Chapter 2: Peter and the Peculiars

Just then, he heard something come from below him- a door opened, and a very odd-looking woman with a sort of dark blue hairstyle steeped out holding with appeared to be an old-timey pocket watch.

"Hmmm... now where is?" She looked around and eventually called out to someone.

"Ahhh, there you are Fiona!" She cheered.

"Sorry Miss Peregrine, how many carrots do you need for supper?"

"Just one will do" Peter watched from his perch overhead as the girl knelt on the ground and then somehow convinced a carrot to grow without so much as laying a hand on it. He then watched curiously as another little girl seemly without so much as breaking a sweat seem to uproot the massive vegetable from its dirt grave in the ground.

How was this possible? He thought to himself. After all, those children couldn't be much younger than he— maybe even younger.

Still, maybe these children could help him or at least lead him in the right direction in my mission he flew downward, landing on the soft grass below. For a moment, everyone was startled. Everyone that is except the headmistress, surprisingly.

"Miss Peregrine delighted to meet you" she said rather warming; extending a hand out for Peter to shake.

Though, instead of gripping her hand tightly in his and shaking it up and down thusly; he just seemed to silent stare at it, only then remembering some seconds later that one encounter with Wendy's daughter, Jane.

Taking her hand in his grip, the situation was still very awkward for Peter and still seemed surprisingly very alienated to him— still not wanting to be rude he did the best he could.

"Umm... how?" He asked. Breaking some of the awkward silence.

"Oh, that... I will explain everything to you Peter but first, we eat"

"Ummm...?"

"Ahhh... you see we always eat supper at five-thirty... I know it's early but the manipulation of time is quite stressful and I don't intend on changing the set schedule" she turned and walked inside.
