"I'm glad I have you in my life."

——————————————————— "You're late." I said adjusting my black mask on my nose and tilted my head up at Spider-Man. He shrugged nonchalantly and stated, "My Aunt wouldn't fall asleep."
I sighed in boredom but also a mixture of other emotions.
"You okay, shadow?" He asked resting his hand on my shoulder and I turned to look at him. I tried to play off the emotional turmoil brewing inside of me. My eyes betrayed me and slipped out warm tears. "Hey, talk to me."
I stood up and ran my gloves hands through my (y/h/c), tugging it at the ends.
"My dad left." I spit the words out and felt them sting my tongue after they left.
"Black Shadow.." He stepped forward to pull me into a hug and I let him. I rested my head on his muscular shoulder and drew circles with my finger on his chest, his breath hitched but I didn't put any thought into it. After all he couldn't have felt the same way.
"I guess.. he couldn't cope with feeding the mouths of two kids. Maybe mom wasn't enough for him. Maybe I was too much."
"Shadow, don't say that."
I pulled back in frustration and looked at his white eyes on his mask. I tried to image the color they'd be.
"It's true though, webhead." I tugged off one of my gloves and looked down at the shadows pooling around my feet. Even Spider-Mans shadow was gone. I dropped the glove off the building we met on frequently for our nightly patrol. And lifted my hand upwards and imaged the glove in my mind. The shadows lifted the glove towards me and set it back in my bare hand. "When my abilities first showed up, my parents weren't actually completely unknowing about them. I mean shadows always followed me everywhere I went, even though it isn't entirely noticeable, it's freaky. I'm freaky. My dad knew it. I remember the first time, I used my teleportation. My dad was there. He was screaming violently for a drink and I never settled well with his.. tone towards us when he's drunk. I backed up into a wall and into the shadows. I appeared outside in the backyard. My father saw and started screaming at me, telling me I was a freak."
"Shadow, I didn't know he did that."
"Well, I don't know your real name. But, I'm not gonna expect you to tell me right away." I pointed out and he nodded. "Besides, he never hit us. Just screamed and insulted whenever he had a drink. I don't mind his absence but Mom's taking it hard right now."
I sat down comfortably on the ledge and felt better with everything out.
"I'm sorry, Shadow." He said sitting beside me and draped an arm around my shoulders. "I'm here for you."
"Thank you, Bug Boy." I smiled up at him. He stood a few inches taller then me and still held the same amount of height sitting down. I leaned into his embrace and never wanted him to let go.
That night I realized how much I cared for him.

I stood in Chemistry and fumbled with my pink ballpoint pen.
"Y/n? Hello?" I looked up quickly and set the pen down with a half-hearted smile. "You're partnered with Peter Parker."
I looked over to the brown haired boy who gave me a soft smile and made his way over to the seat next to me. We never really talked to each other, partially because I thought he was attractive but I have my eyes on someone else. After a few minutes of planning and talking for the task, I felt like I already knew him.

"Can I talk to you about something?" Spider-Man asked beside me out of breath from the capture of some low-life thieves we handled moments ago.
"Of course." I rolled over on my elbow and gave him a encouraging smile. He laid next to me with his arms folded behind him giving him support.
"I like someone but I don't know if they feel the same way."
The old me would've teased the hero about the comment but it felt more like a punch in the stomach instead of the funny bone.
"Oh, why don't you tell them?" I asked swallowing the lump in my throat and focused on being a good friend. "You never know how they truly feel."
"I want to. Trust me, I do but I don't want to screw up the relationship we already have. I just can't tell what's on her mind either, she's masked(hehe) her feelings for so long and now she's finally letting me fully into her life."
"I get what you mean." I looked at the hero and mirrored his posture with my arms behind my head. "I like this guy and he's the same way. But, I say go for it. If you two are already friends, I'm sure you'll still have her in your life as a friend but who's to say she doesn't want to be more? You gotta tell her if you really wanna find out."
"You're right, thanks Shadow." He sat up and looked down at me. "I hope things work out for the guy you like, he's lucky."
"I'm sure nothing will happen anyways."

I finished up the report I wrote for Me and Peter's project. Over the last few months we had become close friends.
"Hey." I heard a familiar voice say and I set the report in the bag I brought with me on patrol.
"I was wondering when you'd show up-"
"I like you."
I stood stunned at the words and felt happiness course through my veins. He stood there frozen until I spoke the three words he wanted to hear back.
"I like you too." I stepped forward to him and rested my hands on his muscular chest.
"I'm going to show you who I truly am." He stared and took in a deep breath before pulling off his mask. "I'm-"
"Peter Parker!?" I said in shock and he raised his eyebrow in confusion.
"How did you.."
I took off my mask with a smirk.
"Y/n? It's you?" I felt the smirk drop from my face.
"What? Were you expecting someone like Liz Allen?"
"No, no.. I didn't mean it like that. I just think it's funny that the girl who I used to have a crush on at school."
"Used to?"
"Yes, used to. Because, I fell for you." He laughed at the situation and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Kiss me, Peter Parker."
"Gladly, Y/N." His lips met mine and shot sparks of electricity through my body.
