[Chapter 2] - Yekaterinburg

(POV - 3RD)

As one of the many hundred commandants trained for Babylonia, Kiryu was taught discipline and to keep a calm stoic mind at all times to prevent any situation from overwhelming him.

They were not taught to flee in terror but rather when the opportunity presents itself, recklessly running away with one's back exposed to the enemies is not only dangerous and but also risky.

However, that wasn't all Kiryu and the other commandants were taught at F.O.S Academy, depending on how the candidates performed in both mock drills and training courses as well as in paperwork, the level of difficulty would increase or decrease.

For Kiryu who opted to stay at the top rankings of all the classes and training sessions, not out of pride nor self-righteousness, he did so because he wants to.

Which meant everything taught to him only became harder and even more strict in schedules; he was taught how to fire a gun, dissemble and rebuild it, he was taught to fix the most basic yet complicated machines in times when no one could do so except him.

He was trained to operate vehicles including automobiles, aircrafts and watercrafts should the situation arises for him to take the wheels when others could not

He was taught how to survive for days without any sustenance, only relying on rationing what remains of his supplies to the maximum while scavenging the wilds for any resources.

He was taught and trained to hone his entire body into a literal weapon that included exerting his muscles and bones to the absolute limit, increasing its strength and durability.

Should he face against human opponents, he was taught to brutally and efficiently neutralise them with martial arts that were deemed fit for the situation and with his... unique anatomy, he was given the opportunity to learn every single deadliest of martial arts.

To the higher-ups, it didn't matter if his bones cracked or his flesh ripped, as long as he could resume fighting against the Corrupted to retake the Earth, that is more than enough.

Unfortunately, his status and rank as well as strength as the top first candidate of F.O.S only warranted isolation from every other fellow commandants-in-training, meaning he had nothing but books and his lecturers to keep his company.

Until he met Lucia and the rest of the people he would call friends.

Kiryu smiled slightly from the memories of the Constructs and even those that were once his enemies which defected to his side, specifically his side which caused every political eyes to fall onto his back which was nothing more than irritating.

Kurono was definitely the best example, while he could overpower the Constructs and personnel sent to imprison him in their own creepy little basement, their political strength was far above what Kiryu could offer alone so him decimating the former wouldn't have bode well on his team.

The fondness of those memories would soon fade away as he remembered Lucia's last words before her frame shut down from overuse and disrepair... then his cold emotions turned to slight irritation as he looked down at the task he was currently doing.

Said irritation was only growing much to his hypocrisy of keeping a calm mind.

"Damn this backwater technology." Kiryu growled internally, pulling back a finger as he got zapped again while fixing the power station.

Then again, the year is 1907 so he can't expect technology to be perfect...

Thank whatever deity out there that he managed to keep his helmet untouched which practically did everything for him as he rewired the fuses connecting to the building he was staying in on its instructions.

While his body is vastly different from an ordinary human's, he could still get cold or overheated if he's not careful, especially when he's completely alone in another world without anyone to help him in this abandoned city.

He'd also spent the last few hours cleaning up his shelter to the acceptable level of hygiene but it didn't prove too smoothly since years of untouched dust and nature caused it to pose a significant challenge... but not for long.

While there were still some overgrown plants, a tiny part within him thought the trails of vines growing over the walls looked quite aesthetic despite the situation he's in.

Kiryu bit back another curse as he got zapped again, the cold temperature and weather numbing some of the pain which led him to quickly connect every single wires together before he finally slammed the lid shut over the fuse box.

"Let there be power..." He muttered as he held the lever of the power station before pulling it down, seeing a small crackle of sparks erupting from the box.

...

Silence, then light came as the whole place lit up after decades of disuse which prompted Kiryu to take off his helmet as he took in the result of his handiwork.

At least he won't be living in utter darkness for now, though there's still the issue with food and other supplies which means attempting to contact Babylonia is going to be impossible.

There's also the situation with those strange alien entities, he didn't know what they are or what's the logic behind their existence but what he does know from a first-hand experience from fighting every single Hetero-Creatures that came to kill him...

Is that they need to die.

Other than that, he needs to secure a steady source of food and clean water before deciding his next course of actions which is to gain a leeway in this unknown world which unfortunately, sounds easier said than done.

Since this is another world where the Punishing Virus never touched upon, assuming that the continents and landscape surrounding him is still hospitable enough for wildlife to thrive, he could go and hunt himself some animals and wild plants.

However again, assuming this world is also less ravaged than his own world and retains a proper set of laws and orders then would it be safe to think to that hunting wild animals without permission would count as poaching?

At this point, the best course of action that would not warrant any forms of repercussions is probably scavenge this entire city for supplies and look around for wild edible fauna.

Again, looking at the bleakness of this entire city only lowers his chances at finding a sustainable source of food but this is Yekaterinburg which is also the largest city in Siberia so perhaps if he kept his eyes out then maybe luck will shine on him.

Then again, this place is abandoned down to its literal core so if a few animals suddenly go missing, maybe no one will bat an eye to it since there could also be predators nearby?

Decisions, decisions, now would be the best time for Lee or Lucia to interject with their own opinion, the former was blunt but logical and the latter was rational and conservative.

...Right, they've gone in space but he could still guess what they'll do if they're with him.

Liv would simply just make sure his body is in optimal condition of health while following his own choice but since the said Constructs aren't here with him now... it all comes down to him to make the last decision... he misses them already.

Hell, he would have even accepted Roland of all people to be his companion since the Ascendant can just talk on and on, listening to his own voice as he attempted to be an "actor", it certainly beats losing your mind in all this silence.

Now he even misses Alpha herself, being the original Lucia and one that constantly fought him whether or not he wore the TIGA Suit though she did mellow out the last time he saw her.

Unfortunately, his little trip down the memory lane will have to wait and he'll also need to put the food source issue on a hold right now since the blizzard had began blowing through the city and can only hope the powerlines are firm enough to hold up against the freezing winds.

The power station itself was flimsily covered with whatever large scraps of materials he could scavenge to build up a makeshift cover in case the blizzard causes the entire thing to break down from the cold and snow and reducing his efforts to nothing.

With the light issues solved for now, the next step is heat and since this is a simple apartment complex, there isn't really any fireplace for him to make a source of warmth so he had to resolve to using dry cold scraps of wooden planks and other objects as fuel.

It wasn't an ideal bonfire but it was the best he could do with whatever resources he has on hand and he certainly wasn't going to complain.

He did remember to making an opening so that the smoke and air won't get stuck inside which will result in carbon monoxide poisoning, the chilling blizzard outside is certainly not the best conditions to open any window but he literally has zero tools or equipment.

At least he managed to find multiple layers of blankets abandoned in this city, even though it looked moth-eaten down to the very threads of fabrics but still, he can't complain.

There was no use in thinking anymore so Kiryu decided to drift off to a cold, lonely sleep.

=============================

Morning came faster than he had anticipated and the blizzard outside had been reduced to nothing but sunlight and cool breezes, something he can work with when he woke up.

His breath which has been reduced to mere puffs of air due to the biting cold immediately misted in the morning light, his limbs were stiff but still moveable and none of his fingers looked darker than it should be, meaning he at least didn't get any signs of frostbite.

Kiryu stretched himself as he bathed his body in the cold albeit somewhat warm sunlight that shone through the window, the abandoned city of Yekaterinburg obviously didn't change overnight but only received an extra layer of snow at every part.

Surprisingly, the lights were still working which meant he had successfully barricaded the power station enough to shield it from the blizzard but he wouldn't count on it being an infinite source of light with enough energy to spare for his time in this place.

For the first time, not really but Kiryu truly felt stumped on his next course of actions since this world isn't his own nor is it in the past or future if that newspaper is true then the young Commandant is in another world by himself with no way to contact Babylonia or anyone.

Furthermore, if he was to integrate himself back into society then that will be an extra miles of trouble since he had no way of identifying himself as a citizen of any country without being treated suspiciously especially if he was to make a fake identity in just one day.

While fixing the power station itself had been relatively easy since the technology was so primitive compared to his times but he wouldn't count on it suggesting the entire world's technology is a backwater one.

The Commandant sighed as he sat down on the dusty chair with an equally dusty desk with a window overlooking some buildings outside, food and water can wait since he needs to sort out this entire mess by getting his own situation clear and straight.

As mentioned earlier, he is in another world with no means of communication or any technology that can break through the fabric of time and space to contact Babylonia or other factions or even the Ascendants themselves and unless Asimov managed to pinpoint his location then he will be stuck here alone until then.

Right now, he is in the old city of Yekaterinburg which is a city in Siberia though its state of abandonment is unclear, he wager it has something to do with the zombies and... the unknown beastial creature he slew yesterday.

Now that was another thing he needs to pay attention at, it did not have any resemblance with the Hetero-creatures spawned from the Red Tide and Punishing Virus and because this is another world, it probably means it has its own alien disaster.

Not good especially when he has no idea what he's up again though his blade did easily cut through the beast like nothing so hopefully he can hold his own until he finds a way home.

Most importantly, despite this being another world and him getting the sensation of being literally torn apart and stuck back together when he fell down through the sky, he still managed to don his Tiga Suit as usual and surprisingly, it repaired itself.

Still doesn't explain how he managed to fall into this world.

Anyway, the Tiga Suit is basically a heirloom to his bloodline, his past alongside his father's which he passed down to him but that also meant garnering the attention and ire of one certain Keigo Masaki who was known simply as "Evil Tiga".

His suits has three Types; "Multi", "Power" and "Sky" which correlates to different abilities.

The red-purple Multi-Type was the most basic and simple form for the Tiga Suit because it incorporates both "power" and "speed" into one form which makes it the most balanced type for combat and it came with the ability to manipulate the "light" within him as his father stated.

The red Power-Type was the second form he unlocked and excelled in maximum output of pure raw strength that came surprisingly with the ability to manipulate fire though he shouldn't really be surprised when humanity managed to turn humans into cyborgs that can bend time and space and play with the elements like it's nothing.

It also came with its own unique form of armour/weapon which was the "Delacium Gauntlets" that he can wear to expel maximum strength and the very ability of pyrokinesis.

The purple Sky-Type was the third form he unlocked and did the opposite, while Power-Type pushed his strength to the absolute maximum and over the limit, Sky-Type instead pushed his speed and agility to the upmost peak and allowing him to manipulate ice but in return, sacrificing some parts of his strength meaning this form will be used mainly for its speed.

Like the Delacium Gauntlets, Sky-Type also came with its own unique armour/weapon which was a set of boosters and thrusters attached to his legs and back for maximum propulsion which are called the "Ranbalt Repulsors", they also came with the ability to manipulate ice and fire off beams of lights and acts as a weapon as well.

Kiryu slowly took his mask off, the visor lights dimming as the Commandant sighed before placing the helmet onto the desk as he examined it for any lasting damages.

None that can be seen but he wouldn't be surprised if this thing broke down any time now, this helmet had been one of his pet projects and it had survived somehow through the tedious battles that Kiryu and the Gray Raven found themselves in.

While offering protection for his head, the helmet is also built with the latest technology available to the students at F.O.S Academy and acted as a scouter and terminal for Kiryu.

It had a wide range of functions such as thermal vision to night vision, acting as communication between various parties on the call and can scan the surroundings for a holographic geographic map that helps him navigate through the region.

It also had the capability to analyse enemy's structural weaknesses and record their fighting patterns to quickly plan a counterattack but that entire sequence will be up to Kiryu to make.

Anyway, his Tiga Suit and Sparklence are working just as normal so the same could be said for his other weapon; the GUTS Hyper pistol that was remade after his father's own late model.

Though it functioned just like a normal pistol albeit with more power in the shots at the beginning, he managed to tinker with it before turning it into his own unique custom model.

Unlike regular handguns, his GUTS Hyper doesn't use a loaded magazine as ammunition but instead, all the rounds are stored within a single large cartridge that has a maximum shot of 15 before he needs to eject the said cartridge from the compartment at the back of the barrel.

Despite being a handgun, he also built and altered the internal structures of the GUTS Hyper so that he could convert it into a carbine rifle via attaching a mod at the end of pistol that extended the muzzle and the barrel.

Additionally, the sheath that contained Lucia's old swords also stored the Guts submachine gun and there wasn't really anything unique about the firearm other than its ability to attach itself to the carbine converted Guts Hyper to form the GUTS Slam Dunk marksman rifle.

As convenient as the firearm was, the biggest issue was ammo especially when he receives it from the Engineering Force regularly but now he's in another world so his supplies are limited.

Meaning two things; he'll need to conserve ammo and use another firearm in this world if possible or create his own ammunition with whatever resources he can find and use that has the closest resemblance with the ones that made his ammo.

Nevermind that for now, he won't be using much of his ammunition that's for sure and he did prefer swinging around his sword rather than shooting his enemies dead.

Speaking of enemies, those strange white beasts with glowing purple lines were a massive unknown to him but because he didn't exactly know what they are, he'll need to investigate them on a later date with more precise details lest he comes across them again.

He did briefly scout out the entire area he was residing in before turning in for the night and fortunately, there weren't anymore of those weird creatures... for now.

However, he intended to scout out the entire city for any salvageable supplies so there's a high chance of him encountering the creatures again which means he'll need to play it safe and quiet.

On the topic of supplies, he does not have any rations on him so either he'll have to hunt or scavenge for food in this place though if he push through the hunger and just drink melted snow as water, that is if he finds no food at all then he can survive for at least three weeks.

If the situation gets dire then he'll go hunting regardless of the laws.

Kiryu put on his helmet as he stood up before making his way out to the snowy streets as the decrepit buildings loomed by the sides ominously as he scoured the area out only to see the same sight as always; abandoned houses and vehicles left behind.

His boots crunched on the snow repeatedly as he peered his head into places that appears to be former stores but the empty shelves was barren of items just like the streets outside so his expectations of finding some resources dimmed bit by bit.

Although he'd expected it, Kiryu didn't think his chances are so low and close to zero before he activated his helmet's scanner for anything interesting in the city but everything remained the same with empty buildings and crumbling ruins all around him.

Though there was a train station which led down deeper underground but he kept his expectations low as it wasn't a guarantee that he may walk across something beneficial to him.

Surprisingly, he hadn't encountered any of the white creatures but it can stay that way especially when he's descending the stairs down into the cold station underground.

Kiryu turned on his helmet's lights, illuminating the dark tunnels as he wandered deeper into the train station, grimacing at the state of everything in sight but he isn't surprised when this is a place abandoned for who knows how long.

The Commandant continued his trek through the tunnels, his footsteps echoing into the darkness as he continuously scanned for anything of note from the station while keeping his ears out for even the slightest of sounds that are not his own.

His walk took longer than he had hoped for but Kiryu soon stopped in front of a blank wall on the side of tunnel and train rails, he narrowed his eyes as his HUD picked up something hollow from behind the wall... which only extended further in.

Unfortunately, his headgear wasn't powerful enough to know exactly what was deeper inside but the Commandant was one to waste time as he took out his remaining C4s and then stuck it right on the surface obstructing the hollow backside.

Kiryu then made enough room between him and the bombs before pressing a single button on his wrist-gear which an explosion lit up the tunnels briefly as the walls blew apart.

Taking out the GUTS Hyper, Kiryu slowly entered the new tunnel that dug further into the earth with his headgear updating him every single details as it came through by the seconds.

Briefly looking around, he summarised this place to be some sort of bunker or shelter for the people of Yekaterinburg, it wasn't hard to miss all the warning signs and directions to safety.

Although this entire discovery surprised him, the Commandant continued walking through the darkness, the only light being his headgear illuminating the path in front as he felt himself walk down a slope and discover more of what was hidden in this city.

Since the illumination wasn't enough to fully light up the space further in front of him, the Commandant noted how the surfaces are all polished and flattened with some pipelines and cables lined up against the walls along with some inactive lights.

The discovery was certainly unexpected but Kiryu was willing to hope he managed to stumble upon the equivalent of a treasure trove in his situation, the surrounding features only solidified his guess that this place is a bunker which meant there could possibly be supplies left behind.

However, he wasn't exactly sure how long this place had been abandoned for so the supplies itself may be too withered and spoiled to be of any proper usage.

Kiryu kept his thoughts to himself as he found himself standing in front of a large metallic doorway that was tightly sealed up, not that it deterred the Commandant from progressing further as a flash of light materialised alongside the Tiga Suit.

The Commandant then stabbed his Sparklence Blade through the crack of the steel doors, prying apart just enough space for his fingers to slid in before he quickly gripped the other side of the door and then began to pull as hard as he can.

A loud screeching and deafening squeal permeated the silent darkness as the large doorway gave away to the Commandant's superior strength as he pried open the metal doors before feeling something in the mechanism snap as the barrier stuck itself in place.

Whether it was rust or the improper method of opening, it didn't move again as it allowed Kiryu to conveniently move through the entrance with his headgear lighting up the area again.

From what he could see, there was a fence that was aligned against the bottom layer of the floor whereas a pair of steps could be seen leading down to said layer, Kiryu delved deeper into the room before looking around repeatedly until he found what he had hoped for.

A large fuse box that had a power symbol marked on it.

Kiryu immediately walked to it, ripping open the cover as the lock futilely gave way to his strength despite being out of the Tiga Suit. He can only hope again that there was still enough power lingering inside this place for him to see what he had stumbled upon.

He flipped the large switch... nothing happened.

The Commandant frowned as he flipped it off and on again, stubborn as he finally heard the tiniest crackle of electricity and the thrumming of machinery coming back to life after unknown period of dormancy underneath the frozen city.

With a growing source of power, the room slowly brightened as Kiryu's eyes allowed him to see whatever kind of place he had found and the end results? Much better than he had anticipated.

Though the equipment and objects in this place was covered in layers of dust and cobwebs, it was unmistakably a place where Kiryu could capitalise on with the number of things left behind.

From old firearms assembly to industrial toolkits and apparatuses, the bunker was filled with boxes of unopened items which the Commandant will definitely take a look at on a later date.

Kiryu had to admit, even if this place was designed for conventional uses, it was far too convenient to the point if this entire discovery was staged but he soon ignored that thought as he looked at the lights flicker weakly with a grimace.

Before even doing anything in this place, he needs to secure a stable flow of power for this bunker to continue working properly, the machineries will also need to be examined for any flaws and defects inside them.

The Commandant took one look at the fuse box and the cables connected to it which extended back out the entrance where he walked in from before sighing internally.

There was much work to be done.

=============================

So far, this chapter isn't really anything related to the story that I will plan for the MC but more of a filler one so I hope those who are actually waiting for this story to update to keep their expectations low. Some components from main story of PGR x Ultraman Tiga have been spoiled but I don't really care since I will put them in the mainline story soon. I wasn't aware if Yekaterinburg was mentioned in HI3 but if it was then I will ignore it because if the city itself is canonically untouched in the game then this story plotline will be useless but this story is massively canon-divergent so let that be a warning.

[Revamped] - Very minor changes, nothing to worry about, I've scrapped the idea of the Sparklence Blade transforming into a greatsword and spear since I've got other plans for more weapons the MC will acquire in future chapters. Just as a reminder, the city has changed from Novosibirsk to Yekaterinburg since the former still stood in HI3.
