Fear me

Danny shuffled his feet and brushed his hair back selfconsciously. Sam hid her hands behind her back and Tucker whistled.

Jack inspected Danny. "Danny, is it true? Do you speak a ghost language?"

Danny kept his mouth shut. If he said anything in English now, the Ghost Gabber would react to him whether he talked in Ghost or Chinese.

Danny's mom heard the commotion and came over. "What is it, sweetie?"

Jack gestured at the Ghost Gabber. "Danny-boy knows Ghost."

She gasped and turned to the boy in question.

Danny chuckled uncertainly.

Thankfully, Tucker came to the rescue. "Ok yes. We do talk in Ghost. We learned it from the internet."

The parents frowned. "Why would you do that?"

Sam waved her hand as she past them. "Oh we were curious. And what better language to confuse other people than the ghost language."

Jack followed her with his eyes as she passed. She subtly hinted that the conversation was over. "You can learn a Ghost language from your computer?"

Tucker turned his back to them dismissively. "Of course. You can find everything on the internet."

The Fenton parents still looked slightly unsure but they moved away from the trio, accepting the excuse.

Sam returned to her friends with a wrist in her hand. It was a weapon she had just dug out of the pile as she had passed Jack and Maddie. "That went well"

Danny frowned. He looked at the teenagers testing out the new weapons. Richard was acting very suspicious as he slid something in his pants pocket but it didn't bother Danny as much. "We have to keep an eye on things that would go off around me so that I can avoid it," he whispered so the Ghost Gabber wouldn't pick up on his voice.

Valerie crossed her arms as she joined the group.

Tucker raised an eyebrow. "Danny, everything goes off around you." Valerie nodded.

The blue eyed boy shrugged. "Then I'll just have to avoid everything."

It seem he hadn't spoken quietly enough because somewhere was heard. "I'll just have to avoid everything. Fear me, you moron."

"Ha!" Andrew pointed  at the device still in Jack's hands. "Why did it go off now. Danny wasn't speaking in Ghost." He seemed to be trying to prove that Danny was a ghost.

Andrew frowned. There is something odd about this Danny Fenton. And he didn't like unsolved mysteries. So he tried to jump at whatever conclusion that came his way. Even if it was a pretty high jump.

Jack bit his lip. "It probably recognised Danny's voice from when he spoke in Ghost." He addressed the class. "Alright kids. Get your weapon of choice and let's get in the Fenton Space Craft."

The adolescents moved around and picked up their weapons. Jack picked up the rest and started walking to the ship. He glanced back at his son, who stood frozen in place. He must still be in shock that the Ghost Gabber reacted on him, Jack thought.

It was absurd, though. How many devices responded to Danny as if he was one of those scums. It eventually happened enough times that the Fenton parents started to notice. They couldn't be making the same mistake that lead to the weapon aiming at Danny over and over again. There had to be something else.

At first they thought Danny was being overshadowed by a ghost but after a few days of intense stalking they figured their son acted too much like he always did. Stubborn, overprotective and oblivious. Unfortunately they couldn't follow him into the school. A teacher had found them and the director had kicked them out.

Then they remembered the 'accident'.

It was way back when Jack and Maddie were building a portal. All it did was spark, but Danny somehow got it to work. With him in it. He was fourteen back then.

The Fenton parents were away in their pity party when they got a call from Jazz. She said that Danny was in the lab unconscious. His friends were trying to revive him. She didn't know how long the boy had been there. Sam and Tucker had said that they had come to look for Danny and had found the boy there, portal up and working.

They had immediately come home and treated him. There wasn't much to treat. He seemed fine except for a very high fever and slow pulse (Maddie had almost fainted when she didn't feel a pulse for a moment).

So they tried all they could to cool him down. Besides, they couldn't take him to the hospital. All the money was spent on the building of the portal.

He stayed in bed for three days. He did nothing but sleep.

Those were the worst three days of Jack's life.

Danny eventually came around and all returned back to normal.

Except for, of course, the antighost weapons.

So the Fenton parents figured out the reason why they kept reacting to their son.

They didn't tell him or anyone else.

They didn't want their son to think he wasn't completely human.

Sam frowned. "Well what are you going to do, Danny?"

Danny scrunched his eyebrows. They lit up in an idea. He suddenly pointed at something behind the ship and shouted: "OH MY GOSH. LOOK AT THAT. WHAT THE HELL!!"

Predictably, everyone turned to look and Danny smiled. He had to act quickly.

He created an ectoshield around himself. Then he let it shrink. It shrank so much it encased Danny in a closed bubble. It became like second skin.

The others were looking back at him in confusion. He smiled. "Nevermind. I just thought I saw something green."

"I just thought I saw something green. Fear me."

Jack grumbled as he stuck the Ghost Gabber deeper in his pocket.

The students turned back and entered. Chelsea muttered colourful words under her breath. In between you could hear "Green.." "We're in the f... Ghost Zone."

Sheldon tugged on Andrew's arm. The boy stood stock still as he stared at Danny in shock. "Green," he whispered.

Sheldon laughed. "Yes, Andrew. The Ghost Zone is green."

Andrew continued. "He glowed green."

Sheldon inspected Danny. He noticed his friend was right. The black haired boy was shimmering green. He shook his head. "Must be the air. Let's just go in." And he dragged a stuttering Andrew behind him. Nothing got Andrew like that, Sheldon knew. So he knew not to dismiss what the boy said.

After all, if you're the friend of a genius, you pick up some things. Sheldon was sure Andrew's brain was working overtime now.

Danny walked to the ship's door with steady steps. The ghost shield around him renewed his confidence.

His friends followed uncertainly.

Tucker looked at the halfa. "So far so good?"

Danny smiled triumphantly and nodded. This gave the others little reassurance.

However, when he was a meter away from the door he started feeling a pull.

He clenched jaw and strengthened his shield as he followed Valerie in.

Inside it was slightly better. There were less filters than outside. But the relief didn't last long.

The students were all sitting down and the clicking of seatbelts was heard everywhere.

The door closed and Danny leaned against the wall. Everything in him told him to break the door down and get the heck away from there but he pushed it away. He could hold this out.

He slowly made his way to his seat. His body was becoming numb. His instincts were now screaming at him. But his mind was too foggy. He couldn't think anymore.

He plopped himself down in exhaustion. Not able to hold his own weight anymore.

The seatbelt clicked shut around his middle.

His breath was stolen as he gasped. The belt pressed against his belly to the point of asphyxiation. He grabbed at it and struggled to free himself.

Meanwhile Jack and Maddie were putting away the weapons and talking to the students. Completely oblivious to the torture their son was enduring.

The pressure was getting stronger and Danny, in desperation, ripped it off.

The belt dangled from his hand as Danny took deep breaths. He quickly tucked it in the side of the seat.

That's it. He couldn't take it anymore. He braced himself and pushed himself up. "Can I go to the bathroom?" He asked shakily.

Maddie smiled. "Sure, sweety. But be back soon. We're leaving."

"Can I go to the bathroom. Fear me, you idiot."

Jack grabbed the thing and threw it down the garbage hole.

Danny slowly made his way to the back. It was worse given the fact that his seat was all the way in the front.

He panted as the filters fed on his shield. He couldn't keep this up much longer.

Then the shield popped.

The adolescents jumped at the sudden green light and looked at the trembling Danny.

Jack approached him. "Are you alright, son?"

Danny wasn't alright. With the shield gone, the filters started feeding on his core. And boy were they having a feast.

The halfa opened his mouth. "I'm ok."

"I'm ok. Fear me." A faint mechanic voice was heard from the garbage hole. Nobody payed attention to it. When it realised they still didn't seem to get it, it added. "I am a ghost."

Danny leaned on a seat. He could feel his strength diminishing by the second.

Tucker looked on in horror. Wisps of energy were leaving Dannys hunched form and disappeared in the ceiling.

As if it's sucking his soul out, Tucker thought of how accurate Danny's choice of words were to describe the evil ectofilters of the ship.

It had been funny back then.

Somehow, it wasn't very funny now.

Danny took a deep breath and straightened. He realised he wasn't going to make it.

He turned around to meet his parents' terrified eyes. His own full of regret.

"I'm sorry," he murmured.

Before falling facefirst on the floor.
