A Grand Farewell

A grand farewell from nature's ball

the blooms of summer begin to fall

autumn leaves like crispy toast

a rainbow carpet for winter's host

Poplar, chestnut, oak and maple

ingredients for a prism's staple

the exceptional collected and pressed in pages

to conserve for pleasure in other ages

A month's ash, now in it's urn

silently awaiting Winter's return

due reverence and revelry this season receives

whilst we bow our heads as autumn leaves
