Emily and Kim were laughing as they watched the romcom, having decided to have a girls movie night while the boys were at a pack meeting with the elders after the shifting of the Clearwater siblings. Jacob had been told to be on patrol, and the two girls were aware that Kiara Black was avoiding the pack and everyone to do with them after the discovery of vampires.

It was getting late but they still had another hour of their film to go, so neither woman had made any attempt to get up and leave. Besides, the boys wouldn't be finished until much later into the night and they knew that it brought them more comfort knowing that Emily and Kim were together and not in seperate locations when they couldn't be with them. After the attack on Kiara and Harry, things had been more tense on the reservation. It was as if there was a looming cloud above them all to remind them that things were not as bright as they had once seemed.

Despite the ever-growing worry amongst the extended pack, both girls felt at ease during their movie night. It was the peace that they had been craving for weeks, especially after constantly having to tiptoe around Kiara with what they did or didn't say. Therefore, the last thing that either of the girls expected was a banging at the door, accompanied by a familiar voice screaming through the wood. Emily and Kim instantly sprung to their feet, the older woman rushing to open the door and invite the girl in from the thunder and lightning storm that was going on outside.

As soon as she opened the door, Emily felt a chill go up her spine. She had seen Kiara Black in many states but the look on her face was enough to make Emily's blood run cold. Usually the younger girl was happy to see her but it was like she was being controlled by some other force as she barged past Emily into the house in a fit of rage. Her hands were clenched at her side, and water was dripping from her soaked body onto the rugged floor beneath her feet. Her eyes were unfocused, darting between the two girls as she spun on the spot.

"Where are they? Where's Sam?" Kiara snarled, looking around the kitchen as she realised that none of the pack were at their pack house. Emily looked at Kim from behind Kiara, knowing that something was off with the younger girl who was now pacing the house.

"Kiara, pause for a second, what's going on? I thought you were at the Swan household? How did you get here? You're soaked!" Emily exclaimed, reaching out to try and steady the pacing girl. She almost flinched as her hands came into contact with Kiara's forearms, surprised at the level of heat that was radiating off the girl.

"I ran here, I have to speak to Sam," Kiara rambled out, instantly causing Kim to reach into her pocket, pull out her phone and dial Jared's number while Emily tried to calm down Kiara. It had become ridiculously apparent to the two girls what was happening, even if they had all believed that this was an event that was never going to occur. They'd seen the boys - and Leah - all act like this various times throughout the years, but they'd never ever expected to look at Kiara with the familiar pit of dread in their stomachs.

"Kiara, slow down honey," Emily tried to reason but it only seemed to make Kiara angrier. There was a moment before Kiara looked at Emily and froze, seeing the understanding in her eyes. She moved backwards a little as if she had been slammed into as she looked between Kim on the phone and Emily who had her hands raised in the air. "Calm down, and we can talk about it."

"Kim? What's wrong?"

Jared's voice on the phone fell on death ears as Kiara felt her stomach drop as she looked at the guilty look that had spread across Emily's face from the girl's realisation. The woman who she had begun to look at in a motherly figure had been lying to her, along with her brother and her closest friends.

"You knew," Kiara whispered, the betrayal in her voice causing Kim to look up from the phone. Her lip quavered for a second as she raised her voice in a fit of rage. "You fucking knew!"

Her voice grew louder as she yelled at Emily, the pain and anger evident in her voice. So evident that the boys on the other side of the phone had moved instantly from their meeting, feet turning into paws as they slammed through the trees towards the house, feeling the dreaded feeling in their stomachs that their imprints were in danger.

"KIMBERLY? WHAT'S GOING ON?"

Kim was too absorbed in the current dangerous situation in front of her to lift the reciever back up to her ear to answer the elders. They'd been left on the beach with no context of the conversation, other than a shifted Seth who had been ordered to stay behind by Sam before they all ran into the woods.

"Kiara, please..." Kim murmured, instantly regretting it as the girl whirled around to face her.

"They're VAMPIRES!" Kiara screamed, heaving as she tried to control her anger. "You guys knew, and you didn't tell me. I told you about... and you KNEW!"

Kim didn't need to ask what Kiara had told Emily about. She knew it already. They all knew that Kiara had been spending lots of time with the blonde female Cullen, and Jared had told Kim numerous times that he had always suspected there was something more than just a friendship there but there was nothing they could do because she hadn't technically broken the treaty. She'd seen heartbreak many a time in her life, and watching Kiara break down in front of her was one of the more painful things Kim had experienced in a while.

Emily had felt the pain of a shift before, when Sam's claws had raked down the side of her face and left her with a permanent reminder of the shapeshifting temper. Kim hadn't - so maybe that was why the girl crossed the room and put herself in between the frustrated teenager and Emily. Kiara didn't calm down as Kim held out a hand to place on her shoulder, rather just getting angrier as the two women found themselves unable to deny the elephant in the room.

They knew the Cullens were vampires all along.

They knew Kiara was seeing Rosalie Hale.

They knew Kiara was seeing Rosalie Hale, who was a part of the Cullen family, who were vampires.

They knew it was never going to work, and they never told her. They knew she would never be able to be with Rosalie - and Kiara couldn't help but wonder if that was why they'd just gone along with it all. They'd agreed to keep it a secret from the rest of the boys because they knew it wouldn't make it out of high school. They'd known she was going to hurt - and they'd hid that from her too.

The rain outside had turned into a heavy thunderstorm, lightning turning the room white in flashes that almost seemed to add to the tension in the pack house. Kiara was still dripping wet, but Kim could feel that familiar heat radiating from the teenager that Emily had felt when she touched her before. Her shoulders were trembling, and Kim realised that it wasn't due to shivering in the cold. Kiara wasn't cold - she was burning with a rage they'd never seen in her before.

"Kiara, get outside," Emily ordered, her tone shifting to one that even Kim had never heard. It was as if the woman had flipped a switch, ridding herself of any fear and self-doubt as she looked at the heaving teenager in front of them. "NOW."

While it had worked in the future with the boys when they were arguing and getting over-stimulated, it seemed to have the opposite effect on the angry teenage girl. Kiara barked out a humourless laugh, moving forward so that she was almost nose to nose with Emily. She was smaller than the scarred woman, but it didn't seem to have any deterrent on her as she snarled in her face.

"Don't you DARE tell me what to do right now," Kiara growled, her arm reaching out and grasping on to Emily's forearm. The woman winched instantly, not having expected the strength of the grip that was tight around her. She tried to pull her arm away but it was like a beast was controlling Kiara as the girl only pushed her backwards.

Kim didn't know what to do. It was becoming more and more apparent that they weren't going to be able to diffuse the situation. Kiara's breaths had became to come out short and fast, reminding her of Paul every time he lost control of his anger before shifting.

Shifting. It was the elephant in the room since Leah had shifted days prior, but everyone had chosen to remain in ignorant bliss on the unspoken topic. No-one even wanted to consider that Leah might not be the only female on the reservation with the gene. That was exactly what Kiara was about to go through, and she was in the middle of the entrance to Sam and Emily's house. Kim and Emily both knew that it wasn't looking good for them if she shifted inside while they were both there.

As if she herself was suddenly being controlled by an unknown force, Kim took one look at Emily's face and acted. She lunged forward, slamming herself into Kiara and pushing the girl so hard that she went crashing backwards out the front door that she had just barged in from. Kiara stumbled, tripping and falling off the porch and back into the rain as Kim and Emily cowered in fear at the doorway.

There was a moment of silence before Kiara looked up, her anger making her almost unrecognisable to the two women. She huffed as she rose, beginning to move towards them. Just as she took her second step forward, Kiara let out a yell as she fell to her knees. Kim looked at Emily who just looked on at the girl with pity in her eyes, having heard from the boys about Leah's experience shifting and the pain that they had felt every time she had recalled the memory that had happened only days prior.

It was at the exact moment that five wolves burst through the trees that a sixth joined them outside the Uley pack household. Emily and Kim stumbled backwards, cowering in the doorway with matching gasps as Kiara's favourite shirt and jeans ripped into shreds before them, her sneakers also laying in clumps of rubber and fabric on the wet grass.

In place of where the Black twin had stood was an all black wolf, the only distinctive trait being the almost-missable russet patches around the wolf's chest and legs. Sam snarled loudly, and the two girls recognised it as a warning snarl as Kiara kept her eyes trained on Emily and Kim. Emily prayed that Kiara snapped out of it, the way that Leah had almost instantly when she shifted but she knew that her temper was worse than Paul's.

It had been the same her entire life; when Kiara was angry, she only saw red.

As soon the small wolf's paw connected with the ground as she advanced slowly, Jared snapped. The grey and brown wolf launched across the grass, slamming harshly into the side of Kiara as they rolled and tumbled across the lawn. Emily and Kim both let out shouts at the force that Jared slammed into her with, and Kim felt her heart twist as she heard the ferocious growls and watched as Kiara's teeth repeatedly snapped at Jared's throat.

Leah whimpered and went to move forward from where she had stood beside Sam, but the largest black wolf turned and lowly growled at her and Paul, clearly ordering them to stand down. Emily turned to her fiancé, noticing how Jared and Kiara just seemed to get more and more vicious towards each other.

"STOP THEM SAM!"

Her cries went straight to him, causing the man to act without hesitation. He roared loudly, a deep rumble in his chest as he threw himself into the dog fight between Jared and Kiara. Jared instantly backed up, but Kiara continued to throw her body towards the wolf. Sam caught her, his teeth catching her by the scruff off the neck and throwing her to the ground. His paws slammed down on her shoulder's, attempting to restrain to the wolf to the ground as the others watched in concern. Embry was behind Paul and Leah, unsure how to react to this. He was so new to this and he didn't think Kiara was going to be able to handle it. Leah nipped at him as she overheard his thoughts.

'STAND DOWN, KIARA'

Usually, the other wolves had backed down and calmed down when hearing the sound of Sam in their head, but Kiara seemed to just get more spurred on by it. She snarled in his face, wriggling out of his grasp and darting back to her feet.

'YOU KNEW!'

She whirled around to look at the other wolves as flashes of memories flooded their brains, confirming that they all knew too.

'YOU ALL FUCKING KNEW!'

She spun in a circle again, seeing red as she continued to ignore Sam's warnings. She was in too much of a frenzy for the alpha to control her. The dip in Paul's head sent a pang of heartbreak and betrayal through them all that had even Jared whimpering as they felt it. They were connected now, and none of them had realised the pain in Kiara about the Cullen's departure.

'It would have broke you'

She turned to look at Paul, recognising the voice and the wolf. Her heckles rose on her back and the rest of the wolves bristled.

'I loved her, and you sat there as I POURED MY HEART OUT TO YOU AND DIDN'T SAY A WORD!'

Growls broke out from the wolves, having suspected that Kiara and Rosalie had something going on but now having it confirmed. Paul had somehow managed to hide the memory of him knowing from them all, but Kiara didn't have the same control over it yet. Flashes of her summer spent with Rosalie flickered through the pack link, only causing them to feel their own disgust towards her.

Sam realised the pack's mistake before he could even react.

Kiara felt the disgust and rejection from them immediately. She felt her brother, the rage and anger from him, spread across the link as he patrolled the Swan household and overheard the drama on the reservation. She felt Leah and Jared's disgust, Paul's betrayal and Sam's disappointment. It all hit her at once, suddenly causing Kiara to enter panic mode.

Sam instantly recognised this, telling the others to shift back to diffuse Kiara's temper. They argued for a second before everyone shifted back, Emily and Kim adverting their eyes as they quickly pulled shorts (and in Leah's case, a shirt) on.

Kiara moved backwards as they approached her, Emily and Kim now sensing that the anger was being replaced with something else, and it didn't take a genius to figure out what it was.

The one thing they all knew Kiara was afraid of: the feeling of rejection and abandonment.

"Kie, we can talk about this," Sam reasoned, raising his hand towards the smaller wolf as he tried to appeal to the human side of her. She hated the wolves at that moment, so he appealed to her as her human friend instead. "Just listen to me, we'll get you turned back and we can all talk about it."

Paul noticed the signs in her straight away. The wolf wasn't heaving out of anger anymore, but panic. As Sam got closer to her, Paul recognised the way she tensed and instantly knew what was about to happen.

Sam gently smiled at her, thinking her tensing up was her finally releasing her anger and listening to him. Paul and Leah saw right through that, and Paul instantly called out for Sam to stop approaching her. The man turned to look at his beta in confusion before it clicked what he was warning him of.

Kiara dug her feet into the dirt, frantically looking between them all before launching forward. Instead of smacking into Sam in anger like Jared and Embry assumed was going to happen, Kiara sprung towards the forest in a frenzy without looking back at any of them.

"GO!" Sam ordered Paul, turning and briskly nodding to Leah who had been prepared to sprint after Kiara too. They shifted, shredding their clothes as they too took after the girl without a second thought.

Kiara ran, the feeling of rejection and loneliness overwhelming her thoughts. She didn't hear the voices of Paul and Leah echoing in her head, despite them being there. All she felt was an indescribable sense of pain and grief and betrayal.

She just had to get out of here.

___

"Where is she? Why didn't you order her to stop?!"

Sam rubbed his face as he pulled away from Emily's embrace, turning around to see Billy Black being helped out of the Clearwater's truck by Sue. They'd came straight from the meeting after Seth had shifted back and told them what had happened. Their drive had been deadly silent, a deep understanding between the two parents as they took in the severity of their daughters both being the first ever female shifters.

Billy didn't want to think about what this might mean for Rachel and Rebecca, although he was aware that it was unlikely that they'd ever come back to the area let alone activate the gene - if they even had it. It was a shock that Leah had it, and it was an even bigger shock that Kiara had it too.

"Maybe halfway to the Canadian border by now," Sam admitted, unsure what to say to the father in front of him. "Paul and Leah have gone after her. Leah's the fastest and Paul is probably the only one of us that she'd even consider speaking to. I tried ordering her to stop, but she was too overwhelmed with anger to even hear the command, like Paul when he shifted after Bella slapped him. Her temper is bad Billy, but we'll get her back."

Billy sighed, rubbing his face but knowing that Sam was right. They couldn't send the entire pack after her and with the return of the Cullens, it was unwise for the alpha to leave and chase after the new wolf. He looked around before looking back to Sam with a slight unease in his chest as his third question fell from his lips.

"Where's Jake?"

"He was at Bella's with the Cullen's, I told him to stay on patrol there incase they returned and to remind them of the treaty. Kiara had gone over there when the Cullen's returned and I think he let it slip that they were vamps." The rest of the pack, Emily and Kim all noticed how he didn't tell the man about her confession of love. That was something that Kiara deserved to be able to choose whether or not her father knew about. He might have been her alpha, but he was her friend first.

Billy swore in that moment that if he was a wolf he would have phased in anger too. He couldn't believe that his son wouldn't have even attempted to go after his twin sister in any scenario, especially one that involved vampires and werewolves. Bella Swan and her bloodsucking companions had begun to get on his final nerve.

"We'll bring her home, Billy."

"She's my baby," Billy murmured, his eyes watering as he felt Sue place a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I can't lose her too."

There was a heavy pause as Sam felt Emily rub lightly against his side to remind him that she was there for him too. Sam held on to her hand for a second before looking back at Billy Black with a determination in his eyes, a promise being exchanged between the men.

"We won't lose her. I promise."

_____

Carlisle, Beverly, Emmet and Rosalie had sat in their Forks residence as the rest of their family had rushed to Italy to stop Edward from exposing himself to humans in front of the Volturi. Alice had promised to keep them updated and after she had text assuring them that the crisis had been averted, the topic drifted onto their newest problem.

"She was there," Rosalie told them all after a moment. Her arms were crossed as she continued to look out of the window that she hadn't moved from since she re-entered the house. The other three in the room looked over at her, surprised that she had even said a word. "Kiara was there when Jacob and Bella arrived. He let it slip, but I think she already knew."

Beverly felt instant disappointment fill her stomach as she noticed the self-loaving tone in Rosalie's voice that had been a lot less frequent since the introduction of Kiara Black into their lives. She went to reach out to her sister but the girl flinched and moved up the stairs faster than any of them could even react. Rosalie wasn't as fast as Edward, but she was faster than the rest of the Cullen coven when she wanted to be.

Emmet reached into his pocket as they all heard the vibrations echo, pulling out his phone and excusing himself. Their ears briefly picked up on Edward informing him they were about to board their flight back before the soft sounds of Rosalie's fingers pressing the keys on her phone was overheard from upstairs.

Carlisle and Beverly shared a concerned look, knowing that Rosalie was about to try and reach out to the girl that had captured her heart. The doctor was pained to hear how the girl had reacted, but he wasn't surprised to find out that she already knew about vampires. She'd been running with the wolves for too long to not have know, and it almost proved to him that the 'animal' attack she had encountered during their disappearance was now confirmed to not be an animal.

They knew that Laurent had approached Bella and that the wolves had killed him for it. It wouldn't have been that out there to assume that another vampire, presumably one that had been keeping tabs on them, had figured out there was a connection between Kiara and Rosalie. His mind drifted to that of a red-headed vampire, knowing there was an unpaid vendetta still hanging over them.

"Kiara, I need to explain..." Rosalie's voice murmured down the phone. Carlisle swore it was the only time he'd ever heard the girl talk with such desperation other than when she begged him to save her sister first on that very first night he had came across their broken and bloodied bodies.

"Don't phone this number. Kiara doesn't need to hear from you ever again."

The cut off tone was heard around the house. Sam Uley had given Rosalie Hale her final warning, and it seemed like this time she was going to have to listen to the man. Kiara didn't want to hear from her, no, she didn't NEED to hear from her. That was worse, Rosalie thought.

The phone fell to the ground at her feet, her knees hitting the floor beside it as she felt all the air leave her body. She didn't need oxygen to survive, but this feeling reminded her of being winded when she had once relied on it. She hadn't felt physical pain in so long, yet this felt like her insides were being burned from within.

She saw her for what she truly was, what her family had tried to convince her she wasn't. Kiara knew she was a monster. A bloodthirsty creature, undeserving of this life. Rosalie was nothing more than an immortal being with nothing left to live for.

"Edward says Bella wants us to vote on her mortality when they return," Emmet told Beverly, holding her against his chest as he sat back down on the couch. She leaned back against him, aware that he had been the only one in the house not to have listened to the conversation - if you could call it that - between Rosalie and Samuel Uley, the leader of Kiara's brother's pack.

The sound of shattering glass from upstairs was all Emmet needed to hear to know that things hadn't ended up happily for Rosalie and Kiara. He suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of guilt as Beverly tucked her head into him, noticing the sound of Rosalie rushing out of the house and into the forest. They were all in their own version of happily ever after when it came to their mates, and Edward was seemingly reunited with his.

He just wished they could have given that to Rosalie too.
