Danny the match

Danny wouldn't stop grinning. He jumped around David. "Common, Dave!! Please. You could live at our place and go to school with me and we'll hang out. Aww Damien please."

Dani jumped next to him. Both had the same expressions.

Damien chuckled. "Of course we'll do it. But is there enough space for all of us?" He turned to the Fenton parents.

Maddie paused to rethink this but Jack grinned. "We will just have to make space, won't we."

David fiddled with his fingers. "For the four of us?"

Maddie frowned. "We might have to buy a bigger house but in the meantime you can share a room with Danny or sleep in the guest room. Once we get the money the government is paying us we might have enough for another house."

Valerie gasped. "They're paying you money?!"

Richard huffed. "No, Valerie. They're paying them flowers." She rolled her eyes.

Maddie nodded. "Only a small amount but we also get a big percent of the money obtained from sponsors."

Danny hugged his mom and then his dad in a fierce grip. "Thank you. I love you so much. Thank you thank you thank you!!"

Jack patted his head. "Sure thing son. Anything for family."

Maddie watched amused. "I wonder how Jazz will react to the news. She's getting three brothers and a sister after all."

Tucker laughed. "And they all have Danny's personality. Oh this is gonna be good."

Danny scowled. "Hey. I'm not that bad."

David held up a hand. "Actually we are only a part of Danny's personality. And we have some things he doesn't."

Tucker hummed. "A part of Danny is already too much for Jazz."

Danny rolled his eyes.

Richard raised his hand. "I'm hungry."

Maddie blinked at the sudden change of topic. Many other students raised their hands too.

"Me too."

"Me three."

"Can we get a coke this time? I'm sick of all the water."

"And a burger. I wanna burger with extra meat and no lettuce."

"And fries."

"Definitely fries."

Maddie looked at her watch. "It's twelve thirty already? Better get some food ready. Sorry kids, there is no fast food in the ship. But we do have a bit of food left from Princess Dorothea. She gave us plenty of meat. Mr. Lancer, would you assign a couple of students to help me with the food? Preferably students who know how to cook or at least prepare food. It is precooked but we need to distribute it." Maddie paused, realizing they didn't have anything to heat the meat up with. The moss wasn't fit for a fire and the ectoplasm in the air wasn't apt for the heat. "I'm sorry kids but you will have to eat it cold. We cannot risk a fire here."

Kim frowned. She pointed at Danny. "Can't he make a fire?"

They all turned to look at the halfa. He raised his eyebrows. "You are not thinking of using me as a match, are you?"

He sighed and lit up his hands. "Alright what do I burn. And only if I get twice as much meat."

Maddie smiled. "Of course, sweety. Jack? Can you take all the weapons inside? It's getting horribly in the way."

Jack pouted but did as he was told. As did the others.

A few students and Maddie brought out the food and hovered it above Danny's arms. It eventually got too tiring and they stuck big sticks in the ground and placed each plate on top of them. Danny lay down on his stomach and stretched his flaming arms out under the 'table'.

The rest socialized with each other.

Danny sighed, bored. He stopped playing with the flames and looked around at the adolescents interacting. It was amazing how these people, who had never met before this field trip, were talking with each other as if they were old friends.

James and Kim, jock and quiet girl, were talking and smiling. Mikey and Sheldon talked as they looked quizzically at Andrew who sat brooding over all he had learned about Danny and occasionally speaking to Melissa. She hummed uninterested and kept her conversation up with Chelsea. Dash and Kwan were hollering at Richard, who was sneaking up on Andrew to pull a prank on him and bury him in moss and dirt. Mr. Lancer broke that up quickly. Danny was happy to see his cousins, soon to be siblings, mingling.

The thing was. These people had gone from not even glancing at each other at school, to close friends. Danny guessed it was because they had been in life threatening situations together.

You truly get to know each other when your life depends on it.

Or something like that, Danny mumbled to himself.

Note to self. Get that one person and me in mortal danger.

Jack gasped. "No!!"

Maddie quickly ran over. "What is it, Jack. Is it a ghost?"

Jack made crazy gestures with his arms. "The- the Ectotastic is gone!!!"

Maddie scowled. "Jack you can't be serious."

"I'm not joking, Mads. It's gone."

Mikey frowned. "You mean the one that removes the ghostly energy off and sucks its?"

Maddie pursed her lips as Jack pouted. She glanced at Danny, who pretended not to listen. "Maybe it's for the best that it's gone." She walked to the ship to fetch more food and Jack walked behind her frantically. "What do you mean 'for the best'. I spent two months working on that!"

Danny ignored his parents and concentrated on the cooked meat. "This one's done!" He called out in a monotone voice.

Chelsea came up to pick her plate up and walked back to Melissa. She stopped when she noticed Sam getting in the redhead's face. Chelsea turned an plopped down next to Valerie. She did not want to get in between a fight from those two girls.

Sam glared at the redhead intensely. Melissa still had no clue what she was talking about. "What?"

"I know what you're up to and I'm not letting you go through with it." The last time Sam had felt so jealous was when she had finally gotten a kitten for her birthday but the feline had decided it preferred the girl's mother.

Melissa held her hands up. "Look if you're talking about the conspiracy theory of Andrew then I have to tell you I have nothing to do with it."

Sam scowled. "Oh yeah? And what about all that staring and flirting with Danny?"

"What does that have to do-" Melissa blinked. "We're not talking about the theory here, right? You mean.." She couldn't help it. She laughed.

Sam leaned back and crossed her arms. "What is there to laugh about?"

Melissa wiped her eyes. "You want him, right?"

Sam frowned but hesitated.

Melissa shook her head. "Girl, the way I see it. He's single. I'm single. You won't make a move. So I will. Thought I had made that clear."

Sam's face glowed red. "Don't you dare get near him," she hissed.

"Why not? You said it yourself. You aren't his girlfriend."

They were catching the other adolescents' attention. They hooted and whistled at the fight.

Danny frowned from where he lay. He removed his hands and sat up. "Hey! What's wrong?!"

Sam and Melissa turned to him in a flash. They stared at him for a second before looking back at each other with hate.

Melissa sighed and sat back. "Look. You're pretty nice. I don't think we could be besties but no need to be enemies ok? Got enough of those. But your friend there is nice too. Very nice. So if you don't do anything about it, somebody else will. And I don't want it to be someone other than me."

Sam blinked at the girl. "So...you're just going to lay off?"

Melissa waved her hand. "I'm just saying. Either you do it soon, or I will."

Basically every phan.

Sam turned without another word.

The other adolescents sighed when they realized the show was over. A few snickered at the thought of two girls fighting over Fenton.

Danny frowned from where he sat. "Sam? Are you ok? Were you fighting again?"

The goth ignored him and walked past him.

Tucker snorted with laughter as he sat in front of Danny. Both the boy's sides were already occupied with Leroy and Cujo. "You have no idea how much I have dreamed of this moment."

Danny frowned in confusion. "What do you mean? What did I miss?"

Tucker looked at him skeptically. "Don't you have superhearing or something?"

The other rolled his eyes. "Yeah but the other kids were shouting in between. Besides I keep hearing sussing in my head."

"A 'sussing'?"

"Yeah. You know like a balloon that just 'tsssssss'"

Tucker pursed his lips. "Oh that. Why?"

Danny pointed. "I think it's coming from the ship. I swear it's getting stronger. I don't think this is good for my cuzes."

Tucker nodded. "I'll talk to your parents and see if they can turn it off or something."

Danny nodded gratefully. "Thanks, Tuck."

"Have a piece of meat ready for me!"

Tucker made his way in and walked to Mrs. Fenton, who was restocking the food in the cabinets while her husband put away the weapons. "Hey Mrs. F. I was wondering if there's a way to turn off the filters?"

Maddie looked up and shook her head. She sighed defeatedly. "They had said the filters would stop when they are full but they should have reached their limit by now."

Tucker shuffled. "Can't you just take them off?"

Jack frowned. "The equipment we need for that is back in the lab."

Tucker waved his hands around. "By the time we get back it'll be sucking half the Ghost Zone in!"

Maddie sighed and stood up to leave the ship. Tucker followed. "There must be something you can do! Didn't the Guys in White give you an offswitch or something!!"

They were close to the group now and Kwan perked up. "What are you talking about?"

Maddie gave them a concerned look. She tried to not let her fear show or it would rile them up. "We can't turn the filters on the ship off. The necessary equipment is back at the lab."

Paulina raised an eyebrow. "Well why don't we go get it?"

The female adult shook her head. "It is too far away. The damage will be done by then. We need to act now."

Dani smiled brightly. "Oh hey! I have an idea!" She grinned and ruffled Stephanie's fur. The ghost growled questioningly. "I have a friend who can help us."

Maddie looked doubtful. "Are you sure your friend is nice?"

Dani nodded fervently. "Yeah. Common. I'll guide you there."

Maddie put her hand on her hip. Well what did she have to lose. "Might as well give it a try. Alright kids, get ready! Finish your food and throw your plates away. I'm sure they're halfburned by now although they should have been strong enough to hold it."

There was a rustle of movement as everyone got ready.

Danny stood up and so did Cujo. He barked at the halfa and Danny petted him. Suddenly his ghost sense went off. It had been going off a few times when he got close to Leroy, Cujo, Stephanie or his cousins and it was really annoying. However he knew this was different.

He scrunched his eyebrows and looked around.

Then he spotted Sam a bit to the side. She seemed upset.

Danny stood up and, after telling his pets to stay, approached her.

Well this is a bad place to leave it at but whateves.
Consider it a cliffhanger.
