"When I named him..."

-

Calum clenched his fists tightly, he wanted to push Jack away, to tell her to snap out of it. But he was feeling powerless to help her. At the same time, she looked like she didn't want to be helped. In her delusions, she was perfectly happy with Jack. His dark eyes met with those light hazel ones that belonged to Ashton. The two seemed to communicate with just one look.

Does it hurt you as much as it hurts me?

It was a different kind of pain, the one Michael felt. For him it was forbidden to feel that way, but he felt it anyway. He didn't know how to make it stop anyway.

His cellphone vibrated in his pocket, and Calum reached to get it. Holding it up to see what notifications it had for him, he saw there was a text message from Niall. When he opened it, his eyes scanned over the screen, every word registering in his brain. They wanted him to meet them at the pavilions where the seniors had lunch. They wanted to be in a place where they didn't have to be around the hunters and since Dempsey was a third year, she wasn't allowed at the senior pavilions. Since she and Paúl were inseparable, Calum figured he was having lunch with her in the cafeteria.

They were the other reason why the rest of the students weren't interested in Billy and Harley anymore. There were the hunters; Michael, Dempsey, and Paúl, the originals; Hazel and Jack, and Calum's european shifter friends; Niall and Andrea. Seven new students, most of them in the same grade, all in one semester.

Calum would have been able to see the advantage of Harley no longer being as sought after as she once was, to his advantage. But now that she was no longer herself, nothing mattered to him.

Seeing her with another caused him so much pain that he chose to take the easy way out and run away. He would go meet up with Andrea and Niall, he would probably aoid Harley for the rest of the day, and then he would hurry home where he would do anything and everything to find a way to fix her.

Michael opted to do the same, only he went to go find Paúl and Dempsey. Ashton stayed, though he disappeared into the air and watched over her from a distance. And Hazel, finally feeling like she was third-wheeling, went to find someone who would want her company. That wasn't hard to do since she was a new student. She went to the fourth year pavilions where Luke, Cindy, Billy and their popular friends were sat. As she approached them awkwardly, Luke asked her, "Why so lonely?"

She shrugged, "Harley was hanging out with my brother and I didn't want to third-wheel it."

Cindy's face contorted in disgust. "I thought you guys were cousins."

"Yeah," Hazel nodded, "We're...uh...second cousins. My grandfather and her grandmother were siblings." She lied. "Second cousins can date, right?" Billy didn't say anything about them being related. Before Hazel and Jack had joined St. Genevieve's, they had mind-controlled him to believe the Quimbys were his second cousins on his mother's side of the family.

"Its still pretty strange." Cindy said.

"So Hazel," Luke grinned, "Want to sit with us?"

Hazel contemplated the offer. But she looked at the lunch table, there were two that had been pushed together to form one, and that was where the populars were sat. Crinkling up her nose, she pointed out, "There's no room."

"Ah, but we can solve that in a second." Luke told her cheekily, "You can sit on my lap." Billy didn't seem to mind in the slightest that Luke had been trying to get Harley just last week, and now he was going after his cousin.

The Canadian student blushed. "I'd rather not."

Cindy giggled, "He's only joking." And looking to one of the girls sat at the table, she said in a sickly sweet voice, "Erika, could you maybe go somewhere else so Hazel can sit." The girl nodded, picked her tray up and was on her way, not even questioning Cindy in the slightest. If Hazel didn't know any better, she'd have thought Cindy had the same powers she did. But she doubted it. What Cindy had was the power of popularity.

Hazel had quickly learned that the Hemmings twins; Cindy and Luke, were the ones who ran the school. Whatever they said was practically the law at St. Genevieve's and whoever they wanted to have as part of their inner circle became a part of it. Whoever they wanted to banish, was forever banished in their cruel little high school society.

The dark haired, pale faced, Canadian took the seat that had been once occupied by Erika and spent the rest of the lunch hour with the popular kids.

When the final bell rang that afternoon to dismiss the students, Cindy stopped Hazel and Harley, who were in the same last period class, and wondered if they would be showing up to practice. She had also invited Dempsey Johannsson, who was forced to take on a sport or a club activity as required by the school's curriculum.

They all headed to cheerleading practice together, where Dempsey reluctantly agreed to join so that she could keep an eye on Harley. Paúl had been granted an extra afterschool shift as an assistant coach for the soccer team, and Jack had been allowed to try out for the team, since he was a new student. Ir worked out conveniently for everyone, given that the boys soccer team practiced on the south lawn, where the cheerleaders also practiced.

"Okay, so..." Cindy began once they were done with their stretches. "I was thinking Harley and Hazel could be bases for Dempsey, and Andrea could be her back-spot. Oh my gosh, we have a whole other stunt group. Yay!" She clapped her hands together cheerfully.

"She's not very bright, is she?" Hazel mumbled under her breath about the blue eyed blonde named Cindy Hemmings.

Andrea stifled a laugh.

"I've learned to live with it." Harley sighed, her eyes trained on the other side of the field where the boys were running some drills.

"And," Cindy brought up, completely out of the blue, "How cool is it that all of you are from different countries? Harley from Australia, Hazel from Canada, Dempsey from America, and Andrea from England."

"Definitely not the brightest crayon in the box." Andrea agreed.

The new girls were urged to learn the dance routines that day, since they would be cheering for the soccer team that night at a home game against POLAHS. Practice ended with two hours to spare, in which the girls were allowed to go back home to shower and get their hair done for the game. Hazel, Andrea, and Dempsey left with Cindy to her house. She had the uniforms of the past three years that she would let them borrow, which would have to do until theirs came in the mail.

That left Harley to head home with Jack, which she didn't mind doing.

Back at Calum's house, he was sat in the family library, going through the books once more. His cellphone, which was on the desk, kept vibrating with text messages of his soccer team mates, wondering if he would be showing up.

Calum had other things to worry about though.

Ashton materialized in the room full of shelves stacked to the top with books. The raven haired boy looked up to meet his gaze. "What do you want?" He spat.

"I was thinking...what if her dad...what if Arthur could help us fix this?" He put out a suggestion.

Having been lingering in the space of the room, Claire's spirit appeared before them as well. "Do you mean...Arthur Vega?" She said the name for the second time ever. The only other time she had said that name was when...

"You know him?" Ashton asked, intrigued.

Now she also had Calum's attention. "How could you possibly know Arthur?"

"When I named him..." She whispered.
