I was staring at the ceiling when he texted me. It was 1:25 when he did.

I jumped at the foreign sound.

PhiltheAmazing: Hello!

DanShouldbeonFire: Hi

PhiltheAmazing: You're awake! I hope I didn't wake you!

DanShouldbeonFire: No, I was up.

PhiltheAmazing: Oh, good!

DanShouldbeonFire: Yeah, I guess.

PhiltheAmazing: Action and romance, do you have any siblings?

DanShouldbeonFire: Yeah, 2, one related brother and a friend that I have been with for forever, so I count his as a brother. Do you?

PhiltheAmazing: Yeah, one, and I told him something and he's never around now. What's your place in the family? (Oldest, youngest)

DanShouldbeonFire: Oldest, who do you live with?

PhiltheAmazing: Mom and Dad, what grade are you in?

DanShouldbeonFire: 10th, how about you?

PhiltheAmazing: 12th, how long do you usually stay up?

DanShouldbeonFire: 3 some nights, why?

PhiltheAmazing: So I can know how long I have to talk to you.

DanShouldbeonFire: I have been for 2 years now.

PhiltheAmazing: How?

DanShouldbeonFire: What do you mean?

DanShouldbeonFire: Because all my family left me.

DanShouldbeonFire: My parents just up and left me one night without a word.

PhiltheAmazing: That's horrible!

DanShouldbeonFire: They've done it before, but this time they didn't come back, but I'm fine.

DanShouldbeonFire: Yeah, we all have our ups and downs. I keep getting told that with my family leaving it shaped me into the person I am today, but I don't believe it.

PhiltheAmazing: Really?

DanShouldbeonFire: Really.

DanShouldbeonFire: What does it matter?

PhiltheAmazing: Just asking.

DanShouldbeonFire: Now what?

DanShouldbeonFire: Considering you asked me if you woke me up and when I usually go to sleep.

My phone buzzed, it was PJ.

PJ: Hey, you up?

Dan: Yeah, why?

PJ: Do you want to do something tomorrow?

*Buzz* PhiltheAmazing: Yeah

Dan: Yeah, why, where, and when?

PJ: (why?) My friend I want you to meet, PJ, asked me to meet him tomorrow at (when) 16:30 at (where) the café across from the city park.

Dan: I guess I'll go, but I'll have to leave at 17:30 at the latest.

*Buzz* PhiltheAmazing: I have another question.

PJ: That's fine, you want me to pick you up?

Dan: No, I'll walk.

PJ: Okay, see ya

Dan: Bye

PhiltheAmazing: Yeah

PhiltheAmazing: I have another question.

DanShouldbeonFire: Yeah?

PhiltheAmazing: When's your birthday?

DanShouldbeonFire: Why do you need to know?

PhiltheAmazing: 'cuz I want to know.

DanShouldbeonFire: June 11th, yours?

PhiltheAmazing: January 30th

DanShouldbeonFire: That's not that far away.

PhiltheAmazing: Dan it's almost 3 months away.

DanShouldbeonFire: Who said you can call me Dan?

PhiltheAmazing: Sorry, didn't mean to make you mad.

DanShouldbeonFire: You didn't, I was just messing with you.

PhiltheAmazing: Oh good, I thought that I really hurt you. So, can I call you Dan?

DanShouldbeonFire: As long as I can call you Phil.

PhiltheAmazing: Deal, hey I'm gonna go to sleep.

I checked the time, it was 2:30. We have been talking for almost an hour

DanShouldbeonFire: Yeah, good idea, I have somewhere to be for once tomorrow.

PhiltheAmazing: Yeah, me too, not too excited about it.

DanShouldbeonFire: Oh sorry.

PhiltheAmazing: Don't be, I chose to do it.

DanShouldbeonFire: That's what happens to me most of the time. Good night then.

It just occurred to me that they didn't have Kik back whenever they were this age... just go along with it... please?
