(present day)
Angel scrubbed at a seemingly impossible to remove spot on the worn down counter, frustratedly putting more and more effort in until finally she let out a sigh and gave up.
She blew a stray piece of hair out of her face and turned back to the sink to wash her hands of all the cleaning product on them when she noticed the local news channel playing on the clunky old diner tv was reporting on the recent robberies once again.
As she scrubbed her hands she tuned in long enough to hear the news reporter spit out another long story.
He read from the teleprompter "With this being the third robbery this week; police are left to wonder, when will it stop? And will they need to bring in more fire power in attempt to stop these ruthless thieves? here's Officer Morris on the robberies."
She then heard 'Officer Morris' stumble out his explanation "We had a meeting last weekend about the events and we feel as professionals it's our duty to bring in more protection for our civilians; so yes. We will be bringing in stronger guns, all of our officers will be equipped with one fully loaded pump action shot gun along with one fully loaded AK-47, however if they are not threatened or put in the position to use the weapons they are required to stay in the officers vehicles at all times."
Angel shook her head, the flickering lights from the television bouncing off of her Green eyes. She couldn't believe these sinister crimes were still going on after the last addition to the security detail, she shook her head, distraught. Just as the interview ended Elizabeth walked out from the kitchen area carrying a fresh pot of coffee and set it on the warmer "Sweets don't keep that news on for to long, awful stressful nowa' days." Angel nodded "Don't worry El I'll change it soon, I just wanna see the end of this story."
Elizabeth nodded and went out to check on the last few guests before they closed for the night. The brunette smiled as she watched her Mother figure mingle with the customers as she went from table to table checking in and asking if they needed anything.
Ever since the night Angel showed up on her door step Elizabeth had welcomed her with open arms and the Redhead would forever be great full for that, El even went as far as to offer her a place to stay in the diner as long as she worked to earn her place.
As she thought about her old living situation a shiver ran down her spine, all those Sixteen years she was stuck with that awful man.
Not to mention the sketchy people constantly in and out of their life's, 'business partners' as he called them...
Angel was thankful when she was dragged out of her thoughts by the sound of sirens and panicked blabbering on the tv. She looked up to see the news was now reporting on a live chase, a Yellow car was pictured flying down a road followed closely by Cop vehicles.
The news helicopter had to go full speed just to keep up with the car while it was winding around corners and speeding down narrow roads.
Angel picked up the rag she had earlier and continued to scrub the mysterious Pink spot staining the Yellow counter top. She added more cleaning solution but the color wouldn't fade no matter what she did.
The sirens on the tv were getting louder and louder as she looked up and saw Elizabeth looking out the window with a confused look, which in turn confused Angel.
Her Green eyes glanced back up at the tv and reached for the remote to turn it down only to realize the channel was already changed and the remote was no longer there but instead in Elizabeth's hand.
Now she was really confused. If the channel had been changed to some boring talk show (that she couldn't be bothered to get the name of) then where were the sirens coming from?
Then she realized they weren't on tv.
Whipping her head back up and dropping her cleaning rag all together and booking it around the counter to where El was standing she realized that the sirens were coming from the road in front of them.
Red and Blue lights flashed as they flew by the diner at dangerously fast speeds. Both girls were left with their jaws dropped open by the time the scene was over.
San Marcos was always a relatively normal town, except for the occasional convenience store heist or drug bust, until the weeks leading up to this strange occurrence.
This left Angel to wonder, had her father and his sketchy business got anything to do with this? They moved around a lot so she figured he would've forgotten about her and be long gone by now... but with all the crime going on recently she knew it had something to do with him.

Later that night after they had closed and Angel was laying in her bed she was taunted by the idea of her father not being so far after all.
She had never even told Elizabeth about her father, only that he had been a 'bad man' and that's why she ran away, and then Elizabeth agreed to hide her out.
She draped a tan hand over her eyes in attempt to block out the thick moonlight, but she knew that wasn't the only thing keeping her from sleep.
She couldn't drag Elizabeth into this, and if there was even a chance her father was still here after all this time she had to leave, she just had to figure out how.
Angel loved Elizabeth with all her heart, they had grown close over the Two years she had been hid out in Benny's diner (named after Elizabeth's deceased father, Angel later discovered). She would even go so far to say Elizabeth was like the mother Angel never had as a child.
But if there was even a chance that she was in danger, Angel would leave and not even think twice about it. So if these robberies continued she would have no choice but to leave Elizabeth a thank you note and get out of town, it would be hard but that just seemed to be her life from the very beginning.
Content with her decision, Angel let her mind settle for a moment, just long enough for sleep to find her. She drifted off knowing deep down her disappearance was inevitable.

The next morning when she was ready she went back to the front of the diner and greeted their cook- Samuel, Sam was a kind old soul that had been working at the diner for longer than Elizabeth had been alive, Twenty years.
"Good morning Sam" she said with a polite smile as she stole a piece of bacon from the plate of it set aside which earned her a playful "Mornin' Angel- ay! Hope you plan on payin' for that missy!".
She rolled her Green eyes "Totally! Add it to my tab!" she said sarcastically as she walked out of the kitchen. Sam leaned through the window leading to the front counter area where Angel was now getting ready to start serving "If you had a tab you'd have to take out a loan by now" he scolded.
Angel shrugged before grabbing Two plates and reading the table number they belonged to and walking over to giving the older couple sitting there their meal.
Angel looked back and watched Sam cook some eggs in the kitchen area, sighing to herself. She knew that he wouldn't approve of El housing her if he really knew what was going on, but the story he along with anyone else who's concern it was knew was that Angel was Elizabeth's niece from out of state.
Going back behind the counter she finally completed the task she had been dreading all day, turning on the morning news. Unfortunately they were still reporting on last nights news, as well as a new robbery that occurred just down the street from the diner early this morning.
Angel felt dread as she went to take a customer sitting at the counter's order "Hello! What can I get for you today?" she asked the older fellow reading the paper.
He looked up at her and gave a polite smile "I'll have a coffee and some eggs please, sunny side up." Angel smiled back while writing his order down "Sure thing! I'll have that for you in a few okay?". The older fellow nodded and she pinned the order on the little close line hanging in the window leading to the kitchen area for Sam to grab.
