Making An Impact: Part I

Making An Impact: Part I

Ren awoke from his sleep only to find himself in the Velvet Room yet again. This was two nights in a row that he's woken up here. He had thought over what Igor and Lavenza had explained last night, though he still had a few questions. He hoped Igor would listen to them before Ren was sent over to Teyvat.

He got up from his table-pretending-to-be-a-bed, and walked over to the bars in the front of his cell. There, his eyes met with Igor's.

"Are you ready?" Igor asked.

"I still have a few questions before I go."

"Very well."

Ren thought of everything he wanted answers to so he wouldn't regret it later. He needed to know as much as possible before being shuffled off to this new world. Ren doesn't even know anything about the world's flora and fauna, and he didn't want to spend ages trying to figure out the world's biology when he had to stop Oblivion.

"What would happen if I died in Teyvat?" asked Ren.

Igor sighed, before gesturing to Lavenza, who spoke.

"If you were to die in Teyvat, we would be unable to bring you back to your world." Lavenza explained.

"So I would really die there..."

"Unfortunately, yes." Lavenza sighed, "Do you have any more questions?"

"Can I bring any of my friends?"

"Hmm." Igor pondered the limits his master could take his powers. It was already a huge feat to allow Ren to travel to another world, but two individuals could mean that one of them would be trapped once they went back to Earth, "It's too risky to have yet another Persona User crossover worlds. Making preparations for you was already a lot of effort on our parts."

"I see..." Ren looked down in disappointment. He always had someone fighting by his side. Saving an entire world alone would be one huge challenge, and he wasn't sure if he was up for it.

Igor, noticing this, tried to assure the Trickster that he can push through.

"The task ahead is daunting, and I know you are unsure of yourself going at this alone. But I assure you that you can overcome whatever comes your way. That is why we chose you." Igor said, "And while none of your friends here will be able to crossover, there's nothing saying that you are prohibited from forming bonds with those on Teyvat."

"You may feel lost in the new world, but you will most likely come across some people who will be willing to join your fight against Oblivion." Lavenza added.

Hearing the two talk about how much they believe in him, and assuring him that he could also form bonds in Teyvat put Ren somewhat at ease. He still felt uneasy about this whole ordeal however. Who wouldn't?

"Now Trickster," Igor said, taking Ren out of his thoughts, "I ask once again. Are you ready?"

Ren thought over everything once again, looking down, contemplating if he really was up for this. Yes, he had faced Shadows and even a fake god, but he was still nervous. His life was ahead of him too, with his record being cleared up a year ago by Sae Nijima.

Thinking about his record brought Ren to remember that night.

Ren was walking home from practice from school. He had to go home early tonight as his parents wanted to go to a nice place to eat that night. Ren looked forward to this. He had heard from some friends from school that the food was really good, even if it was pricey. The cost didn't matter to him however, his parents were paying for it anyway.

"Just get in the car!" a voice yelled. It sounded like an older guy. A drunk, hormone driven guy.

'Just ignore it Ren.' he thought to someself, 'It doesn't concern you.'

"Stop it!" another voice yelled. A woman this time.

'Just walk home.' Ren kept telling himself, 'Ignore it, just look away.'

"How dare you cross me?" the man said.

"Stop it! Let me go! No!"

Ren didn't know what came over him, but he ran towards the scene. When he stopped, he was met with an obviously intoxicated man trying to force a woman into a car, presumably his. The man also reeked of alcohol, even from where Ren stood, which was still more than arms length by a considerable amount.

"Don't give me that shit..."

"Ow! P-Please, stop!"

'I can't ignore this.' Ren said to himself, running over to the two.

"Tch... what a waste of time." the man said, "You think you're worth causing me trouble? Huh?"

"I-I'll... I'll call the police!"

"Heh, call them if you want! The police are my bitches. They're not gonna take you seriously."

"No! Stop!"

Ren then heard some sirens coming from down the street as he watched the woman struggle to get herself free from the man's clutches.

"Someone called the cops, huh?" the man said, "Get in the car! Incompetent fools like you just need to shut your mouths and follow where I steer this country!"

It was then that the man noticed Ren watching, turning to face him. Ren was furious. This guy was trying to force himself upon a woman. He had to be stopped.

"What're you looking at?" the man said to Ren, "Get out of my face!"

Ren just stood there. He wanted to stop him, but how? He didn't want to hurt him if he didn't have to, maybe he could reason with him.

"This ain't a show. Get lost, kid!"

Ren only got angrier seeing this guy push this woman around. His hands curled into fists, and he was having even more difficulty trying to hold back.

"See? This is all because you're so damn slow!" the drunk yelled at the woman, "Get in the car!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The anger Ren had that night, being made the villain and being given a criminal record. His first days at Shujin he would never forget. The looks he got from everyone, and the rumors he kept hearing about himself. Kamoshida was the icing to that rotten spoiled cake. That shitty PE teacher used his position to take advantage of numerous female students and abused the others. He even went so far to expel some of them just because he didn't like them. It was all those things he did and more that made him the first target of the Phantom Thieves. Ren couldn't stand by and watch as people were suffering. He had to make a difference.

"I'm ready."

Igor smiled. His Trickster was always one to put himself out there to stop injustice. It was admirable even. Ren was thrust into the world of Personas and Shadows because of the circumstances he was faced with, which only made him even more willing to stop it. Igor was proud.

"Very well. You may embark on your journey."
