Bug Buddies (request)
I am so bad at being mad. There's a long story to go with that statement, but all you really need to know is that I'm an angry crier and I suck at holding grudges. And I still don't own Marvel.
This was a request by @-SpiderWitch_UwU I hope you enjoy!
Warnings: annoyed-in-an-amused-and-fond-way Peter. Also, I know you suggested a field trip, but to be honest, I'm kinda sick of writing them, so I tried something else. Hope ya don't mind!
"The Black Widow," Natasha nodded and crossed her arms intimidatingly as Scott pointed at her.
"The Wasp," Hope raised an eyebrow.
"The Bug-Lady," Mantis smiled and waved at her introduction.
"Me," Scott introduced himself, "Ant-Man,"
Peter shook his head as Scott pointed at him. "And you, Spider-Man, and together, we make up...the Bug Buddies!"
Scott paused. "I need to work on a name."
"Yeah. You do." Peter sighed and crossed his arms. "Look. I'm super grateful for the invitation, but I don't like being called a bug. I'm an arachnid."
Natasha rolled her eyes. "So am I, kid, but you do what you gotta do with Scott."
Peter sighed. "Fine, but we are working on a name."
"Of course! How about Bu-rachnid kids?" Scott piped up. He frowned. "No. Wait. That's worse."
"How about Natasha, Hope, Mantis, Scott, and Peter?!" Mantis added enthusiastically.
"Nice, but I think we could do something catchier." Scott acknowledged.
The group walked down the hallway, Scott and Mantis behind the other three who were rolling their eyes at the conversation.
"So..." Peter rubbed his arm nervously. "Where are we going?"
"Hair club." Hope spoke up. "We do it every Friday."
"Oh! Cool!" Peter smiled.
They entered the room and let Peter start with braiding Natasha's hair. They chatted and relaxed, and Peter left with his hair perfectly curled and tied with an adorable hair scarf around his head.
———
The newly dubbed "cool kids"—because it was better than everything else Scott came up with—met every Friday for two months before they found out about Peter's bully.
"Truth." Peter pulled gently on Hope's hair to tighten the little braid he was making to wrap around her messy bun. Peter had gained a reputation among the cool kids as the best hair braider they had, and he was often the one doing the hair during hair club.
"Who is the most annoying person you know?" Scott asked giddily. This would finally prove that he was not the most annoying.
"Oh, Flash. No doubt." Peter said causally.
"Who's Flash?" Natasha probed.
"My—I mean, just some kid at my school. A classmate. He's just—" Peter shrugged, "annoying. That's you done, Hope."
"Looks great!" Scott complimented.
Natasha and Hope both turned to pin Peter with their immovable gazes. He leaned away slightly.
"You were going to say something else." Hope said.
"Are you being bullied?" Natasha asked.
"Woah! I did my Truth. It's Mantis's turn now. Mantis, Truth or Dare?" Peter laughed nervously.
Natasha put a hand up. "Are you being bullied?"
Peter sighed and his shoulders dropped. "Yes, Okay. Just don't do anything. It's fine. I can handle it."
The other members of the cool kids looked at each other.
"Okay!" Hope smiled cheerily. "We trust you, Peter. We'll leave it alone."
Peter glanced at them suspiciously. "Okay...good..."
———
Natasha clapped her hands, pretending to dust them off. "And that's that."
"You don't think Peter will be mad, do you?" Mantis asked worriedly.
"That we went behind his back? Probably!" Scott cheered with a giant smile. Mantis's eyes widened.
"Don't worry. When that Flash kid stops picking on him, he'll forgive us." Hope patted Mantis's shoulder gently, sending calming thoughts to her.
"And that will be as soon as the kid gets out of the hospital."
The End.
I hope you enjoyed!
Bye!
