Toast -

Okay, so anything like this in italics is a flashback/memory connected to what Tom is saying. That sounds kinda confusing but I think it will make more sense when you read it. Also, this is set at your rehearsal dinner.

Tom's POV
I stood up, clinking my spoon against the edge of my champagne flute. "Thank you, thank you," I said as the room quieted down. "Well I'd like to start off by saying thank you to everyone for being with Y/n and I tonight, it really means a lot." I smiled, glancing down at the girl who would become my wife tomorrow. "I thought I'd tell the story of how we got engaged. Uh, so I know that lots of people propose on an anniversary, or Valentines Day, or something. At the very least most people do it at a fancy dinner, or out on a date. I uh, well I did not," I chuckled, shaking my head lightly.

"No," I continued, "I proposed in our house, dressed in sweats. I didn't choose to propose to Y/n in some big way, no skywriting, not even flowers. Just me, and a ring, a sign of our love if you will. Because if I know one constant in  Y/n's future, that is me, and our love. And I knew that our love is strong and pure, no matter if we're out at a five star restaurant, or in our pyjamas watching Friends." The room chuckled, as I flipped to my next index card.

"I remember, when I first realised that Y/n was, hopefully, going to be the woman who would one day become my wife. We were just eating dinner, it was pizza actually. I had come home from a long shoot, and she was just, waiting for me, food in hand. And I thought to myself, wow. I want to marry her. Of course I couldn't say anything, and it took me for about eternity to get the balls to actually propose, but I remember that feeling, clear as day."

Slamming the door shut, I lay my back against it, burying my face in my hands.

"Fuck." I muttered, dropping my stuff on the ground next to me. The day had been horrible. The director was being unusually impossible, and I had twisted my neck during a stunt. And no matter how many takes we did, I couldn't manage I get this scene right.

Y/n called for me from the kitchen, and when I didn't answer, she came to me. "Oh Tom what's the matter?" She asked, rushing over to give me a hug once she saw my state.

"Nothing..." I whispered, playing with a loose strand of her h/c coloured hair. "You don't have to be bothered with my problems."

"You can always bother me with your problems. What you feel I feel love," She cooed, voice silky and calming.

"Just... just a rough day." I forced a small smile, looking into her eyes.

"I know what might cheer you up - I bought pizza, and it's getting cold, so c'mon!" She grinned, taking my hand and leading me into the dining room. "Here," she handed me a plate with a large slice of pizza on it, and I munched on it, much happier than I'd been a few minutes ago.

"How was your day?" I asked her as she dug into her own food.

"Fine I guess... I missed you," she admitted, blushing. I placed my hand over hers and shot her a smile that she immediately returned.

"I love you so much Y/n," I told her, looking deep into her eyes.

"I love you too Tom," she laughed, a confused look on her face. "That was kinda random," she giggled.

"I just don't tell you that often enough," I said, which was true. But what I left out was that when I looked into her eyes, I knew she was the woman I wanted to marry.

"It was the next week, when I told my father, and asked him for advice. Haz and the twins took me ring shopping, teasing me about being all gushy, but I knew deep inside they were happy for me."

"I think this one's cool," Harrison said, pointing to a small diamond ring.

"Harrison, I don't want cool, I want amazing, and beautiful... like Y/n." I shook my head at the ring.

"Geez Tom if you love her so much, why don't you just marry her?" Harry laughed, trailing behind.

"You're a dick." I told him, "Now can we all please focus? I need to find the perfect ring!"

We scanned several different stores, and yet I still couldn't find the one. Some of them were nice, but I didn't want nice, I wanted one that gave me no hesitation, that that was the ring for Y/n.

At about the sixth store, Sam pointed to a ring behind the counter. "Tom take a look at this one."

It was stunning. A sapphire set in the middle, surrounded by sixteen miniature diamonds. My heart skipped a beat when I saw it, and chills ran up my spine.

"This is it," I choked, feeling warm tears pool in my eyes.

"Aww, Tommy's getting a bit emotional," Harry teased, patting my shoulder.

"Shut up. You've never been in love, you don't know what it's like." I scolded him, before turning my attention back to the ring. "I'm getting it."

"But choosing the ring was the easy part. Deep down in me, I knew that Y/n would say yes of course, but that didn't stop me from being paranoid. I kept that ring in my nightstand for four weeks before I finally got up the courage to ask her. And when I did get the courage, well, I wasted no time."

I was sat with my back resting on the headboard, flipping the ring box open and shut, open and shut. Y/n was in the kitchen, making popcorn for movie night, and I thought long and hard to myself. This was it. I was going to do it, then and there.

She wouldn't say no. Why would she? We had talked about marriage before, and we'd been together for over three years. I could do this.

Stuffing the box into my hoodie pocket, I walked into the living room. "Alright," Y/n was holding a big bowl full of popcorn, "What are we going to watch?"

"Whatever you want babe," I replied, jumping onto the couch.

"What's up with you? You always have an opinion on movie night," Y/n faked a gasp, chuckling and sitting down. "Fine, we're watching Mamma Mia then (because Here We Go Again comes out soon and the hype is real)," Y/n flicked the television on, finding the movie. Midway through, we paused it, to get more refreshments. Trailing her into the kitchen, I paused at the island.

"Y/n..." I started to say, before getting all nervous again.

"What is it babe?" She smiled, getting out some more popcorn.

"Well I don't know how to put it... but I've loved you for almost as long as I've known you. You are the only woman I'll ever love, the only one I'll ever want to spend my life with. And I know that this isn't the huge proposal you were imagining, but..." I got into one knee, pulling the ring box out. "Will you marry me?"

"Oh my go... will I-... Tom... of course!" She cried, pulling me up by the biceps, embracing me into a monster hug. "I... I had no idea!" She wiped the corners of her eyes, flicking the tears away.

"I haven't been acting weird lately?"

"You're always a weirdo Tom," she joked, before leaning in to kiss me, "But you're going to be my weirdo."

"It was the happiest I'd ever been, when she said yes. But I am absolutely positive, that it will not be anywhere near the happiness I feel tomorrow, when I take Y/n as my wife. So can we all raise a glass, to my beautiful fiancée, Y/n."

"To Y/n!" The room cried, as I reached my hand out to her. She gladly accepted it, planting a small kiss on my knuckles.

"I love you Tom. And I can't wait to be your wife."

Guys I did it, I got to two imagines in one day! It's nearly midnight, but still, two nonetheless. I've been so bad at updating recently though that it seems like this (kinda?) makes up for it😂
