Chapter 14: Dinner

*This is a warning, this chapter holds a spoiler for a book called The Outsiders by SE Hinton, and if you haven't read the book or seen the movie I suggest you do both of them right now because it is a very good book and a very good movie. I will put a warning before the paragraph that holds the spoiler. Thank you and you're welcome.*

(Phil's POV)

I was crying, sitting on Dan's floor, bawling my eyes out, hoping that he couldn't hear me. They say real, tough men don't cry, but I think that's a lie. Everyone cries, man or not.

It didn't take me long to pull myself together, prying myself off of the floor to get myself settled. I didn't really want to unpack much because I didn't want to seem like I was going to stay forever. I didn't want him to feel like I was just inviting myself in, which was actually Chris inviting me into someone else's house. Still, I plugged up my laptop and laid out my clothes on the bed to see what I had shoved into my bag. I only got two pairs of pants, one pair of pajama pants, three shirts and a hoodie, and that didn't count the clothes I had on.

I decided to go downstairs to sit with Dan after that. I nearly fell down the stairs trying to get to the kitchen. I saw Dan sitting at the table once I made it safely down the stairs looking off at the floor. He looked nervous, scared even.

"Hey Dan," I say, making my presence known.

He turned to me and smirked, "So you're PhiltheAmazing?"

My eyes went wide. "It's him," I thought, trying to gather my thoughts. "I'm guessing you're DanShouldbeonFire," He answered with a nod. "How did you find out?"

He pointed at something on the table, "It must have fallen out of your pocket when you got here," he answered.

I nodded and we just stood there in the quiet kitchen. We said nothing for what felt like hours when the doorbell rang.

"It's the pizza, I'll get it," Dan said as he walked to the door. I quickly grabbed my phone and followed Dan to the door to help.

He noticed me immediately and handed me the pizza, then he handed money to the delivery guy. I walked back to the kitchen but I could still hear the guys' last words, "You boys have fun tonight." I chucked and put the pizza down. I heard the door close and looked up to see a red-faced Dan walking towards me. That's when I broke down laughing and Dan soon joined me.

"Hey, let's go watch a movie and eat in the lounge," he said after taking the pizza and heading to the next room. I followed quickly after him.

He sat in front of the television, shuffling through DVDs that were on the T.V stand. I stood over him, looking over his shoulder to see movies such as Star Wars and The Terminator, but also movies like West Side Story and Forest Gump.

"Come on, I'm not going to be able to pick a movie if you're not helping,"

He patted the carpet beside him, telling me to sit. I did as told and sat a little too close I think but he didn't seem to notice, he just kept shuffling through the few movies he pulled off the shelf. After looking through what he had already pulled out I looked over the shelf and saw a movie that caught my eye. It was titled The Outsiders.

"Have you seen it?" Dan asked after looking over my shoulder.

I shook my head, "I liked the book though," I looked to Dan, "it made me cry, not going to lie."

He chucked, "Me too."

*THIS IS THE WARNING WE TALKED ABOUT*

I looked down at the movie cover and thought, "But you didn't cry in the same way I did." Of course, I was sad when Johnny died, but the book itself made me realize how different I was and by the end of the book I was in tears. I was different and there was no changing it, and what I would do to change it.

"Phil, you there?" Dan said while taking the movie from my hand.

"Oh, uh, yeah. I'm sorry, just... lost in thought," I said then looked down.

"Come on," he said after putting in the disk.

He pulled me up by my wrists and didn't let go until we were sat on the sofa, instead of sitting he pushed me onto the sofa.

"Don't move," and then he left the room.

By this time the commercials have started and just as the main menu popped up Dan was back with a roll of napkins, two glasses, a bottle of Ribena, and two plates.

"Hi, okay, I hope you like Ribena, if not I can go get you some water or I think I have a coke somewhere, I might have-"

"Dan it's fine, I'm okay."

He looked at me a nodded, sitting next to me. After he poured us a glass and we got a slice of pizza he stared the movie.

I instantly fell in love with the movie after the first two scenes. The movie was just like the book, a few things here and there were added but nothing too big. Again, by the end of it I was crying, but this time it was because of the movie.

I had managed to eat three slices, trying to not seem greedy I originally only ate one but a few moments later Dan was practically shoving pizza down my throat.

We watched one of his Star War movies after that The Little Rascals, I would like to tell you what the third movie was but I fell asleep before that. I woke up a few hours later to a dark room, leaning up against something warm, and moving. I nearly fall off the sofa but luckily remembered what happened and tried to think of a way out of this without waking him.

At this point he had his arm around me, how it happened is a mystery that I can only guess. I didn't know if he was a light sleeper or not but I didn't want to make things awkward between us, waking up tomorrow morning like this could make things awkward, but waking him up in the middle of the night trying to escape could also make things awkward. There was almost no way out of this I soon realized, but I still took on the challenge.

I moved his arm from around my shoulder and tried to sit up but was pushed back into my original position by Dan's arm. I looked up to Dan's face to see his eyes still closed. I assumed he had done it in his sleep but when I tried again but then I heard him mumble, "Just go back to sleep Phil, we can deal with it tomorrow I promise."

My heart started to pound, he was awake, or was he? He was gently snoring again a few moments after. At this point was had given up, contemplating why Dan wanted me to stay. I ended up falling to sleep a few minutes later, and when I say it was the best sleep I had gotten in a while, I mean it.

Hi, I'll update soon, I'll try at least.
