Twenty seven
I dried my hair with a towel. How much mud had Jackson actually used to help mask my scent? It certainly seemed like it was endless.
Wöðen. I never thought I'd miss the bayou.
Or perhaps it isn't the bayou, or the bunker, but the peace I had while there. I wouldn't trade Klaus for the world, but sometimes I just needed to be able to breathe for a second.
I made my way into my room, though when I saw what waited for me there, I froze.
Hayley, Camille, and Davina sat on my bed in their pajamas, a pile of liquor bottles between them. "What's this?"
"We thought after the last twenty four hours, it'd be good to have a girls night in." Hayley offered flippantly. "Maybe bond a little bit."
"Oh you did, did you?" I laid my towel on the top of my desk chair. "And what makes any of you think I'd want to do that?"
"Get your ass on this bed so we can be friends." Camille challenged. "You're the only one who refuses to even try."
"Fine." They were apparently determined to make this work and they'd roped Davina into it too. I'd give them one night if it made them shut up.
I sat cross legged on the bed, leaning against one of the four pillars.
Two hybrids, a witch, and a therapist. Sounded like the start of a bad joke.
"Let's play truth or dare." Hayley shifted. "Davina, you go first."
"Truth, I guess." Her hands were folded awkwardly in her lap. At least I wasn't the only one who was uncomfortable.
"What's your favorite spell?"
"That's easy, this." She held out her hand, palm up, and muttered something under her breath. A flower bloomed in the center of her hand. She turned to Camille. "Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"If Finn isn't your Original, who's your favorite?"
Camille's cheeks grew red. "They're all fine."
"Too vague, you have to choose." Hayley insisted.
"Mines Freya, easily." I grabbed a bottle, intending to keep it entirely to myself. Hayley nodded.
"Between Rebekah and Elijah for me."
"It'd be biased to pick my own patient." Camille picked at my comforter. "But if I had to, it'd be Klaus."
Davina's brow furrowed, and she frowned at me. "Aren't you and Klaus married?"
"Yes."
"So why isn't it him?"
"Don't get me wrong, I love him, however, Freya's never pulled any shit with me, and that's why she's my favorite." I tipped the bottle in a cheers, before taking a swig.
"Okay, okay, it's my turn. Maverick, truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"I dare you to tell us what you would have been had you not been a hybrid."
"Camille, you have to give me an actual dare or it defeats the purpose of asking."
"Are you chickening out?" Her brow raised.
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes. "I don't know. Probably a lone wolf." I hadn't really thought about it that long. "Maybe I would've met the Winchesters still and lived with them a while."
"You'd choose to be a hunter?" Hayley took her own bottle. "Against wolves?"
"It's not betraying my own kind if the system I grew up in never gave a shit about me." It had been a hard realization. That despite what my pack might have claimed, they didn't love me. To them all I was meant for was bearing children and serving my husband. "Hayley, truth or dare?"
"Woah, woah, are we not going to talk about that?" Camille shifted.
"I'm not drunk enough to go in depth about my past." Speaking of which, I hadn't actually had a real drink since I got pregnant with Bennett. "And as soon as they get back, this little 'girls night' is over."
Davina shifted, her expression sobering. "Do you think they would've done it? Killed us?"
"It was like Elijah was a different person. I couldn't get to him." There was a haunted look in Hayley's eyes.
"That's because you're not used to his psychotic side." I fiddled with the bottle in my hands. "This wasn't the first time I had to run from Klaus while he was actively trying to kill me. There is no reasoning with them when they're in that state of mind."
"Isn't that how you got him to not kill you the first time? You made a deal right?" Hayley asked. "That's what Tyler said."
"I have no idea why he let me live that day, though maybe he planned it. His house was ready to keep me there once I stepped on the property and that had to take some prep."
"And he's trapped her here too." Davina nodded. "He's used the witches for the boundary spell."
"Fucking boundary spells are the bane of my existence." I took another sip, savoring the burn. "I hate them. How Klaus always has a witch willing to do it is beyond me."
"I have an idea. Let's play never have I ever, but if we have, we drink."
"I second that." Camille helped herself to the stash, handing a lighter liquor to Davina. "Never have I ever, killed someone."
That was a no brainer. I took a swig. Hayley and Davina did as well. "Never have I ever had only one baby in a year."
Hayley rolled her eyes but took a drink. "Never have I ever been raised in a culty group."
Davina and Camille surprisingly downed their liquor with me, muttering their respective 'Witch' and a vague 'college'.
"Never have I ever kissed Tyler." I shot back pointedly.
"Fucker." Hayley saluted me, but did drink. "Never have I ever been one of Klaus' sired hybrids."
"Never have I ever slept with Elijah."
"Never have I ever been married."
