1.0 - Dew of the day

The early mornings always had a special effect on me. Nostalgia flowed over me while I kept staring at the sun and the beautiful shapes of the clouds over the castle walls. It was breathtaking.

A tall woman strode over and stood next to me. "It's pretty, isn't it?" I nodded and closed my eyes. The winds whipped fiercely at the onset of the day, but the way they caressed my face was like the kind touch of a lover. "It is." Together we watched the sun crest over the high walls of the castle, which cast a cold shadow over the Royal capital of Haedevili.

Next to me, her soft voice broke the silence. "Cecilia." She waited a bit before continuing her sentence. "... Do you regret it?" I could hear the fear in her voice.

Even without any context, I knew what she meant. "Of course I do."

"There's not a day that I don't."

"Then.. would you want to change it?"

"What a stupid question, Of course. But there's nothing we can possibly do. They're dead. All of them."

"Cilia..."

I looked over the wall. The countless corpses lying outside were the dying proof of it. Each and every last one of my beloved ones had been slaughtered, murdered, or burnt alive. "We're the only ones left."

"No, you are." I opened my eyes and turned around, hoping to meet hers, instead, I saw her turn into ashes. "You're the last one."

I blinked a few times; tears were falling down my cheek and cold sweat was rolling down my spine. I tried to suppress the memories, convincing myself that everything was all right. "It's just a nightmare. Nothing more. Nothing. More."

That was no longer my reality. My beloved ones were still alive. I could change their fate. And I would. Even if it would be my final act.

Nothing could break my will. Even if the world turned against me, I would accomplish my goal. I turned around. With my back towards the sun, I walked towards my new life, embracing it with open arms.

"Even if this is the Devil's doing, I thank them."

It was no longer time to dwell on the past. I would move forward.

I wasn't exactly sure how exactly I would change it, but the first thing I had to do was to go to the mountains. One of the keys to this plan was a certain being dwelling there.

A new chapter was beginning. One that certainly will be interesting, don't you think?

Notes : Holy I just realised how short this is compared to the prologue LOL. But anyways it's finally time to move on onto more action now woooo.
