And may the odds be ever in your favour
Static sounded from the speaker at the corner of the room. Danny, who was staring holes at the machine for the whole classtime and had only looked away for a second to check the time, quickly snapped his eyes back to the thing.
From the speaker came the sound of someone clearing her throat. Every student in the room, and probably in the whole school, looked at the speaker in their classroom.
"Good morning, residents of Casper High School. I hope you are all enjoying your classes and learning well,"
Danny growled. He wished director Ishiyama would quit with the introductions and just tell them who's going to the trip. He knew he was coming, but who else. He prayed his friends would be there too. He'd begged his parents to let them come and they said they would try their best but it wasn't certain.
"As you all know, we have allowed an educational trip to the Ghost Zone! It will be led by Maddie and Jack Fenton and it was sponsored by the government and the organization 'The Guys In White'"
Danny narrowed his eyes suspiciously. He didn't know the GIW had gotten involved too. He could have slapped himself. A bunch of kids going into the Ghost Zone and maybe in direct contact with ghosts? Of course they'd get involved.
"Many of you have signed up for this trip and many of you are excited to go, I'm sure. However, only sixteen were chosen. We have discussed with the parents or guardians and in this way many were disqualified."
A few groaned, suspecting treason.
"Now here in front of me I have the list of students in between Freshman and Junior class that have been chosen. Most were chosen randomly, although there were a few who's parents have helped by investing a small amount"
Sam groaned softly, bribery.
"Here are the sixteen kids chosen in alphabetical order"
Everyone leaned forward and crossed their fingers.
"Melissa Bakker,
Dash Baxter,
Richard Brown,
Star Brooks,
Nathan Dixon...wait what?"
The director suddenly stopped and seemed to be talking to someone offscreen. "Why should I slow down?.....oh yeah. They're teenagers, of course they're gonna shout...alright alright, I'll slow down"
Dash was meanwhile running around the room hollering at the top of his lungs. He found the classroom too small and sprinted out the door. Danny sighed, but was otherwise unsurprised. Dash was in the football team and had gotten many trophies for the school. It would have been shocking if he wasn't in the list. Nathan was grinning like an idiot and was rocking in his chair.
The speaker spoke up again, slower this time. "Daniel Fenton." Nobody raised an eyebrow at this name. "Kim Fuyong,
Valerie Gray."
Danny looked at Valerie cautiously. She someone managed to look relieved and smug. He narrowed his eyes in concern.
"Chelsea Jay,
Andrew Johnson,
Mikey Lane,
Samantha Manson,"
Danny relaxed at hearing her name. He would be alright now. He suddenly jumped. They hadn't mentioned Tucker's name. And if this is going in alphabetical order. He slouched deep into his chair and stared at the speaker hopefully while biting his lip. Please let there be a mistake.
Sam was slightly surprised to be chosen. Her parents, though rich, wouldn't have given any money for this 'crazy trip.' Maybe the school thought that if their daughter went, they would change their minds. She shrugged, they wouldn't but what did she care. They had chosen her. And she was going. No matter how many discussions she would have with her parents about it.
"Paulina Sanchez." She screamed. They shushed her. It didn't work and they could barely catch the rest of the names.
"James Sullivan,
Sheldon Wesselton,
and Kwan Xu."
The speaker turned off after a few goodbyes and good luck wishers from the director. Danny sat still amidst the chaos around him. He kept staring at the machine, hoping. Nothing happened except for Dash coming in and embracing Mikey before he realized what he was doing. Danny realized they weren't going to say it. His world seemed to fall apart. He wasn't chosen. Tucker wasn't in the list.
Hiiiii. So i know its kind of too many students from dannys class but theres gotta be some excitement. Deal with it. I also made it so its from freshman to junior instead of sixth grade to junior so theres more 'chance' for dannys classmates to be chosen.
Idek if those are their last names but who cares.
