Chapter 3: Floral And Fading.

"Lizzie," Ciel whispered to the blonde girl. "Lizzie, it is time to wake up."

Elizabeth slowly opened her eyes only to be met with a pair of crimson ones. She sat up and stretched her arms, yawning quietly as she did. Ciel chuckled as he watched her do so.

"What is it?" She asked turning to him.

He shook his head and turned his attention to the tea he was preparing. "It is nothing Lizzie, would you like some tea?" He asked.

She nodded her head and swung her legs to the side of the bed. "Yes, please." She said sweetly.

Ciel prepared what he remembered was her favorite, that just so happened to be his.

"We have Earl Grey, your favorite. I remember how much you like it." He said handing her a beautiful porcelain tea cup.

She took the cup and gave him a small smile. "I told you I didn't want a butler, Ciel. I do appreciate your kindness though."

Ciel sat the tea pot down and placed a hand over his heart. "If I could not do something as simple as make tea for my Lizzie, than what kind of fiancé would I be?"

Elizabeth sat her tea cup down on the bedside table and jumped to Ciel, knocking him to the ground.

Usually Ciel would be annoyed by her action, but since he missed her greatly, he wrapped his arms around her slender torso with a smile.

"Oh Lizzie, I missed you so much."

"Then why did you not come for me?" She asked, squeezing him tighter.

Ciel furrowed his brows. "Things we're, complicated. But I am here to stay. For good."

"And I am so very gl-"

"My my, I see you two are already getting reaquainted." Sebastian chuckled as he walked in.

Ciel looked up in horror at his crimson eyed demon.

"S-sebastian, have you not ever heard of knocking?" He said awkwardly.

Elizabeth stood up holding her sides from giggling too much. She turned to Ciel and watched as his cheeks burned a dark red, for a demon he showed quite a lot of emotion.

"My apologies young master, but I needed to speak with Lady Elizabeth. I assumed no one had woken her yet, so there would have be no reason for knocking." Sebastian said with a closed eyed smile.

Elizabeth finally controlled her giggles and caught her breath.

"You needed to speak with me, what for Sebastian?" Elizabeth asked.

"Well my Lady, I thought it would be highly inappropriate for you to be taken care of by a male butler, I thought you would be more comfortable with a female." He explained.

Elizabeth thought for a moment. "Yes Sebastian, I suppose you are right. Besides, it would be far more enjoyable with another Lady here. What do you think Ciel?"

Ciel nodded his head in agreement. Sebastian closed his eyes and a half smile grew from his lips.

"I shall see to it then, my Lady." Sebastian said with a hand across his heart.

They both nodded and watched Sebastian disappear from the room. When the door was shut, they both fell into a deafening silence.

"Ciel?" Elizabeth asked, breaking said silence.

"Yes Lizzie?"

"Will it hurt?"

"Will what hurt?" He asked rather confused.

Elizabeth looked down and twiddled her thumbs.

"Will it hurt when you turn me into a demon?"

Ciel looked down at her hands and grabbed them in his own.

"I will not lie to you Lizzie, it will hurt, but I will be as gentle as possible." He said reassuringly.

Elizabeth nodded her head and swallowed the lump in her throat. "When will we do it?"

"Whenever you would like." Ciel replied.

"Can we do it tonight?" She asked. "I want to get it over with soon."

"Of course Lizzie, Sebastian and I will see to it."

Ciel placed a kiss on the top of her hand and began to leave the room, when she stopped him.

"Ciel, I love you." She whispered as she grabbed his shoulder while his back was turned to her.

Ciel paused for a moment and placed his hand on top of hers.

"I love you too Lizzie," He said turning to her. "I love you so much."

He pulled her tightly into a hug, but not hard enough to hurt her. She placed a gentle hand on his head and tousled his hair.

"I missed you so much Ciel. I didn't know what to do without you. I was so lost." She whispered in his ear, her voice cracking with the last words.

"I know Lizzie, and I am so sorry. I never meant for you to be hurt. Everything was just so confusing and I wasn't sure what to do. But I swear I will never leave you ever again." He said as he rubbed circles on the small of her back.

They pulled apart and looked into each others eyes. Elizabeth had noticed how much Ciel had changed. He had grown at least eleven inches and had built up a bit of muscle. He had definitely grown into his looks. She blushed at the sight.

Ciel noticed it and brushed it off. From what he could recall, he never remembered being able to make her do such a thing, but he found it adorable none the less.

He gave her a soft smile and placed a hand over his heart. "If you will excuse me Lizzie, I have some duties that need to be taken care of."

She looked at him for a moment, taken back by his action.

"What is the matter Lizzie?" He asked quite puzzled.

"You're smiling again." She spoke softly.

Ciel looked into her emerald eyes and gave her the truest smile he could manage.

"It is because of you."

Elizabeth smiled, pleased with his answer. "Alright Ciel, I shall leave you be, have a good day." She said brightly.

Ciel was a bit taken back by her words, as well. No one ever told him such a thing, however, it left him with a warm feeling that someone cared for him as much. He smiled once more and left the room to attend to his work.

Elizabeth walked to the day bed seated by the window and sat down. It reminded her of the long year she spent doing just the same, but rather different emotions. She thought about it when she noticed something out of the window.

It was the bluebird she had seen the former day at her own home. It perched itself onto the tree branch that had long overgrown itself. It was so beautiful. The delicate color of its soft feathers were nearly the same, if not exact, the color of Ciel's eyes. They now held so much life. They were no longer the iced blue ones that sent shivers up your spine, not necessarily in a horrid way, rather alarming.

While she was admiring the bird, a beautiful yellow cardinal flew down and landed beside it. The cardinal nuzzled its beak to the bluebird in a loving motion. Something Elizabeth had done to Ciel countless times with her head. She thought of how jealous she was of the birds. They were so care free and she truly envied them for that.

"Oh Ciel," She said as she placed a hand on the surface of the glass window. "Soon, we can fly away and be free too."
