Chapter 11 || Tiny Trouble
•••
"get away right now,"
"what?" jungkook frowns, earning a confused glance from hayeon which makes him cough lightly and laugh, "what happened will you tell me everything clearly?"
"who's it?"
"just a friend," he answers, "i'm driving home right now."
"don't. go literally anywhere, not that place. park jimin is there."
jungkook feels his breath hitching at the information, not believing the elder man's words at once, gulping his saliva down and forces out a laugh, "ah is that so? don't worry i'll come over." he glances at hayeon with an apologetic smile, putting his phone down, "i'm sorry, one of my co-workers needs some help."
"ah that's fine, so... are you going right now?" hayeon asks.
"yes, actually the manager of the pub called from his phone, he's completely wasted there." jungkook says slowly, stopping the car at the side of the street and steps out, "i'm really sorry, i'll make it up to you later though,"
"you better do," hayeon jokes, getting out of the car with him and walks to the driver's side, "how are you going?"
"i'll call a cab," jungkook bites his lip, staring at his phone while texting someone aggressively and hayeon sighs.
"or maybe we both can go help your friend?"
jungkook's snaps up from his phone, staring at hayeon with wide eyes and sweat forming on his forehead, even though his distress is hard to tell from the outside for he still stays as calm as ever and eyes hold negligible emotions, nor is he smiling, "no hayeon, thanks for offering help though. he's drunk and i don't want you to experience anything unpleasant because of me. plus, it's getting late, we should've been home by now. you should go, i'll manage."
"well alright, if you say so," hayeon nods slowly, smiling at him as he opens the door, moving aside so she could get in, "thanks for today, i really enjoyed."
"yeah, me too," jungkook nods, flinching subtly when his phone rings again, "i gotta go, bye, drive safe. and call me when you've reached home."
"okay?" hayeon chuckles, sitting on the driver's seat, "bye, see you tomorrow,"
jungkook nods, waving at her and answers the call, seeing her driving away in the direction of home, "yes hyung?" he breathes out in relief, "where did jimin come from?"
"i don't know, he was supposed to be here i've heard. but he came two days sooner for some reason." jungkook curses under his breath, listening to the man's voice in his phone, "and who's the girl you've been hanging out with? i told you very clearly jungkook, no love angles and no feelings, you can get killed or be in the jail for the rest of your life because of your fucking socializing skills!"
"hyung, relax. i have no interest in hanging out with that girl... she's park hyunmin's daughter."
"what's her name?"
jungkook sighs deeply, massaging his temples as he answers, "hayeon,"
"don't tell me you like this girl, kook. you can't-"
"yoongi hyung, listen to me, i don't like this girl you can relax. but you know what bugs me? she's dating kim taehyung, the one we didn't want to cross paths with."
"officer kim taehyung? the seoul one?"
"yeah, him," jungkook nods, nibbling on his lower lip, "hayeon is his girlfriend."
the man breathes out, "listen, get that girl. we finally have something against that bastard."
"yeah," jungkook hums, "this time kim taehyung will lose,"
"exactly my boy," the deep voice says, strengthening the hard stare of jungkook's eyes straight nowhere but the sky, "go home tomorrow. if you meet jimin, remember that he's one of taehyung's kind, not your brother. and you don't have to be scared, he can't arrest you just like that, you were reported dead, he'll need long ass procedures before finally arresting you, and of course he's got no proof against you."
"i'll handle him," jungkook mutters, "thanks for informing though,"
"don't be any soft for him jungkook. he didn't save your ass that day, and he will still point his gun at your head if he has to."
"i know that, nobody here is my own."
"good, remember that. i'll look into everything and let you know, just follow my orders."
"yes hyung,"

as hayeon pulls in the driveway, she's left surprised that a police car is parked there in place of her father's suv. she steps out with a frown, recognising the car to be extremely familiar until her eyes land on the man sitting by the porch of the house, "officer park?"
"ah hayeonie, took you long enough," he stands up, dusting his pants as he's in his service uniform and looks around with his eyebrows raised at an angle, "you were out alone at this time?"
"no, jungkook was with me, but he got a call from one of his friends, they needed help so he left."
"left you alone at night?" jimin frowns, staring at her as she unlocks the door and opens it wide for him to go in first. jimin however, holds the door for her, gesturing his hand for her to lead instead. hayeon smiles at him, putting the keys away and kicks off her shoes, throwing herself on the couch as jimin does the same, straightening his back after driving all the way from seoul to busan.
"i'll get you something to drink, but let me take a minute," hayeon mumbles, "i'm so tired..."
"what were you doing?"
"just a lot of walking and talking," she shrugs, finally standing up after a moment and heads to the kitchen, "water or coke or wine or soju or-"
"do you have a bar here?" jimin frowns and hayeon grins, nodding her head as she points to the side of the kitchen where a whole separate bar is standing, grabbing all of jimin's attention. his mouth waters just at the sight, and he's already on his feet, heading in the direction of heaven for him while hayeon takes her place behind the counter, "i am in love this place! since when do you have this?"
"not too long, dad renovated the house last year and... tada!"
"wow," jimin licks his lips, "am i getting something?"
"yes sir, please order,"
"don't you ruin my drink, or get aside i'll make it."
"nooo! you're the guest, you just say and i'll present it to you. trust me."
"just vodka for now,"
"are you sure?" hayeon gives him a look but that doesn't stop her from taking out the drink as jimin smirks proudly, nodding his head.
"you're the one with a low tolerance, sweetheart, not me."
"why do people keep calling me with those nicknames?" hayeon clicks her tongue, keeping her eyes on the glass as she pours different liquids and stirs it slowly, then adds a few ice cubes, "sweetheart, princess, little girl and i don't know what else,"
"who does?" jimin's tone comes more deep this time, making hayeon look up him, "tell me who dares to call you that?"
"some people," hayeon says with a challenging look, sliding his drink towards him carefully, "you tell me how are you here today?"
"answer my question first, who calls you all that?"
"you answer my question, i'll answer yours."
"that's not how you play with a police officer,"
"yes, i do," she leans on the counter.
"the commissioner told me to come today. now your turn,"
"you, tae," she giggles, "and someone,"
"who is this someone?"
"you don't need to know,"
jimin chuckles lightly in disbelief, leaning forward with his elbows resting on the counter and head tilting slightly as he stares at hayeon, "i do need to know, because when your boyfriend isn't here you're not supposed to flirt with other guys."
hayeon gasps at the allegation, glaring at jimin and smacks his arm, "i'm not flirting with anyone! how can you say that you idiot! i love taehyung!"
"then tell me the name of your someone,"
"jungkook..." she mumbles, looking down at her hands fiddling in her lap, "i wasn't cheating on tae..."
jimin sighs softly, chugging his drink down at once and closed his eyes at the relaxing taste, then he places the glass down and turns hayeon to face him, "do you know how worried taehyung was when you weren't answering his calls? he called your dad after that and came to know that you were out with some guy he didn't even know."
"i'm sorry," a tear slides down from her eye which makes jimin smile softly, wiping it off, he takes her hand in his and makes her look up at him.
"it's okay, i know you didn't mean it. just talk to him calmly and tell him the truth,"
hayeon nods slowly, stepping away and heads upstairs to her room where she finds the screen of her phone glowing as it's completely charged now and a bunch of notifications are flashing on the top. she takes a deep breath, plugging it out of the charger and checks the calls and messages.
17 missed calls from tae 💕
6 missed calls from park jimin
23 messages from tae 💕
10 messages from officer park
"see?" jimin's voice makes her flinch as she looks over her shoulder, finding jimin standing right behind her, "call him," he says and soon flops on the bed, putting his one arm under his head, staring at hayeon while she hesitates to call her boyfriend.
"he must be mad," she bites her lip, "you call him and say that i'm sorry,"
"that'll make him more mad, just call him," jimin assures, "he won't say anything stupid, hayeon. he was just worried about you. and i'm right here if he gets too angry, y'know?"
hayeon inhales deeply, nodding her head and pulls her chair closer to the bed, calling on taehyung's number with her fingers crossed and eyes shut tight into a prayer to god, "hello? ah hayeon, where were you baby? i was so worried. are you okay? and who is this guy you were out with?"
"tae..." hayeon curses under her breath for being so careless and sighs, "i'm sorry, i shouldn't have left my phone like that-"
"yeah, you shouldn't have. where were you?"
"uh actually dad couldn't go with me to movies and all, so this guy- he lives here with dad, jungkook, he said he could accompany me today. then dad agreed and eventually i agreed too, because jungkook isn't really an extrovert and i kinda wanted to be friends with him..."
taehyung sighs deeply on the line, "jesus... hayeon-ah, baby, listen i trust you with all my heart and i know you won't do anything wrong, but y'know i'm not used to being away from you and the fact that there is a third guy there makes me uncomfortable. that guy might not be all good that you see y'know?"
"don't worry tae, he's fine. dad trusts him a lot and now i'm getting to know him slowly," she says, "i'm sorry i worried you so much today, and i promise i won't do it again."
"please," taehyung says softly, "i was dying here. god! i love you, hayeon and i don't wanna lose you ever."
"i love you more," she smiles, glancing at jimin, giving him a thumbs up, making him chuckle.
"is jimin there? he said he arrived earlier,"
"yeah," she nods, holding out the phone for jimin who gets the message and brings it closer to his ear, laying straight on the bed.
"what?"
"find out who's jungkook,"
"yeah yeah," jimin sighs deeply, "doesn't seem like a gentleman though, hayeon came alone from wherever they went to."
"really? that's an asshole,"
"yeah, i'll see him tomorrow, don't worry."
"scare him with your gun," jimin laughs at that, getting up from the bed and walks out of the roomwith hayeon following behind, "what?"
"you have my phone,"
jimin puts the call on speaker as they're talking more about casual things and hayeon has started cooking for jimin, knowing he must be hungry and would love some homemade food. meanwhile jimin is busy teasing his best friend on the call that he's getting to eat some really delicious dinner while the latter is probably dying in the branch office's central mess, which is literally a mess.
"wait someone's calling," jimin mumbles, frowning at the screem and then at hayeon, "jungkook?"
"why him?" taehyung voices.
"wait, tae let me talk to this dude."
"hey! it's my phone give it to me!" hayeon snatches the phone from him and turns away before he could take it back. she answers jungkook's call, keeping the phone close to her ear, "hey, jungkook,"
"good to know that you didn't die on the way," jungkook jokes, making her scoff lightly and jimin gives her a questioning look before taking the phone and puts it on speaker. "who's there?"
jimin looks impressed at the sharp senses of the man to hear him even though he didn't necessarily say anything, "a friend of mine," hayeon replies, "he had some work here in busan so he's over for a while."
"it's a he?" jungkook mutters, "wow, and you said you don't have friends."
hayeon laughs at that, "i mean he's my boyfriend's best friend. so i count him as a friend. anyway how's your friend?"
"don't even ask, i feel like burying him right here."
"sounds bad," hayeon giggles, "when are you coming back?"
"not until morning. this douche just ruined my whole night."
"i know-" hayeon shuts her mouth, smiling nervously when jimin gives her look, and she clears her throat, "jungkook, i think i need to go. my friend's really grumpy today, i don't know what's wrong with him."
"alright, see you tomorrow,"
"bye, see you," hayeon hangs up and glances at jimin who doesn't say much and continues to grab a drink. "oh come on people talk jimin!"
"sure," he nods, "anyway, let's have a drink?"
"really?"
"mm-hmm,"
"yes, and maybe let's watch a movie?"
"i'll choose!"
