Forty seven

"Marcel I need you here, hidden away with Bennett." I paced in the 'no magic zone' that'd been established by Kol's witch.

"It's way too dangerous." He shook his head.

"Which is exactly why I can't have my son there. I have to face Klaus. It's the only way to keep the rest of you in the shadows."

"And why you shouldn't be in Klaus' line of fire. Bennett needs his mom and you have two on the way. He doesn't let people in, and from what you've told me, he's let you in. He'll be blind with rage."

"My back up has disappeared entirely and the Winchesters aren't answering my calls. You are my only option."

"Why can't Davina watch him?"

"Because Davina doesn't have the speed that you do." I shot back, this was so bad. The Lucifer imprisonment had to have gone poorly. That's the only thing I could think of. "And I also don't trust Davina. I can count on one hand the number of people I'll let hold Bennett here, much less have him out of my sight. Please Marcel."

"Fine." He held out his hands.

Reluctantly, I unclipped Bennett's carrier. "If anything goes wrong or you get so much as a bad feeling, I want you to go here." I pulled a piece of paper out of my pocket. It had Jody's address on it. "Tell her that Maverick sent you and that Bennett would be safer with her than me. She's a part time hunter, so just be weary, alright?"

"You're sending a supernatural baby to a bunch of hunters?" His brow rose.

"I trust them. They protected me, and they'll protect him." If the boys were with her, then that would be ideal.

"Would it be safe for Davina?"

"Maybe." It wouldn't be unheard of for Jody to take her in. "Just, promise me. Better yet, why not start making your way there now with them both. Hayley is about to provide a much needed distraction. It'll be perfect."

"Remind me why you can't go?"

"Because Klaus won't kill me, and if both Bennett and Hope are out of the equation, neither will Dahlia." I crossed my arms. "He'd most certainly kill Davina, and maybe even you if you pissed him off enough."

Marcel wrapped his arms around Bennett. "Freya's already working on tricking Dahlia. I may have moved her spell work along, and it's almost ready. If they have that, we could both leave."

Fuck.

"What about your plan. I thought you had one that got us all out alive."

"It could very well go wrong. And likely will."

"Shit Marcel. That's super. The entire reason I did this was because I thought you knew what you were doing."

"I do." He insisted.

"Really? Because it doesn't feel like it. Marcel if this doesn't work, I'm going to kill you, and I was trained on how to murder vampires, even if I didn't bite you." I shifted on my feet. "And might I remind you that the only cure is Klaus' blood."

"Thank you, very enlightening." He grinned.

"I'm serious. Or if that address gets in Original hands. You're dead to me."

"That hurts Maverick." Marcel put his hand on his chest. "It's like you don't trust me."

"Only out of necessity."

"Point is, I wish we could get both of you out of here." He looked down. "Well, all four of you."

"We can't all get what we want, Gerard. No, I'd rather you get my son to safety, let me worry about the other two." I reached out, brushing the through the soft curls on Bennett's head. "Save my baby."

"I'll come back, just as soon as they're safe at your Jody's."

"Don't. Stay up there. Be out of the way. I'll work on soothing Klaus' rage and I'll text Jody when it's safe to come back." Was I ready? To be so far from Bennett after he's practically been attached to me.

It was to protect him from Dahlia.

He would be safe. Even though I'd hate being so far from my sweet boy. I couldn't be selfish with him.

"Fine." Marcel pat Bennett's back.

"Bye my baby, mommy loves you so much." I pressed a kiss to Bennett's forehead, and he looked up, reaching for me in confusion. "You say hi to your uncles for me, okay? They're gonna take care of you."

"He's not going to be away from you for long."

I fought back tears, refusing to cry. "I promised myself I wouldn't do this to him again."

"You're not, without his psycho great aunt, he wouldn't need to go anywhere."

He was right. "I'm going to walk away, because if I don't, I know I won't." It was hard to.

Gods I couldn't do it.

"Maverick, go."
