"Well, you're a Quinn, blonde hair or not."

-

"Are you okay?" Calum wondered, sitting up in bed. He felt fine, except for the throbbing headache. And he remembered that he had been forced to actually poison them so that they wouldn't interfere. The only trace of the internal hurt he had caused to her body was a crimson red color to her lips that was actually small amounts of blood she was still coughing up.

Harley shook her head, a smile taking place on her swollen red lips. "Other than the fact that I spent the last two days in bed, with nothing to eat but chamomile tea, and the fact that my insides felt like they were burning, I'd say I'm fine." Calum frowned at that. He had never experienced the internal burns of chrysanthemum, but he could only imagine it was painful. He figured it felt like the roaring fires of hell and there was no way to turn it off except by drinking chamomile tea. But the fire would not go down without a fight.

"She practically ran out of bed when she was told you'd be waking up today." Ashton informed the raven haired boy, though he did not seem too pleased about the whole situation. He couldn't understand why it was that he could hurt Harley and she was willing to forgive him so easily when Ashton would never hurt her.

"Don't be exaggerated, Ashton." Harley told the apparition by her side. "I'm feeling so much better today, that is why I got out of bed. I even had the energy to dye my hair." She twirled a strand in between her fingers

Just then, the door to the bedroom swung open and in stormed an angry young woman with blue eyes and dark brown hair. She was Hazel Quimby and she was ready to make Calum pay for almost killing her brother. "You're finally awake. I have a score to settle with you, Column." Hissed the Canadian.

But she was stopped by Calum, who raised a hand and she was pushed back like a rag doll before she could even get close enough. "Its Calum. And I already apologized to Jack, he was fine with it." Calum explained while Hazel remained on the ground, her blue eyes shooting daggers at him. "Maybe you should get over it as well, since you weren't the one I almost killed. I thought Canadians were nice people. I'm feeling victimized by you right now." He told her with a smirk.

"You'll feel more victimized when I kill you." She warned him.

"Relax, Haze." Harley begged.

Hazel looked at the young woman who looked so much like her, saying, "I know he's your friend, but my brother is my family. As shifters, we are very loyal to the people we love and he messed with Jack. If he messes with Jack, he messes with me."

"You think I'm afraid of you?" Calum challenged. "Bring it on, Quimby."

Having heard his sister's yelling, Jack entered the room as well. Hazel got back on her feet and he pulled her behind him, turning towards her and placing his hands on her shoulders as he spoke. "Haze, didn't I explain to you that Calum was only trying to help Harley? And nothing happened to me, so there's nothing to be upset over. Soon we can leave this place and start a new life somewhere else, where you won't have to see him again."

"But I want revenge." She whined.

"That's not the Hazel I know." Jack pointed out.

"Okay." Hazel finally sighed in defeat. "I won't kill him, even though he's so horribly annoying." A small smile appeared on her lips.

Still, she pointed at an object on the nightstand with her index finger. It lifted in the air effortlessly and she pointed it in his direction. It was an alarm clock that his him in the chest hard.

Calum winced in pain.

"I guess we're even now." Hazel said. Both she and Jack left the room. As she passed the door, he lifted one of his shoes and chucked it at her, hitting her in the back. Before she could respond, he had the door close and lock behind them.

Harley giggled. "I missed seeing you act like that."

It was another day of rest before Calum had the energy to get out of bed. Harley had gone back to her own house close by and the hunters were surprisingly welcoming while he recovered. He thought they felt pity for him and would return to their hostile ways after he was perfectly fine. Or maybe they were grateful at the fact that thanks to him, Hazel and Jack would probably be leaving.

But to say in truth, Calum was genuinely surprised that Hazel and Jack hadn't left yet. He thought they'd be back in Canada or in some other part of the world by then. Walking down the stairs of the house and finding them on the couch, he asked bluntly, "Why are you two still here?"

Jack shrugged, and Calum noticed there was heavy bandaging around his wrists. "Haze wants to finish school here."

"And," His sister added, matter-of-factly, "I like St. Genevieve's. Luke's been trying really hard to date me and I'm thinking of saying yes."

"I thought you and Michael had a thing." Calum asked. At least he hadn't been the only one who noticed.

Hazel sighed. "I was hoping. But he's too hung up on Harley."

"You need to be strong." Calum tried to sound encouraging. Of course, he only wanted Michael out of the way for his own benefit. Sure, Michael and Harley were siblings, but that obviously wasn't stopping him from loving her. He needed a definite end to that problem. "Let him know you're interested and that you can help him get over Harley." He added.

"He won't get over it as long as he doesn't want to." Hazel pointed out. "I can't wait for him forever."

"Okay." Calum sighed. "I'm feeling much better, so I think I'll go home."

Jack waved goodbye, but Hazel didn't, not that it mattered to Calum.

Before getting in the car, he thought about visiting Harley, but then decided against it. She had spent the last couple of weeks surrounded by people, and always wanting to be around Jack. Calum thought it would be best to let her have some time to herself.

At Harley's house, she was all but alone. Ashton was there with her. "I cringe just remembering how annoying I was just a few days ago." She said to her ghost friend, who stood by the doors that led out to the balcony.

"The important thing is that you're back now."Ashton smiled.

She nodded, "I'm so grateful for you and Calum."

They were just going to continue their conversation when Harley heard her mother's voice calling to her and her brother from the bottom floor. "Harley! Billy! Come downstairs. Your father and I have a surprise for you." She said, and Harley could clearly detect the excitement in her voice.

"What do you reckon the surprise is?" Ashton wondered.

Harley shrugged a response. "I have no idea, but come with me." Her hand reached out for his.

But he shook his head. "If your mum sees me, you'd get in trouble."

"You're right." Harley bit her lip, thinking about what could happen if Harleen saw Ashton there. "Wait for me here, I'll be right back." She told him.

The girl with jet black hair with blue at the bottom met with her older brother at the top of the stairs. It was the first time he had seen her in days, since she had been sleeping at Dempsey's house. Pointing at her head, he wondered. "What happened to the blonde hair? You were actually starting to look like a Quinn." He joked. "Now you look like a wannabe punk again."

"Shut up, Billy." She pushed her brother playfully. She always thought she didn't fit in with her family. They were all blonde and perfect, and she felt like she wasn't. Her family reminded her of those American television shows in which the families were all-American and perfect. Always smiling, always happy. They lived in the closed off world of a normal human. Even her mother, who had the same gifts as her. Rolling her eyes at her brother, Harley added, "I hate having blonde hair like you."

Her brother ruffled her hair and she laughed. "Well, you're a Quinn, blonde hair or not."

Harley bit down on her lip. If only he knew, she thought to herself.

The two reached the living room together to find their parents already there. She and her brother sat on the couch, across from the one where their parents sat. Harleen took a deep breath before starting, but the smile broke out onto her face quickly. "You two are already grown up, so I'm hoping you will take this with maturity."

"What are you talking about?" Billy chuckled.

"What your mother is trying to say is—" Their father began, but was cut off by an excited Harleen.

"We're having a baby!" She exclaimed, deciding to blurt it out.

Both Billy and Harley's blue eyes widened in shock.

Harleen was right, the news was definitely a surprise.
