xlvi. making... up

Kiara hadn't realised how tired she had been until she'd finally allowed herself to lie down, a deep sigh escaping her body as the tension finally allowed itself to seep out of her bones. She almost found the slow thumping of Bella's freezing heart from upstairs almost therapeutic, a steady rhythm lulling her to sleep.

She didn't hear Jacob walk in, didn't hear him sit down on the floor next to the couch she was laying on, didn't hear him say her name as he looked at her. She just let herself drift away, her body so heavy with sleep that she couldn't control her eyes anymore, her head tilting to the side as another deep, ragged breath escaped her lips.

"Hey, Kie," Jacob said as he stared over at her. She rolled her head to look at him, her eyes slowly blinking as she tried to focus on him, slight annoyance in her body as she looked at her twin for waking her up when she was finally about to get some sleep. "I'm so sorry for bringing you into all of this... it's all because of me and my obsession with Bella. I see that now."

Kiara blinked a few times, finding herself unable to understand what he was saying because of how tired she was. Out of everything that had happened today, everything that had been weighing on her mind, Jacob's apology seemed to be the most confusing thing. She didn't quite know why it was the thing she was having the hardest time processing, but it just didn't make sense to her.

"Jacob, I appreciate it," Kiara mumbled out, stretching as she rolled over on the white couch. "But that could have waited until I had slept. Get out of here, weirdo."

Jacob chuckled, making no attempt to move from where he was leaned against the side of the couch, leaning back a little and allowing his own eyes to gradually close as the sun peeked through the clouds outside. Seth and Leah would remain on watch until the twins woke up, and then they'd switch. Sam's pack might have left, but Kiara was still on high alert until otherwise.

"Night Kie," Jacob mumbled, hearing his sister's breaths get heavier.

"Night Jake."

____

The sun on her face woke Kiara up, gently and carefully. She groaned a little, her eyes still clamped shut as she stretched her body out on the soft white couch. Her hand felt the soft material of a blanket, opening her eyes ever so slightly to see the large object had been draped over her - Rosalie, she assumed.

Jacob was nowhere to be seen, clearly having woken up before she had and decided to leave her to it. She could faintly hear the little giggles of a child from outside - if that was where Renesmee was, she knew Jacob wouldn't be far behind. She remembered what it felt like when she'd first imprinted on Rosalie, that urge to just be at her side. That being said, Kiara made a mental note to have a discussion with Jacob about his imprinting, considering Renesmee was literally barely a day old.

Kiara pulled at the blanket that was still covering her body, realising that while someone had put a blanket over her, she'd still slept through it. She rolled her eyes, shaking her head at her own laziness as she got to her feet and walked over to the window. Her eyes searched for her brother as she walked over to the window. She pressed her forehead against the glass as she looked towards the forest, seeing Jacob standing in his wolf form, while Renesmee was being held on his back by Seth. Leah was standing next to them both, a small smile visible on her face no matter how much she wanted to hide it.

Edward was laughing, making sure to take a photo of it on one of Beverly's vintage cameras so that he could show Bella once she had woken up. Esme was standing with them, giggling at the laughs that were leaving baby Renesmee's mouth as Seth supported her on the back of the wolf.

"It's nice to see them together, isn't it?"

Kiara jumped a little, turning her head to see Beverly walking into the room holding a plate of food. She nodded, her mood significantly lighter than it had been before she had slept. It was like she'd woken up to a different universe - one where they hadn't almost lost everything the night before.

"How long was I out?" Kiara asked, thanking Beverly as she took the plate from the blonde vampire and sat back down on the couch. Emmett walked into the room behind her, grinning as he noticed that his favourite wolf was up and awake now. She noticed that their eyes were back to their usual golden hue, relief flooding through her as she realised that they'd had time to go and hunt again now that the threat of the pack was near-minimum.

"Only a day," Alice said, breezing through the room as she headed from upstairs towards the front door. She'd been upstairs, making sure that Bella was comfortable before she planned to head out with Jasper and Bree to Seattle. Seth would be going with them, provided Kiara gave it the approval once he asked her. "Edward thought you'd be out longer. Said it's the quietest he's ever heard your head."

Kiara wasn't sure if that was a compliment, but she decided to take it as one. Trust Edward to find a way to playfully insult her even when she wasn't conscious. As she finished her food, she noticed Rosalie walking into the room, a small grin on her face as she realised that her mate was finally awake. Kiara couldn't help but smile back, happy to see Rosalie so content and at ease. It was like everything had finally settled down, and they could finally relax.

Sure, she was still pissed as hell - and she knew Rosalie would be too about her plan to let Jacob kill Renesmee, but they'd have time to talk about that later. Now, they were just grateful to see the other alive.

"Hey," Rosalie whispered, sitting down beside Kiara on the couch. "I'm glad you're up."

Kiara couldn't help but feel her heart swell at Rosalie's words. She had missed Rosalie too, more than she could ever put into words. It had been hard to stay angry at her during the pregnancy, and while she still was, she was glad that she was able to look at her again without feeling pain. In this moment, everything else faded away, and all that mattered was the two of them.

"I missed you too," Kiara said softly, looking up at Rosalie with a loving gaze.

"Hello," Emmett said, waving his arms obnoxiously as the two broke their gaze to look at him. Kiara was smiling, Rosalie was glaring and wondering how quickly it would take her to rip his arm off. "Still here."

"Unfortunately," Rosalie muttered, rolling her eyes as Emmett grinned at the confirmation that he had struck a nerve once again. If there was anything he loved more in the world than Beverly Hale, it was annoying her sister.

Beverly smacked her husband's arm, silently telling him off for ruining the small reunion that had been happening on the couch in front of them. He just chuckled, rubbing his arm before turning his attention back to Kiara.

"So, what's the plan now?" Emmett asked, a serious expression replacing his teasing grin. "We can't just sit around and wait for another attack from Sam."

Kiara shook her head, placing the plate on the table as she stood up, stretching out her limbs once more as she did. Damn, a full day of rest had really done her the world of good. She couldn't remember when she last felt this peaceful and energised after waking up from a slumber.

"Sam won't attack - not now, anyway. Bree, Rose and Renesmee are imprints. They can't touch them - like Edward said, it's our most absolute law. I forgot about it until Jacob reminded us of it yesterday, and while it's great news... it doesn't extend to family. So we stay alert, but Sam isn't stupid - he knows he has no advantage now."

Emmett nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. It was a relief that they didn't have to worry about the pack attacking them anymore, but they still had to be cautious. Kiara just hoped that Sam would realise soon enough that Renesmee was clearly not a threat.

"How long until Bella..."

"Probably another day or two," Beverly said softly, noticing the discomfort in Kiara's voice at the change. She had always been under the assumption that her friend was becoming a vampire, even before the pregnancy, but she hadn't expected to still feel a bit conflicted about it once it was happening. She knew it was Bella's choice, and she knew that she'd love Edward forever this way, but it went against everything she'd had ingrained into her the moment she shifted.

She stood up, excusing herself from the room as she headed outside towards her pack. She walked outside, feeling the warmth of the sun on her skin and hearing the birds chirping in the trees. They all turned around to look at her as she exited from inside, her brother walking towards her with a grin on his face as she realised that he'd obviously changed back in the passing moments.

"Hey," Jacob said, a small smile on his face. "You're up."

"Finally!" Leah called out, sniggering as Kiara stuck up her middle finger at the girl. Edward sent her a parental disapproving look as he moved Renesmee in his arms, hoping the little attentive supernatural child hadn't seen his aunt's actions.

"Hey," Kiara replied, returning the smile. "How's Renesmee doing?"

"Nessie's doing great," Jacob said, his eyes lighting up as he talked about his imprint. "She's growing so fast already. It's amazing."

Kiara nodded, feeling happy for her brother. She knew how much he had gone through, how much he had suffered, and seeing him happy was all she had ever wanted. She was so - wait. What the hell did he just call her?

"Nessie..." Kiara drawled, her eyes flickering to Edward who was trying to hide the amusement in his face. "Like... the Loch Ness Monster? Bella's going to love you."

She turned her head to look over towards Renesmee, the little girl already watching her from her father's arms. Kiara found it ever-so-slightly unnerving that Renesmee already seemed so in tune with the world around her, and the fact she looked almost a week old rather than a day. She was reaching her little arms out towards Kiara, excited babbles falling from her lips as she recognised the alpha.

"Do you want to hold her?" Edward asked as he moved closer, having already been filled in by Jacob about the connection that had been formed the second he imprinted on the baby. It wasn't just Jacob that Renesmee had gained as a protector, but Kiara and the rest of their pack too.

Kiara nodded, although she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to. There was still so much doubt in her brain over Renesmee as the baby was brought closer to her, and the questions were almost overwhelming her at that point.

"Just ask," Edward said, showing her how to support Renesmee's head as he gently passed her daughter over. "We'll tell you everything we know."

"She drinks human blood, I know, but does she take animal too?" Kiara asked, the small list of questions in the forefront of her mind finally being voiced as she started to risk assess the bundle of nerves that was currently giggling as she played with a loose strand of the alpha's hair.

"She will," Carlisle replied, a soft smile on his face. "But she doesn't need to. She'll eat the same food as you and the rest of the pack - just like a human."

"And if she bites...?"

"Harmless," Jacob replied, showing a small red mark on his hand from hours prior. "Just like a human."

Kiara nodded, taking in the information that was being given to her. She knew that this wasn't something she could be scared of, this was something she had to accept and protect - the same as Jacob, Edward and the rest of their pack were doing.

"Here," Jacob said, moving closer and placing his hand on Kiara's shoulder as he whispered into her ear. "Let her place her hand against your cheek. It'll help."

Kiara did as instructed, Renesmee's small palm pushing against hers as she felt a wave of energy pass between them both. Suddenly Kiara could almost feel what Renesmee was feeling - almost see as if she was seeing through the babies eyes.

Flashbacks of what looked like a womb - disgusting, Kiara thought - and Bella's face as she looked at Renesmee for the first time, followed by Rosalie gently cooing as she wiped her with the baby blanket, then Kiara peering down at her with shock on her face.

Then, almost as if she was choosing to follow in her father's footsteps by making fun of Kiara, Renesmee showed her the exact moment that the newborn had watched the alpha spin around and throw up her stomach's contents into a trashcan. The situation hadn't been anywhere near funny at the time, with the context of Bella having just died upstairs, but she figured that without context it was kind of amusing.

Yet as soon as Renesmee moved her hand away from Kiara's cheek the vision stopped and the alpha found herself staring down at a now content little girl with wide eyes full of innocence, almost as if she was trying to pretend she hadn't just showed Kiara images of herself being sick.

"So..." Kiara said, noticing that everyone was watching her with baited breaths as they waited to find out how the alpha would react to the baby possessing abilities. "...you're telling me Renesmee has a HD version of me being sick into a trashcan that she can just show anyone whenever she feels like it?"

Everyone laughed, not having expected Kiara to have been as relaxed about Renesmee having a gift. Minus the quick growth, she'd appeared pretty much like a human baby so for her to have a gift it had concerned Carlisle a little about what else she was potentially able to do.

But Kiara wasn't concerned. She knew that Renesmee was safe with them, and that they would protect her no matter what. Plus, the ability to show embarrassing moments was hardly something to be worried about. She looked back down at Renesmee, who was giggling once again as she reached out towards Kiara's hair.

"You're going to be trouble, aren't you?" Kiara said with a smile, gently brushing Renesmee's hair away from her face before she reached out and passed her back to Edward, the man having been waiting for his child to be back in his arms. He knew that once Bella was awake he'd feel less clingy over her, and he found it in himself to trust Jacob with her too. "Welcome to the pack, Renesmee. We're going to take good care of you."

From the doorstep, Rosalie smiled as she heard the words leave her mate's lips. They might not be on the best standing with each other at the moment, but it gave her hope. She knew she had a lot to apologise for and she knew that Kiara wasn't just going to forgive and forget everything that had happened, but it was a start. If Kiara could see that Renesmee wasn't some evil killing machine, it was just the first step.

Things were going to be okay.

_____

"So you want to be bait?"

Jacob rolled his eyes as Leah sniggered from the kitchen table, sitting beside Kiara as the girls shared a bowl of chips. It was the first time Kiara thought she had seen Leah come into the house without being prompted, and by the look of sheer delight on Esme's face when they walked in, she was pretty sure she was right.

"Someone needs to be," Jacob replied, crossing his arms as he watched Rosalie and Edward play with Renesmee in the centre of the room. "I won't let Bella near her until we know it's safe."

"Yeah, like you could stop her," Leah muttered, Jacob instantly tensing up at the suggestion that he wasn't able to protect his own imprint. He huffed loudly, and Kiara looked up as she noticed the change in his demeanour. She rolled her eyes as he went to move towards Leah, not sure if she liked imprinted Jacob's new attitude when ti came to Renesmee. She knew Bella certainly wasn't going to be delighted by it.

"Back down, Jake," she sighed, her twin instantly pausing at her words. She huffed in return, pushing the bowl towards Leah with a sigh as she noticed the way he stopped without a single hesitation. "Sorry, not an alpha order. Just... a normal person request."

Edward chuckled from the middle of the room, his eyes not looking at the twins but instead looking at Rosalie who glared deeply back at him. Kiara's eyes flickered between the two for a second, instantly telling by their body language that they were having an unspoken conversation that the wolves weren't apart of. Whatever.

"It would make more sense if we tested with Kiara," Jasper said, instantly feeling the anger from Rosalie as she snapped her head round to glare at him from across the room. No way in hell was she letting Kiara be the tester for newborn Bella. Not on her watch. "You said it yourself Rose, she doesn't smell as much as the others."

"Delightful, really," Kiara muttered with another eye roll. "All girls love being told they 'don't smell that much'."

Carlisle chucked, closing his newspaper as he turned on the couch to face Kiara too. She could tell by the look on his face that he had been giving it thought before Jasper had even suggested it, and a part of her was curious to know how much thought he had really given it all before this conversation.

"All jokes aside, Jasper is right, your scent is much more human than the rest of the pack. We can test with Jacob and then Kiara."

"Or not with Kiara at all," Rosalie replied firmly, the look in her eyes instantly making the rest of the family back down at the suggestion.

Kiara wasn't going to argue with Rosalie - in fact, she was quite alright with not being Bella bait. She'd done a lot for Bella, she wasn't about to tie a bell around her neck and offer herself up as the vampires first meal. If Jacob wanted to do that, well... who was she to judge?

Carlisle simply nodded, clapping Jasper on the shoulder as the two left the room. She faintly could hear them discussing the

She did, however, make a mental note to ask Carlisle in the near future about his theories on why her scent was different than the others. They'd never really touched massively on it before, it had always just been something that was fact and that was that. The original suggestion had been because she imprinted, but then why hadn't Seth or Jacob's scents changed? Why hers?

"She wants to sleep," Edward informed them all after a moment, his eyes full of adoration as he looked at the baby that was sleepily blinking up at him. Her eyes were tiny as she tried to continue looking at her father, a hand placed against his cheek as Edward erupted into a fit of laughter at whatever the vampire-human hybrid child had just showed him. "Nice one."

"Did she just show you Kiara throwing up again?" Leah asked, her mouth crammed with tortilla chips as she leaned back in her chair. She wasn't overly keen on the vampires, but she'd found herself starting to grow to tolerate the Cullens - especially little Renesmee.

In the day that Kiara had been out cold on the couch, it had seemed like Renesmee had decided her favourite memory was Kiara being sick. Carlisle had told them all that it might have just been because it was one of her earliest memories, to which Kiara had responded that she'd rather have been shown Edward cutting the umbilical cord than herself being sick. She soon retracted that statement after Seth reminded her that Renesmee probably did have that in her head somewhere.

"Yup."

"I am literally being harassed by a day old baby," Kiara huffed, although the humour was clear in her voice. It was nice to know that what she once had thought was going to come out of Bella's body as a blood-frenzied demon was actually just more of a small annoyance. At this rate, Kiara half expected Renesmee to start talking any day now.

"I think it's about time we put her to bed," Edward announced, carefully lifting the small bundle of Renesmee up from the floor. "Jacob... want to help me read her to sleep?"

Kiara was sure hell had frozen over. What. The. Hell?

Jacob nodded, shooting a look towards Leah as he silently waited for her response. She seemed to understand as she reached back into the bowl of chips, grabbing a handful before standing up from the kitchen table chair she had been aimlessly swinging back and forth on.

"I'm gonna head out to see Seth, maybe run a patrol," she said with a slight smile on her face, looking between Kiara and Rosalie before finally settling on Jacob with a small smirk that he returned. "You know... just in case you two want some peace and privacy while they're getting Renesmee out for the night."

Leah tried not to laugh at how pissed off Kiara looked as she quickly moved out of the room, leaving just Rosalie and the alpha in there. Rosalie let out a deep sigh before turning back towards Kiara with one raised eyebrow, a look of disbelief on her face at how quickly they had all planned to get out of there and leave the two alone.

"So subtle," Rosalie joked, Kiara only cracking half a smile at her words.

They'd been dancing around the line that they had drawn the past week all day, and the two days that they had spent waiting on Bella to wake up had almost felt like a lifetime to them both. More so for Rosalie, who hadn't been able to sleep through an entire day like Kiara had.

"They're right. I think it's time we talked." Kiara looked around the room - it felt too enclosed and stuffy for a proper conversation. She knew that everyone else could still hear everything that they said, and while Kiara liked her pack and the Cullens, she didn't want their business being aired out for all to listen to. "Can we go somewhere a bit..."

"Yeah," Rosalie breathed, standing up from the couch and walking towards Kiara. She held out her hand, waiting with slightly held breath to see if the shapeshifter would stand up without her, or take her hand and let her lead the way. Kiara hesitated for just a brief second before she allowed her palm to slide into Rosalie's for the first time in a while.

Rosalie smiled, her eyes lighting up at the action.

"I know just the place."

______

The grass was soft under their feet as they walked towards a clearing surrounded by trees and wildflowers, made even more magical due to its carpet of fireflies hovering above like tiny fairy lights. Walking through the middle of this clearing, everything seemed so much clearer and easier here than it did back inside that stuffy room; something about being outside the household and in nature seemed to deepen their connection even further than before.

"Wow," Kiara breathed, not having ever known this was here despite the time she'd spent at the Cullens. Rosalie smiled at her over her shoulder, her cold hand still wrapped around Kiara's warm palm as she continued to lead her through the grass.

"Almost there."

Kiara bit her tongue to stop herself from asking where Rosalie was leading them, not wanting to ruin whatever grand reveal the blonde vampire had clearly planned out in her head. It had left her with a lot more questions than she expected as she'd let her lead her through the forest, most of them to do with the fact Rosalie had no hesitation of where she was going - as if she'd walked this route thousands of times.

Eventually, Rosalie stopped in front of something that Kiara didn't quite expect; a small wooden cabin, perfectly fitting into the trees and so well hidden that she probably would have never discovered it herself. Her eyes widened as she took in the beauty before her before turning around to look at Rosalie with a questioning gaze.

"Rosalie... what is this?" She asked, her voice slightly hushed out of awe as she looked at how the moss on the roof of the cabin looked decades old - but Kiara could smell the freshness of the wood underneath.

"Emmett built it," Rosalie said simply, looking at the structure with a look in her eyes that Kiara couldn't quite place. She wasn't lying... but there was something Rosalie wasn't quite saying either that her eyes were. "You should see Edward and Bella's place... now that's something else."

"They've got a house?" Kiara asked, wondering how she'd missed that.

"Not yet, technically," Rosalie replied as she reached into her pocket, pulling out a key and opening the door to the small cabin with a gentle smile on her lips. "But soon."

Kiara stepped inside the cabin behind Rosalie, amazed by the cozy rustic interior. The walls were made of hand-carved wood that looked age-old and weathered, but was still sturdy and strong. There was a small kitchen on one side of the room with a little fireplace underneath it, and a large sofa in the middle which offered plenty of seating for at least four or five people. A large fireplace sat in one corner of the living room with a stack of logs waiting to be lit. The walls were lined with bookshelves filled with more novels than Kiara had ever seen in her life - all arranged neatly by size and topic.

She could see three separate doors that lead off from the main room, seeing beds in two of them. The third door was shut, but she figured it was a bathroom. Logically, that would make sense. Everything felt so homely despite its rustic look, and Kiara couldn't help but feel comforted by this place - as if it had been created just for her.

The windows let in natural moonlight from outside which illuminated everything inside with a soft glow; while Rosalie lit up some candles around them to make it even more comfortable for Kiara - already feeling like they were far away from all the troubles back at the Cullen household.

"This is..."

"You like it?" Rosalie asked, her voice so gentle and delicate that Kiara almost missed it at first.

"I love it," Kiara replied, amazed at the beauty and coziness of this place. She couldn't believe that Emmett of all people had created such a place - one that felt so... right to her. "This is incredible."

Rosalie smiled at that, simply leaning down to take off her shoes before sitting down on the couch. The fireplace was already crackling, a sign that someone had been here before them, but Kiara could only smell Rosalie's scent in the cabin. She wondered if that was where Rosalie had been earlier, but it didn't matter. She sat on the sofa beside her, tucking her legs under her as they both looked at each other, unsure where to begin.

The silence between them was heavy, but not uncomfortable. Kiara could feel Rosalie's cold gaze on her, studying her every move and expression. She could see the pain and vulnerability in her gaze, something she had never seen before. The fireflies outside seemed to dance to the rhythm of their breathing, illuminating the cabin in a magical glow.

Kiara was the first to break the silence, her voice soft and hesitant as she spoke.

"I'm sorry," she said, looking down at her hands in her lap. "For how I've been acting."

Rosalie's expression softened, her hand reaching out to gently lift Kiara's chin so that their eyes met. She smiled at her, but Kiara could see the pain in the vampire's eyes as she moved her hand back to her side, almost as if she felt bad for touching the shapeshifter.

"No, Kiara," she said, her voice firm but kind. "You have nothing to apologise for. It took me too long to get it, but I see it now... I was so obsessed with Bella having the one thing I thought I always wanted, that I almost long the one time that I really needed."

Kiara's heart leapt at Rosalie's words, a small flicker of hope rising within her chest. All she had wanted was Rosalie to understand what her actions had risked for Kiara, to understand that while things might have played out for the better - there had been no guarantee that they would have.

"It wasn't until I saw the way you looked at Renesmee when I brought her down those stairs that I realised what I'd really done," Rosalie continued, now no longer being able to meet her mate's heavy gaze. "I never wanted to ruin anything... ruin us. But I saw it in your eyes then, the sheer amount of relief when you realised she was just like a human baby and I finally understood."

"Rose..."

"No, let me finish," Rosalie said, not letting Kiara stop her and try to spread the blame. Rosalie wasn't stupid - she knew Kiara had said some things that the girl regretted, but it hadn't been Kiara who had ripped them apart without a second thought. "I was so enthralled by the idea of this baby, that I didn't even think that you wouldn't see things how I did. I hate it, not just because it hurt you but because it reminded me of the things you're giving up to just be with me. Kiara, you have a chance at a normal life... you can stop phasing and grow old and have a family and watch your kids and their kids grow old too. You don't have that with me."

Kiara's heart clenched at Rosalie's words. She knew that her life with Rosalie would never be normal, but it was a life that she was willing to fight for. She couldn't imagine being with anyone else, not after everything that they had been through together. Yeah, being with Rosalie forever would mean she'd have to give up a lot, but she had also already gained so much - she had gained a love that she never thought was possible, a love that consumed her in the best possible way.

"Rose, I made my choice," Kiara said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm not ready to just forgive everything that happened this week... but I chose you, and I would make that choice a hundred times over. I may have given up some things, but I gained so much more. I gained you, and that's all that matters to me."

Rosalie looked at Kiara with tears of venom in her eyes, the pain and vulnerability still evident in her gaze. She reached out and took Kiara's hand in hers, holding it tightly as if she was afraid to let go. Her golden eyes shone in the moonlight as she listened to Kiara's words. She had never thought that someone like Kiara would be willing to give up everything to be with her. It was both terrifying and exhilarating to know that someone loved her that much.

"I don't deserve you," Rosalie said, her voice cracking with emotion. "I don't deserve someone as kind and loving as you."

"Maybe we don't deserve it," Kiara replied, a hint of a smile on her lips. "But it's what we need, and it's what I'll always give you."

Kiara leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Rosalie's lips, feeling the electricity between them that never seemed to fade. It was nothing like their last kiss, when Rosalie had been in a frenzy. This was more like their first kiss all over again - tentative and full of unspoken promise. Kiara could feel the weight of Rosalie's love in every touch, in every breath they shared.

As they pulled away, Rosalie held Kiara's face in her hands, her eyes searching Kiara's for any sign of doubt. But all she found was love and conviction, and it made her heart swell with pride. Kiara's heart was pounding in her chest, and Rosalie could feel the heat of her body so close to her own. It was as if they were the only people in the world, lost in their own passion and love for each other.

"I love you, Rose," Kiara said softly, looking into Rosalie's eyes. "I love you more than anything in this world."

"I love you too," Rosalie replied, a soft smile on her lips.

The fireflies outside continued to dance, casting a warm glow over the cabin, and for a moment, everything felt perfect. Kiara knew that they still had a lot to work through, but for now, she was content to simply be in Rosalie's arms, feeling the warmth of her love wash over her.

"This cabin... Emmett didn't build it for him and Beverly, did he?"

"It's yours," Rosalie replied, a smile on her lips as she waited for Kiara's reaction. The shapeshifter simply shook her head, placing another kiss to Rosalie's lips before pulling away for a brief second.

"Ours."

Rosalie liked the sound of that. Her eyes softened, and she leaned in to kiss Kiara again, this time with more urgency and passion. Kiara responded in kind, her hands reaching up to tangle in Rosalie's hair as they kissed deeply. They were lost in their own world, completely consumed by their love for each other.

"Do you want to see your - our room?" Rosalie asked, her voice softer than before. Kiara smiled at her, seeing the way Rosalie's pupils had blown a little and she knew hers would look the exact same. She knew what Rosalie really meant, she knew the underlying suggestion that the blonde was scared to ask out loud, after everything they'd been through in the past week.

"Yeah," Kiara breathed, standing up and offering her hand out to the vampire. "I think I'd like that a lot."

Kiara walked backwards as Rosalie moved with her, letting the blonde lead her into the room until the back of her knees hit the bed and caused her to fall backwards on to it with a soft thud, her legs dangling off the edge. The alpha laughed, a genuine sparkle in her eyes as Rosalie moved forward so that she was standing at the edge of the bed, in between Kiara's legs as she wrapped her arms around her neck gently.

Rosalie looked down at Kiara with a mix of tenderness and desire, her golden eyes darkening with hunger. She had waited for this moment for what felt like an eternity, and now that she had Kiara all to herself, she wasn't going to waste a single second.

"You are so beautiful," Rosalie murmured, tracing the curve of Kiara's jaw with her fingertips. "I could spend an eternity just looking at you."

Kiara blushed at the compliment, feeling her heart swell with affection. She had never felt so cherished by anyone before, and it made her want Rosalie even more.

"I'll give you an eternity, and forevermore after that," Kiara husked out, Rosalie's smile widening at the phrase. Kiara leaned up to capture Rosalie's lips in a fierce kiss, her hands roaming over the vampire's body as she lost herself in the sensation.

Rosalie moaned into the kiss, her body responding to Kiara's touch with a hunger that she couldn't quite control. She broke the kiss and began to trail hot, open-mouthed kisses down Kiara's neck, nipping lightly at the sensitive skin and reveling in the way the shapeshifter's body arched up to meet hers.

Kiara shivered, her body responding to Rosalie's touch as she tilted her neck, giving the vampire better access. Rosalie paused as her lips found the soft scar tissue that had been left from Kiara's first encounter with Victoria, her touch becoming softer as she placed a gentle kiss to the scar that would forever taint the girl.

"God, I've missed you," Rosalie whispered, her voice low and husky as she kissed her way up to Kiara's jawline, before pressing one long kiss to her lips again with a low grumble. "Missed the way you feel, the way you taste."

Kiara moaned softly, her fingers tangling in Rosalie's hair as the blonde continued to kiss and nip at her skin. It had been too long since they had been together, and she felt like she was on fire with need for Rosalie. Something in side of her snapped, and she lightly grabbed at Rosalie's waist, pulling the blonde on to her and flipping them over so that she was hovering above the vampire.

"I want you," Kiara growled out, a possessive look on her face as she looked down at Rosalie, their lips almost touching. "All of you."

"You're getting me," Rosalie breathed out, her own voice coming out like a gruff purr. Her hands began to travel up the back of Kiara's shirt, lightly tracing the outline of the second vampire scar that rested on the side of her arm.

Kiara stopped kissing the blonde for a moment, her lips parted as she stared down at Rosalie. The blonde looked so beautiful, lying there beneath her with her hair fanned out across the pillow. And she was all Kiara's, no-one else's.  The alpha smiled, her eyes soft as she leaned forward to place a gentle kiss to Rosalie's lips, pulling back far enough to whisper in her ear.

"I'm yours, Rose. All yours."

Rosalie's eyes darkened with desire as she felt herself respond to Kiara's words. She reached up, tangling her fingers in the girl's hair, pulling their lips back together in a heated kiss as her hand reached under her shirt for the clasp of her bra. She had to touch Kiara, feel the soft skin underneath her fingertips as she continued to kiss her. She needed the shapeshifter more than she needed air as she broke the kiss briefly to yank her own shirt off.

"God, I missed you," Rosalie breathed out, pulling her lips back to Kiara's with a need that neither of them could deny. She pulled the alpha's shirt up so that she could feel the soft skin underneath her fingertips.

"I missed you too," Kiara breathed out, her voice low as she pressed her lips to Rosalie's neck, trailing down to the hollow of her throat where she pressed her lips before continuing further down, her mouth leaving a trail of wet kisses on Rosalie's collarbone.

No-one had ever looked at her with such desire or love in their eyes, and she wasn't going to give that up - not for anything. Before they knew it, the room was scattered with their clothing, their panting and breaths filling the space.

"You've got that look," Rosalie murmured, her hands moving to Kiara's hips, pulling the girl so their bodies were pressed tightly against each other.

"What look?" Kiara asked, her voice husky as she reached down, her fingers traveling up the bare skin of Rosalie's leg.

"That you're about to eat me alive look," Rosalie replied, a smirk on her lips. Kiara grinned, a low rumble in her chest. This felt different than the last night they'd spent together, something deep in her having changed since then.

"Maybe I am," she replied in a low growl, Rosalie laughing lightly at the look in Kiara's eyes at the suggestion.

"Then you'd better do it quickly," Rosalie murmured, her hands threading into Kiara's long hair, pulling the darker girl's head up to meet her lips in a searing kiss as she felt the other girl's fingers begin to trace soft patterns across her stomach, dangerously close to the one place Rosalie needed her touch the most.

They kissed for what felt like hours, their bodies moving together in a rhythm as old as time, as the light in the room faded and the moon began to shine in through the window. They were the only two people in the world, making each other surrender to the desire that they had felt for each other for as long as they could remember.

As the sun started to rise on the horizon, Kiara and Rosalie lay entwined in each other's arms, their naked bodies glistening with sweat. They were tired but content, basking in the glow of their love for each other.

"I could stay like this forever," Kiara whispered, her voice barely audible.

"Forevermore," Rosalie replied, both girls laughing at the word.

"And an eternity after that."
