Chapter 10: Just In Case

Everything about this moment was a nightmare. Feeling like hours pasted, Namjoon grunted and shook in shock. He tripped over himself, almost breaking the door as he rushed into the house, slammed the door behind him, and bent his back when feeling the cottage start to rumble in impact of bullets that flew all around.

Breathing in harshly, the man searched and searched. Legs trying to make it fast towards the kitchen where you would be. He didn't know why the only safety he held in his mind was yours.

Seeing you crouched in the kitchen in shock, being shielded by the island that wrapped around like a counter in the kitchen, he breathed in relief as he slid at his knees, making it to you quick. You squeaked in horror as he did.

"Is it the tornado that they warned this region about?" you piped, running with him as he tripped and tried to guide you towards the basement doors that were rusted and locked. Groaning, you noticed him grow defeated when he couldn't break through.

"No," he said with an almost growl; his body lunging at the doors in attempts to break the lock, "No tornado babe. There is a truck full of people with guns."

Your eyes widened, trying to focus on his words and not the fact that he was bruising his thin body miserably by trying to be heroic and bust the door open.

"Guns?!"

"Did I stutter?" he whined, irritated over the fact that he couldn't break through.

You watched him struggle, keeping your body low from the blows that were ringing around on the outside. Rolling your eyes as he kept trying to break through, you tugged at his arm and tried to bring him away from the doors all together.

"Hey, hey my superman," you sang out sarcastically, "Let's not have you break your own bones while doing this."

Namjoon sighed, tired as he allowed you to drag him towards the kitchen again. You both moved close to the ground, arms tightly held by each your hands. He was in distress. "How do they do it in the movies?"

"Strategy and clear muscle," you sang out, trying not to laugh in a serious moment, "Both things that you don't have."

Namjoon glared at you and you shrugged, grinning.

Your grin fell fast when a bullet thrashed through the kitchen window, piercing through the wooden cabinets. Screeching as both Namjoon and you went to duck, you were breathing hastily, trying not to shake so much. It didn't help that the man next to you was a mess.

"We're going to be okay," he whispered, voice shaking. "We're going to be safe and make it out of here. No one is going to die under my watch!"

You watched as he kept rambling and mumbling under his scared breath. Eyes softening, you moved your fingers away from clawing at his arm before moving it past his palms. You nodded, squeezing his hand reassuringly. "No one's going to die."

His brows furrowed at you so calm. "Are you kidding? Of course, we're going to die."

Another shot pierced the larger windows that came as doors for the backyard. Seeing it hit the beautiful circular table you had dinner with Namjoon at the previous night, you tried not to shake as you slid against the cabinets behind your back and lowered further to the ground.

Your brows furrowed. Looking over at the shooting and how everything was puncturing the cabin, you couldn't understand one thing.

"Why aren't they barging in when they have clear grounds to do so?"

Namjoon couldn't hear you past the loud shouts that happened from the outside. Both of you could hear the security that came with you woken and fighting with their ammunition. It sounded exhausting on the outside and you still levelled around your observation in confusion.

Namjoon was worried for something else. "Where's Aoroma? Wasn't she with you?"

Your stomach twisted in sudden realization. "Shit, shit, shit, she went out to wake the driver for some breakfast with us, she's-"

Namjoon's brows furrowed deep at that. Tripping as he pulled you back down, he looked at you like you were insane for wanting to leave the hiding spot both of you had inhabited. You tried to flinch away from his grip that tightened at your hand but nothing worked.

"I've got to go help her!"

"By putting yourself in the middle of crossfire? Are you insane?!" Namjoon shouted, his eyes ringing from how loud the bullets sounded outside. He didn't feel confident in anyone or anything in the moment.

"They're here for me. I'm the reason people might die," you shouted back, "Let me go."

Namjoon's forehead crinkled. "Y/N-"

You mumbled for him to 'shut up' before leaning in and grabbing his cheeks roughly. Kissing his lips with a quick, yet deep peck, you moved your face back out and witnessed his eyes squinted from the surprise kiss, all while his cheeks forced his lips to pucker. Laughing, you slapped lightly at his cheek before successfully breaking away. "Just in case I die," you sang out, running quick before his dazed form could capture you back to hiding again.

Namjoon swallowed, his body falling forward as he tried to grab you. Instead, he happened to simply break the handle of one of the cabinets he leaned on, falling onto his face and having his jaw feel the throbbing aftermaths of slamming straight into ground. He ate his pride as he whimpered and held his mouth.

You were successful in keeping yourself a secret. Moving out the large doors by creeping them open, your back was hunched, feet fast as the surroundings around you grew larger. Making it successfully towards the grass that was neat in the backyard, your eyes wandered towards any figure that you could claim as on 'your team'. Smiling in triumph when seeing one of the security behind the smaller cabin in the open area, you caught him holding onto the driver that was slightly falling over from shock of this sudden situation.

About to run and make your way over to them as they were distracting the gun shots that were aimed in the backyard, your breath hitched when bumping hard and straight into a body that bolted in your direction for no reason.

On the ground, taking a long breath in, you tried to run but the boot of the person seemed to slam to your stomach, forcing your body to lay onto its back on the grass and look over at him. It was a him. You could tell from the way he smirked behind the mask he wore.

He aimed his gun at you.

You blinked.

"Ms. Y/N!" the security screeched, about to shoot over at the man that hovered over you.

Your brows furrowed at the glint in the man's eyes. "Long time no see," he mumbled before twisting his gun away from you and ducking away from the shots that were aimed in his way; shots wishing to protect you.

"Sato," you said through your teeth.

"Aw, you remember," he grunted, trying to grab you who was crawling away from him and closer towards security.

You screamed when he crushed your shin with his boot, scrapping you across the grass, making you eat mouthfuls before dragging you back. Feeling his breath at your neck as he hovered over you, forcefully grabbing your arms back for him to grab and tie up, "It's time for you to come back home."

Trying to bite him as he carried you successfully, you were kicking and screaming, clawing and wanting to fight. But the man was angry, in tune, and too strong for your own good. You found yourself being dragged away from everyone. Seeing the look in the securities eyes was what made you stop for a second, blinking past your tears, you saw the shots aimed in his way.

The bullets weren't trying to kill anyone. Your forehead crinkled. It was a distraction...a warning?

Trying to wiggle and fight some more, you felt everything stumble away from your reach to freedom when seeing familiar faces behind masks grinning when seeing that you were caught. All helped Sato contain you as they moved, fast, quick, and efficient, you screamed as you were forced against your will to meet the front yard.

"Namjoon!" your shaken body yelled out, whimpering as you tried to breath past the hands that were trying to force your mouth sealed.

You didn't want to go back.

Not after everything you had done to escape.

Please don't take me back.

"NAMJOON!" You were crying.

Your watering eyes, damp cheeks, and disheartened expression met the body of the second security. Seeing him trapped hiding at the porch, you knew he tried to get to you but nothing in his solo efforts seemed to work. Next to him was Aoroma.

She. She ran however. She ran when seeing you being taken away. She was running to help you.

"AOROMA, N-NO, I-" you screamed loud as the woman jolted back. She had been shot.

Your shock fell quick. First, you were surprised. But the minute they threw you into the car and slammed the trunk's hood onto your face, you were left in the darkness thinking one thing that boggled your insanely distraught mind.

They shot her? Why spare everyone, but shoot her?
