Hailey's age: 3 y/o

Dan held Hailey on his hip while Phil grabbed the bags. This was the first time Phil and Dan had a night out, and they were even spending the night in a hotel.

Thier friends Zoe and Alfie were watching Hailey.

"Phil, do we have to leave our angel?"
Phil came downstairs laughing.
"Dan she'll be fine. Not to mention our friends want a baby, so babysitting one is gonna do them good."

Dan sighed. Hailey clung onto Dan, resting her head on his shoulder.

Phil hugged Dan, kissing his daughter on her forehead. The doorbell rang showing Zoe and Alfie.
"Remember guys to call us if anything happens."
Dan kept going over what to do in every situation. Zoe pulled Dan aside.
"Dan it's fine. You and Phil have a great date. We got this."
Dan nodded.

Phil and him held each other's hands while they left thier flat. Hailey was in the living room watching cartoons.

Alfie began making some snacks. Then he heard Zoe scream. He came into the lounge.
"Zoe where is Hailey?"
"Gee does it look like I know?!"
Zoe's voice wavered as she spoke. She left to go to the bathroom, then Hailey disappeared.
"Babe let's relax and think this through."
"Alfie she's not an infant and she can walk, open stuff. We got to find her!"

They went looking all around the house searching every room until they smelled smoke.

They ran into the kitchen to find Hailey next to the stove with some of her plastic food on top of the burners.
"Fire!" She said. Hailey was scared. Zoe picked up Hailey and ran out of the flat, Alfie following close behind her.

The firetruck showed us and so did Dan and Phil.

"Zoe what happened?"
"I had to pee, and she wandered off. We found her in the kitchen where she accidentally tried to cook some of her plastic toys so the flat caught on fire."
Zoe stopped to catch her breath. Phil took Hailey and held her close.
"Papa you're back!" She giggled.
"Hailey did you set the kitchen on fire?"

Dan tried to ask this in a stern voice. He never thought this would be something that would happen to him.
"I make dinner. It didn't work. How you do it Dadda?"
Phil looked at Dan and they sighed.

At least she was alright.

"Hailey never use the stove again, ok love?"
"Ok papa.."
She clung to Phil while Dan went to talk to Zoe and Alfie.

"Guys we don't blame you two."
"Dan I'm so sorry. Alfie and I should have done a better job."
"Zoe, Alfie you guys still want a child?"

Zoe looked at Alfie and she nodded her head.

"This doesn't happen all the time though right?" Alfie asked.

Dan laughed and nodded.

"Only on rare occasions. Hey its ok though. They usually learn their lesson afterwards. "

Dan went to Phil who held a sleeping Hailey.

"Wanna take her to the hotel?"
"Sure Dan. Why not."
They drove to the hotel. Dan leaned over and whispered to Phil.
"And you said everything would be alright. Well you're right. It is alright."
