Gross

We were getting ready for the party and Eleanor decided on a sparkly flowy dress and I wore a satin skirt with a crop top. Dillon, however, was coming in and out of her room with outfits.

"Just wear that pleated skirt and that cute top!" Len shouted.

"Don't worry about your outfit alright, it's about having a good time." She came back out in a floral dress with lace trimmings. It went to her mid thigh and she wore white boots.

"That's perfect," Len said, wanting to go. I couldn't blame her, we'd been sitting on this couch for half an hour.

"It's not about having a good time because Miles is going to be there and I like him and I don't know why I like him because he looks like he is always having a bad day but now I've met him and he seems like a good person and he mentioned he was going to the party and I'm stressed." She took a much needed breath and I stood up and went to her.

"You are the cutest person in the world. Now please, grab a bag and we're going, because you look gorgeous and if it's meant to be then it's meant to be. I think he likes you because as you said he doesn't always look happy, but the way he smiles when he talks to you is really adorable. If it doesn't work out, you have us."

Thankfully she smiled and she got her bag and we headed out.

As soon as I had walked in the party several things occurred. Eleanor followed Blake and they began dancing, Miles found Dillon and they were laughing away in a corner, and my brother and Cohen found me and haven't left my side since.

Cohen leaned down and whispered in my ear, "you look beautiful by the way." I looked up and smiled. He looked handsome too, and I wanted to say it, but I felt my brothers presence.

"Hey Gray, I love you, but I think Cohen is protection enough, go have fun. Eleanor is alone out there and she's had a few drinks, she probably needs more watching than I do," I suggested.

"Yeah, your right, wouldn't want anything happening to her. I'll just endure her annoying personality." He gravitated to her and I laughed. I know Eleanor, she can have 10 tequila shots and will still be able to swore off a threat.

"Nice going, now I can do this," Cohen said and he brought me into him, holding my waist and he swayed us side to side.

"You're dancing?" I asked surprised.

"For you I am." I smiled. This is nice.

I saw Dillon and Miles, it was funny how nice he looked when he was with her.

Then I watched my brother watch Eleanor. It was almost a relief that he had feelings. I just hoped that it went okay.

She looked so free, her hair waving everywhere and the lights bouncing off her dress. A guy joined her and I saw my brother cross his arms. The guy was very touchy and Eleanor just kept dancing. I guess she was used to this.

She turned and kissed the guy, which I was a little shocked by, and I saw my brother walk away.

"Did you see that?" I asked.

"Yeah, that's gotta hurt."

"They both aren't fit for relationships, all I know is that they like each other. It's going to be a disaster." He nodded in agreement and we kept dancing.

It was very crowded, and I was trying to have fun and focus on Cohen but it was difficult. I was knocked accidentally and Cohen held me and I deep breathed.

"You want to go somewhere?" He asked.

"Yes please."

We walked outside to the back porch and there was a seat there. He sat down and brought me next to him.

"You okay?" He asked.

"Now I am, it was very crowded."

"You looked uncomfortable."

"I don't really go to these things, it's more Eleanor's thing."

"I can tell."

"So, you feel like reading?" I asked.

"You didn't," he said.

I opened my bag and took out my small copy of Metamorphosis by Kafka.

"You did," he said, and laughed.

"Oh shush."

"Right sorry, begin," he said.

"Did we all just collectively do nothing yesterday?" Blake asked at our breakfast table.

"A lot of you were hungover," I said looking at Eleanor and my brother.

Eleanor being hungover wasn't a surprise but Cohen had to leave with Graham so he could carry him home.

"I wasn't that bad," my brother argued.

"Dude," Cohen said, "you don't even remember anything."

"I do. There were lights." Cohen laughed at his attempt at an excuse.

"Well, we take it back then," I said sarcastically. "But Dillon had fun."

She smiled, blushing.

"That is adorable," Len said. "So are you guys like, together?"

"No of course not," she said sternly. Just as she assured us, Miles came over to the table all brooding and miserable. He said nothing, he just took her hand and they left.

"She is a little liar. Look at them."

"She's shy and he says nothing, so they are together they just haven't spoken about it," I concluded. "I think." Then Cohen joined in.

"I'm just confused that she likes him. He is so...," he couldn't come up with a word, "and she's so..."

"Yeah I get it, they're opposites," Blake added.

"I guess opposites do attract," I said.

"Not always," Eleanor said.

"I'll see you guys later," my brother groaned and he got up and stormed away.

"What's wrong with him?" Eleanor asked and Cohen and I just shrugged our shoulders. She eyed us both.

"I don't know if I'm happy with this little alliance," she said and waved her finger at the both of us.

Cohen turned my face towards him and he flipped her off as he kissed me softly.

"There are people around, looking," Len commented.

"What about the other night, people were looking then too." Cohen added.

"Are you talking about that guy I kissed?" She asked and he nodded. "That was harmless."

"Not completely."

"Why am I listening to you anyway, you've never been in a relationship, no offence Luce."

"I am now." I looked at him and smiled.

"Gross," she said as she got up and we laughed. "I'm going to class, I'll see you guys later."

"She is in complete denial," Blake said and Cohen and I faced him. Blake studies philosophy and ethics and all that stuff and he comes out with the wildest conclusions every now and again.

"What about?" I asked, intrigued at the words that were forthcoming.

"She clearly has feelings for your brother, but she doesn't know what to do with those feelings because she is scared. We all know Graham isn't the friendliest of people, so she's worried he doesn't feel the same.

"But what she doesn't realise is that he is dealing with the same problem. He is also torn because you are her best friend and he is so used to not liking her. He was also clearly jealous last night and now when Eleanor mentioned that opposites don't always attract. They are an example of opposite people as they have disliked each other for many years."

He was done and he took a sip of water before standing up and putting headphones on.

"Bye guys."

"interesting," I said.

"Where did all that come from?"

"I have no idea but he is pretty observant and it makes sense. They'll figure it out," I concluded and I turned to him. "Also, you're in a relationship? Why didn't you tell me?" I said sarcastically.

"You're in one too." I acted surprised and so he ruffled my hair. "What do you have first?"

"Creative writing." We got up and started walking out. He was carrying my book-bag along with his own.

"That's not with that guy, right?"

"No, he's not in that class," I said laughing. "What do you have?"

"Oh, I've got specialist maths."

"Gross."

"You know what isn't gross," he said and he yanked me to the side and against the wall.

"Cohen, people are around."

"Shh." He grabbed my waist and leant down and kissed me. I felt his hands on my face and I melted into him.

"Definitely not gross," I decided.
