Drift away from this shit
The machine hummed to life.
Phantom and Fenton shut their eyes as a bright light encased them.
The others gasped when the two boys started screaming. They were barely visible through the whirlwind of light around them but they could see Phantom being pushed back and slowly merging in with Fenton.
"It's working," Maddie said with relief. However her finger hovered over the off button. She held herself back. The process had to be complete before she turned it off, but she didn't want her son(s) in more pain than they had to be.
Both boys felt stinging pain all over. Everything around them faded away and all they could feel was the pain. Just because they were used to it, didn't mean it didn't hurt anymore.
But despite the pain, they felt relief. The different molecules embraced each other like dramatic long lost friends and held on tight. Everything took it's place and adjusted accordingly.
Maddie saw the two blur together and finally plop down on the floor, silenced. She quickly turned the machine off and the bright light disappeared. Everyone saw Danny now on the ground, groaning as he squirmed. They hurried forward to him worriedly but stopped in their tracks once they got a good look at him.
He was in human form, but wisps were leaving his body as if it was stretching.
Danny's eyes opened and he looked around to see their shocked faces. He frowned. His body felt weird. He stretched. It was a good kind of weird. His bruises and cuts disappeared and he felt so much more refreshed. He yawned for good measure before sitting up. Danny gasped when instead of sitting up, he floated. The boy frowned, he'd thought he had his powers under control.
It was then that he got a good look of his body. "What the heck?" It was as if he was in ghost form and his ghostly tail had formed. He held up a hand to see the fingers try to wisp away as if it was made of smoke. Danny yelped and concentrated to form his whole hand again.
"Whoa, Danny." Tucker couldn't help himself. "Try to keep yourself together."
"What's happening?!" Danny waved his hands over his legs, as if trying to push them back into one.
Maddie knelt before him, biting her lip in worry and thought. "I don't think your bodies have bonded completely yet. Try to solidify, Danny. Think about being human."
"But I don't know anything about being human," Danny said in desperation. "I forgot." He had, after four years of only being halfhuman, he didn't know what a normal being felt like. That one day of being separated wasn't normal either. His human body yearned its ghostliness. It was not natural.
"Breathe, Danny," Sam knelt next to Maddie and held her boyfriend by his shoulders, ignoring how his skin swirled around her fingers. "Look at me. Look at me, Danny."
Danny looked at her deep purple eyes. They crinkled when she smiled reassuringly. Before Danny knew it, his breathing evened out and he calmed down. He smiled back.
She nodded and slid her arm around his shoulders as she pulled him closer. Danny glanced down at his body to see it much more solid than before. He narrowed his eyes and focused on holding it together. It wasn't that bad. It wasn't as if he was dissipating completely. However his body wasn't like before. It felt like he could stretch it and bend it like he could his ghostly body.
Danny decided to try it. He shifted in Sam's hold, who hadn't let go yet, and tried to stretch his arm out. Nothing much happened. His arm didn't completely wiggle about like a worm. He was pretty sure his bones didn't even separate (thankfully). Not even his muscles. Now that he had calmed down enough and his body had adjusted and learned that a human shouldn't be able to disembody itself, only his skin swirled around a bit.
As Danny was inspecting himself, Sam turned to Maddie and the mechanics. "What happened to him?"
Jack spoke up first as he walked over after making sure the Ectastic wouldn't turn on while everyone was in range. "He's ok, right?"
"Yeah," Danny responded, "I think I'm fine. What was that?"
"My guess," Hoarfrost cut in, "would be that this was some lasting effect of all the shifting around your body had to endure. Something must have gone wrong."
"Oh." Danny sighed and buried himself deeper in Sam's arms. Couldn't anything go right for him? "Should I go ghost? Maybe that will help."
"Absolutely not!" Maddie exclaimed. "More ghostly matter will not help your condition. Not that I have anything against ghosts (at least not anymore), you know that, sweetie." She quickly tried to console him while he raised an eyebrow at her before cracking a smile.
"Thanks Mom. Ok, I guess no going ghost until I'm back to normal or have this under control." He reluctantly stood up, taking Sam with him. He stretched his arms.
Sam inspected him from top to bottom. "You feel ok, right? Apart from that."
"Yep." Danny cracked his bruise-free back. "Better than before. So," he turned to his parents and Frostbite, "what now?"
Everyone turned to the Fenton parents in hope and dread.
Jack and Maddie looked at each other.
"Well," Jack started. "We don't have to get to Amity Park until tomorrow."
Maddie glanced at Frostbite. "Do you think you could let us camp here? For one night."
Frosbite nodded. "Of course! Although," he looked apologetic, "we do not have enough rooms for you to spend the night in."
"You have rooms for us," Damian pointed out and Frostbite nodded.
"Those were built especially for you. That is not enough for all these children."
Jack grinned. "That's ok! We'll just sleep in the Fenton Space Craft, right kids?"
He got semi enthusiastic responses.
They slowly filed out of the mechanics, some thanking Hoarfrost and Blizzard for helping with the Ectastic.
Once outside, they glanced at each other, unsure on what to do now. Damien smiled.
"How about we show you some of the things we do when we stay here."
"Yeah!!" Dani motioned for them to follow. "I'll teach you some games we play with the yetis." Stephanie and her bounced off with the rest following them.
Dorian pouted as he formed into full form. "Don't tell me we're gonna go skate. I don't like skating."
"Come on, Dorian," David complained. "Just because you don't have legs doesn't mean we cant skate."
"Alright. But we're going to the palace after."
"Great idea!" Dani exclaimed. "We need to find Snowbite and the others to help us."
"The palace?" Melissa asked, interested.
Damien nodded. "It's the thing we're making for the 'best snow house' competition. It's in like...a week, but we're not done yet. We were allowed to compete since we are good friends of the yetis so we just drop in once in a while to work on it. Some other kids do most of the work, we're kinda tagging along."
"Ooooh. Can we help out?" Chelsea asked.
Dorian paused, causing her heart to drop. "I'll have to ask the leader of the competition later. What was his name? Frosty?"
Danny burst out laughing from where he sat on Leroy, who occasionally growled at the ghost dog trotting close by. "The seriously named someone Frosty?"
"No," David interrupted. "It was Snowy."
The group guffawed with glee.
"Are you serious?!" Tucker gasped.
David nodded with a grin.
"They're running out of names, I'm telling you." Valerie shook her head.
Before they knew it, they had gotten to the skating course.
The group saw many young yetis skating and playing tag or simply showing off.
They were directed to some stands were Danny's clones were given their skates, which had been custom-made for them some time ago. The students paused in confusion. They glanced at the yetis on the ice and noticed how they were using literal ice skates.
"Umm," Kim addressed the yeti behind the stand, "We don't have skates."
"Oh!" The yeti blinked, then slapped himself. "Of course you wouldn't. My apologies. Do make a line, I shall fit some on your feet."
They didn't understand what he meant until he hovered his paws around Kim's foot and formed a skate that fit her perfectly. She grinned as she wiggled her foot around in it. Thankfully, she was allowed to keep her shoe on or it would be much colder than it already was. "Thank you." She slowly made her way to the railing that surrounded the ice rink as everyone else got their fit.
Kim leaned against the railing and watched Danny's siblings twirling around and playing with the other kids. She smiled. It was still weird to think they were his clones, but she wouldn't let that tint her view on them. They were great kids.
"Ready to go?"
Kim turned her head to see James stepping on the ice and smiling at her. She grinned and pushed off. "Try to catch up, Brownie."
He laughed and tried to keep up as she sped away.
After a long time of playing tag, doing competitions and overal having fun (mr. Lancer was surprisingly good on ice and had gained the yetis' respect), people settled down a bit.
Danny sighed with a smile as he buried himself deeper in Leroy's fur. He stroked Cujo's puppy form on his lap. The raven stared intently at the swirling skin on his hand. He stopped petting the dog, ignored his whine and touched his skin.
Sam plopped down next to him after patting Leroy on the head. "What are you thinking about?"
"Do you think I even have a fingerprint anymore?" Danny showed her his palm.
Sam blinked and grabbed his wrist, bringing it closer to her face. "I think you have millions of fingerprints now. That's extremely useful for when you want to plot a murder."
Danny snorted and she smiled, happy she got him to laugh. She patted his hand, ignoring how, even though he kept it still, his skin seemed to move under her touch. "Don't worry too much about it, ok? This is just a new superpower you'll overcome. And once you have, it will be useful. You'll see."
Danny smiled. "I'm sure it will. But what I'm worried about is that the others will notice."
Sam frowned. That might be a problem. The people back in Amity Park are sure to notice a boy whose skin seemed to peel off him. However, now that she looked closely, she could see it wasn't floating away from him like it had when he'd just come back together. "Look!" She lifted up his hand, "You're already getting it under control. Now you only have to stop the skin from moving."
Danny raised an eyebrow. "To be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing-"
"Do you ever?"
"No, but it usually works out."
Sam nodded. "So we don't worry about this one. Worry about the nervous wreck coming our way."
Danny looked over to see Tucker walking over to them looking like he'd heard the world was gonna end by tomorrow. The techno geek kneeled before him in desperation. "Danny!! Please get Maria back now. I can't take long distance relationships!!"
Danny rolled his eyes. "Cheer up. This way she won't find out about your side chick."
"Shhhhhh," Tucker covered the other's mouth. "You'll hurt Sally's feelings. She needs more attention after the screen glitched out. I can't help that."
"You could stop having so many make out sessions with that laptop for once." Sam frowned.
"Ok first off," Tucker said, holding up a finger, "Stop calling her a 'laptop'. Would you like people calling you 'human'."
"You just called people 'people'," Danny pointed out.
"I'm not human." Sam crossed her arms. "I'm a creature of the night."
"And second off," Tucker continued, ignoring his friends' usual antics. "We don't make out. I just kiss her goodnight every once in a while."
"This is why you don't have a girlfriend, bro."
Sam sighed as Tucker spluttered, offended. "You might as well just go get it."
"Yeah." Danny put Cujo aside and gave Leroy one last pet before standing up. He floated off the ground. "You guys tell my parents where I've gone. They probably wouldn't let me go if I asked."
"Sure." Sam waved. "Be safe."
"Don't do anything to Maria or I'm stealing your free tacos ticket!!" Tucker shouted after him.
Danny laughed as he flew away. "You'll never find it!"
Tucker frowned when Danny was gone. "He probably hid in inside his wall along with all those poke cards he owns me." He punched his palm. "One of these days I'm kicking that wall down."
He would
Nyway here ya go. Hoped yall liked it.
