them on.....or your mom, more specifically

...yeah. And this is an antighost flying space machine. Why am I worrying.

......because you are a ghost?

Sam. I had just found a way to calm myself down. You ruined my peace, thank you very much.

You're welcome. Now, are you gonna put that stupid mark or not.

Fine fine. But if something goes wrong, I'm blaming you.

Danny sat back and closed his eyes. He had to concentrate hard to do this without going ghost. He felt his ghostly energy inside himself and swirled it around a bit. He saw it with his mind and morphed it into the shape he wanted. A flaming 'D'. His emblem. He poured his essence into the sign and felt it glow brighter. The brighter it glowed, the more powerful the ghost that had made it. He imagined it appearing on the outside of the Fenton Space Shuttle and sticking itself on the metal. He knew a big flaming 'D' was now seen on the upper part of the ship. He just hopes his parents wouldn't notice. He felt a tingling feeling in his stomach and a slight pressure. That was weird. He usually never felt anything like that. He pushed it away and concentrated on making sure the mark was placed right.

He opened his eyes and looked out, not very tired. He had done this many times before on different parts of the city. He wanted to cover the whole of Amity Park someday. He chuckled at the news reports he'd seen showcasting 'misterious' sings appearing on seemingly random places. Like the Rulia Street (where Tucker coincidentaly lives), or Manson's Mansion (where Danny only later found out was where Sam lives).

He turned to Sam and noticed she was staring at him intently, looking like she hadn't looked away the whole time. He stopped and his cheeks redened a bit. Sam, however, didn't notice and quickly moved her hands around in a flourish.

Did you feel any different?

Danny cocked his head to one side in confusion. Why?

Your seatbelt was glowing. I think it's antighost.

He looked down at the offending object. It wasn't glowing anymore. So that's what he had felt. He had an alarming thought and he told Sam. Remember that the GIW sponsored this?

Yeah. That is weird. Why would they take interest in a school field trip.

I know. But there's something else. They must have helped with constructing the Fenton Space Shuttle. All this is very advanced. Even the seatbelts are antighost. My parents probably designed this but never had the materials to build anything. Those idiots probably provided them with materials. This is expensive.

Sam was worried. Why would they spend so much on this. Maybe they added a few things. What do they gain out of this?

Danny bit his tongue. Who knows what the GIW had messed with. Whatever they did, they messed with the wrong ghost's family.

Danny had a thought. But why didn't it attack my mark? If it felt the essence inside me then why not the whole mark.

He could see the gears turning in her head. What is your mark exactly.

Danny thought of how to word it. It's like a distortion in the air. It takes hold of the ectoplasm in the air of the Ghost Zone and changes it a certain way. Every ghost has a different change and outcome. It depends on their essence I guess.

In the human world it was different. The air was made of oxygen, not ectoplasm. He could still put his mark but it looked different. It was fuzzy and looked more a dot, however the essence could be sensed from farther away. So it took more energy to leave a mark there than here in the Ghost Zone.

Sam nodded at Danny's explanation. So maybe the ship confused it with the air of the Ghost Zone. If it's just made of the air here then it won't attack it because it doesn't see the difference.

Before Danny could respond a red haired girl who sat right next to Danny and two seats behind Sam stepped in between them. "What are you doing?"

Sam stopped, her hands mid sign. "What do you mean?"

The girl, who looked to be about 16 looked at Sam's hands meaningfully. The goth quickly put them down and smiled innocently.

Paulina, who sat next to Sam, intervened. "Ugh. Don't pay attention to them. They are just being nerdy."

The girl scowled at the Hispanic, who threw a disgusted look at Sam and turned back to the window, no longer interested.

The red head looked at Danny, curious. "That was sign language right? That's pretty cool. Did you make it up yourself?"

Danny threw a nervous look at Sam. "Yeah, we did."

"Wow. Can you teach me?"

Danny shook his head and Sam said. "No."

The girl sat back in her chair and grumbled. "Nice company."

Maddie appeared at the front and spoke up to get their attention. "Children!! We'll give you a choice given that it's the first day. Do you want to keep looking around and we could answer your questions or we can send out a few to float a bit."

That wasn't a very hard decision. Immediately, all of the passengers struggled to free themselves of the seatbelts and shouted:

"ME!"

"I'LL GO"

"I VOLUNTEER"

Maddie chuckled as Jack stepped up next to her. "You can go in turns. We can send out two each time. You will put on one of these." She held up an orange jumpsuit. A few groans could be heard from a few students. "Yes. Yes. They will protect you from any ghostly activity."

A hand was raised. Maddie stopped and looked at the blond boy who looked pretty young. "Yes...?"

"Can we breathe outside the ship?"

A few murmurs were heard, confirming that this was what many wanted to know. Maddie nodded. "Yes, we can breathe outside, somehow. The air is made of ectoplasm but also has many properties oxygen has that is needed to breath."

Mr. Lancer, who was writing down everything he heard, looked up from his notebook. "I trust that you have been here before to make sure it was safe enough for the younger population."

Jack nodded, grinning. "Oh yes. We've been here a few times before. And it was completely safe."

Danny groaned softly and leaned his head back. Of course it was safe. He had been there. He had skipped school when his sister had woken him up saying their parents were preparing to make a trial run and investigate a bit. He'd secretely gone after them to keep an eye on the ghosts. Also making sure his parents didn't anger anyone in the meantime. He had to do that a few times. It was exausting. Now he had to keep track of his parents and three other classes of unexperienced kids. He was only seventeen. He was too young to have to deal with this.

Danny was shaken from his thoughts when the seatbelts unclipped and disappeared. He was surprised when the adolescents didn't jump up and stampede their way to his mom. Only two stood up. A boy with curly short black hair and Star. He guessed his parents had already chosen them. They put the jumpsuits on and the Fentons helped them with the head protection. It was a helmet of sorts with seethrough glass.

Star looked down at her jumpsuit. "Oh I remember. I wore this once. When the parents were taken some pirate ghost."

Danny also remembered. It was the one time he had acted as a leader to the class. They had followed his every order. Even though in the end, they thought he had ditched them and turned their backs to him. He wondered if he could do it again. He shook his head. Only as a last resort.

The two students up front were clipped to a line and the door opened. The black haired boy immediately ran out at full speed and threw himself into the Ghost Zone. The rope attached to the boy unwinded from a panel close to the door. Jack pulled a lever and the rope stopped unwinding abruptly. A yelp was heard. Maddie leaned out the door. "Not too far...what's your name?"

"Richard!"

"Not too far, Richard. It's not safe enough for you to go alone."

Star stepped through the door cautiously and squeaked when she felt gravity free. Danny watched the two teenagers 'fly' around a bit.

Suddenly Sam stood next to him. "So where's Tucker"

Danny winced. "I don't know," he whispered. "I hid him in one of the beds."

Sam was shocked. "There are beds?"

"Well, where do you think we should sleep then. On the floor? In the seats?"

"Yes"

Danny rolled his eyes and looked back at Richard, who was now doing a backflip. Sam was quiet. He looked at her. Her lips were pursed and her eyebrows were furrowed.

"Don't worry." Sam was startled by Danny's voice. "We'll get out of this just fine. We'll just stay here a week, no ghosts will bother us, and the ones that do will get pulverized by the ship and the ghost hunting parents in it. Then we'll get home and Mr. Lancer will write an essay about how the Ghost Zone is green and ghosts can float and everything will go back to normal."

Sam smiled at Danny's reassurance. But it was only that. A reasurance. Most likely it won't go that way, but nothing would come out of worrying.

Danny's eyes glittered with determination she'd seen before. "I won't let anything happen to either of you."

And Sam knew that that was no reassurance. It was the truth.

Wassup mah fellow readers. So first hour in the ghost zone and they get to feel the air. Idk how that all works but the humans could breathe just fine in the show so i guess.

So Yvettewolf wanted some sam and danny fluff? Here ya go. I will put more scenes like this but theres also a lot of danny and tucker broship. Their best friends guys. Tucker isnt third wheel here.

The mark crap was my idea (just came out of the top of my head idk) but the ghost language is actually canon i think. I mean. Look at this paper:

It goes from english to some freaky weird shit. So i love the idea of a ghost language. Them turning it into a sign language actually wasnt my idea either. Not really. I read it somewhere. Cant remember where tho. In case youre cnfused the fentns designed sonething so that a big ship like this one could pass through a small portal. Idk how dnt ask me but they somehow get the ghost zone to 'stretch' out and 'grab' the ship (accidentaly grabbing a few things extra). And since everything human can pass through things in the ghost zone, the ship is able to pass through the portal and towards the other world. You getit? Ok

So im gonna do some serious dp studying and rewatch all the episodes to see how each person acts. I just read one of those 'whatch your movie' dp books. And ut was in the part where dannys class gpes to a camping in lake eerie and all their classmates are kidnapped by walker. I discovered that danny is actually the guys with the plans and is usually more calm. Though he is overprotective over his friends. Sam is more ACTION type. So thats what im doing. If you guys see anything out of character plz tell me. Ill appreciate it very much
