Witness: Moses
Like a ghost it whispered
and in the corner of the room
two eyes appeared
I felt my doom
All my anguish
at all my sins
All at once
I felt within
"It wasn't me!"
I did protest
"I was paid off;
I didn't do the rest!"
Yet I had looked
the other way
to hold my tongue
and take my pay
Hides and bone
ivory and fur
Crimes by others
That's what they were
Yet now my life
seemed more to me
and so I made
a desperate plea
"Persuveus, wait;
Please abide
for one moment
before I die..."
"I will turn now
and serve you well
and help you bring them
all your hell"
His eyes did narrow
and stance relaxed
So he lingered
and held back
"I know the men
whom you seek.
I know the ones
through whom they speak."
"If I can serve you
and be your eyes,
I'll lead you to
the biggest prize."
In time this man,
who wore the night
examined me close
with an unnerving sight
then accepted
my servitude
and from the grave
my life renewed
From that day
never the same
Now it was Moses
they called my name
Like a child in a basket
on destiny's shore
I was chosen
to become much more
