Green Eyes

Hi! Small A/N before I start. Am I writing too much angst? I don't wanna drive readers away so please let me know if I need to switch it up!

Peter Parker-Stark was adopted by the avengers three months ago. He had become super close with all of them, but of course Tony was his father figure. He had actually begun to call him dad and everyone was obsessed with it.

Today was their weekly bonding day. Once a week everyone who was not on a mission would spend a whole 24 hours together. It was a great way for them to bond, especially since Peter was the newest member of their team.

Unfortunately, this weeks bonding day... didn't go as expected.

{•••}

The morning started out great! Peter skipped into the living room and saw Natasha, Clint, Steve and Tony all lounging and waiting for him.

"Hey kiddo!" Tony said as Peter entered the room.
"Hey dad!" Peter said. Clint cooed and Peter rolled his eyes.

"Shut up Katniss." Peter smirked. Clint put a hand to his heart in mock offence.
"That is no way to speak to your Uncle SpiderBoy."

Peter rolled his eyes and Clint threw a pillow at him. Peter easily dodged it and stepped out of the way. Clint grumbled.

"You know you're the only person who can make me miss?" He said. Peter smiled proudly.
"I know. I take pride in it."

Clint rolled his eyes and Peter threw the pillow back at him. Peter noticed that each of them had a cup of coffee, and he realized his thirst he was too.

He walked over to the kitchen and was pouring himself a glass of juice. He was about to take a sip, when he heard crashing coming from the other room.

"You guys okay in there?" Peter called. He couldn't see the room from the kitchen but got startled when Natasha suddenly appeared behind him. Peter was startled because obviously his spider sense didn't warn him of family members.

"Oh! Hi Nat, you'd scared me." Peter chuckled. Nat didn't respond, but instead Peter heard him load her gun. He spun around and saw the gun pointed at him.

"Nat! What are you doing!?" Peter exclaimed. He just narrowly missed a bullet that she shot at him. Peter jumped onto the ceiling and ran to his room.

He slammed the door shut and threw on his costume.
"Friday what's wrong with Nat?" Peter asked.
"I'm not sure Peter." She said. Peter sighed and crept back into the living room.

He saw no sign of Natasha but saw Clint, Steve and Tony all sitting in the living room.
"Oh my god guys! Somethings wrong with Nat!" Peter exclaimed. He didn't get a response but instead was met with three sets of green eyes staring back at him.

"Oh no... not you guys too." Peter said sadly. Soon enough, Natasha came running back into the room, carrying everyone's weapons. She threw Steve his shield and Clint his bow and arrows. Tony called his suit and Peter panicked.

"Guys stop! It's me!" Peter pleaded. He got no response except for a deadly stare that made him flee. He ran through the window and swung as far away as he could. He kept swinging and swinging until he landed on a large rooftop just outside of the busiest part of town.

He wasn't even there for five minutes before a circle of deadly avengers surrounded him. Peter groaned.
"Are you actually gonna make me fight you guys." He asked.

An arrow shot at him by Clint answered his question.
"I'll take that as a yes then."
After that comment all hell broke loose. Steve threw his shield at Peter and it sent him flying into a wall on the roof. Peter groaned and nearly dodged a few bullets shot by Natasha.

Then he freed himself from that and Clint shot another arrow at him. Peter dodged it but the arrow exploded and sent him flying forward. He groaned and sat up slowly. He saw the pained faces of some of the avengers. It was like they were trying to fight off whatever was controlling them, but they couldn't.

He stood up with a grunt. He had tears and wounds in his suit. He knew he needed to stop his family, otherwise they would kill him. He gathered up the fight in himself and began webbing them up.

First he managed to tie up Clint with enough webbing to hold the Hulk. Then he got Steve and Natasha, but a bullet from Natasha's gun grazed his leg. He fell to the ground in pain.

"AGHH!" Peter screamed. Suddenly Tony was on top of him. Peter expected him to hug him and tell him he would be okay, but instead he found himself face to face with a repulser.

"D-Dad..." Peter said. He heard the repulser loud up and he braced himself. No pain came though. He looked up and saw the green fade from Tony's eyes. Just as soon as it left, it came back. He took the hesitation however, and webbed Tony up beside the others.

He panted and all the pain he felt from his wounds was suddenly very apparent. He looked at his family who was struggling against his webs to try and kill him again.

Then he heard a slow clap from behind him. His Spidey sense went haywire and he turned around. He was met with an ugly green troll like person staring and smirking at him.

"Jackle." Peter sneered. Jackle's smirk turned into a psychotic grin.
"Hello Spiderman. How was the little warm up I prepared for you?" He asked. Peter glared at him. So that was who mind controlled them.

"Why the avengers?" Peter asked. Last time he checked he wasn't sure if Jackle knew his identity.
"I know who you are, Peter Parker, I found out awhile ago, I was just waiting for the perfect time to strike." He said.

Peter sighed.
"So what's your big plan huh? Make my family try and kill me, then what?"
Jackle began laughing hysterically.
"Well now that you've trapped the only ones who can stop me, I'll give them back their minds then take over yours. They'll watch you destroy everything in my path and help me take over the world!"

Peter actually gulped. He fell for Jackle's trap. And he was too injured to fight back. Just then he heard his name.

"Kid?" Tony asked. The others were awake too. Without the green in their eyes. Peter looked at them sadly. His mask was off now that Jackle knew who he was.

"Peter what's going on?" Steve asked. Peter hung his head.
"Pete?" Natasha asked. The Jackle started laughing and the avengers became more aware of his presence.

"Well my dear friend Peter here, wasted all his energy and strength on stopping you four from killing him, so now he is too weak to fight me." He smirked. The avengers glared but then frowned when they saw how beaten up Peter was.

"We did this to you?" Clint asked. Peter nodded slowly.
"I'm okay though... for now..."
Tony looked angry.
"You made me hurt my kid." He growled. He struggled against the webs but it was no use.

"Dammit kid, why'd your webs have to be so strong." Clint said. Peter smiled sadly. He didn't notice as the Jackle came from behind and stabbed his finger into Peter's bullet wound. Peter screamed in agony and collapsed to the ground.

"Prepare to serve the Jackle Spiderman." He smirked. The avengers struggled more against the webs and while Peter lay helplessly on the ground.

Jackle pulled out some sort of spear and tapped Peter with it. Peter's gazed unfocused and his eyes shifted from puppy dog brown, to an evil and sinister green.

"Rise my servant!" Jackle shouted. Peter stood up and smirked. The avengers shuddered at how evil Peter looked.

"Kill them."

Peter nodded. He grabbed a gun from the Jackle and aimed it at Tony's head. His face was emotionless.

"Peter, son, please remember who we are. Remember who you are." Tony pleaded. For a moment he thought he saw a glimmer of kindness in Peter's eyes. But it was gone shortly after.

"I'm sorry." Peter said. The Jackle looked confused. Before he could do anything, Peter spun around and shot a web at Jackle. Jackle glared as he was wrapped up in Peter's webs.

The green fully left his eyes.
"HOW!?" Jackle yelled. Peter panted.
"You may control my mind or hurt me until I can't walk Jackle, but you will never ever get me to harm my family in any way."

Jackle growled and grabbed a gun with one of his free hands. He fired the weapon, just as Peter shot a final web to tie him up.

Numbness.

That's all Peter felt.

There was a moment of hot pain through his chest, but it quickly turned into a numb abyss of nothing. He looked to his family, still webbed to the wall as he collapsed.

"PETER!!" Tony screamed. They struggled with tears streaming down their faces trying desperately to get out of the webs. Jackle was unconscious now so he was no longer an issue.

Peter felt his world going to darkness. He was scared. Lonely. Cold. He looked up at his family with blurry vision. Tears streamed down his face.

"D-Dad?" Peter whispered.

The light left his eyes and his body went limp. Tony screamed as Natasha and Clint struggled in their webs furiously. Steve was still with shock.

Today was supposed to be a bonding day. But instead they had to plan a funeral.

2 hours.

That's how long they were trapped in webs for. Staring at the dead body of their youngest member. Their child. Dead.

When the webbing finally dissolved, Tony shot repulsers at the unconscious Jackle and killed him. They spent a long time hugging Peter's body and crying.

{•••}

A month had passed since the funeral. It still hasn't sucked in that Peter was gone. The light of their lives was burnt out.

Strangely enough, what you may have thought would divide them, brought them closer than ever. They found ways to support one another and made it their personal promise to never become distant from one another in memory of Peter.

At the funeral, Tony revealed Peter as Spiderman and his son. Everyone was shocked and their were many tributes made for him.

It took awhile before they weren't angry anymore. Peter wouldn't want them to be angry. They didn't mourn his life, they celebrated it.

Peter Parker was not only a hero as Spiderman, but as himself also. He saved the avengers relationship from crumbling to dust. In the end it took his life, but his memory would forever live on in the hearts of all of New York.
