Double Surprise
Hey guys! I know it has been a long while since I had last given you an update but fear no more. There is more.
I was a bit preoccupied with my book series "The Fairy Guardian" that features three consecutive books and now that that series is over, I can finally give you a few updates.
Also, don't be too surprised, as I was writing my series, my writing skills became so much better so you will find a complete difference in the writing style but hopefully, for the better.
Lastly, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 1.04K! THAT'S INSANE WOAH! Also, I had noticed that a ton of people has this book in a playlist and boys, you are legends. Thank you for your ultimate support. Honestly, I wouldn't have bothered with this book if it hadn't gotten this kind of support so without further ado, here is a new short angsty story, "Double Surprise".
P.S.
There is an easter egg in the one-shot. Those who find it will have a shoutout next chapter!

"I am sure he will be here any minute, Sam." Tucker sat on Danny's bed, fiddling nervously with his PDA. Sam was pacing in front of him, holding a birthday hat. Jazz was on a stool, putting paper garlands and birthday decorations on the walls and ceiling. On the wall opposite to the window, lied a banner with 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DANNY!' written on it with bubbly letters.
"I don't know, Tucker. He said he was coming at ten PM." Sam sighed, before she flopped on his bed next to Tucker.
"It's not like ghosts have a timetable. He probably ran into one on his way here. Give it some time." Tucker said. He realized that not only was he trying to reassure Sam, he was trying to reassure himself. No matter how much he pretended he was cool and laid back, he still cared for his half-ghost best friend.
Jazz quietly worked on the decoration. She hadn't spoke much ever since the clock had striked ten. Sam and Tucker found her scary when she wasn't in her usual talkative demeanor. She just worked on her own, eventually parting her sealed lips to ask about the cake, the soda and the candles. She wasn't even pushing them to help anymore. She wanted to have as much work as possible, so she could occupy herself with anything other than her thoughts.
"Jazz, you are scaring me," Tucker eventually broke the tense silence, "I seriously wouldn't mind it if you started talking about your psychological.. thingy things." In different circumstances, she would never turn down the offer, but she didn't feel like speaking about anything to anyone. At least, other than Danny.
"Have you tried calling him again?" She ignored Tucker's offer. Sam sighed and snatched her phone from the nightstand. She tried to call him. She eventually reached his voice saying: "Hey, this is Danny.. or whatever, listen, I am busy. Leave a message and I will try not to ignore it.".
"Not answering. You know how he is.. He doesn't answer his phone when he is busy.." Sam said.
"I am tracking his phone. I can't wait any longer." Tucker stood up and started to press various buttons with his PDA. He stared blankly at the screen.
"Tucker?"
"He is here. Positions." Jazz quickly stepped off her stool, taking a proud glance at her work. Tucker, Sam and Jazz slipped behind his bed and waited eagerly for their ghostly friend to appear.
Danny climbed on the window and opened it. He lost his balance and fell inside his room. He groaned and continued to lie on the cold ground for a minute. Sam, Jazz and Tucker peaked but they couldn't see a thing. They heard the drawer of his nightstand open then the clutter of a metal box.
"Gotta' call Tucker and cancel with him." Danny muttered, which Tucker, Jazz and Sam couldn't hear. Danny let out a rigid breath before he called with his phone. Tucker's phone immediately started to ring with an 8-bit videogame music tune. Danny was so startled he jumped to the back and hit his back on the wall. He switched on the lights.
"SURPRISE!" Jazz, Sam and Tucker beamed as they revealed themselves. Their excitement started to die down as soon as they saw his condition.
Danny was deathly pale. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead and stuck his snowy white hair to his skin. He was clutching his side, failing miserably to stop the bleeding. His nose was bleeding with green ectoplasm. He stared at them with his glassy eyes like a deer caught in the headlights. He fell on his knees.
"H-hey, cool party!" He tried to smile.
"Danny!" Sam was the first one to recover. She sat beside him, holding his arm so he doesn't flop on his face. Jazz and Tucker followed.
"What happened?!" Jazz asked.
"Jazz!" Tucker exclaimed.
"Right. Help him on the bed, I'll fetch the first-aid kit." Jazz said and grabbed the kit from the half-opened drawer. Sam and Tucker threw his arms around their necks and helped him on the bed. He cried in pain when his back made contact with the soft mattress.
"What are you going to do?" Sam asked.
"Don't worry.." Jazz said, trying to reassure herself as much as she was trying to reassure them, "I've done this a lot. I just need his supplements so he could heal faster, but they are in Mom and Dad's lab."
"I can sneak in. The cabinet?" Jazz nodded, even when he refered to something so vague. He ran downstairs.
The fentons weren't home. As far as Tucker knew, they had a shipment they needed to receive from the goverment so they could try and hunt Danny with the 'Guys In White'.
He ran downstairs and found an electronic lock on the door with a six-digit passcode. Tucker didn't need to hack the password, Danny had already told him the number. Pressing on the numbers '342004'. He entered and he headed for a cabinet without hesitation. It creaked open, revealing glowing green pills. He took them, closing it. He gave the pills a small glance before he headed upstairs.
He remembered Danny, coming to school with these, telling him that his dad had made a new improvement to the 'ecto-dejecto' and changed it into pills that can normalise a weak rate of healing in ghosts and makes them generally strong. He was ecstatic.
He hoped he would be ecstatic today, too. It was his birthday. They were supposed to surprise him. Turns out, they were the ones being surprised. Double surprise.
He would do anything to let Danny be happy in his birthday and definitely not in agony. The cut in his side seemed deep enough, but it wasn't a stab, thankfully.
He ran up the stairs, taking two steps at a time until he reached there. By the time he had reached Jazz, she was bandaging him with Sam. Danny seemed exhausted. Tucker sighed. He gave Jazz the supplements.
"Sorry I ruined the birthday surprise.."
"What actually happened? Who did this?"
"I was at Axiom, where my mom and dad and the 'Guys in White' were meeting up to give them the stuff. There were tasers, ecto-guns, all sorts of stuff that hurt. They almost caught me because they installed ghost radars in their suit. One of their 'boomerang' like.. spiky thingies hit me. That wasn't even the last of it."
"How?" Sam blurted out. She mentally cursed herself for pushing her best friend to say more. He seemed nonchalant about it so far.
"Skulker came. He needed something for a new weapon to skin me with or something. I tried to stop him so he punched me. Yeah, cool day, nice day. We're cool." He mumbled. Jazz, Sam and Tucker exchanged glances.
"We can celebrate your birthday when you rest." Jazz said, giving Danny the pills. Danny stared at them for a second and Tucker slapped his forehead.
"I totally forgot to get water. Sorry, man."
"Oh, no. It's alright." Danny took the pills on a dry throat. "We can celebrate it now, unless you wanted to dance or anything.."
"No, it's cool. We can eat cake and play videogames. Maybe watch a movie of your choice." Danny smiled.
"Sure. That sounds amazing!" Jazz squeeled in excitement.
"Let the celebration begin!" She said. She ran outside of the room to get the cake. Daniel chuckled.
"She is very excited for your birthday." Sam said, placing her hand on his shoulder. She immediately blushed and was about to retract her hand when he placed his hand on hers. He liked the silent comfort she always brought him with her gestures.
Jazz came back with the cake on a tray. Sam adjusted the pillows so Danny could sit up and they all sung the 'Happy Birthday' song together. Danny only smiled and sung halfway through before realizing it was too awkward. After they are done, Danny exclaimed:
"Why hadn't anybody put a rule for the person being sung the happy birthday song to? Do we sing or do we smile or what?" They all laughed. Danny chuckled with them, though it seemed like a great effort for him, "No, I am serious!" He smiled.
"Well, this is your special day so you decide what you do. Write your own rules, little brother." She stroked his cheek. He giggled.
"Alright." He said. Sam, Tucker and Jazz brought their own presents and gave them to Danny. Danny opened Jazz's and found a 'Danny Phantom' plushie.
"I know your old one was destroyed as soon as Dad spotted it in your room so I got you a new bigger one!" Danny hugged Jazz and thanked her generously.
Next was Tucker's gift, which was a videogame series Danny had always wanted.
"Dude, 'Need or Greed' Part one, two and three? You are the best, man." He gave him a brotherly hug.
Last was Sam's. It was a package for an engine?
"I know your patrol scooter broke down. I decided to fix it for you. It is already fixed and repainted but since I can't bring it up to your room, I can show you the pictures. Danny awed.
"Woah! It has my emblem on it!" Indeed. It was black with white and electric blue accents. His 'DP' logo was on the wheels and the back. It looked brand new, since its paint was chipped and scratched before. "Are you even sure you didn't buy me a new one?"
"Well, the rules said you don't like expensive presents so, no." Jazz shook her head.
"Wait, you guys helped?"
"Of course. It was a big project but we made it work. We even had Mister and Missus Fenton participate in placing the new engine."
"Best birthday ever!"

The next day, Danny got ready for school. He was feeling a lot better. The supplements were crazy good, providing him with fast incredible healing. He was sure it was still going to scar, but he didn't mind.
He got to his new scooter when he found a small box inside it. It had a small note:
You said you needed some luck, so here is my lucky charm bracelet. I know you are not a fan of accessories, but you can always keep it beside your bed somewhere.
And don't worry, Grandma made me a matching one, so we can be twins, haha.
Sam.
Danny smiled as he fiddled with it. He thought about Sam's suggestion, about putting it in his room, but he decided to wrap it around the scooter's handle. He rode on it and headed for school.
