O'Youth
Link looks at the shield in his hand and then down the snowy slope before him. He is currently on the peak of Hebra Mountain, finally being given that long overdue vacation. Now that the world is at peace and nothing is falling from the sky and the Princess is...well, free, for the lack of better word to describe how she is feeling since completing her 'Quests'...Link is finally free himself to do what he wanted.
There is a lot of things he wanted to do. Things that he can't being the Hero and bearer of Fi, who is finally awake now that Demise, the origin of all his miseries, are dead and gone. The sword refused to leave him after her duty is done, even going as far as sabotaging any other swords and claymores from his use. He can use the shield and the bow, but Hylia forbid he put a hand on anything that can replace her.
But back to the matter at hand.
He is free.
Now...to indulge on the juvenile desires of his childhood that he had suppressed for ages.
He hops onto his shield and surfs down the snowy hill with a flat laugh. His ability to feel is better now, but expressing himself still takes a little more motivation on his part. His eyes found a drop off ahead and he lets his shield slides off it... only to land on the head of the Yiga that have been stalking him.
Link ignores the painfully moaning Hylian, continuing on his way.
Now that monsters are gone for good, the only monsters he need to worry are other people. Ironic, that. Still, people that can be dealt with by law and by prison are far easier to deal with than the constant reviving of monsters every blood moon.
Father had liken their reviving to his job with the endlessly existing being around him.
Control and contain are all that can be done. At least when a person is killed, they stay dead. Or if injured enough, they will stay down. Either way, he's on vacation and their problem isn't something he need to deal with. If they survive the concussion, then maybe he'll deal with them...after vacation.
~
Link stares at the large flat rock surrounded by fires. The Goron Brothers are cheering, talking about standing and enduring the heat for as long as they can...for fun?
Link don't know if burning his soles off can be fun but...
...
What heck.
Lets do this!
~
Link winces a bit as he slathered some healing cream made from 'hearty' and 'chill' ingredients that the Princess had pushed on him when she heard about his long awaited vacation onto the soles of his foot. He will privately admit, he had overdid it with the 'standing on hot rock in nothing but his undies'. Pure determination and the competitive streak that have been growing in him are the only reason he stayed longer than any of the other Goron Brothers.
Was it worth it?
...
Hell yeah!
As Jason would put it.
He then wondered what Revali is up to these days.
~
Revali squawks as Link shoots at the target behind him, "Damn it, Link! Watch where you're shooting!"
Link signals; [Consider it payback]
Revali huffs, "Payback for what?"
Link points at Vah Medoh perching on top of the Rito Village. Revali gawks at him at the pettiness he showed. He then rolls his eyes, mumbling under his breath, "I can't believe I preferred it more when you were nothing but a perfect soldier,"
Though he said that, Link can hear the undertone of fondness from the prickly Rito.
When Revali learned from the Princess about Link's condition and what the man that trained him had done to the boy, he had softened a little. Just a little. He had been concerned because Link from those years back are too...perfect...and not even Revali, who strives for perfection always, was that perfect.
To be still like the mountain unless ordered otherwise.
Who does that? Who lives like that?
Still...
"Damn it Link, we don't use bombs to propel to the sky! You don't have a damn feather to slow down your fall impact, your little chaos Bokoblin!"
Just how wild is this brat?!!
~
Mipha giggles as she watch Link race the young Zora barely into their teens up the waterfall. Although he rejected her feelings, telling her that he could not love her more than as a sister figure, she still handed him the Zora armor that she had made for him. Mipha understands that for a Hylian, having known someone from a young age only to be confessed to once older must be jarring. After all, she had been a sister figure to him for years growing up. He had shown slight discomfort around her after her confession. But Sidon easily thaws that icy discomfort with his adventurous spirit.
She flinches when Link jumps into the water from a dangerously high vantage.
When she saw Sidon about to join his playmate, she decided that perhaps she still can't put the mantle of being the big sister to Link down just yet. He is as a wild as when he was just a guppy and that bastard of a man have yet to punish all his childishness out of him.
As fond as she is now that he shows his true self to the world, that does not mean she should let him influence her little brother with his bad habits.
"Sidon! No!"
~
Impa grumbles as Purah causes another explosion to ring through the village, "Purah! What is it with these rackets! It's too early for your nonsense!"
Purah pouts at her, "Aw! But Link agreed to be my test subject! I need to do this before his vacation is over!"
Impa looks to see the Hero of Hyrule inside a cannon with inflatables attached on it's other end where the cascable was supposed to be, goggles over his eyes, and thumbs up at her. Raring to be launched to who knows where. Before she could interfere, her menace of an older sister launches the Hero into the stratosphere and..."Where did you send him?"
Purah grins, "I launched him to Urbosa with a letter from Zelly!"
Impa whimpers, already thinking of all the headache waiting for her at the King's office, "...he better survive this so that I can wring his neck myself!"
Purah snorts, "He's part immortal dragon! He'll survive!"
~
Urbosa laughs at Link who is now squirming in a traditional Gerudo sirwal. Imagine her surprise when Link lands on top of one of her palm trees, waving a tiny white flag to her soldiers gathering at the base of the tree. When he signed to her that he just wants to look around as part of his vacation, she quickly tells him that he can...but under a disguise.
Fortunately for Link, he have the face of a girl.
For all his physical strength and his prowess as the Hero, he have the boyish cute face that can be passed for a girl. So she had him dressed and indulged herself with painting his face. She had also taken a picture of him when he was distracted with the Sheikah Slate.
Needless to say, Zelda will be most amused...
And blackmail material. Can't forget that.
~
The desert surprisingly have a lot of things to do. Although having to dress in such light clothing that exposes so much of him is a little uncomfortable, he quickly get used to it. It is just clothes after all. Still, winning the sand seal race is rather fun. Not to mention the giant skeletons.
Fi, his ever informative companion, tells him about these skeletons and apparently most of them were once all part of the Heroes adventures. Seeing them made Link wonder about the now free Spirit of the Hero that finally returned to Hylia. The Goddess had managed to separate him from the Spirit after Demise's...well... demise.
Link sits on a rock, a dead Molduga carcass being cooked by the desert sun not far from him, writing down what he learned from Fi into the journal Zelda had him keep. Though their relationship is certainly closer than ever now, he cannot help but want more.
On Link's part, he admires the Princess's tenacity a lot. Mentally and emotionally, she is certainly stronger than him. Well, that, and the fact that she can order him around is also fun for him.
Maybe Loki is right. Maybe he is a masochist?
He shakes his head, standing on the head of one of the Seven Heroines. He knows full well that Loki lies all the time. Well, maybe not all the time. The best lies are always the truth, as he would say. After all, the best lies are always the denials that people tell themselves. Basically, nothing beats lying to oneself.
But is he a beggar for punishments when it comes to the Princess?
~
Link have heard of the Lord of the Mountain.
Link have been tracking the Lord of the Mountain.
Link will ride the Lord of the Mountain.
So he spend a few days dedicated to 'hunt' down the spirit horse. Staking it out in his Sheikah gear that he paid Purah to get for him for his use. He had also promised to bring the mythical being to Kakariko for her research. So after 48 hours of waiting, the legendary horse-like spirit appears and those funny looking rabbits that carries Rupees on them, somehow, all surrounds it. Link lets them praise the Lord of the Mountain for a while longer before jumping down from his perch and landing on the back of the spirit.
Needless to say, it is then a battle of stamina. Luckily for Link, he had expected for the Lord of the Mountain to be wilder than normal horses so he had imbibed a copious amount of Enduring Elixirs just for this moment. After what felt like forever, he 'tamed' the Lord of the Mountain.
Another childhood wish checked off the list.
Too bad the people at the stable won't let him register the Lord of the Mountain. Pooh!
~
Link opens the treasure chest to see the final piece of what he dubbed as the Barbarian Armor. Excited that he finally completes the set, he quickly don it on. Looking at his image on his shield, the corner of his lip twitches a little. He looks absolutely barbaric!
He can't wait to prank the Princess with this!
Link, however, found himself distracted by the expansive Faron Woods. Also, he may or may not be having a blast scaring travelers as he leaps from trees to trees, hunting down the few remaining monsters hiding in the woods. Behaving just like a wild man, living off of the land, he spends a long while in the forest.
He harvests as much Hearty Durians as he can. After all, not only do they fall under the category of 'hearty', they are also a bit of a culinary gamble. So far he have tasted creamy sweetness, cheese-like flavor, and one that makes his tongue numb from the sharpness of its flavor. It is unforgettable and he wants to share the experience with his family and the Princess.
Hmm...yum!
Oh! A tireless frog! Fine specimen!
The Princess will praise him if he brings a bunch of them back!
~
Of all the things that Zelda expect her Knight Attendant to bring back from his month long vacation, it is certainly not a pool of tireless frogs! However, when she looks up from the pond of croaking red frogs, she found his eyes bright with expectation. If he have a tail, they will be wagging.
Zelda can barely suppress the infinite fondness she feels for him from squeezing her heart to death. Instead, she smiles at him and thanked him.
She swear on Hylia's name, there are stars around him as he beams at her through his eyes.
However...
"Link, can you tell me why there rumors of a barbarian warrior destroying a monster pirate ship that have been haunting the coast of Lurelin? Rumor has it that the barbarian is using the Master Sword to deal with Boss Monster,"
If he have wolf ears like one of the Heroes of old, they will drooping at her knowing look and tone.
~
Zelda will admit, privately of course, that Link in his Barbarian Armor does things to her. Not to mention, the amount of skin he exposed for her viewing are something else. Her mouth watered the moment he slips out from behind the partition.
She remembers Minato saying that he have a sleeper build; seemingly skinny and weak with clothes on but really rather muscular underneath.
His draconic horns appears and Zelda just know that her own horns are crowning on her head. Honestly, he always react to whatever she is feeling!
She relented and pinches his cheeks.
~
Zelda knows that Link is finally showing more and more the sides of him that he once hid from the world due to the pressure of being the Hero. Still, presenting her plates after plates of pungent durian for her tasting is...
"Link, what are you making me do?"
[Taste]
She stares at the plates full of creamy fruit flesh. She can understand if it is just one plate but he puts several plates for her to look at. She quirks a brow at him, "You want me to taste?"
He nods, the action making his head bob something silly. Zelda push away the adorable sight and looks at the plates of durian flesh, the seed taken out, with a silver spoon ready for her use winking innocently at her at the side of the plate. Deciding that she should indulge him for his trouble, she scoops one up.
She flinches, the taste...
"Cheesy?" Sharp with a hint of sweetness.
If Link can make his facial muscle work, he would be grinning at her. Instead, all he can express is an encouraging nod to her. Zelda hums, thinking about the cheese that had swept Hyrule off its feet after Link's godly Father came and complained about the lack of cheese. He then unintentionally introduced 'pizza' to them when he commandeered the kitchen with Jason and Archer.
Since then, new recipes have been creeping up from all corners of Hyrule. All using cheese as their ingredients. Even a simple sandwich includes cheese and her Father have been enjoying a hearty meal of cheesy steak. Then again, the castle chefs had begged Archer to share his recipes with them.
Still, she certainly did not expect a taste similar to cheese from a fruit, of all things.
Excited to learn why Link placed several different plates serving the same fruit, she digs in...
~
"I want cheese steak..."
Hylia looks at the Hero, small and child-like beside her, smiling indulgently at him, "We can visit Danny's realm and indulge in the restaurants there, if you wish?"
The Hero's Spirit looks at her, "That's wonderful and all...but why am I a kid?"
Hylia giggles as she picks him up and cuddles him, "So I can do this!"
The Hero pouts, "But I'm your husband. Not your son!"
Hylia hushes him, cooing, "Shush. It's alright. I will never let anything harm you ever again,"
He thinks that Hylia is traumatized from having to watch him fight over and over as well as die over and over through the many cycles of the curse. It seems that she will be keeping him in child form for a while just so she can coddle him and baby him.
Still...must he look like the Hero of Time as a child?
~
Danny stares at his pond in his garden, full of croaking animals that weren't there just last night, "Why do we have so many frogs?"
