Tue 21st Part 8 - The end of the first trial
I do not own Devil May Cry and Persona, only the OCs that will appear in this story and the concept were inspired by 'Lesson Time: Never follow your teacher home' in 'Vergil's one-shots' by ZerlinaQuinn. So, I hope this turns out okay... now enjoy my guild.
Shadow Cara kneel down on the floor as she start to tear up and her tears start to goes through her cheeks. She clutches with her hands on the ground as she mumbles, "It's not fair... it's not fair... IT'S NOT FAIR!!!"
"Cara..." Jerome muttered as he slowly walks up to her while her body starts to crack up.
"Go... go... away... you... bastard..." Her shadow begged him weakly, "Please... don't... don't hurt me... don't... hurt me..."
"I... I'm sorry..." Jerome apologised.
"Sorry...? Sorry for what?!" She repeated while glaring at him.
"... Sorry... for hurting you so much..." Jerome admitted as he sits down in front of her while looking at her, "I... I'm so sorry for all the pain I have caused you... all the pain I did just because I needed a punching bag... looking back... I'm becoming just like my good for nothing father..."
"Your... your father?" She asked.
"Yes... I seen your past through the puzzles," Jerome told her, "I understand how you feel. I was used as a punching bag by my father... and my mum abandoned me due to my resemblance to my father. I know that's not an excuse for all the things I did..."
"You're right... it's not!" She told him off weakly.
"However... from today onwards, I promise not to hurt you again!" Jerome told her, "Instead, I promise to protect you this time."
"... I don't believe you..." She told him in a hostile tone as she glares at him and weakly punches him, which he grabs her wrist. "Let... let... go... of me!"
"..." Jerome stays quiet and instead, let's go of her wrist as he comes in for a hug, "I'm dead serious, Cara... I'm truly sorry for what I did, and I have no excuse for what I did. I understand you wouldn't forgive me right away, so... at the very least, allow me to make it up for you."
"... You're..." Shadow Cara muttered as a bright light start to surround her, "You're truly are an idiot... but... maybe, I could forgive you... if you allow me to punch you."
"Hehe... sure... I will," Jerome chuckled, "I deserve that, after all."
"Thanks..." Shadow Cara thanked him as she softly smiles and hugs him back as she fades away.
Jerome looks into his arms as he notices Shadow Cara turns into sparkles of light. He looks up to the roof as the sparkles fades out of existence. Vergil and Bucky watches the whole thing where the rabbit smiles while the half demon walks past Jerome, but he tugs at Vergil's coat.
"Dragon... did... can she truly forgive me?" Jerome asked him softly as he tears up, "After everything I done... after I just used her as a punching bag...?"
"We have to wait and see..." Vergil replied.
Jerome let's go of him as Vergil continues on walking forward towards the orb. He takes out his katana as he glances back on Bucky, who nods. He looks at the orb again and slashes in half, completely destroying it as it causes a small black explosion.
Vergil puts away his katana as he turns around, where Bucky gives him a thumb up and rushes up to him.
Suddenly, the entire area starts to shake up and the roof is crumbling atop of them as bricks are falling above them. Bucky shouts, "Crap! We need to get out of here!"
"Than let's go!" Vergil shouted as he grabs Jerome forcefully by the arm.
"H-Hey! Ow!" Jerome shouted.
"Quit your complaining!" Vergil told him off as the trio starts running for their lives, "Just go!"
"R-Right!" Jerome replied with a determined look as they all rush out of the area.
A/N - Yep. I'm back to updating this book. Not exactly energetic about it since I have other projects I'm much more enthusiastic about, but I rather not leave this unfinished or else it's going to bug me. Anyways, I did the best I could do despite my lack of enthusiasm. Bye everyone.
