The Boy

Sarada blinked slowly in disbelief. She had come back from a very exhausting task with her newly formed team, involving running to ends of the village. Not thinking straight, she was walking towards one of her mother's hospital as the sun had completely submerged beyond the horizon.

However, a strange little boy who was maybe five ,she would've guessed, had appeared before her out of nowhere, hugging her leg after tackling it.

However, it wasn't the sudden collision that had surprised her. It was the appearance of the said child. To Sarada, he was the exact description of what she always wanted as a sibling. With black eyes and black hair matching hers, she feared he was not just any civilian and came from a clan.
There were many possibilities going through her mind, confusion being mixed into the brew.

She was never one to believe in things such as fate or luck, but it couldn't possibly be a coincidence. The odds are too low.
Her father was not a man for infidelity.

Maybe the god of shinobis decided to grant her a brother she always wanted.
Or, an enemy in a genjutsu trying to sneak into the village. Both were unlikely since the god of shinobi can't suddenly make children and was regarded as dead. Konoha is heavily protected with the only clan to know what was going on in her mind with jutsus were the Yamanaka's, and even without a Sharingan, she could tell there was a warm child breathing down her thigh.

However, the conclusion she had come up with slipped out of her mouth:
"What the hell did I eat the last 24 hours to have this hallucinations? I should've listened to Mama's advice about the milk," she groaned and had not realized her accidental spoken thoughts.

She definitely did not believe in any other sad excuse. Although it hurts her pride, she believed she was merely imagining this whole event. She had heard her mother speak about these kinds of things, but to happen to Sarada, she felt it made no sense.

Thinking she was self aware, she thought the boy would slowly disappear. She continued to look down in hopes her ridiculous idea would be right.

"I'm real," the boy furrowed his eyebrows as he looked up, clearly upset at her denial despite his neutral expression.

Sarada sincerely apologized but the child kept staring at her. She couldn't tell what he was thinking, keeping a blank face most of the time.

"..hm...familiar," it became obvious to Sarada he didn't like to talk much.

"Sorry, you must be mistaken me for someone else," Sarada replied, not wanting to be rude to the kid.

"Ah!" The boy pointed his short fingers at her, the only sign of realization shown in his voice. "You're a bunny girl."

"..." Sarada didn't know what to say. Oddly, she was a tad startled when the boy suddenly pointed accusingly at her.

No matter what she did, she could not fully process the last four words. "Excuse me?"

" Bunny. Girl," the boys slowly enunciated his words.

Was he calling her a playboy bunny? Obviously not, if he's that young. He can't possibly know what he had implied, can he?

"How?" The Uchiha adjusted her glasses, and finally inspected the boy.

The boy was actually adorable, being a kid and all in her eyes. His beady black eyes kept staring into her as if looking for something. His chubby cheeks and blank face somewhat was what she imagined how her father was like as a kid. His short height made her rather curious if she could carry him.

After some long thinking , the mysterious child's lips barely curved into smile.

"...delivery...," the kid carefully attempted to pronounce each syllable correctly and pointed at Sarada once more, no longer making eye contact with her.

"Oh!" Sarada recalled an episode (refer to episode 17) where she helped her mom out by delivering a stuffed bunny to a patient. "So, you saw me?"

The small boy nodded.

Sarada didn't remember seeing him. In fact, she remembered that day she had hidden herself so no one could see her delivering the bunny than those who knew. Then again, she failed to notice to presence to begin with which led to their short conversation.

Before she can ask, a feminine voice rang out and the child instinctively let go if her leg.

Leaping away from her, the child started to run off not before turning around and waving, "Bye, Bunny Onee-san!"

Before long, the mysterious boy was gone while Sarada was left confused at their short conversations.

She was surprised he can even remember her from that day almost a month ago.

Turning around, she saw Ino Yamanaka, her mother's closest friend and fellow psychiatrist.
Despite being a mother, the blonde woman was still considered a beauty with her long silky hair tied in her usual ponytail. Her usually bright turquoise eyes were dull and showed bags underneath from exhaustion. She was even panting hunched over and with her white lab coat still on her.

"Is something wrong, Aunt Ino?" Sarada asked, concerned what could get the full fledged kunoichi this exhausted. She knew Ino worked for both as a psychologist/doctor and a flower-shop keeper, but as tiring as it seemed, she had never shown this much fatigue.

"Have... you seen... a little boy around here?" Ino asked panting.

Remembering the odd boy that had just ran off, she nodded,"Why?"

"He's a patient your mother usually takes care of at the kid's hospital," Ino explained. "But since she had some surgeries to take care of, she couldn't be here today, so I took over. Which way did he go?"

Sarada pointed the way and followed Ino. It explains why he was in the area, but to have her mother and Ino personally take care of him was concerning. The hospital was for children who had traumatic experiences or mental disorders. To Sarada, the kid just seemed to have trouble expressing his emotions.

"So, why is he running away from you?" Sarada asked.

"Well, he practically hates all of the staff except for your mother," Ino sighs. "I don't understand it, but he seems to fear me the most. It's still better than him completely ignoring me like the other staff."

"How so? Isn't he technically ignoring you now by running away?" Sarada rebuked.

"Well, if you put it that way,but he at least does most of what I say," Ino grinned proudly.

"Then, why is he running now?" Sarada questions.

"Er.., he rather have me at least five feet away before listening-"

THAT IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF AS A CHILDREN PSYCHIATRIST ! YOU SCARED A PATIENT THAT MUCH?! Sarada's sweat dropped.

" and someone left the window open. It was natural he would escape now," Ino sighs.

What is he? An animal now? Sarada listened incredulously.
