Graduation
It was career day meaning we were all separated. We had to go to our respective career fields to learn all about possible jobs and pathways. It just made exams more stressful.
Instead of focusing in my lecture, I was wondering why I've never asked Graham what he wants to do. History, sociology and a word I can't pronounce but it's about human societies and cultures and whatever. I promise I care.
His studies are so confusing. Cohen was a math geek, Lucy was words, Dillon was the economy, Blake was about ethics and human rights and I was all scripts and entertainment. But what was history and society?
I focused back on my lecture and wondered what I'd end up doing. I just want to be involved in movies, that was my bare minimum. It was a start.
The entire day was important yet so exhausting, I had practically crawled to Graham's room.
"Come here," he said as he laid in bed, his arms outstretched.
I crawled on the bed to him and he wrapped his arms around as I dropped on him.
"How was your day? Know what you want to do?"
"I know I don't want to leave you, and I don't want to go back to my mother's place." I said, hinting at another conversation.
There was only a month left of living here. Exams were in a couple weeks, then it was graduation and then that was it. The place we lived and grew at for several years was going to be free of us.
"You always have to beat me to things. I wanted to formally ask you to come stay at Luce and I's until we move out together." I raised my head to look at him, my chin resting on his chest.
"Really?" I said, happy that he's thought about it.
"Yes, really." He reached over to his nightstand and opened the draw. "I was going to do something else during that conversation." He took out a little tiny drawstring bag and I sat up beside him as he handed it to me.
I opened it, finding a little gold intertwined ring with cute little diamond crests on it. I kissed him softly, as I put it on. I held his hand where he wore my ring I had gotten him for his birthday, that was bloody 3 months ago.
"I love it Ray, now we're forever." He smiled and kissed me again, looking at my hand.
"I'm glad you love it."
I laid down beside him and then I began thinking again.
"Hey Gray?"
"Yes siren."
"What do you study exactly?" He laughed and then started explaining.
"Well I study art history, world history, sociology and anthropology." That was the long word I didn't know how to say. "So I study the human society and its history, structure etcetera. Their cultures and developments and whatnot."
"Okay, that's interesting. So then what do you want to do?"
"I wasn't sure for a while but I think I want to be a paralegal, that works with civil and political law."
"Now that is fancy, a paralegal. Graham Bradford, the paralegal." He laughed at me again.
"What about you miss actress."
"Well all I know is that I want to be involved in making movies, and that's all I've got so far."
"And that's plenty for now."

Grahams pov
I had woken up and was now just lying with Eleanor. My Eleanor.
She looked tired while she slept. But that was because we had finally finished our exams yesterday.
My sister and I weren't going to be at school anymore. The next year at home while we work is going to be the last time we live together and a part of me is scared. Not having her in walking distance is worrying. Makes me uneasy. I looked at Eleanor instead, happy for an our future.
Her furrowed brows, pouted lips, how she snored softly. Her hair was always messy and everywhere in the morning, I missed that.
She was curled in a little ball facing me, my arms wrapped around her.
Holding her was my favourite hobby.
I looked to my door as it opened and Cohen was there. He brought his finger to his mouth, telling me to be quiet. No shit mate. Then he gestured for me to go out with him.
I slowly let go of her, kissing her forehead before I got up slowly.
I made it outside to our living area where Cohen sat waiting.
"Good morning," he said to me and I looked at him. His leg was bouncing and he looked nervous.
"Did you get my sister pregnant?" I asked him. He immediately went red.
"No, oh my god, no. I didn't, I promise. Very careful." I laughed at how scared he got.
"Then spit it out what's wrong with you?"
"So, as you're aware of, my family is rich."
"Yes I know." I said, having no idea where he was going with this.
"Well, when I turned 18 I had rights to my trust fund, which is pretty hefty as my parents have been putting in since I was born until I turned 18."
"Can you get to the point trust fund," I said and he gave me a look at my nickname and then finally went on.
"I was just asking you if I could ask Lucy if she could live with me after school. I've already found a few places in Edinburgh, so what do you think?" He finished. My sister is going to be so happy. Although that means I only have one week left living the same place with her.
She loves Edinburgh, she made me stop a few times then on the drive to school. It was far away from Ardwick though.
"I think that's a great idea, and I'm grateful you're so good to her. But only if she agrees with it." He exhaled with relief. "But when are you planning to ask exactly?"
"Well," he said grabbing a small red velvet box. "This Saturday, at Graduation."
He handed me the box and I opened it, it was like my sister in the form of a ring. I couldn't believe she was going to be engaged, my sister and childhood best friend were getting married.
I couldn't wait for it to at our so I could talk to Luce.
"Alright, well I should get back before she wakes up, thank you," he said and when we stood up he hugged me.
"We're going to be brothers," he said and I chuckled at his excitement.
"We are anyway."
"I knew you were a sap." He stated before going in his room.
I stood for a moment before going back to Eleanor, just thinking about how different like was about to be.
I laid back down, wanting the comfort of her around me.
"Why did you leave?"
"Cohen wanted to talk to me."
"About?"
"He's going to ask Luce to move in with him after graduation."
Her eyes widened, "oh my god, Lucy is going to be so happy."
"Yeah, I know." I said, sounding a lot less enthusiastic than she did.
"But you'll be far away from her. Sorry handsome," she said kissing me softly as she cuddled into me.
"It's alright, I'll have you."

Eleanor's pov
Today was the day everything changed. We were leaving our teenage years. Well, the second half anyway.
Even though we were technically adults, we actually had to go be them.
I settled on a fitted shirt and low waisted kitten pants with kitten heels. Luce in a pleated skirt and a big knit with knee high boots, and Dillon in a floral maxi skirt and a button cardigan and platform sandals. All these years, waiting for this day, I took a mental picture of the three of us.
We got our digital cameras that we've been snapping photos with all day. We were in the room with our caps and gowns, putting them on and taking photos. Navy blue and white. Very greek... I see you Sophia.
Graham, Cohen and Blake walked in, the first two were one of the first ones along with Lucy. Gray was graduating first.
They were laughing when they came in and then saw us.
Blake and Cohen were wearing jeans and shirts the formers clothes more baggy than the latters. And my man was wearing suit pants and a white button up. Which was highly attractive and sexy.
"Are you staring at me Miss Hamilton?" He asked sarcastically, as he gazed over me, licking his lips. "We match," he said, smiling as his hands snake around my waist under the gown.
Cohen looked nervous, which made me laugh.
Blake came towards me and Graham kept hold of me but allowed me to face him.
"Whta's wrong with Cohen? You look gorg by the way," he added.
"He's asking Luce to move in with him." I whispered excitedly, glancing at graham.
"He's also proposing to her today." Graham aded as if this wasnt giant news.
"What!" I shouted happily, I looked at the others who were confused and so I smiled awkwardly and faced Gray again. "You haven't told me this."
"I thought I did."
"That's so great for them," Blake said.
"I know," I agreed, smiling at Gray. He looked happy too, and I leaned up to kiss him.
"That is my cue." Blake said and left us.
Luce leaned into Cohen, noticing he was nervous but probably assuming it was graduation.
"Here Dill, so we're not left out," Blake said as put his arm around her. She blushed shyly and laughed. He then whispered something in her ear and she covered her mouth with her hand.
She looked at me and mouthed 'omg' and I mouthed back 'I know'.
"All of us knowing didn't really take long did it?" Gray said.
"I just can't believe you didn't tell me."
"I'm sorry, I will never do it again." He said, kissing me and making me forget what I was amd at him for.
"We have to get your caps and gowns before all the good ones are gone."
"There's like 500 hundred here and there's only like 90 students in our year."
"Yes, but what about the 12th years who are graduating." He gave me a 'whatever' look and then he me drag him.
Once we were ready, we had to get in alphabetical order and I was kind of in the middle of our friends, all alone. The lovely twins got to be together with Cohen just 3 people away. Then Dillon and Blake were 5 people apart. It made the walk around to where the graduation was happening lonely.
They set it up, like they do each year in front of the hill.
We were there, all lined up and ready.
Graham and Lucy were waving to their mother, and Dillon to hers as well. Her father was currently travelling with his boyfriend, and Blake's Uncle was "too busy". Mine and Cohen's parents didn't show, what a shock. But we had the Bradfords to call family now. Oh my god. I just realised Lucy and I are going to be sisters!
Names were beginning to be called, I felt myself start to get nervous. I kept looking to the ground, out of anxiousness and well, the sun wasn't helping either.
I glanced up after a while hearing the B last names beginning to get called. Gray was already looking back at me. I exhaled, calming down a bit.
"Graham William Bradford." He walked up, with all the confidence and suave. After receiving his qualification he smiled to his sister who was next.
"Lucy Rose Bradford." She walked up, all grace and elegance, but to the people that knew her, we were aware of her anxiousness. She joined her brother and they both stood looking at their childhood best friend. Their mother, Suzie,k was crying at this point, and it warmed my heart.
"Cohen Francis Brooks."
Cohen walked up, all cute and charming, and Suzie clapped and cheered for him and he looked so happy in that moment. Suzie is going to be his new mum too. I guess mine as well, unofficially. I feel so lucky.
I glanced back at Dillon, she looked a little stressed, not surprising. Her future was bright. I knew she would be so successful, it's her destiny. I just hoped her destiny wasn't too far away. All my friends, these 5 special people we my family and I never wanted to lose them.
"Eleanor Marie Hamilton." I hadn't realised I reached the steps until now, it was my time. I saw Gray and Luce and I smiled. We were ready. This gave me enough confidence as I walked on the stage to accept my qualification. I glanced to the audience and saw Suzie taking a picture of me and smiling proudly. It made me tear up.
I joined my family, hugging Lucy happily and finding comfort in Gray's tall figure.
"Why are you crying?" Gray said, as his thumb caught a tiny tear drop from my waterline.
"I'm not crying, but I was just so grateful when your mother smiled from the audience."
"She loves you, I sent her a letter, well I've sent her a few over the past couple months about us, but she is so happy, she can be your new mother." He said and it became harder and harder to hide the giant smile on my face. He leaned my cap back so he could kiss me.
"Dillon Anne Leighton." We all watched our friend giddily walk up and take her much-deserved qualification, she got an honorary, so did Cohen. The smarty pants'.
She practically skipped towards us looking relieved.
"Happy that school is over Dill?" Cohen asked her,
"Happy I finally have what I need to do my economics degree." She stated, waving her qualification certificate.
We all laughed softly at her, our psycho genius.
"Blake Edward Maxwell."
He, expectedly, walked up as if he was taking a stroll, like it was no big deal. He humbly walked over to us and we were all smiling, our achievements in our grasp.
"Well that's that," Blake said. He glanced at me and smiled, and then I went and hugged him, dragging Lucy, then Graham and eventually we were in a group hug.
<><><><><><>
We were with Suzie, on the hill, and she took photos of all of us.
She had hugged me and congratulated me, but she also welcomed me into her family, and she really meant it, it was so comforting. I'm so grateful.
She dragged her daughter and Cohen to our picture spot and I notice Cohen give Graham a look and so I rushed next to him, knowing what was going happen.
Cohen held Lucy's hand and she smiled unknowingly to him. Then he dropped to one knee and her face went still.
"Lucy Rose Bradford. I have known you for pretty much my entire life." Dillon, Blake, Graham and I were watching happily and I noticed Suzie getting emotional again as she watched.
"I have seen all sides of you, fallin in love with each and every one deeper each day. I've seen your lows and loved you, I've seen you stressed and loved you, I've seen how free you are when you ride, and I love you, and I've stared intently while you read and read, and god do I love you. I hope I can create a life with you that if you read would make you incredibly happy. So," he said, Lucy crying at this point as he took out a small velvet box and opened it. "Will you marry me?" He asked her and she never broke her gaze from him as she dropped down to him and kissed him.
"Absolutely."
"Oh my goodness," Suzie said, taking dozens of photos. She turned to the 4 of us, our happy smiles. "Did you know about this?" We all nodded. "So it was just me who nearly had a heart attack."
Cohen and Lucy were still talking, happy and engaged, and then Lucy walked over to where Graham and I stood.
"Gray, Cohen asked me to move in with him, in Edinburgh!"
"I know, you love Edinburgh, you're going to be so happy. Congratulations," he said and kissed her forehead.
"Yes, thank you, but that means we'll be so far away, I don't know if I like that."
"Well, you know we'll visit each other, and talk, it will be okay, I want this for you, you deserve it."
She teared up and wrapped her arms around him.
Then she turned to me, "I'm getting married!" She said ecstatically.
"I know, I'm so bloody happy for you."
"Me too," Dillon joined, hugging her. Graham smiled before joining Cohen and Blake.
"We'll stick together, right?" I said to them. They both smiled.
"No matter how far apart," Luce said.
"We always will," Dillon finished.
