Once I'm out of the house I vamp speed away tracking Elena. I soon come out of the woods and I see Elena's car upside down on the road.

Chapter 12

I stop at the edge of the woods when I see Elena's car. I see something move out the corner of my eye causing me to look over and I see someone moving like they got hit and are trying to stand up. The guy stands up and starts walking towards Elena and she screams when he gets close to the car. I vamp speed towards him shoving him away from the car. "You stay the hell away from my sister!" I yell baring my fangs at him and he vamp speeds away. I vamp speed back to the car and Damon and I make it at the same time. "How you doing in there?" I ask getting down on the ground looking at her and Damon does the same. "Damon? Liv?" Elena asked "You look stuck." Damon said and he stands up. Elena grabs my hand and I hold her back. "It's my seat belt." Elena said and she starts crying. "Shh, Shh, Shh! Let us get you out of there." I say "I want you to put your hands on the roof." Elena does so. "Just like that. You ready?" Elena nods and he looks at me. I put my arms under her to catch her. "One... two... three." Damon said and he pulls the seatbelt breaking it and I catch her as she falls. "I got you, sis." I stand up with her in my arms and Damon takes her from me. "Are you okay? Can you stand? Is anything broken?" She shakes her head and he stands her up but she almost falls. "Whoa. You're fading fast, Elena. Elena, look at me. Focus. Look at me." Elena looks at him. "Okay." Damon said "We look like her." Elena said and Damon looks at me confused. "What?" Elena passed out almost falling but Damon caught her before she hit the ground. Damon looks at me before looking at Elena. "Upsy-Daisy." He picks her up and we walk away from the car that's in the middle of the road. "Road trip?" Damon asked "Hell yeah." I say "Be careful, Ástin. I don't fully trust the Salvatore. There's something else going on here." Finn said

—time skip—

Damon, Elena and I are in Damon's car on our way to Georgia to meet an old friend of Damon's. Elena is still asleep in the backseat after she passed out in the middle of the road. I hear movement in the backseat and a gasp causing Damon and I to look back at Elena. "Morning." Damon and I say in sync before looking back at the front. "Where are we?" Elena asked "Georgia." I say "Georgia? No, no, no, we're not. Seriously, Damon, Liv. Where are we?" Elena asked "Seriously, we're, we're in Georgia. How you feeling?" Damon asked "I, I..." Elena said "There was no broken bones. I checked." I say "My car. There was a man. I hit a man. But then he got up and who was that?" Elena asked "That's what I would like to know." I say "Where's my phone? Okay, we really need to go back." I roll my eyes." "Nobody knows where I am. Pull over. I mean it, Damon. Pull over! Stop the car!" Elena said "Oh, you were so much more fun when you were asleep." I say as Damon pulls over. I get out and let Elena out of the car but when she stands up she groans leaning over. I grab onto her and Damon vamp speeds to my side. "Hey." Damon said "I'm fine." She walks away from me. "We have to go back." Elena said "Oh, come on. Look, we've already come this far." Damon said

"Why are you two doing this? I can't be in Georgia. I-I wrecked my car. I have to go home.  This is kidnapping." Elena said and I scoff laughing. "That's a little melodramatic, don't you think?" Damon asked "You're not funny. You can't do this. I'm not going to Georgia." Elena said "Oh, you're in Georgia. Without your magical little necklace, I might add. I can very easily make you.... Agreeable." I say smirking a little. "What are you trying to prove?" A phone rings in Damon's pocket. "That's my phone." Elena said and he gets it out of his pocket. "Mmm. It's your boyfriend." She turns away making me smirk. "I'll take it. Elena's phone." Damon said "Where is she? Why do you have her phone? Is she okay?" Stefan asked "Elena? Or Liv? Cause, they're both right here. And, yes, she's.... Fine." Damon said and I scoff because he mentioned me. "Where are you? Let me speak to her." Stefan said and Damon holds her phone out to her. "He wants to talk to you." Damon said "Mm-hmm." Elena said shaking her head. "Yeah, I, you know, I don't, I don't think she really wants to talk to you right now." Damon said "Damon, I swear to god, if you touch her- -" Stefan said before Damon cuts him off. "You have a good day. Mm-hm. Bye now." Damon said and he hangs up.

"Good job mentioning me. I give it two seconds and he calls me." My phone rings and I look down at it and it says Stefan on it. "Told you. I'll be right back." I say "Liv, don't." Damon said "Wasn't planning it." I walk away from them out of Elena's ear shot. "Hey, Stefanie." I say "Where are you?" Stefan asked "Oh you know, here, there, everywhere." I say "Has he hurt her?" Stefan asked and I scoff. "Not with me here, he won't. He knows better. But you know I wonder how she found out about our oh so lovely doppelgänger. Hmm? Did you leave that picture of her that you have out and when you and Elena were getting back together she saw it and left you?" I ask "Liv, I-" Stefan said "Don't, Stefan. You don't get to speak anymore. You're lucky I even went to find her or she would be all by herself with Damon." I say hanging up and walking back over to Damon and Elena.

"Look, no one knows where I am. Can we please just go back?" Elena asked "We're almost there." Damon said "Where is there?" Elena asked "It's a little place right outside of Atlanta. Oh, come on, Elena. You don't wanna go back right now. Do you? What's the rush? Time-out. Trust me. The problems are gonna be there when you get home. Look, step away from your life for five minutes. Five minutes." Damon said "Am I gonna be safe with you?" Elena asked looking at Damon. "Yes. Liv would kill me if I hurt you." Damon said "Will you both promise not to do that mind control thing with me?" Elena asked "Yes." Damon and I say in sync even though he means it more than I do. "Can I trust you both?" Elena asked "Get in the fucking car. Come on." I say and I force her into the back seat before getting in the car myself.

"So, where's my car?" Elena asked "Uh, Liv and I pulled it off the side of the road. I don't think anyone will bother it." Damon said "What about that man in the road? Was he a..." Elena asked before I cut her off. "From what I could tell. Yeah." I say "And neither of you know him?" Elena asked "If I've never met him, I would not know him. I mean, it's not like we all hang out together at the vamp bar and grill." I say and we pull up to Bree's Bar, our destination. "Where are we? You brought me to a bar?" We get out of the car. "Damon, Liv and I aren't old enough they're not gonna let us in." Elena said and I roll my eyes. "Sure they will." Damon said and I shut the door walking towards him and he wraps his arm around my shoulder as we walk in the bar with Elena following behind us. We walk in the bar and he moves his arm off of me as we walk towards the bar and the bartender who I'm assuming is Bree looks at us. I felt magic coming off of her as we walk in the door. "She's a witch." Kol said

"No, no, it can't be. Damon." Bree jumps on the bar and jumps down in front of Damon. "My honey pie." Bree and Damon kiss. Soon she gets a bottle and makes an announcement. "Listen up everybody. Here's to the man that broke my heart, crushed my soul, destroyed my life, and ruined any and all chances of happiness." She puts shots in front of us. "Drink up!" Damon and I drink ours and Elena just sits there holding hers so I steal it from her drinking hers too. "So, how'd he rope you two in?" Bree asked refilling the shots. "I'm not roped in, actually, I'm dating his- -" Elena goes to say before Bree interrupts her. "Honey, if you're not roped, you're whipped. Either way, just enjoy the ride. What about you, sweetheart?" Bree asked looking at me. "Oh, we met back in New York about a year ago. Been best friends ever since." I say smiling at her. "So, how did you two meet?" Elena asked "College." Bree said and I laugh. "You went to college?" Elena asked "I've been on a college campus, yes." Damon said and he and I drink our shots.

"That makes more sense. Stef seems more of the college type than you." I say "About 20 years ago, when I was just a sweet young freshman, I met this beautiful man and I fell in love and then he told me about his little secret, made me love him even more. Cause, you see, I had a little secret of my own that, uh, I was dying to share it with somebody." Bree said "She's a witch." Bree and Damon look at me shocked. "What? I felt it as soon as we walked in." I say "He changed my world, you know." Bree said "I rocked your world." Damon said "He is good in the sack, isn't he?" Elena gets awkward making me laugh. "But mostly he's just, uh, a walk away Joe." She drinks her shot slamming it down before turning around. "So.. what is it that you want?" Bree asked "I'll be right back." I say and walk towards the bathroom checking no one's in before locking the door and turning on the sink calling Auntie J.

Auntie J
Hello?

Liv
Hey, Auntie J it's Liv.
Are you alone?

Auntie J
Yes. Why? What's wrong?

Liv
Turn on a sink or some
kind of noise source.
Tell me when you have.

Auntie J
Okay, I have. It's a sink.
Now what's going on?

Liv
I wanted to call you before Elena does
and feeds you lies and you believe them.
Last night she hit a vampire in the car.
No it wasn't Logan because I took
care of him.

Auntie J
Oh my god. Is she okay?
Where are you guys?

Liv
She's fine. Sore of course but
nothings broken. Damon and I saved her
from the vamp and we're in Georgia
at a witches bar. Stefan doesn't know
because we don't want him to know.
But him and Elena are back together
and she found a picture of our doppelgänger Katherine and she freaked and left. Leaving her vervain necklace behind so I came with her to make sure Damon didn't hurt her because I knew he wouldn't if I was with them.

Auntie J
They're back together? But okay,
I'll cover for you both pertaining
the school. Just keep me updated.

Liv
Yes, ma'am will do. But I gotta
go so Damon doesn't get suspicious.

Auntie J
Right of course. And Liv?

Liv
Yeah?

Auntie J
I love you.

Liv
Love you too, Auntie J.

I hang up the phone turning the water off unlocking the door and walking out of the bathroom to see Bree and Damon away from the bar and Elena no where to be found. "Come on, there's gotta be another way." Damon said and I walk over to them sitting down at the table. "After all these years, it's still only Katherine. How do you even know she's still alive?" Bree asked "Well, you help me get in to that tomb and we'll find out." Damon said "I already did. Twenty years ago, remember? Three easy steps. Comet. Crystal. Spell." Bree said "There's a little problem with number two. I don't have the crystal." Damon said "That's it, Damon. There is no other way. It's Emily's spell." Bree said "What about, new spell with a new crystal that overrides Emily's spell?" Damon asked and I scoff. "It doesn't work that way, D. Emily's spell is absolute, you can't get in to that tomb." I say

Damon and I walk through the bar and I hear a phone ring. I look outside at Elena who is at Damon's car. "Elena, is that you?" Stefan asked over the phone. "I'm here." Elena said "Where are you?" Stefan asked "You lied." Elena said "Not until I explain, please." Stefan said "So, you didn't lie?" Elena asked "Just tell me where you are so that I can come get you and Liv." Stefan said "How are me and Liv connected to Katherine, Stefan?" Elena asked "I honestly don't know." Stefan said "And I'm supposed to believe that?" Elena asked "It's the truth, I... Listen." Stefan said and Elena hung up. Damon disappeared from my side and he appears behind Elena making me scoff. The blender suddenly gets turned on and buttons to a phone get clicked. "Hey, it's Bree. You'll never guess who walked into my bar." Bree said and I turn around and she looks at me and she suddenly looks scared. I walk to the bar and sit down. She walks over to me. "Can I get an order of cheese fries?" I ask "Yeah sure. On the house, call it a favor to not mention what you just heard?" Bree asked "No worries. Wasn't going to anyways." I say and she nods.

-time skip-

Damon and Elena come back in getting burgers and sitting down on each side of me. "Let's just say that we're descended from Katherine, does that make us part vampire before Liv completely turned?" Elena asked "Vampires can't procreate. But we love to try." Damon said "True that." Damon and I laugh causing Elena to look at us. I decide to pretend I don't know anything and make assumptions. "No, if-if even we are related it would mean that Katherine had a child before she was turned." I say "Did Stefan think that he could use me to replace her?" Elena asked "It's kinda creepy if you ask me. Come on, what, you don't like pickles? What's wrong with you?" Damon asked and Bree walked back over with my second basket of cheese fries. "Thanks, Love." I say smiling at her. "Ástin, quit flirting with the bartender." Finn said "How can you two even eat, if... technically you're supposed to be..." Elena asked "Dead? It's not such a bad word? As long as we keep a healthy diet of blood in our system, our body functions pretty normally." I say "This nice act. Is any of it real?" Elena asked "Mm-hmm." Damon said "Here you go, honey." Bree said "Thank you." Damon said "I'll have one, too." Elena said "Hmm?" Damon and I ask in sync looking at Elena. "Time out, remember? For five minutes. Yeah, well, that five minutes is gonna need a beer." Elena said "There you go. Can I get you anything, sweetheart?" Bree asked looking at me. "No thanks I'm good for now." I say "Alright then." She said

-time skip-

Damon, Elena and I are standing beside people getting ready to do a shots race. "Ready?" Bree asked "Yeah." I say "Go." Bree said and we all drink. I beat Elena by a second slamming the glass down. "That's three." Elena said "You need a bib?" I ask putting my arm on his shoulder. "Sorry, I can't unhinge my jaw like a snake to consume alcohol." Damon said and I laugh. "Hmm, whatever. When your best friend is Caroline Forbes you learn to get used to alcohol quick. Alright. Who's next? Another round, Bree." I say "Honey, you should be on the floor." The woman beside Elena said "I am not even drunk. My tolerance is, really high." I say and I feel someone walk behind me and go to the other end of the bar. Bree walks over to him and I turn to pay attention to what Damon was saying to me. "Don't turn your back on that guy, Darling." Kol said and I move to stand so he's still in my line of sight.

Damon and I go over to the bar and Bree walks over to us. "Hey, where's your girl? And your sister?" Bree asked "Hmm. She was right back there." Damon said and we go out the back door. "Elena?" I ask and I see her phone laying on the ground and I walk over to it. Damon and I walk towards the way Elena's phone was pointing. I see Elena tied against the bottom of a tower. "Damon, Liv, no." Elena said and suddenly a vampire speeds up behind us throwing me away from Damon and hitting Damon in the kneecap repeatedly. "Elena stay!" I growl and my face transforms. I vamp speed towards the vampire shoving him away from Damon. The vampire jumps up and his face transforms too. "Damon watch Elena. Cause this isn't about to be pretty." I say "No!" Elena said and the vampire looks at her before looking back at me. "Who are you?" Damon asked "That's perfect. You have no idea." The guy said "What the hell are you talking about? What did he do?" I ask "He killed my girlfriend." He goes to go back towards Damon and I step back in front of him.

"What did she do to you, huh? What did she do to you?" The guy asked "Nothing." Damon said "I don't understand." Elena said "My girlfriend went to visit Stefan and Damon killed her, got it?" The guy said "Oh damn." I say quietly. "Lexi? Lexi was your girlfriend? She told me about you, she said that you were human." Elena said "I was." The guy said "Lexi turned you?" Elena asked and I could tell she was trying to stall me from killing him. "If you wanna be with someone forever you have to live forever." The guy said and he goes to back towards Damon. This time I ignore Elena and shove my hand in his chest. "Look, I get you want to kill Damon because I almost did after he killed Lex. I know you know who I am, you're not that stupid. She stopped me and Stefan from killing him when he killed Lex. I was as close to killing him as I am to killing you now and I walked away. I'm only walking away now because I know how much Lex cared for you and I know how much you cared for Lex." I say letting go of his heart and he vamp speeds away. Elena runs over to Damon checking on him.

Damon and I go to the bar while Elena stays outside. Bree turns around to see us standing there. "We were just leaving, I wanted to say goodbye." Damon said "Good to see you again, Damon." Bree said "No kiss?" Damon asked "I'm full of vervain. I put it in everything I drink." Bree said "And you're telling me this. Why?" Damon said "Lexi was my friend. How could you?" Damon appears in front of her when she turns around. "The tomb can be opened." Bree said "You're lying!" Damon said "Emily's grimoire. Her spell book." I tense beside him because I know exactly where that book is. "If you know how she closed the tomb the reversal process will be in her book. You can open that tomb." Bree said "And where is this book?" I ask like I don't know where it is. "I-I." Bree said backing away from Damon. "You have no idea." Damon said "No. I'm telling you the truth." Bree said "And I believe you. My dear, sweet Bree. That's why I'm almost sorry." Damon said shoving his hand in her chest taking out her heart before washing his hands of blood. We walk out of the bar and to the car.

"So, why did you bring me with you two?" Elena asked "Well, you're not the worst company in the world, Elena. You should give yourself more credit." Damon said "Seriously?" Elena asked "I don't know. You were there in the road. All damsel in distress like. And I knew it would piss off Stefan if I had both of you with me. And... you're not the worst company in the world, Elena." Damon said "I used to be more fun." Elena said and I scoff laughing. "You did okay." Damon said "Liv and I saved your life." Elena said "Technically more Liv saved his life because I was honestly just letting you talk trying to figure out who the hell he was." I say "I know." Damon said "And don't you forget it." I say smirking at Damon.

Elena drags me with her to Stefan's room when we get to the boarding house. "Hi." Elena said "Hi." Stefan said "Awkward." I say walking out onto Stefan's balcony. "You could have told us." Elena said "I wanted to tell you. Both of you." Stefan said playing into the fact that I'm pretending not to know already. "You said no more lies. Only the truth. I can handle the truth, Stefan. As crazy as it is, I can.... Handle the fact that you are a vampire. That my sister is a vampire. And you have... a vampire brother and that my best friend is a witch. I can accept the fact that the world is much more mysterious place than I ever thought possible but this... this lie, I cannot take. What am I to you? Who am I to you?" Elena asked "You are not Katherine. You are the opposite of everything that she was." Stefan said and I scoff quietly. "Please." I say quietly. "And when did you figure that out? Before you kissed me? Before we slept together?" Elena asked and I snap my head over to Stefan and he ignores me. "Before I met you." Stefan said "What?" Elena asked

"The first day of school... or the day that I attacked you in that alley way in New York that I will spend the rest of my life apologizing for." I turn around and walk back into his room at the mention of the day Elena knows the lie to. "When each of us met. It wasn't for the first time." Stefan said "Then when was it?" Elena and I ask in sync. "May 23, 2009." Stefan said and I gasp. "W-what?" I ask "But that was..." Elena said "That was the day your parents' car... went off the bridge." Stefan said "You were there?" Elena asked "Every couple of years that I come back here... to see Zach and see my home. And last spring... I was out in the woods.. by old Wickery Bridge. And I heard the accident. All of it. I was fast getting there, but not fast enough. The car was already submerged." Tears start clouding my vision. "Your dad... he was, uh, still conscious. I was able to get to him but he wouldn't let me help him... until I helped both of you." Stefan said and I gasp as the tears flow down my face. "T-the last thing I remember before I passed out was someone jumping in the water and my dad mouthing "I love you, Livvy" to me. I blamed seeing the person on me still being high or drunk from the party so I never told anyone about it." I say

"Oh, my god. When we woke up in the hospital nobody could figure out how we got out of the car. They said it was a miracle." Elena said "I went back for them. But I was too late, I couldn't, I couldn't... I couldn't save them. When I pulled both of you out I-I looked at your faces and both of you looked like Katherine. I couldn't believe the resemblance. After that, I spent months making sure that one of you weren't her and the other wasn't her twin sister that she told no one about. I went to New York not knowing that Liv was there and that's why I attacked you because I wasn't aware you went to New York, I actually thought you were her. I watched you both, I-I learned everything that I could about you both and I saw that you were nothing like Katherine and I want-wanted to leave town after coming back from New York but, I couldn't. I couldn't leave without knowing you, Elena. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you both, I wanted to but you were so sad and..." Stefan said "Why do we look like her?" Elena said and I wipe the tears from my face that stopped flowing a few minutes ago.

"You both have been through so much." Stefan said "Why do we look like her, Stefan? What are you not telling us?" Elena asked "It didn't make any sense to me. You both are Gilbert's. She was a Pierce. But the resemblance was too similar. And then I learned the truth. You both were adopted." Stefan said "How do you know this?" Elena asked "Both of your, your birth certificates from the city records. It says Olivia and Elena Gilbert Mystic Falls General. But, but there's no record of your mother ever being admitted, there's no record of her ever being pregnant." Stefan said "What else do you know?" I ask "For me to go any further, I would've had to look in to the Pierce family and I couldn't do that, it's too much of a risk. If someone found out I was asking about Katherine..." Stefan said "It could lead to us." I say and he nods.

Elena and I walk through the door of our house and Auntie J is sitting on the couch looking through a magazine. "I don't set a lot of rules, girls. Not with you two. I trust you both to tell me the truth. Where were you and why did you lie to me about it? I thought that we were closer than that." Auntie J said "Now is not the time you wanna talk to us about lies." Elena said going towards the stairs. "Don't do that. Don't turn this back on me. I didn't do anything." Auntie J said "Okay, question. Are we adopted? I trust you to tell us the truth too, Jenna. How could you not tell us? I thought we were closer than that." Elena said "Elena, she didn't, mom and dad asked her not to. They asked me not to as well." I say and she stops and looks at me. "You knew?!" Elena asked yelling. "Yeah, I've known since the first day of school when Auntie J found a letter addressed to me from mom and dad incase anything happened to them before our 18th birthday which is when they were going to tell us themselves but life had other plans obviously. In this letter it said to not tell you until our 18th birthday and I was going to stick by that, but obviously Stefan decided to tell you. So don't yell at her for going by what mom and dad wanted." I say and she storms up the stairs.
