Two Faced - PP

(CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY BOTH TUWAINE AND HARRY POSTED ABOUT THE RACE AND TOM DID NOT???)

This is a request from @RayofReading I hope it's what you were imagining!

Word count: 2030 (kinda long😬)

You sat in the living room at Avengers Headquarters. It was Game Night.

Your father, aka, the great Tony Stark was rolling the dice for monopoly.

"Take a blow Pep," he said, holding his hand out. Pepper gently blew on the dice, and the billionaire genius rolled a pair of sixes. "Sweet. Your turn Parker."

Your attention shifted to Peter, who was sitting opposite you, kneeling on the ground next to the coffee table. Aside him was his perfect little girlfriend Hailey.

Giggling, she twirled strands of Peter's hair over and over in her fingers. "Good luck babe." She whispered in his ear, causing the brunette male's arm hair to stand up straight.

The dice shot across the table, and Peter ended up buying lakeside property.

The group murmured in congratulations, as you sat up a little straighter. When it finally came your turn, a three was rolled, sending you to jail.

"Oh, that's too bad," Hailey pouted at you, before winking smugly so quickly that you almost didn't see it.

You fought off a glare, and just faked a smile of thanks in response.

After the game was finished, the whole group headed into the kitchen.

You and Nat were at the fridge, and she was talking about God knows what, while you stared intently at Peter. He was chatting with Hailey and Tony. Tony's arm was slung over Hailey's shoulder, as he laughed at something she said.

You and Peter used to be best friends. You were his closest confidante and he was yours. You, if not understood, was at least there to hear about the pressures of being Spider-Man, and he was there to hear about the large legacy you had to live up to.

Then Hailey came into the picture, about six months ago. She easily took your place in Peter's heart. But now she was replacing you in your father's eyes too. Pep invited her over to dinner at least once a week, and the other Avengers simply adored her.

It seemed like you were fading out of their hearts. Not to mention you were the only one who saw Hailey as the complete and mega bitch she was.

Her escapades ranged from the casual trip in the hallway, to locking you outside in the pouring rain. Snarky comments when nobody else could hear. And maybe it was just to express their love, but anytime you walked into the room, she would pull Peter into the steamiest kiss, making him forget all about you.

"Y/n? Y/n?" Nat snapped in front of your face. "You're doing it again."

"Doing what?"

"Staring..." she followed your gaze over to the trio, shaking her head. "I know I've asked you this before but-"

"No, I don't like Peter," you finished for her, shaking your head through your lie. "It's just... I don't like Hailey."

"Don't be like that Y/n she's sweet."

"Yeah, sure." You mumbled, "I'm gonna go to my room I think."

"Y/n wait! You're being ridiculous!" Nat called after you, but you didn't care, just stayed intent upon walking out of that room.

Face flopping onto the bed, you started to cry into your pillow. Your father hardly payed attention to you.

When Peter was the pure focus of his paternal instincts, you didn't mind. If anyone deserved them, it was Peter.

Hailey didn't deserve it though.

Someone knocked on your door. Raising your head a bit, you shouted, "go away!"

"Y/n..." you heard Tony sigh. Despite your persisting yells, he entered. "Honey I saw you leave and I just thought-"

"Leave me alone Dad."

"Y/n don't be like that."

He sat down on the edge of your bed, resting his hand on your back.

"Like what?" Your response was muffled by the pillow.

"Like... so... standoffish. I know that you like Spideyboy-"

"I don't like him Dad."

"Very funny. You can lie to Nat and Wanda but I'm your dad, I see right through you." You grimaced at this, huffing. "Anyway, I know it's hard for you to see him with the girl, but, you should at least try and get used to her. Once you get to know her she's really-"

"If you say nice-"

"Nice." Tony finished. "I don't understand why you don't like her. In the end, you should want him to be happy. And if this Hailey girl makes him happy, then..."

"Do you like her more than me?" You asked bluntly, turning over so you faced your father.

"What?!"

"Hailey. Do you like Hailey more than me."

"O-of course not Y/n that's a silly question. You're my daughter, how could I like her more than you?"

"Your dad liked-"

"Don't say it." Tony echoed you, but this time you listened.

"Fine. I won't say it. But don't pretend that it isn't true that parents can love their children less than practical strangers."

"Y/n, do you really think that I love Hailey more than you? I mean, the girl's sweet and all, but everything is in one ear and out the next."

"Dad there's been something I've been meaning to tell you, and I know you won't believe me, but... Hailey's a bitch."

"Pardon me?" Tony chuckled.

"Yeah, I mean she-she does all this wicked stuff to me, a-and she-"

"Y/n."

"What?"

"You can't just pretend that she's mean just because you like Pete. I know it's hard, not being with the person you love, not to mention seeing them with somebody else. But... if fate-and I-allow, then maybe one day you and him'll be together."

"Wow Dad. I didn't know you could be such a sentimentalist."

"I can be sentimental!" Tony exclaimed, laughing a bit.

"Just... can I be alone for now?"

"Alright, if that's what you want. I'll be tinkering if you need me."

Rolling over into your back, you sighed. Nobody understood. And you didn't know if they ever would.

"Nice Y/n, nice, really jab, yeah that's it!" Steve yelled, holding his hands up for you as you punched away.

Sweat glistened on your forehead, falling down your cheek.

"Hey, up for a match?" Peter asked, hopping into the ring.

Steve raised a brow at you and you nodded in confirmation. "Ready to suck ass Parker?"

"Language!" Steve shouted, hopping out of the boxing ring.

"Mother fu-" you and Peter started at the exact same time.

"Don't even try," Steve warned, but there was a slight smile along with his threat.

"So how's Hailey," you asked between punches, your voice tense.

"Y'know, she's good. Coming over, should be here in about five minutes."

"Oh." You said, letting your guard down for a second. Peter easily threw a shot to your rib cage. "Um, do you wanna wrap this up then? If she's coming?"

"You kidding? We just started! Hails'll just watch, she doesn't mind."

"Alright," you whispered, starting to throw your shots harder and harder. One swift punch to the head and Peter was down. "Oh my gosh! A-are you alright? Pete I'm so sorry!" You knelt down beside him instantly.

"Yeah, no, I'm good," he chuckled leaning up a bit. "Wow. Got some anger to blow off, eh?"

"Oh, uh, yeah, just a bit."

"Everything good?" He asked sincerely.

"It's just- never mind."

"Y/n it's me, you can tell me anything," he said, rubbing your arm, sitting up all the way.

"Can I though?" Peter stared back at you clueless. "Ever since you started dating Hailey... you haven't had time for me. And I get it, she's your girlfriend, but you're my only friend. I just, I miss you... and it's just Hailey's-"

"Hailey's what?" Both of your heads whipped back to see the devil in person.

"Hailey! Babe, uh, you're early," Peter stuttered, standing up, wiping the hand that rested on your arm.

"What's going on here? Peter?" Her lower lip trembled, and tears welled in her eyes. If you hadn't known what a bitch she was, you'd feel sorry for her. But I mean, damn could that girl act.

"Nothing, Hails I swear," Peter hopped out the ring, walking over to her. "We were just boxing.  I'm going to go shower off, and then we'll uh- we'll go up to my room."

"Kay," she smiled, allowing Peter to kiss her cheek.

You got out of the ring as well, reaching for the towel you had on the floor.

Wiping the beads of sweat from your body, you looked up to see Hailey only a foot away from you.

"You think you're soooo clever don't you," she scoffed.

"Wh- I don't know what you're talking about."

"I see how you look at Peter Y/n. Always have and always will."

"Y'know one day everyone's going to see you for the dickhead you are," you spat, finding the confidence grow inside you.

"Oh I don't think so. I mean, gosh, if anyone'd told me that one day the entire Avengers would dote on me, I wouldn't believe it. If they'd say that Tony Stark loved me more than his own daughter - I'd be astonished!" She laughed dryly. "But you listen here. No one, will ever love you. Peter will never love you. Don't you see? I have him wrapped around my finger. All it takes, is one word from me, and you're out of his life for good. You're nothing, Y/n Stark. Always have been, always will be."

"That's enough!" Tony Stark's voice rang out loudly in the large gym. Next to him was an astonished Peter, and the rest of the Avengers, looking equal parts shocked and disgusted.

"Hailey?" Peter questioned, his voice hurt. "How could you... but I thought..."

"Peter! Baby, we were just joking!" Hailey's shrill voice raises about five octaves, as she ran over to Peter. "Tell him Y/n! Tell him!"

"Y/n?" Peter asked you, looking over Hailey's head, directly at you.

"Not to mention Hailey's a bitch." You finished your sentence from earlier, joining the team by the door.

"Peter, I can explain, please, just-" Hailey's words faded away, as she followed a fuming Peter to a quieter place to talk.

"What did I tell ya?" You asked your father.

"I'm so sorry, I-I had no idea."

"Evidently."

"Y/n, we should've believed you," Nat said, her voice calm, not unlike the one she uses to calm down Bruce after he turns into the Hulk.

"We're so sorry," Tony finished, bringing you into a hug.

"It's okay." You replied weakly, hugging your father back.

"Y/n? Can I come in?" Peter knocked on your bedroom door later that night.

"Yeah," you replied, setting down your book.

"Listen Hailey-" he started, once he got to your bed.

"Is a thing of the past," you interrupted him. "I've heard a lot about Hailey in the last six months. I think we can be done talking about her for now."

"I just wanted to apologise. I had no idea... why didn't you tell me?"

"Because... you're my best friend. And you were happy. And you probably wouldn't have believed me."

"That's not true," he protested.

"Oh c'mon Peter, you were obsessed with the girl!"

"Was not!"

"Uh, was too!"

He shoved you lightly onto your back, and you sighed. "This feels normal," he noted, lying down next to you.

"When was the last time we had a Y/n/Peter movie night, just the two of us?" You asked him, turning on your side, so your e/c eyes met his brown ones.

"Is that an invitation?"

"Oh definitely," you laughed, picking up the remote.

Telling him how you really felt could wait; for now, it was just nice to have your friend back.

Okay, so the ending wasn't exactly what I was planning, but I thought it was fitting with the story. Also, one more day of freedom for me😓 and then back to school☹️ updates'll probably be more scarce.
