*This is a flashback chapter of how Liv met Stefan, Damon and Katherine. It is also of how she became a vampire which she was turned by Elijah.*

Immediately after my parents funeral the court had me shipped off to a rehab center in New York for two months. It wasn't made town knowledge that Grayson and Miranda Gilbert's eldest daughter was sent to rehab even though many could guess that's where I was. After my two months in rehab was over I was able to rent an apartment and stay for a couple months before having to head back to Mystic Falls for the next school year.

(Meeting Stefan)

I was walking down the sidewalk when I was pushed into an alley with inhumanly possible speed into a brick wall making me look up at him. "Katherine!" My attacker yelled and it almost sounded like a growl. Suddenly there's veins under his eyes and he has fangs making me realize that he's a vampire from my dad and Uncle Johns stories. "My name is Olivia Gilbert not Katherine." I say and he backs away from me before looking me dead in the eyes. "Forget that this ever happened. You did not see me." He said "What the hell dude? You're just gonna compel me to forget this?" I ask "You know what compulsion is?" The guy asked "And I'm assuming you are a vampire. My father and uncle told me about them." I say "I guess since you already know I won't deny it. Yes I am, sorry for the whole shoving you into a wall. I'm Stefan Salvatore." Stefan said "Wait, Salvatore? By chance are you related to a Zach Salvatore in a little town in Virginia?" I ask "Yes. He's my uncle, why?" Stefan asked "It's a small world I guess. I grew up in Mystic Falls." I say and he looked shocked.

-time skip- (Meeting Katherine) 

I'm walking down the sidewalk when I accidentally bump into someone. "I'm so sorry." I look up and I see myself staring back at me. The girl standing in front of me looks exactly like Elena and I. I knew for a fact it wasn't Elena just by the way she was dressed and her hair was curly and Elena never curls her hair. "You look exactly like me." I say staring at her in shock. "I'm Katherine." Katherine said "Olivia Gilbert. So how do we look exactly alike? Like I have a identical twin sister and I don't think I have a triplet." I say "Let's go get some coffee and I'll explain." Katherine said and I nod following her.

We get sit down in the coffee shop when Katherine starts talking. "Do you believe in vampires?" Katherine asked "Yeah. I met one not long back and my father and my uncle told me stories about them growing up. Why? What does it have to do with this?" I ask and I see her have veins under her eyes like Stefan had when I met him. "I'm a vampire. I was born in 1473 in Bulgaria. But I was exiled by my father in 1490 and then I fled to England where I met two nobleman brothers. One of the brothers was named Klaus Mikaelson, who I soon found out only wanted me to break a curse placed on him. He wanted to kill me so he could break the curse. Klaus' brother Elijah said he wanted to help me but I didn't trust him so I fled to a friend of a friend and then I injured myself then the woman gave me her blood because she was a vampire and their blood can heal people and in which I hung myself which killed me and made me transition into a vampire. I've ran from Klaus for 500 years." I look at her in shock. "And as far as I've heard Klaus is still looking for a Petrova doppelgänger which I believe you and your twin sister are. So word of advice ever hear the name Klaus or even Elijah Mikaelson get yourself turned into a vampire. Klaus can't use you if that happens." Katherine said and I feel weird at the mentions of their names. Like I knew them from somewhere. "Thanks for that word of advice." I say "No problem. How about you give me your number so we can stay in contact?" Katherine asked and I nod. We exchange numbers and then we both go our separate ways.

-time skip- (Meeting Damon)

I was sitting at the bar when some guy walked up to me. "Katherine? I thought you were dead?" The guy asked "Hello, not dead or Katherine. My name is Olivia." I say "I'm Damon. I thought you were someone I used to know." Damon said "Yeah, Katherine got it. I had someone not that long ago think the same thing. It's starting to become a normal thing for someone to walk up to me thinking I'm some girl named Katherine. I guess said girl looks like me." I say "Yeah you both look a lot alike. Like you two could be twins but she died a long time ago." Damon said "Yeah so did the Katherine that the other guy thought I was. Maybe it's the same Katherine." I say finally recognizing him from Katherine's stories about her being in Mystic Falls in 1864 messing with both Stefan and Damon Salvatore.

-time skip- (Meeting and getting turned by Elijah)

I was walking back to my hotel room from a bar when a guy pushes me against a wall in a alley holding a knife to my throat. "Your money. Now!" The guy exclaimed "I-I don't have anything on me." I say and the guy moves the knife from my throat to my stomach. "I said your money now." The guy said "And I told you I don't have anything. Or did you not catch it the first time?" I ask which was a very bad idea because the guy drove the knife into my stomach making me gasp. The guy pulls the knife out of me and runs away. I slowly fall to the ground trying to keep pressure on the wound. It felt like hours I was sitting there trying to not bleed out. Right as I was about to pass out I saw a guy in a suit rush towards me and as I close my eyes I feel something against my lips.

-time skip-

The lights hurt my eyes when I open them making me wince. There's a guy in a suit sitting in front of me watching me. "Who are you?" I ask feeling a burning in my throat. "My name is Elijah, and you are?" Elijah asked and I feel this weird connection to him. "Olivia Gilbert." I hear noises that sound like hearts beating around me causing me to look around frantically for the cause. "What's happening to me? Why can I hear hearts beating and this weird pumping noise?" I ask "You are in transition to become a vampire. I found you bleeding out and gave you my blood in hopes of healing you, but you were already too far gone. You died causing you to transition because you had my blood in your system. Now you have to make a choice to drink human blood in the next 24 hours or you die permanently. So what is your choice?" Elijah asked and for some reason he has this frantic look in his eyes like he's worried I'll choose to die. "Vampire." I say without even thinking anything else about it. I can't leave my brother and Auntie J like that.

"Good choice. Come out please." Two people out in the room. Elijah points to the guy that is standing there looking terrified. "You can drink from him." He points to the woman beside him. "Hand her a piece of jewelry that you like to become your way to walk in the sun." I stand up from the couch taking my ring off that my uncle bought me for my 16th birthday handing it to the woman. I glance over at Elijah and he nods at the man causing me to look at him. I smell his blood pumping through his veins making my fangs extend from my teeth and the veins to come out underneath my eyes.

I speed towards him biting into his neck drinking his blood. The woman is chanting something that sounds like Latin behind me. Once the guy is dead, I drop him to the ground wiping my mouth turning to look at the witch. She holds the ring out to me and I take it from her. "You should try it out. Stick your hand behind the curtain." Elijah said and I slowly walk over to the window and pull the curtain back just enough to fit my hand behind it. I tense in anticipation to feel pain but feel nothing. "It worked." I say turning around to face them smiling. The witch leaves after I confirm that the ring works. Elijah walks over to me carrying my phone. "I put my number in there for emergencies. If you ever need help or anything, just call me." Elijah said "Thank you, Elijah. Now I'm going to find the guy that killed me and return the favor." I say smiling at him before vamp speeding out of the building.

-time skip- (couple hours after previous part)

By the time I tracked down the guy to killed me, it was nighttime. I grab him by the throat and vamp speed him against an alley wall. "Hey! What the hell?" The guy looks at me. "I- I killed you." The guy said and I make my vampire face come through. "Yeah, well it didn't take." I say before biting his neck drinking his blood. Once he was completely drained, I drop him to the ground wiping the blood off the corner of my mouth before vamp speeding back to my hotel.

This chapter is just the flashback on how she met the Salvatore Brothers, Katherine and how she was turned by Elijah.
3/13/24- I've decided to change her love interest from Stefan to the Mikaelson Brothers. They are her soulmates so there is a little mention of that in this chapter but there will be more mention in the actual story chapters.
