A/N this is a Harry Potter au because I thought it would be cute. Also Dan is muggleborn. This ties in with the story. So here we go!!!!!!! *insert Phil Lester background music here*

Dan's POV

I had Defence Against The Dark Arts with Professor Lupin. I had it with the Gryffindors (Dan's a Slytherin). My best friend Phil was in Gryffindor. We were picked on because it was weird for a Slytherin to like a Gryffindor. We were considered as the mean house to them. Phil, however was different. He saw the good in people for who they were and I loved him for that. Back then in the early 90s when we were both in 6th year, it was weird to be LGBT+ because everyone followed the traditional boy girl relationship.

Anyway, I met Phil at the door as we walked into the extremely hot classroom.
"Okay, class. Today we're going to be doing bogarts. Form a line."
There was lots of pushing and shoving until a line was formed with Fred Weasley at the front. He went through all of the Ridikkulus things and so did everyone else. I was next and Phil was behind me.

I stepped forward with a shaky breath as Lupin opened the wardrobe. Phil walked out of it. It wasn't the Phil I knew though. He walked out and started breathing heavily.

"You don't deserve friendship. You're a mudblood. Nobody loves you. Do you think me, a Gryffindor, would ever like you. You're nothing..."

'Ridikkulus. R-r-r..."

"Riddikulus!" I heard Phil shout.

I ran out of the classroom. I heard footsteps following me.

"DAN! Dan. Come on... Please. Talk to me." Phil yelled.

"I'm sorry Phil. I know you don't like me. I know I don't deserve friends. I'm nothing...''

Before I could say more, Phil wrapped his arms around me. I cried into his shoulder as he held me.

"You're not nothing. You're everything to me Daniel James Howell. You're not a mudblood. You have a great family who love you. You deserve friends. I don't deserve you Dan." He said with so much love and comfort in his voice.

"That's not true Phil."

''It is. Believe me. Can I tell you something? "
I nodded.

"I love you Dan."

Tears poured out of my eyes as I choked out: "I love you too."

We hugged in a tighter embrace. I closed my eyes and took in the moment before looking up at Phil as he took me to Madame Pomfrey to get me cleaned up.
