"What do you know about the original family?"

-

The nineteen year old hunter walked the empty hallways of the hospital, looking out for the blonde who left their house in the middle of the night. He stuck his hand into his leather jacket pocket, it was the signature clothing item of the hunters, and brought his phone out to check the time. It was very early in the morning and he would be returning to the hospital in a couple of hours. That meant he had about two hours to search for the girl.

He wasn't sure where to begin, but he walked towards Luke Hemmings' room. A3.

That was the one place he needed to keep guarded the entire night. Paúl walked casually by the room, sneaking a glance into the small window to see a blonde haired boy with all kinds of tubes hooked up to him. On the door was a number pad that could only be oppened by a passcode. That would make it more difficult for anyone to get in.

He also noticed there was no one else in the room with him. The hunter stopped in front of the door, looking around to see if he could find a security camera. There was one a the end of the hallway, right in the corner with a clear view of the room. Paúl thought that if he could hack the computer systems in the building, he could connect to his cellphone and search the entire hospital from one place. It was quicker that running up and down the entire building, searching for someone who wasn't in a stationary position.

Paúl walked into the other waiting room, the one full of worried people, waiting to hear news of their loved ones. He plopped himself down on an empty seet in the corner of the room, where he was sure no one could sneak a glance at what he was doing.

He was on his phone, trying to break into the hospital's security system for about two minutes when a girl sat right next to him. She was a teenager; about sixteen or seventeen, with strawberry blonde hair and ice blue colored eyes. Her long hair was pulled back into a pony tail and she wore warm clothing that looked like pajamas, she likely didn't have time to change into something else when she had to come to the hospital with her loved one.

The hunter turned to look at her for a second before he returned his attention to the phone screen. "Hi." She said rather cheerfully, despite the fact that she looked like she had been crying earlier.

"Hola." Paúl replied in Spanish.

"Oh." She said at his response. "Uh...do you...espeak english?"

Paúl rolled his eyes before looking at her once more. Speaking in his thick Mexican accent, he replied, "I speak english. Is there something you need?" He almost wanted to reply with a typical Mexican phrase; se te perdio algo? 'Have you lost something over here?' But he didn't want to be rude.

"No." She shook her head. "I was just trying to be friendly. So..." The girl spoke in a casual way, "Are you waiting for someone?"

"My brother Jóhn." Paúl quickly lied. Being a hunter he realized lying was usually more simple than the truth. It was certainly quicker and the words came across more fluidly. His eighteen year old brother was left behind in Mexico, though Paúl made sure he didn't have to struggle with anything. He was paying his brother's college tuition while Jóhn was left to focus on his studies. His brother was the only person he had left and he wanted to protect him. "He accidentally cut his finger open."

Like Paúl, Jóhn had an english name that he pronounced in Spanish. Yón.

The hunter tried to focus on hacking into the security cameras while the girl continued talking about the person she was waiting on, her younger sister. Eventually Paúl stopped listening.

He was finally able to hack the security system and his screen flashed white before showing him views of the hospital hallways. One by one, he checked each hallway one by one until he finally spotted the girl she was looking for.

The blonde haired girl was sat at one of the tables in the hospital's cafeteria, drinking from a can of soft drink and eating from a bag of chips. She probably realized she wouldn't be able to get into the room until he could be moved out of critical condition.

Paúl rose from his seat in the waiting room, ready to go find Kylie. He turned to the girl sitting next to him and shot her a polite smile. "Thank you for being so nice to me. I am not from this country and sometimes people aren't very nice to foreigners. I have to go now. My girlfriend is waiting for me at the cafeteria."

The girl waved a short goodbye and he walked away in search of the blonde.

Ashton was in the library, still searching the hundreds of books for an answer to their problem. He was joined by Niall who had returned to offer his help after taking a nap. His hazel eyes darted towards the far end of the room where there was a clock on the wall. It was an hour after Calum went to sleep and Ashton thought to go wake him in case his alarm didn't work.

He only thought he would give it a couple of more minutes.

He flipped through the paged on one of the last books on the shelf. With that, there were only a few shelves full of books to check.

As he read off the pages, his thoughts drifted to Harley. He was sure Calum was a better option for her because, unlike him, he could take her out on proper dates, he could actually be with her, and if she wanted to she and Calum could grow old together.

Those were things Ashton would never be able to do with her.

Claire's words were what crossed his mind next. He didn't intend to be with her again, but maybe moving onto the afterlife was what he should do. It was the natural order of things.

His attention was focused back on the book he had in his hands when he saw the words 'trapping a soul in the spirit realm'. He sucked in a breath as the realization hit him. This was the information they were looking for and he hadn't been entirely useless in their search.

According to Calum's ancestor, there was a way to return from the dead, if there was a body to return to. It was a specific door with certain markings on it that if found could bring someone back to life if there was a host body. The soul in its new body would then be granted seven days of life. In those seven days, they would need to mix their blood, with that of a member belonging to the original family or else they would return to being a soul.

If they wanted Harley to get back into her own body, all their hard work would end up being for nothing if they could not find a member of the original family.

Ashton was sure it had started with one group of people, one family who had been granted powers that no normal human could have. When he was friends with Con, he had heard the stories.

All that was known about the original family was that they originated from Canada. But who knew if they were still there.

The hazel eyed boy felt like they were leaving one problem onto to fall into another one.

And all he knew was that he didn't want to lose Harley.

He disappeared from the library and found that Calum was asleep on one of the livingroom couches. Ashton saw Andrea passed out on the floor, but he gave it no importance. Shaking Calum awake, he didn't even wait for the raven haired boy to fully wake up before he asked him, "What do you know about the original family?"

okay guys.

i will go more into the original family in the next chapter. but if you guys have read the spin-off 'the hunter', then you will know exactly what is going on in terms of the original family ^.^

in case it was a bit confusing,

basically to bring a person back from the dead, there needs to be a host body. kylie used harley's. then she needs to find the correct door to open. one out of thousands in that hallway. lastly, if she wants to continue living, she must mix a drop of blood with that of a member of the original family.

again, you will know who is a member of that family if you have read 'the hunter' ^.^

but don't worry, it will also be explained in the next few chapters.

so i hope you like the update.

sorry if its not so great. i really didn't feel like updating today because my dad told us last night that the place where he works is getting shut down. so...he's basically losing his job at the end of january.

and we're pretty bummed out.

and i just wish i could do something to help out. my mum sells handmade rosaries, but she donates all the money to the church. so i'm gonna ask her if i can help her, and we can keep the money for ourselves.

but yeah.

i'll also get a job.

if i do, i most likely be on here less. so i apologize for that.

thank you for all the support.

i love you guys.

update: i might post another chapter in a few days, cause i know today's chapter was a bit short. and also, i am posting pictures of the cast in the sidebar. so check them out. this is basically how they look in my head ^.^
