Duet of Red and Blue (1)

Danny looks up from his battle stance with his weapon when the presence of an Avatar of Order enters the air space of Phantom's Keep. Shaped in the mixed form of a battle ax that have a bladed inside that resembles a scythe with the top part resembling a glaive's spear head while the opposite side have a single spike, it is a weapon of pure destruction, especially with the length of the handle more akin to a spear than an ax.

Brushing aside the importance of the Avatar's presence in his home, he returns his focus back on his exercise. He still remembers when Archer first set eyes on his weapon. It is nameless because Danny's bad with naming things and Clockwork shot down every name he tried to give it. In the end, it has no name and Danny will always jokingly call it Nameless. Ironically, his kids and the others are quick to just accept that it is now 'named' Nameless. He raged about it to Clockwork and Archer when he found out.

"Of all the cool names I had tried to give it, you all just prefer to have me call it Nameless?!!"

"It's too the point,"

"Archer, you're supposed to be on my side,"

"But I still think naming it Nameless is more ominous than something like The Dark Destroyer of All or, Root forbids, Phantom's Balls Buster. Like this, it carries the same mystery and sinister air that Ea have,"

"You certainly carry your father's naming quirk, Daniel,"

"It's Danny and shut up, Grandpa,"

Danny finally stops and dismisses Nameless to look at his visitor. A tall man in blue and gold with a gleaming golden helmet covering his face greets Danny, "Greetings, Your Majesty, King of the End. Guardian of Balance, Watcher of Order and Chaos. I am here for...a rather personal matter pertaining to His Majesty,"

Danny thinks he have too many titles that he couldn't care less to remember, "Just call me Danny. I'm not much on ceremonies outside of formal events," Like war, "But what brings you here, Avatar of Order?"

The Avatar stands straight, "Please, Your Majesty, call me Doctor Fate. It is my alias as I carry my duty for the Lords of Order," He then pulls out a file, "As for the reason I am here requesting audience..."

When he offers the file, Danny have a sinking feeling that he knows what to expect. But just to be sure, he opens the file and starts reading. His green eyes flits through the documents in a practiced manner, flying through the words to pick up the most important keys, before looking up at Doctor Fate, "Come with me. I need you to fill me in on things that are not written here,"

"Yes, Your Majesty,"

~

Nabu tries not to shift in nerves while the Ghost King stands before his ceiling to floor window of his office overlooking his 'kingdom'. Although he is a Lord of Order himself, the Ghost King is someone who stands over Order and Chaos as he is the perfect embodiment of both. The End is above both Order and Chaos as the End is inevitable. For this reason both sides of the scales, both Order and Chaos, tends to behave with him. Not wanting their existence to end. All things, even Order and Chaos, strive to keep the End as far from themselves as possible. The Ghost King isn't known for being kind when ruthlessness works better to have the likes of overpowered beings behave.

His Majesty finally sighs, "Very well. I will see to this child myself. Inform your allies before their more paranoid friends jump their trigger,"

Nabu nods before politely excusing himself. He really should gather the Justice League and warn them against doing stupid things. Especially for the likes of Batman and Constantine. The End is the ultimate neutral force in Existence, after all, but the Ghost King is also a father. From what Nabu had gathered, he's extremely protective of his children.

Even those that come from the result of cloning.

Connor sits down rather grumpily on the couch of the lounge area in Mount Justice, still feeling put out by how Superman keeps brushing him off and acting like he's a parasite or something. Megan joins him with a bowl of cereal and other sugary treats inside, "You okay there?"

Connor gives her nothing but a grunt.

Megan doesn't pressure for answer, knowing that Connor will open up when he feels like it. Instead, she focus on her breakfast. By the time she finish, Robin appears, "Guys, the big wigs are here," He looks at Connor, "Apparently, they found something more about you,"

Connor glowers on the outside as he makes his way out, but internally he's panicking. He's trying so hard to be good, that he's not Luthor's attack dog like everyone have been suspecting. He knows that Batman have a containment cell that can keep even Superman weak like any other Earthling. He quells his growing fight or flight response as they walk towards the gathering area.

All the important mentors are there, though Superman never wanted to mentor him. But another figure is also there, someone that they have heard tales of but never directly meeting; Doctor Fate.

Kid Flash is still in denial about magic but Robin's foot on his managed to still his tongue to debate with the older Superhero.

Doctor Fate clears his throat, "It has come to my attention that Connor is more than just the mix of Superman and Lex Luthor. Rather, the DNA strain revealed that it isn't his strain that were used. In fact, the strain is almost unreadable...by mortals," He quiets to watch the information sink in, "However, I am capable of reading what this world is not ready to reveal. As of this moment, all Cadmus's facilities are being raided," This information surprised the others Justice League's members, "I was just informed," He placates them before looking at Connor, "That said, the main DNA strain owner that stabilizes Connor will be visiting. In fact, he's at the door and is politely," Ding Dong! "Ringing the bell,"

Connor tries not to panic. He could barely handle Superman's disdain towards him, and he sometimes have nightmare of still being in Luthor's control. Now he is informed that there is a third party?

"Excuse me,"

The voice that greets the room is soft but commanding. It echoes strangely, almost like static, but clear. It is extremely uncanny with how it makes everyone both alert yet calm. Aquaboy frowns, mumbling how it sounds as if the owner is speaking underwater or in cave. Artemis digs her ears, whispering that it sounds like someone talking from behind a barrier. But it is too clear to be both.

Doctor Fate bows his head, "Your Majesty,"

Aquaman looks at the visitor with interest along with Wonder Woman. Connor looks up to see a man standing at the same height and stature as Superman or Batman but leaner. He is dressed in a light adsorbing black suite, with blinding white pauldron and vambrace instead of gloves, along with equally blinding white greaves instead of boots. His tailcoats floats silently behind him, as silent as his steps, stars glittering on the underside of it. Glowing green piping adds to his form. Royal purple knot tassels sways from his white pauldron, breaking the monotony of his black and white.

On his white shoulders, Connor sees an emblem, almost like a Superheroes' emblem; a black 'D' but with a smaller white 'P' in the negative space. On his chest is a unique looking gem that Connor can see a grinning skull formed by the ghostly fractals inside.

"So this is Connor?"

Connor blinks, breaking out of his musing to look up and see Kryptonite green eyes looking at him with...curiosity? Where is the disgust? The suspicion?

What is this man playing at?

The stranger smiles a gentle smile that Connor have only seen on faces of fathers when they look at their children, "Hello, Connor. My name is Danny," His smile then widens into a grin, "And since part of you is made out of me, I guess that makes me your Father,"

~

Everything is upside down. Connor is completely out of his comfort zone. This world must be an illusion. What else can it be? No one had ever wanted Connor before. At least, not as a son. Luthor only wanted a weapon, a tool. Superman doesn't want to have any sort of relationship with him. But this...Danny...immediately introduced himself as Connor's...father? What?

He blinks when he heard his name being discussed between Superman and...Danny;

"...he's a clone made by Luthor. You don't know if there isn't a sleeping program in him..."

Ah. The usual drivel. Superman is always suspicious of him and now he's trying to make this new guy just as paranoid. He really can't let Connor be anything other than a 'clone' and 'Luthor's weapon', can he?

"Are you done?" Connor looks to see the new guy staring down Superman. He raises a finger, "I understand where you are coming from. You feel violated. What that fruitloop did (what's a fruitloop?) is the same as rape to you. That is why you are so against Connor,"

Superman flinches, his face pale, "W-what are you...?"

Danny continues, "Admit it. That is when you look at him, you feel as if your skin is crawling with maggots. That your throat is full of sewage waste. Every instinct inside you is rejecting him because...because Connor's existence means that this enemy of yours had gotten something extremely personal to you. He attacked you in the most intimate and violating manner. That is why...you tried to justify your instinctual disgust because you are in denial that your nemesis had done something so horrible to you. And because he had done this to you, your minds starts racing just how much he knows, how much more of you that he have tucked away someplace you don't know,"

Superman falls silent, all argument gone from his eyes. Then, to the surprise of all, there are tears falling. He's frame begins to tremble as he looks away in shame. Black Canary covers her mouth with her hand. She's a psychologist, she should have tried to see the reason why Superman are so against Connor. She thought it was just suspicion and paranoia on his part.

She had never thought to see Superman's neurological response to Connor like that of a rape victim that had given birth to their rapist's baby.

Danny hums, "Far be it for me to blame you for reacting the way you did. You are a victim, after all," His soft voice then harden, "But so is Connor,"

Superman looks at him, "Connor?"

Danny nods, "He's not at fault here. He never asked to be created. He is simply here because some power crazy fruitloop thought to make a replacement for you. And from the report I have read of him, he's practically a baby. An innocent child in a body too big and mind too stuffed. He doesn't understand social cues, he doesn't understand human bond, he doesn't understand things that other children took for granted," He points at Superman, "Your rejection of him...is not helping him find his place in this world. If you truly believes that the child should never shoulder the sins of their parents, then the same logic applies on Connor,"

Superman looks at Connor for the first time and the younger copy doesn't know what to make of his expression. After a moment, his face crumbles and his shoulders lower in defeat. He turns away from Danny, "Please...I cannot be what he wanted me to be. My experiences with clones before him...I'm practically wired to find them suspicious and to treat them as threat. For the good of us all...will you give him what I can't?"

Danny smiles, "Why do you think I'm here? He's not my first clone...and for the record, I understand how you feel. Though mine are less...like yours and more traditional," The other Justice Leagues members look at him in shock. Danny simply shrugs, "But that was so long ago that I gained new traumas to overcome that one,"

Kid Flash gawks, "Trauma on trauma doesn't fix anything,"

Danny snorts, "Don't I know it? I just figured out that I should learn how to cope with it in a healthy manner instead of the destructive one I picked up a few years...decades...centuries? Mah, ages ago!" He waves his hand in a nonchalant manner.

Connor is in a restaurant in Gotham with Danny, with a few men around him. Danny introduced them to him as his older brothers. The tall one with long silver hair is the oldest son; Seph. The blond one with blue eyes have an Eastern name; Minato. There is another silver haired guy but with steel silver eyes with hints of green; Archer. Another one with long black hair and narrow green eyes sits right beside him; Ash.

Danny, with his pretty horns gone and his ears normal human instead of sticking out like elves, as well as normal hair that doesn't trail like the tail of a comet and dressed in a simple black turtleneck with a jacket over black jeans and neutral boots, sits on his other side, smiling, "There are the others but...they can't really blend in. If you think I looked weird before, you will understand how much more different they look like," After the waiters put their food down, he asks, "So...Connor, what do you like doing?"

Connor awkwardly answers, "Fix stuff,"

Danny chuckles, "You'll get along with Archer, then. He likes fixing stuff too. If it isn't because I have staffs to attend to most broken stuff, he'll gladly fix them all and be a live in janitor,"

Archer puts down his slice of garlic bread, "I don't think he fix what I fix," He looks at Connor, "What kind of stuff do you fix?"

Connor shyly answers, "...a bike..."

Seph hums, "Do tell. I have used bikes before but I never really did understand the working of it all,"

Before he realize it, he's talking a mile a minute about bikes and super bikes. His...brothers...all show interest to what he have to say and that actually encourages him to talk more about his recently discovered hobby. It doesn't take long for him to fully relax in their presence. When he makes a mistake of gripping his utensil too tightly and bending them, Archer simply plucks it out of his grip and instead of scolding him, he fixes the silverware before Connor can even decide to apologize.

Just as the world feels normal again...

Something explodes nearby.

Typical Gotham.

~

Connor wants to jump out and fight...but Archer is actually keeping him down. When he turns to argue, Archer simply winks at him. Connor stills, wondering just what they are up to. Beside him, Danny simply wipes his mouth and looks at Minato who nods. Just as the goon points a gun in their direction, a knife found its way to his...skull.

Connor's eyes widen.

The other criminals turn to their table when their 'friend' folds over and die. Some whispers how Superheroes don't kill and suspects that they must be a new up and coming organized criminals. Danny shakes his head and looks at them, "Is the reason Batman have faith in the goodness of humanity the only reason you decided to take advantage and threaten the order of Gotham?" He snorts, "You'll find that I am not so...sweet,"

A goon shoots his rifle and Connor watch as Archer 'creates' a shield before them in the blink of an eye. Then he's moving and the goon's head is flying. Connor looks at Danny and shivers at the frigid indifference in his gaze. Danny had never said about being one of the good guys but he's also not antagonistic towards the League. If anything, Doctor Fate seems to show him great respect, so why...?

Danny hums, "Anymore idiots?"

"Wow, man. Don't have to do my job for me,"

They turns to see someone Connor recognized to be the Red Hood. Danny seems happy to see him, "Say, know a clown in Gotham?"

Red Hood puts a hand on his gun, "What sort of clown?"

Danny's face turns feral as growls, "The kind that blows up children after beating them halfway dead,"

Red Hood snorts, "Get in line, buddy. I got beef with the Joker too,"

Danny grins, "Good. Then you know where he is?"

Red Hood studies him quietly, "What are you up to?"

Danny looks at his sons before looking at Hood, "He once killed a boy...who waited for someone named B. That boy watched...as the clock of doom ticks away. I experienced his end with him. I waited for him to appear...but he never did. That means this clown did something that the boy cannot find peace. That child of mine is still somewhere in this world, wandering, seeking justice for his violent end. I am going to give him that,"

Hood had stiffened when Danny starts talking about the dead boy. Connor looks at the other and found their faces equally stiff with simmering fury. Hood then answers, "The Bat doesn't kill any criminals,"

Danny stands up, sneering, "Because he's human," Green flames envelopes Danny and revealing his 'real' form, "I consider myself an ally of justice...but my brand of justice is more rooted in that ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves. I do not care if others see me as a monster. I will embrace it if it means protecting those that matters. In that same vein, I put my enemies where they belong; grounded to atoms,"

Hood relaxes his stance but still battle ready, "You'll be judged,"

Danny's smile is positively savage, "Who would dare judge me?" He then asks again, "So please, tell me. Where is this Joker? I have people who wants to see him,"

Hood turns his helmet as if looking at Danny in confusion, "I thought you want him dead?"

Danny chuckles but the sound feels cold to the ears, "Dead? Don't take me for being so kind. No. I want him to suffer," He growls, "I want this joke of humanity to suffer every break, every shatter, every agony, every burn, and every seconds of terror and despair that my son felt as he died in that damnable flame. I want him to beg for mercy. For that, I must first cure him of insanity. No. I'll give him the clarity all will feel upon death. He will beg me for death, and when he finally breathe his last, he will beg me for life. But neither death nor life can bring salvation for what I have in store for him," He smiles, all trace of bloodlust gone from his face, "So...where can I send my doctor?"

He gestures at Minato who snorts, "I'm an assassin, not a doctor,"

Danny waves his hand, "Details,"

A familiar voice warns him, "Killing the Joker is not going to fix anything,"

Danny looks at Batman, "I...am not going to kill him. Didn't you hear? I want him to suffer,"

Hood answers, "He should be in Arkham Asylum. That was where he usually ends up in,"

Danny nods, "Only to break out after," He points at Minato, "Follow the Hoard, fix his laughing problem, and then...let them have him,"

Minato disappears before anyone could react, "Yes, Father,"

Danny smiles, "Now...I will enjoy the sound and sight. Good evening,"

The family disappears from the restaurant.

~

By the time Batman reach the asylum, he sees all the foliage dead and the building looking even older. Hood races in and sees a hoard of silvery shades all gathering at the cells where they hold the Joker. The man is twisting and screaming as they climbs into his body by the dozens through his mouth. Names start to scratch on the walls inside the cell and when that is full, they starts scratching outside the cell. Joker's body twists and breaks and fix itself back up before breaking, snapping, and burning all over again. This process happen over and over and over. No one can stand the sound, sight, and scent. They have to move the prisoners away.

Someone wrote a title for all the names that darkens the halls of Arkham; Victims of Joker.
