*Manuel's POV*

"I slowly opened my eyes as I heard voices talking all around me. I opened my eyes to see three doctors around me wearing surgical masks."

*What is this...?*

"I was laying on a bed as I looked to my right, I could see an array of surgical instruments. Scalpels, forceps, Iris scissors and various types of syringes filled with a purple substance. Fear began to fill my entire body as I tried my best to move but no matter how hard I tried my body wasn't moving an inch. I looked down at my legs and noticed the binds I was in. I looked at my wrist to see the same bindings as the ones around my wrists. One of the Doctors laid their hand on my shoulder and reassured me."

Mysterious Doctor 1: Don't worry.... All of this is for the greater good...

*What kind of surgery is this..?!*

"I continued to look around, but it was no use. The room we were in was pitch black besides for the bed I was in with a large light fixture aimed directly down at me as I could only see the three doctors and the musical instruments near them."

Mysterious Doctor 2: It's time to start the surgery...bring out Solution "F".

"I look to see the third doctor grabbed one of the syringes filled with a purple substance. The doctor primed the needle and looked towards his colleague."

Mysterious Doctor 2: Inject the solution into the patient's heart...

Mysterious Doctor 1: Of course...

*WHAT?! NO! I DIDN'T GIVE CONSENT TO DO ANY OF THIS! WHERE'S NAKAMURA-SENSEI?!?! SOMEONE HELP!!*

Mysterious Doctor 3: What are you waiting for?

"The Doctor lowers the syringe directly to my chest where my heart is. I felt the sharp pointed edge against my chest as I looked in horror."

*Please......don't....*

"In an instant, I felt the pain of the needle piercing through my chest and into my heart. I felt as though I was falling into water as I struggled to swim up to catch my breath but each time, I tried I kept seeing flashes in my mind. Flashes of me in pain. First was a flash of me being hooked up onto a chair with padding all over my upper body. I felt a large voltage of electricity flowing throughout my body as I screamed in pain. Second was of a blood puddle being formed in the middle of the room. The blood belonging to another person who was laying there on the floor lifeless. I was staring through a window seeing this all unfold. The third and last one was of me looking into a mirror in an empty hospital room. I drew on the mirror with my own blood to write out the words 'help me'. I looked down to my left arm to see blood dripping from it as I fainted. Then I was back in the water desperately trying to swim up. Multiple flashes in my mind kept me from going to the surface. As I continued to drown, I heard a familiar voice calling out to me."

???: manuel......Manuel.........MANUEL!!!

*Back to Reality*

"I opened my eyes wide as I sat up in my hospital bed. I gasped for air while I was panting from the experience of the nightmare I just had. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped and looked to see who touched my shoulder only to see Nakamura."

Nakamura: Hey are you okay? I noticed you were tossing and turning a lot...

"I wiped the cold sweat off from my forehead and looked around."

*Right....I was in the hospital....I was admitted for having the shadow virus. It was just a dream...*

"I sighed in relief as I looked over to Nakamura."

Manuel: Thank you so much for waking me up...

Nakamura: Are you okay...? Do you need something...?

Manuel: I think.... I'll be fine...

"I look over to the clock and see the time."

*Time: 8:00pm*

Manuel: It's really late, isn't it?

Nakamura: Ehh it's getting there. Listen Manuel if you're still not feeling alright you could be here as long as you need to recover.

Manuel: I'm fine.... I just had a weird dream is all...Sensei...Am I able to go back home tonight..?

Nakamura: Yeah, I just need to examine you one more time and I'll sign the release forms. After all that is done, I can take you home.

Manuel: Good. I'm glad...

Nakamura: Although there is one thing we need to do until we leave the hospital tonight.

Manuel: Yeah, what's that...?

*In the elevator*

"I stared at the door of the elevator as we were going down. I look over at Nakamura to see him staring at his watch. A few minutes went by as I noticed he began pressing buttons on the elevator controls in the following order. Six two six eight three five. I looked up at the level we were going to, and the number changed to 'CR'. I was amazed at the thought of going to a secret level. Nakamura looks back at me."

Nakamura: Are you ready?

Manuel: For what?

Nakamura: The base of the operations. The CR division.

"The door to the elevator opens and Nakamura steps out. I followed closely behind him throughout a long hallway and eventually to the door to the Quarantine room I was in a day prior. I noticed a spiral staircase going up. Nakamura begins to go up as I stood there in silence."

Nakamura: What are you doing? Come on!

Manuel: Uhh right.

"I forwarded closely behind him and eventually we made it to the top to the observation room with a clear view through the window looking into the Quarantine room. I observed the room in awe as Nakamura smiled back."

Nakamura: So, what do you think?

Manuel: It's....awesome...

"I look around to see very complex devices and machinery with many different types of monitors around the walls of the room. I saw a shelf protected by glass. I looked through it and saw Persona Gauntlets in them. I counted at least five of them. There was also a big table in the middle of the room with the letters 'CR' engraved onto it. I looked at it as Nakamura took a seat and looked up at me."

Nakamura: You should take a seat Manuel. The others will be here soon.

Manuel: The others...?

Nakamura: Your new teammates of course.

*Few Minutes Later*

"Both Luna and Amy walked up the stairs as they entered into the Observation Room. I was seated next to Nakamura while we were waiting sipping from a cup of coffee he had poured out. I look over to them and immediately recognized Amy. Amy and Luna then looked at me with a mixed expression of both confusion and disbelief."

Manuel: Chouno-san!

Amy: What the hell?

Manuel: (Stands up from seat) I'm glad to see that you're alright after that boss battle. Thank you so much for-

"Just before I finished what I was saying Amy rushes over and slams both of her hands on the table causing me to be startled. Amy begins to yell at Nakamura."

Amy: What are you doing bringing civilians here to CR?!

Nakamura: What are you talking about? He's a Persona user now.

Amy: That doesn't matter he's still a past patient!

Nakamura: Hey don't forget who's in charge here!

Amy: Really?! You're in charge? I had no idea since you've been breaking protocol!

"Both Nakamura and Amy began to hash it out. I took a few steps away not wanting to get into the crossfire."

Manuel: I wanted to say "Thank you" but I guess that was too much.

"As I watched them continue to go at it, I felt a slight tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw Luna standing right behind me. She had a brighter attitude towards her and was not as serious as Amy. She smiled at me as she began to talk with me."

Luna: You seem to be fully recovered!

Manuel: Yeah, I am actually. Thank you so much for helping with my illness. If I'm not mistaken, you're Luna Yumizuki, right?

Luna: Right and you're Manuel Estrada.

Manuel: It's nice to meet you. I look forward to working with you two.

Luna: Huh? What do you mean by that?

Manuel: I talked with Nakamura-sensei about it and I decided that I want to be a part of CR as a Persona User in order to save patients.

"A moment of silence passed as Luna and Amy screamed."

Both: WHAT?!?!?!

"Amy looked back at Nakamura and yells once again at him but this time in a concern tone."

Amy: What are you thinking?!

Nakamura: What?! You two saw what he could do so I thought why not?

Luna: But we still don't know about his Persona and how he unlocked it. (Looks at Manuel) And you. Do you even know what you're gonna put yourself into?!

Amy: You saw what you were up against in your own Game World. If you do this, then you should expect more Shadows like that later on.

Manuel: Well I...

Amy: If you can't handle it then you're better off getting out of the way. We don't need Civilians in the way of things.

Luna: Hey Amy that's...

Manuel: You say that to me but if memory serves you almost died from that Shadow yesterday.

Amy: What was that?!

Manuel: I'm just saying that maybe if you handled the situation more like a game then maybe you could've handled it.

Amy: That fight wasn't a game! It's surgery!

Manuel: I was only able to beat that thing because I played it as if it was a game. (Sighs) Look I'm not trying to be rude here but it's clear to me that you don't take advantage of your Powers and Abilities in that other world when it could give you such an edge.

Luna:....he's not wrong.... we usually relied on Kaito for things like that...

Amy: Luna!

Manuel: Who's Kaito?

"Amy looks back at me with nothing but rage in her eyes."

Amy: That doesn't matter cause you're not going to be one of us so you should get lost!!!

"Amy shoved me to the floor."

Luna: AMY!!

Nakamura: WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?!

"Amy looks over at Luna then to Nakamura then finally back at me. I was in shock that she shoved me down with such anger towards me. I sniffled as she began to look down at me apologetically."

*We haven't even talked to each other for more than a few minutes but I already felt like she hated my very existence. Then again, this feeling wasn't new to me.*

Amy: Estrada-san....I'm....

"Without a second to lose I stood up and ran towards the stairs and descended them to go down to the hallway."

Luna: Estrada-san! Wait!

"Nakamura walks forward and looks back at the two of girls with a stern expression."

Nakamura: I know that there's a lot of controversy about this. But this is what Manuel wants. Alright? (To Amy) I don't know what issues you have about him joining but I suggest you get over it. Maybe you could learn something from him. Starting from tonight he's a Persona Surgeon now!

Amy: But I-!

Nakamura: End of discussion! Besides...I think you already said and done enough for tonight...

-End Track-

"Nakamura begins to descend the stairs as I waited at the bottom leaning against the wall next by the stairs. Nakamura looks at me concerned."

Nakamura: Manuel....what she did I'm so sor-

Manuel: You know apologies only matter when it comes from the actual person who's giving it...

Nakamura: I know but...

Manuel: (Sighs) it's fine I'm....used to this sort of treatment back home...can we go home now...?

Nakamura: Yeah...let's get going kiddo...

"Me and Nakamura walked towards the elevator to exit the building this division and go up to the ground floor to exit the hospital."

*On the way home*

"We were in Nakamura's car driving home. While he was driving, I was sitting in the backseat looking out the window thinking back at the entire situation back in CR. I couldn't help but be saddened by the fact that I wasn't accepted in CR even though I have been told by Nakamura that I am a Persona Surgeon now. He looks over at me and then back at the road."

Nakamura: How are doing kiddo?

Manuel: Fine....I guess....

Nakamura: Look what happened back there...

Manuel: It's fine...I just want to move past it....

Nakamura:.......

Manuel: Although....who is this "Kaito" person they were talking about...?

Nakamura: (Sighs) Kaito was this Persona User I was telling you about.

Manuel: The one that was attacked?

Nakamura: Yeah...he went missing during the attack the last thing that was left of him was his Persona Gauntlet that Amy wears now.

Manuel: Does...she think I'm trying to replace him?

Nakamura: (Sighs) I don't know, to be honest with you she wasn't always this serious before Kaito disappeared. Those two...had a rather unique relationship. I'm pretty you can understand what I'm getting at.

Manuel: I see...Just who attacked him?

Nakamura: We don't know...all we know is that one night he attempted to contact us through his Gauntlet. He was saying all these weird things like "Leave Seito City and forget about the Virus and CR." then the communication went dead.... After that......

*One Year Ago*

(Kaito Yamada)

"It was a rainy night in the middle of an alleyway. Kaito is seen in a Swift Star Academy Uniform. He leans against the wall while completely drenched. He was covered with cuts and blood stains over his clothes. He slid down the wall in exhaustion as he pressed a couple of commands on the Gauntlet sending a message to CR and the other Persona Surgeons."

Kaito: (via Gauntlet) I don't know.....that this....If you can hear me please you must.....Forget the virus.....Leave Seito City......its him......I know the truth now! Please if someone can hear-

"This message could be heard by his allies back in CR. Just then before he finished his sentence a stray Darkness spell launched towards Kaito but just in the nick of time he rolled out of the way. The wall he was against was completely obliterated. He looks at the wall then faces a Hooded Person armed with a Persona Gauntlet attached to their right arm."

???: (Distorted Voice) No one shall interrupt the game not until you get the ending you deserve...

"The hooded figure summons a sword from their Gauntlet and drags it along the asphalt causing a metal scraping sound to fill the alleyway. Kaito's screaming can be heard as the rain continues to fall. A concerned Amy was seen running through the empty streets of Seito City completely drenched from the run. She kept calling out for Kaito."

Amy: KAITO! WHERE ARE YOU?! PLEASE ANSWER ME!!!!

"Amy runs past an entrance to an alleyway. She goes back catching a glimpse of a shadow. She readies her Gauntlet and Persona Gashat as she runs into the alleyway. She makes it to the end and sees the aftermath. There was a puddle, a mixture of blood and rainwater, a nearby wall was destroyed and there were very deep and distinct cuts against the nearby walls on the buildings and ground. Kaito was gone and the hooded figure could be seen with their place turned to Amy. Amy begins to react from her raw emotions she steps forward thinking about take them on."

Amy: WHO ARE YOU?! WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?!

"The hooded figure turned to Amy, and they dropped a Persona Gauntlet to the ground with a shattered screen by Amy's feet. Amy looks down in horror as she dropped to her knees and holds the Gauntlet. Unable to accept the worst possible scenario she began to demand the hooded figure where was Kaito."

Amy: WHERE IS HE?! HE ISN'T GONE!! I WON'T ACCEPT IT! WHERE IS HE?!?!..........please........he can't be dead.......

"Amy begins to cry as the hooded figure turned their back to her. Their distorted voice could be heard as they looked up."

???: (Distorted Voice) Believe....what you want......

"The Hooded figure summons their Persona that glowed in a dark red aura then proceeds to jump in the air and disappears into the night leaving Amy there in pain and sorrow. Just across at the street Nakamura who was driving his car parked just outside the entrance of the alleyway. Both he and Luna exited the car and ran towards the end of the alleyway meeting with her."

Nakamura: Chouno-san! Are you okay?!

Luna: Where's Kaito......?

"Amy shakes her head she kept crying while holding Kaito's damaged gauntlet close to her chest. The rain begins to wash away the blood that was left there from the battle. Amy kept crying as Luna kneeled down and held her tightly as Nakamura could only blame himself for this."

*Back to Present Time*

Nakamura: I can't believe that he is dead. There was nobody by the time we got there but sometimes I don't know what to think...Should I just accept the fact that I failed to keep the kids safe and lost one? or should I just keep telling myself that somehow or someway that he's still alive...If he's not then it would just be another child I failed to keep safe....

"I look at Nakamura to see tears beginning to well up in his eyes. He quickly wipes it away as he continues to focus on the road."

*Could it be that Nakamura-san had children......? Come to think about it...I remember him saying that he was rather lonely during the past year when we first arrived, could it be that something happened? Maybe I should ask him...*

Manuel: You're very caring Sensei. I'm honestly used to being looked down upon by adults back home. It's almost as if you have some experience with parenting...

Nakamura: (Smirks) Is it that obvious? Well yeah....I actually had a son before....but he.....

"I listened intently as I look at Nakamura but looked forward to see his house just up ahead."

*It's probably best that I don't go any further.*

Manuel: Hey! We're home!

Nakamura: Huh....We are....

"Nakamura opens the gate with his remote control and parks it in the driveway. I was about to exit out of the car to the front door until he stopped me."

Nakamura: Hey Manuel?

Manuel: Yeah...?

Nakamura: Look from this day onward you're gonna be a part of CR. Don't forget what I have told you. The moment that there's a fight that you can't win-

Manuel: Get the hell out of there. I got it.

Nakamura: That and please always watch over your surrounds. I don't know who that Hooded person was or why they attacked Kaito but I have a feeling that one day we might encounter them again and if that ever happens please....don't bother fighting. Run away...You run, and you don't look back...

"Nakamura looks at me with the upmost serious expression upon his face. I merely nodded at this as he sighed in a bit of relief."

Nakamura: Well, that's enough for one night let's get you inside.

Manuel: Right!

"We both exited the car and walked up to the front step. Nakamura gets out his key, unlocks the door and opens it up. The first thing we saw was Bella sleeping right in front of the door. She was still in her own school uniform and had a card in her hand. Both me and Nakamura looked at each other with concern as we looked back at Bella."

Nakamura: Did she wait for us after she got home?

"I kneeled down as I grabbed the card out from her hand it was titled 'Stupid Big Brother'. I scoffed at this as I opened it up. I began to read it out loud."

Manuel: (Reads Note) "You're a big stupid brother Manuel. How could you get sick and not tell anyone? You had everyone worried sick, even me...I'm sorry I couldn't visit you but I will be here waiting until you get back so that way I'll show you what happens when you don't take care of yourself. Get well soon. -Isabella P.S. I made you dinner when I found out that you were getting discharged. You too Mr. Nakamura. You better thank me later."

Anthony & Angel: Awwww...

"I looked up to see both Anthony and Angel in their Pajamas looking at us from the top of the staircase. I put down the note and looked at them."

Manuel: Shouldn't you guys be asleep by now?

Angel: And missed this? No way!

Anthony: It looks like the tin woman does have a heart for her "Big Brother".

Manuel: (Blushes) Oh shut up!

"Nakamura laughs at this and looks back at Anthony and Angel."

Nakamura: Alright shows over. Off to bed you two!

Angel: Kay!

Anthony: Oh yeah, we finished the list of chores that you left for us Nakamura-san.

Nakamura: Thanks. Good work you two! Now if only you guys were that fast with getting some work.

Angel: Don't worry, we got it handled! Goodnight!

Manuel: Night guys!

"We heard doors closed upstairs as we then looked back at Bella who was sleeping soundly on the floor."

Nakamura: Go wash up and get ready for bed. I'll get her.

Manuel: No, it's okay really...I'll take her to her room.

Nakamura: Are you sure?

Manuel: Yeah of course...she might be a pain but she's still my sister. I'm responsible for her...

"I folded the note up and pocketed it. I kneeled down and picked up Bella effortlessly. I smiled as I stood up and looked at Bella as I carried her in my arms."

Manuel: (Laughs) You know I used to do this for her all the time back then when we were younger. I missed those days....

"I walked up the stairs as I carefully carried her to her room. I opened her room door walked in, pulled back the covers on her bed, laid her down and covered her up with the blankets."

Manuel: Thanks for the get-well card sis. Sorry for worrying you. Thank you so much. Goodnight little Bella...

"I smiled as I ruffled her hair a bit and exited out the room and closed the door behind me letting her sleep. Nakamura looks at me as he walks up to the second story. He was smiling."

Nakamura: Even with how rough around the edges she is. You still care for her as any other big brother would.

Manuel: Yeah... if only I was this close with her now as I was back then....

"I frowned at this as I walked back to room. I opened the door and looked back at Nakamura."

Manuel: Thanks for everything. I'll make you proud. Goodnight.

"I walked in the door as I let myself in the room as I closed the door right behind me. Nakamura frowns."

Nakamura: "I'll make you proud"...right that's what you said before too.... Didn't you Kaito.......?

*The Next Morning - Wednesday*

*Third-Person POV*

"Birds were chirping outside as Isabella slowly opened her eyes. She rubbed her eyes as she climbs out of bed. She walks out of her room, down the stairs and to the living room. Nakamura was seen reading a newspaper as he notices Isabella slowly makes her way down the stairs."

Nakamura: Morning Isabella!

Isabella: Morning... (Looks around) Is big brother back from the Hospital...?

Nakamura: Yeah, he is but he left early with Angel and Anthony to school. He wants to get an early start for today since he missed a day.

Isabella: Sounds like him...

Nakamura: Oh yeah, he made you breakfast before he left for school this morning.

"Nakamura pointed to a plate which was wrapped in plastic wrapping. Isabella noticed that it was her favorite, Tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled Omelet). She noticed a note underneath the plate. She took it out and looked at it."

Isabella: (Reads Note) "Sorry for making you worry. I think this would make us even. By the way thanks for dinner last night. It was very delicious. - Stupid Big Brother".

Nakamura: Looks like he cares for you as much as you care for him.

Isabella: If you say so....

"Isabella looks at the note and thinks to herself as she smiles at the note."

Isabella: (To herself) You're such a idiot...

*Manuel's POV*

"I opened the door to my Homeroom and as I did the classroom that could be heard from outside the door then stood silent as I entered the classroom. I closed the door behind me as I made my way to my seat. While I was walking, I could hear mumbling and whispers as I passed by. I sat down and looked out the window as I heard the various chattering happening around me."

Snarky Female Student: Oh my god. He actually showed up...

Gossiping Female Student: I heard he was sent to the hospital after his friends took him to the infirmary.

Snarky Female Student: Eww really...? He better keep his distance from me then! I don't want whatever he has.

Rude Male Student: How much do you want to bet that he was faking all of it?

Loud Male Student: I don't know he would have to be a really good actor to fake that performance at the courtyard on Monday....

*Looks like the rumors are still spreading....oh well at least they're about me and not about Angel or Anthony......I'll gladly take this trade any day.*

"Just then I heard my notification sound go off on my phone. I checked my messages, and I got a text from Emi. I smiled as I opened it and began reading it in silence."

Emi's Text Message: "I'm glad to hear that you were able to show up to school today! I was a bit worried thinking that you might need another day of rest. I keep hearing rumors being spread about you but please don't let it get you down alright? I wish you all the luck to get through today!"

"I smiled to myself as I message her back."

Manuel's Text Message: "Thank you so much. Honestly, I was feeling really anxious coming in today. Thanks for the message, it really lifted my spirits. Have a good day, okay?"

"I put away my phone and opened my school bags on my desk. I pulled out my Nintendo Switch and began to play a 2D side scroller called Mighty Action X. I kept to myself as the teacher came in. I played my game all throughout Homeroom."

*Video games always relax my anxiety. I always brought my gaming stuff to school back in Kochi and played for hours whenever I got burnt out by homework, group projects or anything involving school. Even now I feel completely in traced by the world of the game that I play. I often look at games as an escape from some of the harsh things in reality. To some it might be a waste of time but how could it be if I'm genuinely happy even if it is temporary. *

"I cleared the level on my game. I smiled and looked up and around the class. I looked to see all of them focusing on the morning announcements that the Teacher was giving. I looked over to the front of the class and saw Amy listening intently. I looked back at my game and continued playing."

*I wonder why she hates me. To her I probably seem like I didn't take things seriously when I was in that game world but there...no not just there but games too. It's like I have a burst of confidence whenever I play. If I let myself take things seriously and worry about the dangers of that world. I would've died...but allowing that other side of me to take over. The one who plays the game. The one who shows no fear. The one who hates losing. I was able to live and win that game. Sometimes I just feel like no one really understands that side of me...but if I really want someone to understand I guess I would want it to be...*

"Thoughts of Emi began to fill my mind as my face became flushed. I stared out the window as my mind began to wander."

*I wonder...if she would laugh at me if I said that I wanted to get to know her better...*

"Just as this thought crossed my mind, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I immediately got startled as I accidentally pressed a button which caused me to fall off the ledge in the game, I was in. I saw the Game Over screen appear on my switch. I yelled out in panic."

Manuel: No! My high score......! (Downcasts)

"I put my switch down and looked back up to see Amy who was standing over me. I immediately shot back up looking at her."

Manuel: Oh Chouno-san! Sorry I didn't see you there.

Amy: I'm sorry did I made you lose...?

*Geez what do you think? Way to kill me in-game. She must really hate me. *

Manuel: (Nervously laughs) N-no it's fine...I could always get back to that point in my game.

"I looked around to see several people looking at me from my outburst. Most of them were laughing and very few were genuinely concerned. I looked at the clock and saw that homeroom was already over and I needed to get to my next class in ten minutes. I immediately felt embarrassed as I began to pack my switch into my bag all while Amy attempts to talk with me."

Amy: So, umm....Estrada-san about what happened yesterday....I just wanted to say that umm...

*Would you just say whatever you want to say already?! I just want you to leave me alone. We already established that you hate my guts. *

"I zipped up all of my belongings into my bag as I grabbed it and stood from my seat. I looked Amy straight into the eyes."

Manuel: It's fine...just forget about okay...?

Amy: But...I-

Manuel: I really should get going alright? I'll see you around.

"I left the classroom leaving behind Amy in the classroom. I began to walk out into the hallway going to my next class as I was, I noticed Anri a bit further down the hall seemingly being harassed by two other female students."

Snarky Female Student: My god you're such a weirdo Shinozuka!

Anri: Just leave me alone...please...

"I began to rush over until I saw Makoto run past me. He got in the middle of Anri and the other two students."

Makoto: Hey! Get away from her!

Gossipy Female Student: Oh, its Shinjo...

Snarky Female Student: (Laughs) Now this is hilarious! Look at the two infamous rejects decided to become an item. How pathetic is that?

"I sneaked closer to the situation at hand as I ducked by the corner next to the stairwell. I took out my phone and began to record the two girls who were bad mouthing but Makoto and Anri."

Snarky Female Student: Bet she would like that a lot but we're both not moving... (Smiles)

Gossipy Female Student: Should you even be getting yourself into this Shinjo? It could look really bad for you. (Steps closer to Makoto) One scream of me saying "Pervert" or "Assault" and you'll be done. After all this wouldn't be the first time that you've been said to assault a female student. No one will believe you even if it is just a lie.

"Makoto's face becomes pale as he looks away almost as if he was disgusted by this last sentence. Anri sees this and shouts out to the two students."

Anri: He didn't do anything!! All that happened before was a misunderstanding!

Snarky Female Student: Oh, look who finally decided to join in this little conversation of ours. You know little bitches like you Shinozuka should know to stay quiet!

"The female student rushed Makoto and pushed him aside to the floor. The bully then raised her right hand in the air preparing to strike at Anri. Anri could only gasped as I see prepares herself for the hit. I rushed in and grabbed the wrist of Anri's bully with my left hand as I held my phone with my right."

Gossipy Female Student: Huh?!

Snarky Female Student: What the hell?!?!

Manuel: (Smirks) Say "Cheese".

"I took a picture of the two with my phone's flash on. I looked at the photo as I inspected it."

Manuel: I say I got a pretty good shot if I do say so myself. (Shows bullies picture) What do you two think?

Snarky Female Student: Bastard! Give me that phone!

"I dove out of the way from the bully trying to take my phone from me. I pointed my phone at them once again and hit record."

Manuel: Sorry but I don't deal too well with bullying. Hope you two can understand.

Gossipy Female Student: What's with this guy? Whatever....you took a picture of us without our consent. That's considered harassment. Just wait until we tell a teacher about you!

Snarky Female Student: Yeah! Guess what buddy. You fucked with us and now you're gonna get it! It's our word against yours.

Anri: Estrada-san...

Makoto: No....this can't happen again...

Manuel: Hmm very interesting...I got to ask though. What do you two think that the teacher would say after they hear this?

"Both of Anri's bullies grew quiet and fear began to fill their bodies as they took a few steps back. I smiled at them as I pocketed my phone."

Manuel: So, here's the deal alright. You try to tell a teacher a made-up story about me or Shinozuka-san or Shinjo-san and I'll expose you two jerks with the video I took of you guys. I'm sure they'll be glad to know about you two giving them a hard time, threatening them, and even trying to physically harm one of them. I'm gonna keep this video on me for the....foreseeable future and you two are not allowed to mention anything about this to anyone alright? Not of me or these two...do we have an understanding of each other here?

Snarky Female Student: (Scoffs) Fine...lets go...

"The two girls glared at me while walking further down the hall to their next class. As they left our sight I turned around and extended my hand to Makoto."

Manuel: Are you okay Shinjo-san?

Makoto: I could stand up on my own.

"Makoto wipes his clothes off when standing back up. He looks at Anri with a concerned expression."

Makoto: Are you okay...?

"Anri merely nods as Makoto then turns to me and begins to scold me."

Makoto: What the hell were you thinking?!

Manuel: Huh?

Makoto: You realize that you could've caused trouble for yourself, right?!

Manuel: I just-

Makoto: No! You don't need to get involved with us like this! Idle chatter we can do but anything else....and you'll just end up like me....

Anri: Nya-....Shinjo-san.....

Manuel: (Smiles) What? I thought we were the three outcasts here?

Makoto: Huh?

Manuel: I told you both before that I don't care about any sort of rumors about you two. I mean look at you Shinjo-san. You jumped in before I could save Shinozuka-san for those bullies.

Makoto: Well, that's-

Manuel: Given by the formal names you two do for each other. Neither of you must not know one another that much, right? But even so you care enough to jump in when the other is being bothered by awful people like that.

"Both of Anri and Makoto faces became a bit flushed. I smiled to myself as I continued to speak."

Manuel: Look I said it before I don't care about what rumors are going on about you two. You're not harming anyone or talking badly about people. You guys keep to yourselves so when I do see people like that giving you guys a hard time then I feel the need to jump in to try to help. After all, us "Outcasts" gotta stick together.

Makoto: .......This doesn't make us friends......

Manuel: (Laughs) I get it...it's kind of hard to believe in people...I know a little act like this wouldn't automatically make us friends. However just so you guys are aware you're not scaring me off that easily. One day if you two ever feel ready I'll introduce you two to my friends but for now I'm happy with our "Idle" chatter. Don't ever worry about me ignoring you two or anything. If I must be an outcast to talk to you guys, then I will be. It's not really any different than how people have been treating me these last few days.

"Makoto expression said it all. He was stunned. Anri was the same. Both of them just stared at me. I bowed my head to them both, I turned around and began to make my way to my class going down the stairs."

Anri: Hey wait!

"I looked back without turning around the entire way. I saw Anri at the top of the staircase."

Anri: Thank you! For helping me and Nyanta! (Covers her Mouth)

"Anri runs off with Makoto to their next class. Makoto gave me a nod and waved goodbye to me as he walked off to catch up with Anri."

Manuel: Huh "Nyanta"? Does she mean Shinjo-san...?

"Suddenly I heard the school bell go off. I began to panic."

Manuel: Shit! I'm gonna be late!

"I rush over to my next class. Some time passes by as I go back into the motions of things while playing my game in between breaks from classes. Eventually Lunchtime came."

*Lunchtime*

"I looked around the cafeteria looking for a table to sit at. After looking around I see an empty table unoccupied by anyone. I smiled as I rushed over to claim it. I set my stuff down and pulled out my switch again. I looked through the catalog and wondered to myself."

*I've been playing Mighty Action X all day today and I can't seem to get back to the level where I died earlier this morning. Let's see what else I have on here. *

"I scrolled through the library of my downloaded games and saw one that I have never played before."

*'Godspeed'? Oh yeah that one racing game that was released a little before my move here. I preordered the game with Anthony. Maybe I should text him so we can play together. If memory serves this does have a split screen function. *

"I pulled out my phone and texted Anthony and Angel to see where they were. As I texted them, I heard a notification alert from behind me. I raised my head up and saw Anthony and Angel behind making their way to me."

Angel: Hey! Ya texted?!

"Both Angel and Anthony came to the table I was seated at and took their own seats at the table as I smiled at the company."

Manuel: How'd you guys find me?

Angel: When you were admitted to the hospital you missed a full day of school, so we took the opportunity to explore the school that day. So, we got a better grasp on the layout of the school by now. Isn't that right Anthony?

"We both looked back at Anthony who was staring deeply into his phone not even looking up to join the conversation at hand. I started to become a bit concerned as I tapped him on the shoulder."

Manuel: Hey dude you good?

"Anthony barely looks up from his phone and then shuts it off as he looks up at the two of us."

Anthony: Yeah, I'm good. Sorry, what are we talking about?

*It's not like Anthony to zone us out like that. *

"Me and Angel looked at each other concerned. We look back at Anthony."

Manuel: You know if something is up you should talk with us.

Angel: Yeah, we're here if you need it buddy.

"Anthony merely shakes his head in response then look at my Nintendo Switch. He begins to get excited."

Anthony: Whoa!!! Godspeed! I totally forgot about this game!

Manuel: Yeah, I saw it and I remembered that you really wanted to play it when it came out.

Anthony: Damn...I didn't bring my switch though...

Manuel: Its cool. It has split screen so we can race against each other.

Anthony: Awesome!

"I set up my switch as I loaded up the game. As I did, I detached a joy-con and handed it to Anthony."

*Godspeed is a racing game where you can race against your friends either online or locally. It's a bit different than most racing games. If you crash your vehicle, then the race ends. Throughout the game you gain parts for you to make your own custom vehicle no two vehicles are ever the same model or make but if you crash it during a race then you'll never get those parts back. *

"We passed the title screen as we started up a game. Me and Anthony picked a premade model of vehicles. I picked a race car as Anthony picked a motorcycle. I got confused by this choice. I looked up at Anthony."

Manuel: A motorcycle? Are you sure that's wise?

Anthony: Yeah, why not? I love motorcycles.

Angel: What's wrong with a Motorcycle they're pretty fast, aren't they?

Manuel: Yes, but in this game control over your vehicle means everything. The motorcycles in this game are one of the fastest and have the most mobility out of the vehicle options but overall, the hardest to drift with.

Anthony: Hey it'll be fine.

Angel: What are you worried about, that you're gonna lose your crown with being one of the best gamers out of all of us Manuel?

"Angel openly mocks me while Anthony laughs at his comment. I looked back to the screen with a feeling of excitement and determination."

Manuel: Just start the race...I'll show you how it's done. (Smiles)

Angel: (Smiles) Guess somethings never change. You and that competitive side of yours.

"Me and Anthony selected a track for us to begin the race and as soon as we did, we were taken to a starting line where me and Anthony. The countdown begins from three and when the countdown went down to zero, Me and Anthony took off. We began with simple obstacles while Angel was watching from behind us cheering."

Angel: Go go go!!!

"We eventually came across a cliffside and we both drove off of it. During our free fall in the game, I looked ahead on my side of the screen to see the rest of the track. I began to speed up so that my car would land safely on the track. I was winning, still ahead of Anthony while I continued driving the track. I saw a speed boost space ahead of me but Anthony then landed in front of me cutting me off and went further on ahead of me."

Anthony: Too slow Manuel!

Manuel: We'll see about that...

"Soon afterwards me and Anthony went pass the line for the first lap out of three. The track then started to shift as we saw a giant arrow appear in our screens telling us to go further towards the right. I turned right with no issues, but Anthony had trouble turning at the speed he was going. He pressed the button for the brakes for his motorcycle as he barely came a few inches into crashing into the wall. I took first place as he begins to go in reverse trying to recover as I went on head of him."

Manuel: Looks like that lead of yours didn't last for too long now, didn't it?

Anthony: Damn it get back here!

"Anthony began to accelerate chasing close behind me as I continued down the track. We eventually got a ramp leading to two different sides of the track. I jumped the ramp keeping myself to the main part of the course meanwhile Anthony had some trouble trying to keep himself steady. He jumped the ramp and went to the narrower side of the track and as soon as he landed he was met with several pillars coming up from the track. I laughed as I saw this."

Manuel: Let's see you dodge all of that!

Anthony: You will! Just watch me!

"Anthony began to dodge the incoming obstacles as he increased his speed eventually, I came across a right turn in the track as I used a drift function to move smoothly on the track. I sped up as I eventually made it the merging of the two sides of the tracks as I was about to pass the exit to the side of the track that Anthony was on. He jumped out of the track and accelerated passed me retaking first place. Anthony smiled as he retook his previous placing in the race."

Anthony: Hi buddy! Did you miss me?

Manuel: Damn it!

"I became more focused as I continued to tail Anthony as we passed the second line of the three laps for this track. The camera in the game zoomed out to reveal a volcano erupting in front of us. Debris of molten lava landing in front of the course as more and more speed boost spaces ahead of us."

Angel: Oh shit!!!

"We both began to avoid the chunks of molten lava ahead of us while we continuously kept on gaining more and more speed. My car began to take more and more damage as I kept speeding through the molten lava while Anthony was having a much easier time avoiding the lava. I looked at the mini map that was in the middle of our screens as me and Anthony were neck to neck with each other as we were coming close to the finish line."

Anthony: This race-!!

Manuel: -is mine!!!

"We began to speed up more and more as we came closer to the finish line and while we were the lava stopped falling and just then I noticed that there were spikes on the remaining of the track as we came close to the finish line. Anthony noticed this and moved out of the way, but I was too late my car went over them and I began to swerve as my car then spun out of control while still maintaining speed. It then hit Anthony as we both began spinning while making a beeline towards the finish line. As we both crossed the finish line me and Anthony crashed both of our vehicles at the same time. We all stared at the screen wondering who had won as we were taken to the loading screen. As it clear, we saw the results as Anthony was in First place and me in Second as the replay shows Anthony's motorcycle front wheel touching the line first before my car did."

Manuel: Damn it!

Anthony: Hell, yeah dude!

Angel: Oh my god! I can't believe that happened at the end there. I honestly thought Manuel had that.

"I sighed as I put my joy-con down on the table as I began to sulk in response to my defeat."

Manuel: Awww I lost....If only I didn't hit those damn spikes!

Anthony: (Laughs) I guess I'm better at racing games than you...Don't you think "Manny"?

Manuel: Not my old childhood name.... anything but that....

Anthony: Sorry but losers don't have a say in that. Me and Angel get to call you that again since I won against you.

Manuel: I didn't agree with this though....

Angel: Remember Manny losers don't have a choice in the matter.

Manuel: Hmm...I'll win the next time we race....

Anthony: (Smirks) I look forward to it.

Angel: Now move over Manny! I get to race the winner now!

Manuel: Yeah yeah....

"I got out of my seat to let Angel move in closer to the switch screen. I smiled to myself as I watched both Angel and Anthony begin a new race. Both of them were smiling while picking out their cars and I couldn't help smiling to myself."

*I lost...but at least Anthony got over whatever was bothering him.*

Curious Male Student: That was a close race...

Amazed Male Student: They were really into the game...even though it seemed silly at first I couldn't help but feel a bit excited near the end there.

Manuel: Huh?

"I looked over my shoulder to see two students who were fixated on me and Anthony's race results the moment our eyes met they both got up from the table they were sitting at and left. I shrugged it off as I looked back at Angel and Anthony preparing to race I was focused on the screen until I felt a poke on the right side of my abdomen. I left out a loud yelp as I was startled by this. Anthony and Angel crashed their vehicles in the game as a result. I look over to my right to see Emi giggling."

Manuel: (Blushes) A-atsuo-san!

Emi: (Giggles) You have the best reactions!

Manuel: (Bashful) I do not...

Anthony: Dang and we just started too...

Angel: It was my turn and everything...

"Emi looks back at the two as she realized what happened in the game."

Emi: Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you guys lose.

Angel: Ehh it's fine. Besides you made him yelp like a little puppy, so it evens itself out.

Manuel: Shut up you jerk!

"I smacked Angel in the arm with the back of my hand to his shoulder as he laughed. Emi chuckles at this."

Emi: Still sorry for sneaking up on you like that.

Manuel: Nah don't worry about it. I didn't mind.

Emi: (Smiles) We'll see if you're still saying that the next time, I see you.

Manuel: No fair.

Emi: (Chuckles) Yes fair. (Smiles)

"Anthony and Angel merely smiled at each other as they then turned back to Emi."

Angel: So Atsuo-san what brings you by?

Emi: Oh, I umm...you see I wanted to ask Estrada-san this but since you're all here I suppose I'll tell you guys as well.

"Emi clears her throat as she looks at me strained in the eyes."

Emi: I remember that you told me that you had a love for games so I thought since you're new here I would show you around in a mall not too far from here. It has this huge arcade and I just happen to have two day passes there from a family friend of mine so I thought this Saturday we can go?

"I look at Emi straight in the eyes as I was stunned by this offer. Me and Emi didn't break eye contact until Angel cleared his throat loudly and Anthony waved in front of us. We both looked back at them snapping back to reality."

Anthony: Hi. Remember us? We're still here too, you know?

Emi: Oh, uhh you guys are invited too! Of course...wouldn't want you guys to be excluded! This might be a good chance for us to get to know each other better! I could ask my family friend for two more passes, so it won't be a problem.

Angel: Sweet!

Manuel: Thanks, that sounds really nice of you to do for us. I'll definitely be down to go. Text me the details later, okay?

Emi: Yeah!

"The sound of the bell ringing puts our conversation to a halt."

Angel: Damn lunch is over already? I was hoping that I could play another race in "Godspeed". Oh well there's no helping it, I guess.

Anthony: Don't worry, we'll have another chance to play, I'm sure.

"Anthony's phone begins to ring as he stands up from his seat. He looks at it as his smile faded away."

Anthony: I should take this.... before class starts. I'll see you guys' home.

"Anthony picks up the phone as he walks away with his bag. Angel grabs his things and stands up."

Angel: I should get going too. I can't be late now, should I? See you later Atsuo-san.

"Angel then grabs my shoulder with his left hand as he was about to leave and begins to whisper."

Angel: (Whispers) Don't flirt for too long, okay?

"My face grew red as he said this. As I was about to tell him something Angel had run away from me as he headed his way to class. I look back at Emi and a nervous smile appears across my face."

Manuel: (Nervously laughs) W-well I should be going now I guess...

"I turned around about to head to my next class, but I was stopped by Emi."

Emi: Hey. Umm Estrada-san?

Manuel: (Turns around) Yeah what's up?

Emi: Well, are you feeling, okay? You were only discharged just last night, weren't you?

Manuel: Yeah, don't worry I'm fine.

Emi: You sure? You would say something if you're not feeling well, right?

Manuel: Of course, I would after all as someone who plans on being a Doctor one day I need to be mindful of my own health.

Emi: You're right...I just was worried for you is all...

"Emi looks down for a moment as her face becomes red. I smiled as I looked around to see other students leaving the cafeteria."

Manuel: We should probably get to class soon.

Emi: Oh, uh you're right. I'll see you Saturday for sure then...?

Manuel: Yeah! I wouldn't miss it!

Emi: Okay see you then Estrada-san.

Manuel: You too Atsuo-san.

"I smiled as I began to go towards my next class. Time passes by as I go through the motions through School and soon enough Saturday was here."

*Saturday - Afternoon*

"Me, Angel and Anthony made it to the Front of the Arcade on the opposite side of the Mall that Emi told us to come to via text message. People passed us as we stood still as the crowd passed by us. We stared at the building in awe as we were taken aback by the size of this Arcade."

All three: Whoa...

Angel: Manny?

Manuel: Yeah?

Angel: Never seen something like this back in Kochi...

Anthony: That's definitely an understatement...

Emi: Hey!

"We all look over to see Emi run up to us."

Emi: Sorry did I make you guys wait?

Anthony: Nope.

Angel: Not at all.

"I couldn't help but stare in awe towards Emi who was dressed in her street clothes. She was wearing a white head band on the top of her head with her hair down. She was also wearing jeans along with a black shirt along with a white jacket wearing a pair of sneakers. I was distracted by how differently she looked outside of her school uniform. I was completely in trace as it was then broken but the snapping of Anthony's fingers in front of my face."

Anthony: Hey! Earth to Manuel!

Manuel: Huh?

Angel: Hey what are you doing just standing there?

Manuel: (Blushes) I Uhh....sorry I just...

Emi: Huh...?

Manuel: Nothing, just day dreaming is all...

Emi: Oh, umm okay well if no one objects let's head on inside.

Angel: Sounds good!

Anthony: Lead the way....

"Emi leads Anthony and Angel into the entrance of the arcade as they walked inside the building. I watched as they all walked in as I began to compare myself with how I dress myself compared to the others. Angel who dressed himself in a casual outfit wearing a blue shirt, short sleeved button down shirt and pants with sneakers while Anthony was wearing a black cardigan with a plain white shirt underneath, dark blue jeans and ankle length shoes. I looked down at my apparel as I frowned at my sense of style. A plain white, gray, and blue hoodie, a T-shirt with a character of Mario on it, jeans, and a light gray pair of high tops. I look back up as I frown to myself."

*Look at her....she's really stunning and I'm...just....way out of her league. No way a girl like her would ever want to get to know a guy like me on a personal level. I shouldn't ask for anything more than the kindness she has already given me. *

"Shortly after giving this thought to myself, I hurried on inside the arcade after the others. We scanned our passes and continued venturing through the Arcade which has different floors for Crane games, bowling, laser tag, Arcade machine, indoor sports, Karaoke, Relaxation and more. Overall, the building has a total of eleven floors full of many different activities. Me, Angel, and Anthony were in awe as we looked at the floor plan of the building by the Power card charging stations. Emi waves up a card as she smiles."

Emi: Come on you guys, I know just where to go first!

Manuel: What?! Hey!

"Next thing I knew Emi grabbed me by the wrist the rushed me over to the elevators while Anthony and Angel followed shortly behind."

Angel: Hey, wait for us!

Anthony: At least let us take in the atmosphere first!

"Next thing I knew it we were taken around the entirety of the building's floors. Emi first taken us to the crane game floor where she would amaze us all with her impressive skills in winning many different prizes from five different machines in a row. I offered to carry all the stuff animals that she won while we continued on the floors unfortunately the three of us had no luck with winning a single prize. We continued with the rest of the floors spending our time with the arcade machines raking up tickets on our card as we went through the floor. Eventually we tried our hand at the upper floors trying the sports floor where we individually took turns at a batting cage. After a few hours of trying most of the sport activities the three of us were worn out as Emi took us to the Relaxation floor where we all were left exhausted while seated at table."

Angel: (Exhausted) I can't move...my arms....

Anthony: (Exhausted) My legs feel like jelly....

Manuel: (Exhausted) I could hardly feel any of either my legs and arms...

Emi: To be fair, you three were asking for it when you three began fighting aggressively at the Battle beam in the trampoline park.

*She wasn't wrong. On the battle beam where we were balancing on we rushed each other as much as possible as we used the foam guards we were given to continuously hit each other in the head as those that were hit fell into the pit. Emi just watched from a distance as she was the fourth player on the battle beam but did not dare join in as she witnessed us continuously fighting the way we were. One time Anthony swept Angel off his feet as he hit his head against the beam as he fell into the foam pit. I followed as I charged Anthony as I tackled him into the pit. I cheered out in victory until I was met with a foam guard to the face as Angel threw it full forced causing me to fall into the foam pit. Emi must've been really embarrassed by us. *

Emi: (Chuckles) You guys really are competitive with this kind of place, aren't you?

Manuel: It's just the atmosphere of the place.

Anthony: We usually play video games indoors online. We got competitive when it comes to games so to be in a place like this. It's like a dream come true.

Emi: I see. Still, you guys went into that fight pretty fast. You all just kept going and when one of you fell the other just got up on the beam and attacked right back.

Manuel: Yeah, we're really at each other's throats when it's in games. To be honest having a real fight like this really was the first for us.

Angel: We rarely did anything physically back home in Kochi.

Emi: Really? None of you guys were in sport clubs? I thought it was mandatory back in Middle School?

Anthony: Maybe for you but for us not really so much.

Emi: What do you mean?

Angel: You see the three of us were a special case. You want to explain it, Manny?

Manuel: Oh well.... I don't want to bother Atsuo-san with our life story.

Emi: I don't mind listening as long as you don't mind sharing with me.

Manuel: Well...

"I looked at Angel and Anthony as they gave me an approving nod. I sighed as I began to opened up to Emi."

Manuel: I told you a few days ago that I was rushed to hospital because of an accident I was in. What I didn't tell you was that because of that accident I was forced from ever participating in anything physical due to the internal damage I had suffered. So, whenever it was time for P.E. back in elementary, I was always left sitting out since I couldn't keep up with the other kids.

Angel: As for me I was born with Severe Asthma so I couldn't keep up in a physical environment without my lungs gasping for air.

Anthony: As for me I was once in track and field but due to an accident I had to get stitches but when I was running, I felt the pain in my side. It was then that I figured out that I had Runner's Stitch, so I felt the pain of the stitch whenever I ran.

Manuel: All three of us sat out Physical activities and kept each other company. One day I was bored and brought in my console. We all got obsessed with games from that point on.

Angel: One summer we all did oddball jobs and saved up money to get gaming laptops. Every single day after school we hopped online and played games for hours on end.

Emi: You three were always together, weren't you?

Angel: "Were"? We still are.

Manuel: Knowing our conditions. The teachers all sent us to study hall in Middle school instead of doing P.E. we often brought our laptops and played games for the entire P.E. period.

Emi: Are guys still affected by your conditions?

Angel: Yeah, for me I always have my inhaler on me so if my asthma kicks in and gets really bad I pull it out, use it and I'm ready to go.

Anthony: I still feel the pain whenever I run but other activities don't really bother me as much as in the past.

Emi: I see...what about you Estrada-san...?

Manuel: Well....to be honest I got over my abdominal pain two years after I was discharged from the hospital. I didn't want to leave my friends hanging so I lied and continued to join them in the study hall.

Emi: That's pretty surprising. I kind of figured you to be an ideal student who follows the rules all the time.

Manuel: I mean technically I did. I just "forgot" to inform them that my condition was better. Besides that, was middle school. Now that I'm in high school I want to participate in P.E.

Angel: Me too!

"Just then the sound of Anthony's phone ringing interrupted the conversation at hand. Anthony pulls out his phone as he stands up."

Anthony: I should take this. I'll be right back.

"Anthony walks to the other side of the room to take his call. I was concerned by this at first but I shrugged it off. Me and Angel turned our attention back to Emi, continuing our conversation."

Emi: Well, you'll be happy to learn that in a couple of weeks our school is gonna have Sports Day at school. The whole day is practically going to be a full day of P.E. class.

Manuel: Whoa really? That's awesome! I'm looking forward to it.

Angel: Yeah, it's been a while since I've gotten to participate. Asthma or not I'm gonna do my best for the rest of High School!

"Emi smiles and nods at this then looks at the time on her watch."

Emi: Hmm the passes time ends in a couple of minutes. Do you guys want to go to the Mall's food court and get something to eat?

Manuel: Sounds good but let's wait for Anthony and see what he wants to do.

"Angel looks over towards the direction which Anthony has walked in for his phone call, and he noticed Anthony walking back towards us."

Angel: Speak of the devil. Hey Anthony, want to get a bite to eat?

Anthony: Sounds...good. But Angel, we should really look around the Mall for jobs like we promised Sensei.

Angel: Huh? I mean yeah but can't that wait until after we eat?

Anthony: I don't want to put it off.

Angel: But I-

Anthony: Angel! Just come with me...please?

"Me and Emi look at each other concerned. As Angel sighed as he got up and looked at the two of us."

Angel: Looks like we're gonna have to cut this short. Thank you so much for the passes Atsuo-san. We'll be sure to pay you back for it.

Emi: Don't even worry about it.

Angel: See you home, Manny. C'mon Anthony let's go.

"Anthony nods as Angel walks over to the elevator with Anthony following shortly afterwards. The two got into the elevator and left."

Emi: I hope everything is okay with your friend...

Manuel: Yeah....I hope so too.

*Saturday - Evening*

*After parting from Anthony and Angel, I was walking Emi back home after we got some food and looked around the mall for a bit since it was getting late, and I wanted her to be safe. During the entire walk I kept on thinking to myself about what's going on with Anthony as of late. I was looking down as I was walking with Emi. She then waved her hand in front of my face getting my attention. *

Emi: Hey. Are you okay?

Manuel: Huh? Uhh yeah...Sorry.

Emi: You've been quiet ever since Angel and Anthony left.

Manuel: Yeah sorry. (Nervously laughs) Sorry if I brought down the mood.

Emi: (Shakes head) No not at all. I understand that you're worried about your friends. You really care for them, don't you?

Manuel: Yeah, I do. They're my best friends.

Emi: I wish I had someone like that. It seems nice.

Manuel: Don't you have friends from school?

Emi: No unfortunately my best friend left Seito City due to their parents finding work somewhere across the country.

Manuel: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.

Emi: Yeah...I miss her a lot, but she gave me confidence in myself and got me to be more outgoing. It's because of her I am the way I am.

Manuel: She sounds pretty cool. Wish I could've met her.

Emi: I think you two would've gotten along. You know.... I know how it is to worry about your friends, I worry about mine every day. We still talk but I can't help but worry. Somethings are just out of our control you know?

Manuel: Yeah...oh hey we're here.

Emi: Oh, wow that was fast. Huh walking home usually feels like it takes longer.

Manuel: Maybe it goes by faster now that you have a friend to walk with you. (Lightly smiles)

Emi: "Friend"? Who says we're friends?

Manuel: Huh? Well, I could've sworn that- oh my god I'm sorry I guess I just assumed that-!

Emi: Estrada-san!

Manuel: What?

Emi: I'm just messing with you! (Giggles)

Manuel: (Sighs in relief) Oh boy you really had me going there.

Emi: Sorry for taking that joke too far.

Manuel: No, it's okay. I'm pretty dense when it comes to this sort of things.

"We laughed for a minute then an awkward silence then passed us. I looked at my phone for the time."

Manuel: Oh, wow it's getting pretty late! I should probably get going right now.

Emi: R-right. Be safe going home.

"I turned around about to make my way home until Emi stopped me."

Emi: Hey! umm...

Manuel: Yeah?

Emi: Let's do this again! It's nice to hang out with friends.

"I smiled as I nodded back towards Emi in response."

Manuel: See you at school!

"I began to rush back home as I began to run back onto the way towards the station."

* "Friends" huh? Well, it's nice to have a new friend here. Hopefully we can have more hangouts like this. *

"After running for a while, I walked the rest of the way to the station. I stopped by a convenient store to get a drink as I waited for the next train to come."

Store Employee: Have a nice night!

"I waved back at the employee as I walked out of the store and onto the sidewalk. I opened my drink and drank from the bottle. I looked around getting a grasp on my surroundings. There were very few people out on the street during this time at night. I silently looked in all directions then from afar I saw Luna walking across the street."

Manuel: Yumizuki-san...?

"I turned around towards her direction as I then noticed an older man in all dark clothes with a hood over his head following closer after her. I dropped my drink and began running towards her direction as I was, I saw the man increasing his speed about to grabbed Luna by the collar. I was still a good distance away as I was sprinting towards them I called out for her."

Manuel: Yumizuki-san!!

"Luna looks over to my direction as the stranger grabbed onto her collar but as soon as this happened. Luna reacted accordingly. She stomped on the man's foot and delivered a swift blow to his stomach with her elbow. The man let go of Luna as all the air exited his body. Luna then grabbed the man and swung him over her shoulder, slamming him into the sidewalk. She took a few steps as I ran up to her."

Manuel: You okay?

Luna: Yeah, I am... (Yells out to the passerby's) Hey someone call the police! He just tried to grab me!

"A few bystanders took out their phones and called the police. Meanwhile Luna grabbed me by the wrist and dragged me over closer to the station. After we left the scene, I found myself waiting for the train with Luna. She sighed in relief as I stared at her in a mixture of fear and surprise."

Luna: Jeez I was coming back home from jujitsu. I had no idea that guy was following me. I guess it was a good thing that you were there Manuel.

Manuel: Yeah...no I think you would've handled yourself well even if I wasn't there. I mean I was surprised enough that you knocked the air out of him but you kind of took it too far by flipping him over your shoulder.

Luna: Hey creeps like that shouldn't be trying to grab girls so that guy I had it coming.

Manuel: I mean true, but shouldn't we have waited for the police?

Luna: No, it just would've been a hassle and a half. One that I did not want to deal with. Anyways let's change the subject. Where were you coming from so late?

Manuel: I mean it's barely 10 o'clock plus Nakamura-sensei told me and my friend that we can stay out as late as we want as long as we tell him where we're at.

Luna: Hmm I see. Hey, don't dodge the question. I asked where did you were coming back from?

Manuel: Well, I was actually walking a friend of mine back home. We were hanging out around the mall, first at the arcade then the food court we talked for a while but she has a curfew so had to walk back home with her, so her folks doesn't have to worry.

Luna: Wait what?! You barely moved here, and you already went on a date? Wow and I figured you to be on the shy side.

Manuel: What the- it wasn't a date! And I'll have you know that I was with my friends too, you know?

Luna: Well then where are they? They came with you, right? So where are they?

"Luna smiles at me Mischievously. I began to feel flustered."

Manuel: Uhh...they had to leave earlier...

Luna: (Laughs) Just admit it already you were totally on a date with that "friend" of yours!

Manuel: Oh, whatever helps you sleep at night. (Blushes)

Luna: Hey relax I'm just kidding. I'm just trying to give you a hard time after all you are gonna be on the same team as Me and Amy.

Manuel: Right...you and Chouno-san....

Luna: Estrada-san. You're heading for the station, aren't you?

Manuel: Yeah actually.

Luna: Come on let's continue this conversation over there then.

Manuel: Sure.

"Me and Luna walked over to the station. We found an empty bench to sit by while we wait for our own perspective trains to come in. "

Luna: I'm sorry about the way she treated you the other day. She was in the wrong and she shouldn't had pushed you.

Manuel: It's...whatever....it's nothing new that I can't deal with.

Luna: Well still I just wanted to tell you that you didn't deserve that. She developed a pretty nasty anger issue after certain things happened a year back. She hasn't been the same since. A mixture of that and the stress from being a Persona Surgeon, she just lets it slip sometimes.

*Right....Her losing Kaito....It would make sense...*

Manuel: Thanks....Speaking of which, while we're on the subject...

Luna: Hmm?

Manuel: I'm a Persona Surgeon now, right?

Luna: Yeah.

Manuel: Well, what exactly do we do? I just have so many questions. Like how long has the virus been around and do we have to bring other patients to the hospital like you guys did with me? What exactly is a Persona?

Luna: Hey. Slow down. Deep breaths okay...?

"Me and Luna take a deep breath as we continued the conversation at hand."

Luna: You calmed down now?

Manuel: Yeah, just a little bit....Sorry....but I just can't stop thinking about it....

Luna: And that's understandable. Listen come by the hospital sometime in the morning. There's something that we're gonna show you to help you get some experience on operating.

Manuel: Wait seriously we're operating on someone tomorrow?!

Luna: Well, something like that. It would be better if we showed you.

"Just then a train came passing through the station as its coming to a complete stop Luna stood up and reached her hand out to me."

Luna: From this moment onwards we're working together so I look forward to working with you, Estrada-san.

Manuel: Likewise. And I promise you I'll do my best.

"I reached out to grab Luna's hand and we shook hands. The doors on the train opened up and Luna walked onboard. She looks back at me."

Luna: Be safe on your way home.

Manuel: Yeah, same to you too.

"The train doors closed and started to slowly move out of the station. Luna waves as her train leaves the station. I looked up at the night sky as I thought about what's going to happen tomorrow and just as I thought about it. An idea filled my mind. I took out my phone and called James. He answered quickly."

Manuel: (On Phone) Hey! Yeah, don't worry, I'm at the station so I'll be home shortly. Did Angel and Anthony get back home?.......Oh okay good to hear. Listen Nakamura-sensei, I need to ask a favor from you. I think it would be a good idea for the deal they made for living at the house.

*Sunday Morning*

Nurse: Welcome to the first day of orientation! We're so glad to have two new young custodian workers join our team. Here at Seito General Hospital, we all have a part to play for the patients that come here. Every member of our team is important, especially custodian workers in order to keep the hospitals always clean in order to keep germs and such away from patients. I understand that the two of you are high schoolers, are you not?

Angel & Anthony: Yes Ma'am!

Nurse: (Giggles) There's no need to be so formal. I understand that you two are nervous but don't worry our team is very nice and courteous to the schedules of high schoolers as yourselves. During this orientation I'll be showing you around the entirety of the hospitals where certain custodian closet locations are, where to go when a commanding nurse tells you to, stuff like that.

Angel & Anthony: Yes, please do!

"The nurse escorts Anthony and Angel on a tour around the hospital. Anthony and Angel took this time to whisper between each other while the nurse is giving a mandatory orientation speech."

Anthony: (Whispers) I still can't believe Manuel was able to get us these jobs.

Angel: (Whispers) Yeah, I was shocked too when Nakamura told us the news this morning but hey it beats trying to look for a job when one literally gets handed to us you know? I think Manny really had our backs on this one.

Anthony: (Whispers) Yeah, no kidding.

"Anthony and Angel stopped their conversation at hand and focused their attention on the nurse giving them the tour, both of them looked around. As they were passing hall through hall Anthony spotted at the corner of his eye someone that looked familiar to him. He stopped in his tracks and looked in that direction to find Manuel talking with Amy and Luna. The three quickly moved to the opposite side of the wing leaving Anthony curious as to what they were doing here."

*Manuel's POV*

*In CR*

"We all attached our Persona Gauntlets to our left arms. We were in the same room that I was admitted to when I was infected by the virus. Luna throws up a thumbs up to James who was looking down at us from the observation window."

Luna: We'll be back as soon as possible!

Manuel: Wait, aren't we operating? Why are we leaving?

Amy: Did Luna not tell you anything about today?

Manuel: She just said we're doing something similar to operating.

Luna: (Smiles) We are.

Amy: (Sternly) Luna.

Luna: (Awkwardly laughs) W-well something like that.

Amy: Just follow us and whatever you do, don't fall into the sea.

Manuel: Wait what?

"Amy presses a couple of buttons on the touch screen of her Gauntlet. Just then a green holographic circle appears in front of us. A large green portal appeared in front of us. I stumbled back as my eyes widen."

(The Portal)

Manuel: What the hell?!

Amy: Just follow us and don't try to slow us down.

"Amy walks in front of the portal. She takes out her Gashat and inserts it into her gauntlet. As she did, she began running and in a blink of an eye a green flash filled the room, and she was gone. I began to panic slightly."

Manuel: What the hell?! Wher-...Where did she just go?!

"I look over towards Luna she spun her Gashat in her hand and inserts it into her gauntlet. She spun around and looked at me as she smiled."

Luna: Come on Estrada-san! You don't want to be left behind do you? (Giggles) Come on it's perfectly safe!

"Luna spun back and faced the portal as she ran through it another green flash filled the room and she was gone too. I was left there anxious and a bit startled. I started to pace around the room."

Manuel: (Groans) I'm not sure how I feel about this....Just when I thought that things couldn't get any crazier they just opened up a portal in front of me! (Takes out gashat and looks at it) Then again if I can help people who were infected with the virus like how I was. Then I got to be brave! (Insert gashat into gauntlet) Just think of it like a game Manuel just think of it. Like a game.

*Third Person POV*

"Nakamura who was watching from the observation window looks down at Manuel. For a split second he could have sworn that Manuel's eyes turned green. Nakamura rubs his eyes with one of his hands and when he looks back down at Manuel his eyes were back to his normal color."

Nakamura: What the hell...? Did I just imagine that?

"Just as Nakamura spoke out loud to himself Manuel started running towards the portal a flash of green light filled the room as he had vanished. With no one else left in the room the portal closed itself as quickly as it had appeared. Nakamura keep staring intently into the quarantine room with a sense of worry."

Nakamura: Please be safe Manuel....

*Manuel's POV*

"I slowly began to regain my consciousness as I heard voices fairly close to me."

Amy: You think he's dead?

Luna: No, it's probably just the effects from the passing through portal for the first time. Remember how we were when we first passed through it?

Amy: Well, if he doesn't wake up in the next few minutes, we're leaving him here.

Luna: Hey, don't be rude! I'm sure he'll wake up any moment now.

"Just then I opened my eyes fully I was met with Luna to the left of me and Amy to the right of me. They both quickly reacted when I woke up."

Luna: Oh, good you're finally awake! I was actually starting to worry a little bit, but you seem to be just fine.

Amy: Another minute we were about to leave you. Come on newbie we got to show you around.

Manual: I feel strange....and I got a headache. I can hardly see...Everything is so blurry...

Amy: That's normal when you go through the gateway for the first time. With a few more trips here you'll be able to get over the effects.

Luna: It'll pass in a minute or two. Here let me help you up. (Reaches out hand)

"I lifted my left hand up and grabbed onto Luna's. She then helped me up from the ground."

Manuel: Thanks. (Looks at ground) Grass? When did we go outside?

Amy: We're not. Well, we are but not in our sense.

Luna: Just look ahead. Take as long as you need just until your eyes are adjusted.

"After a while of settling my vision returned to me. I look ahead as I took several steps forward that the new land in front of me."

Manuel: whoa......

Manuel: Where are we?

Luna: Welcome to the "Quarantine".

Manuel: The "Quarantine"?

Amy: You remember before when you were infected with the Virus? Depending on how great the sin a world is created within the infected patient's mind or their subconscious, if you will. We call them "Cipher Worlds".

Manuel: Wait so this huge place is...

Amy: That's right...This is everyone's Cipher World.

Manuel: "Cipher Worlds"? Wait if these are made from the virus then how does everyone have one? Don't tell me that they're all infected.

Luna: It's a bit confusing but we're gonna have to explain on the way.

-End Track-

"Amy and Luna started to walk in the opposite direction of the view of the islands. I quickly followed them."

Manuel: So why do you guys call this world the "Quarantine"?

Amy: Because this is where a person first gets infected by the Virus.

Luna: Imagine this, many of the things that makes up this society as we know it is through the digital realm known as the "Internet". Everything we do, chatting, posting, streaming, etc. the way of our lives is revolved around the Internet. It makes life easier for people. In reality, we often have to mind ourselves and put on masks to "fit in" with the masses. On the net, its completely different people can take off those masks and can be their truest form of who they are since online most times you wouldn't know who's really on the opposite side of the screen. This world is where everyone subconsciously gathers.

Manuel: So this world that's made out of code is the common ground for people's subconscious?

Amy: You're pretty quick I'll give you that. All of these islands lead to different areas. Forest areas, Mountain areas, Futuristic cities, a new island is born every day. There in these areas we'll find NPCs.

Manuel: NPCs? Non-Playable Characters?

Luna: They're the residents here but they just repeat the same stuff repeatedly. Like in those video games you play. This world and islands are just made up of different levels and NPCs are the inhabitants of this world.

Manuel: Like an MMO.

Amy: A what?

Manuel: A MMO stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Game. In an MMO, depending on which server you're playing on you could encounter many different NPCs who are different than in other servers. But I'm starting to wonder why video games?

"Luna and Amy look at each other with concern expressions."

Amy: W-we still don't know why.

Luna: The only thing that comes to mind is that if everyone is subconsciously looking towards the internet as their safe haven to be themselves then they would need a world. A fantasy like world to feel at home in.

"I walk closer to the edge as I look at the floating Islands in the distance."

Manuel: So many of them...will we being exploring any of them today?

"The rocks underneath me at the edge gave out and crumbled beneath my feet. I yelled as I began to fall. Just then I heard Luna cry out someone's name."

Luna: Harri!

"Just as I was falling, I was caught in midair and had a pink aura covering my entire body. I tried to move but found that I was unable to."

Manuel: What the- (Screams)

"I was then shot upwards through the air as the pink aura disappeared from around my body. I began to fall towards the ground of the island we were on. My two teammates watched as I screamed crashing into the ground."

Manuel: Owww......

Amy: (Laughs) You looked like a rag doll!

Luna: Amy! (Rushes over towards Manuel) Are you okay?

Manuel: Y-yeah, I think so...thanks for the save. (Stands up while dusting himself off)

Amy: (Snickers) Serves you right for going near the edge.

Luna: Amy!

Manuel: No, she's right. I shouldn't have gone that close to the edge. I just- I don't know...I was just so excited to see what this world has in store.

(Luna's Persona: Masked Magician, Harri - Star Arcana)

"Just then, in a flash of blue light, Luna's persona appeared right next to her. It twirled its baton in its hand as it disappeared."

Luna: Thanks, Harri!

Amy: We've been over this Luna. Personas don't talk.

Luna: Hey I still think the thought counts.

Amy: Anyways if some of us are done putting themselves into danger. (Side eyed at Manuel)

Manuel: (Nervously Laughs)

Amy: We have a mission to complete.

"I look over to see the digital sea. I gulped as I look back towards Amy."

(The Digital Sea)

Manuel: Hey so just curious what would've happened if I fell there?

Amy: There's nothing else underneath the islands. Just what we call the "Digital Sea". If you fell into it your physical body would've disappear causing all your cells to disintegrate. We tested what would happen with various objects we brought from our world and dropped it into the Sea.

"Amy grabbed a rock from the ground and threw it over the edge, dropping it into the Digital Sea. A white flash of light emitted in the area as the rock disintegrated. My eyes widen as Amy looks at me with a stern look."

Amy: Be glad Luna was here to save you. Nightrose can't reach as far as Harri can. For now on, follow our lead and try not to get yourself killed alright?

"I nodded as I followed along with them. We reached what had looked like a broken arch at the edge of the island. Just then my gauntlet started to react, and a notification appeared across the screen that read 'Shadow Virus Detected'. I lifted up my gauntlet and looked up at the arch. It began to glow green, and another portal opened in the arch. Luna and Amy looked at their gauntlets as well and a portal opened in front of them."

Luna: Well let's get to work.

Amy: Get ready Estrada.

Manuel: Ready for what?

"Both of them slide through the weapon catalog on the Gauntlet and the two of them summoned their weapons. Luna armed herself with a bow and quiver full of arrows while Amy armed herself with a falchion. They both looked at each other and nodded as they both ran through the portal."

Manuel: Hey wait! (Scrolls through Gauntlet) Really wished we talked about this before we left home!

"Just then, I felt a massive pain in my head. I dropped to my knees as I held my head with my hands."

???: Personas are nothing to fear....it's just an extension of your inner self......the you who faces hardships that's what a persona is....accept that and it'll listen to you....it'll give you strength......

"My head started to pound as I saw flashes of a man in his early 20s in a doctor's coat as he hands me a blank gashat. As quickly as the flashes appeared, I quickly shook off the pain I was feeling."

Manuel: What was that?

"I lifted myself up as I shook off the pain. I scrolled through the weapon catalog on my Gauntlet and summoned my sword I used against the Shadow Virus I was infected with. I looked at the weapon and looked up at the portal."

Manuel: (Shakes head) Get it together Manuel! (Takes breath) Just do what you always do......and play the game...

"A gust of wind passed by me, I closed my eyes and took another deep breath. I opened my eyes and smiled as I then ran through the portal."

*Game Area - Mountains*

"I went through to the other side of the portal and found myself in a entirely new area. The Portal disappeared as I walked ahead looking around."

Manuel: Whoa...this is so cool.

"I was then grabbed by the collar and pulled back behind a rock formation. I turned around to see Luna and Amy."

Manuel: Hey what's up?

Luna: We're in enemy territory...

Amy: Look straight ahead.

"Amy points ahead of us. I looked towards the direction she pointed in and saw a girl in a Swift Star Academy uniform."

Manuel: What the hell? How did someone from our school get here?

Luna: No, the only ones that can enter the Quarantine are people who have a Persona Gauntlet and who also possess a Persona.

Manuel: Then how is she-?

Amy: Take a closer look.

"I watched as the girl turned around looking around the place still unaware of us watching her from a distance. I looked at her eyes to see them glowing a bright yellow."

Manuel: Whoa...I'm guessing that not a human.

Amy: I told you before that the Quarantine is everyone's Cipher World. Here in the Quarantine we'll find people who are infected by a small trace of the Shadow Virus. First it infected a person's shadow in the Quarantine then it infects that person back in reality.

Manuel: Now that I look at that shadow she reminds of...

"I was reminded of one of Anri's bullies back at school. The shadow we were looking at was one of her bullies. I looked at her shadow sternly. I backed ahead as Amy and Luna looked on."

*Third-Person POV*

Amy: (Looks at Gauntlet) That shadow over there is infected with a small amount of the virus. Most likely it's going to become very aggressive towards us once it sees us. We have to think about our approach on this.

Luna: Umm Amy?

Amy: Not now Luna. I need to see what skills Nightrose can use for a surprise attack. The sooner we end this fight the better especially with our new recruit here.

Luna: Amy.

Amy: Luna seriously I have to focus here.

Luna: Amy!

Amy: (Growls and looks at Luna) What?!

Luna: Estrada-san already went on ahead.

Amy: He did what?!

"Amy looks back at the shadow to see Manuel walking towards it out in the open. Amy screams at this."

Amy: (Screams) What the hell is wrong with you?! It's like you want to die or something!

Luna: This is turning out to be an interesting day.

*Just shut it already. I want some answers here.*

Manuel: Hey, remember me?

"Manuel sternly says as he stabbed his sword into the ground. He walks up to the shadow with his hands up showing that he has no weapons."

Shadow Anri's Bully: Oh it's you...what the hell do you want?

"Manuel puts his hands down and stares down the shadow."

Manuel: I want to know something...You and your friend were bullying Shinozuka-san earlier this week. I want to know why.

Shadow Anri's Bully: What are you trying to be her knight in shining armor?

Manuel: No, Shinjo-san has that covered. I'm just a guy who wants to be their friend.

Shadow Anri's Bully: "Friend"? Are you insane? Do you know the rumors about those two?

Manuel: I don't know, and I don't care about those things.

Shadow Anri's Bully: If you knew, you would feel differently.

Manuel: You know, you're not the first person to tell me otherwise but I want to decide for myself whether or not they're good people. Not you or anyone else is going to decide that for me.

Shadow Anri's Bully: So, you come to me while I'm like this.

"The shadow raises up its arm and it begins to glitch just like how Manuel did when he was infected. The Shadow smiled at Manuel as he kept a stern expression upon his face."

Shadow Anri's Bully: I can feel it you know. This virus slowly consuming me, I know that it's only a matter of time until my real self gets infects.

Manuel: (Sighs) No it's not gonna. Me and my fr-....partners are here to cure you.

Shadow Anri's Bully: Even after I bullied that freak Shinozuka?

Manuel: I want to believe that everyone has their own reasons to the actions they do every day. I want to know why you truly hate Shinozuka-san. Whether I'm her friend or not...I can never turn my back on someone when they're being tormented.

"Memories began to fill in Manuel's mind of an elementary bully who used to pick on Anthony and Angel when they were younger. Manuel had usually stepped in to help his friend but had always gotten jumped but three of the bully's friends had jumped in, held Manuel by the arms as they each took turns punching and kicking him. They would eventually drop him on the blacktop ground as Angel and Anthony who were also roughed up by the bullies check to see on Manuel. Manuel slowly got up as he then rushed in towards the biggest bully of the group and punched him so hard across the face. The bully fell to the ground as the other bullies surrounded the younger Manuel but then Anthony and Angel jumped into the brawl as well. Manuel smiled as he runs in to continue fighting. Back in Reality, Manuel takes a deep breath."

Manuel: With that being said, as a doctor I will save you before the virus fully infects you.

"The female shadow then begins to cackle as the area around them begins to darken. Manuel grabs his sword which he had struck into the ground and summons Hope Lv. 1 to jump back a good 10 feet away from her and as he landed he readies himself for whatever maybe in store for him."

Shadow Anri's Bully: (Cackles) Please you aren't a doctor! You aren't even a hero! You're just a freak like Shinozuka and Shinjo!!! I'll be happy to tear you apart piece by piece!!!!

"The female shadow then began to glow green and began transforming. The shadow took on a more monstrous form as it then screeches towards Manuel's direction. Manuel smirks at this as he feels a sudden rush of adrenaline through his body."

(The form that the Shadow turned into Bicorn)

Manuel: Looks like you're going all out huh? Guess I'll do the same!

"Manuel grabs the lever on his gauntlet as he calls out for Hope."

Manuel: Hope! Next Stage!

"Manuel pulled open the lever opening up the front plate of the Gauntlet as a holographic gate of a tarot card is revealed in front of him. Hope flies through the gate and evolves just as it did before while the shards from the broken tarot card gate formed into golden church bells. Manuel looks up at Hope as his persona reaches Lv. 2."

Manuel: Let's do this Hope!

"Manuel gets into a stance as he smiles at the shadow. Out of nowhere, Amy came from behind and smacked Manuel across the back of his head. Luna then walked over to grab Manuel's Gauntlet and closes the lever. This caused Hope to revert back into his original state. This also caused all of the bells to disappear as well."

Amy: What the hell is the matter with you?!

Manuel: First of all, Owwww! Second, what does it look like?! I'm about to fight the shadow!

Luna: You can't level up your Persona right now.

Manuel: (Chuckles) Look I know you two never played a game before but usually going all out from the start raises our chances of winning. Hope! Next Stage!

"Manuel opens the front of the gauntlet once again only to have Luna close itself again. Manuel looks down at the Gauntlet as Amy continued to lecture Manuel."

Amy: Idiot! Don't you get it?! It not the same as before!

Luna: We need to separate the Virus from the shadow first before leveling up.

Shadow Bicorn: Don't Ignore me!!!!

"Just then the Shadow Bicorn shot out three Garu (wind) blasts towards the group. The three summoned their Personas to dodge the attack. The three gained some distance from the Shadow Bicorn. Each of them hid behind a rock formation."

Manuel: I think we made her mad!

Amy: Way to state the obvious!

"Just then the Shadow Bicorn came crashing through the rock formations. Amy was able to dodge in time before she was hit by any sort of attack it brought her way. Luna brings out her bow and arrow to hit it a few time from a distance. The Bicorn roared as it had three arrows sticking out from its side. It was preparing to charge towards Luna but Manuel jumps in with his sword and sliced against his body causing it to roar in pain but then kicked Manuel away with its back hooves causing him to be sent flying back heading towards another Rock Formation. Manuel summoned Hope as it appeared behind him in order to break launch towards the rock. Manuel grunts as he hits the ground. Amy rushes in with her falchion taking a little bit of jabs at the Shadow as the Bicorn gets frustrated it struggles to try to hit Amy but Luna stops it by shooting more arrows at its body. The Shadow Bicorn was starting to lose this battle but it wasn't going to give in before it was done."

Shadow Bicorn: ENOUGH!!!

"The shadow let out a green energy blast knocking back Luna and Amy. Manuel got up from the ground only to drop back down to dodge the attack. The Shadow Bicorn was about to unleash its wrath upon Amy but then was interrupted by a rock being thrown at its head. It looked up in anger as it sees Manuel daring it to come at him."

Manuel: Hey! Remember me?! I'm right here!

"The Bicorn turned towards Manuel as he was looking through his skill list on his gauntlet only to see that Hope in its Level 1 form has nothing but defensive skills."

Manuel: Level 1 Hope is only meant for support....Damn it!

"The Bicorn then began to charge towards Manuel. Manuel freezes up realizing that he might've bitten off more than what he can chew. Amy yells at Manuel."

Amy: Get out of there, Estrada!!!

Luna: Estrada-san!

"Just then a small green glow filled Manuel's eyes. Amy noticed this as Manuel's expression became more stern and serious as he hears a male voice echo within his mind."

???: You were gifted with a rare ability....Believe in your own strength and your power will never fail you.

"Manuel then mutters a few words while staring down the shadow charging towards him."

Manuel: Persona Change.

"A holographic projection of a character selection wheel appeared spinning around Manuel. Manuel mutters two more words."

Manuel: Pixie! ZIO!

"Manuel points towards the shadow as the character selection wheel tab was selected. He summoned his Persona once again but this time it wasn't Hope. It was an entirely new Persona then before as Pixie was summoned it casted a Zio spell and had shot it towards Bicorn. Bicorn took a super effective attack which caused it to barely miss Manuel and to crash into a nearby Rock Formation. Amy and Luna were stunned by this."

Amy: No way.....it can't be.....

Luna: He used another Persona...? That should be impossible unless Estrada-san has the Wild Card! He has the Fool's Arcana?!

Amy: No way! He couldn't! Only Kaito has that ability!

"Manuel looks back at his teammates."

Manuel: What the hell are you waiting for?! Take it down now!

"The two were shocked but needed to focus on the mission at hand right now. The two summoned their Personas."

Luna: Harri! Psi!

Amy: Nightrose! Bufu!

"Shadow Bicorn recovered from the crash it had suffered as Harri and Nightrose flew up to the air and fired their own elemental attacks towards it. The Shadow Bicorn roared in pain as the Rock Formation crumbled on top of it. The three regrouped as Pixie changed into Hope and then disappeared along with the other two Personas. The three look on at the rubble expecting the Shadow to come out of the rocks. Bicorn then crashed out of the rubble as it slowly got out. It turned limp and fell onto its side."

Manuel: We did it!!

Amy: Not yet...

"The Bicorn glowed green as green smoke emits itself over its body. The shadow then reverted into its human form as the green smoke full of 0's and 1's shot out and a new shadow began to form in the smoke."

Manuel: What is that...?

Luna: A Virus Shadow....

"The green smoke turned solid fully and the new shadow is born. A giant rock golem like being wielding a stone sword in one hand and a cross in the other. The three prepared themselves for the next battle."

Luna: (To Manuel) Now we can go all out.

"The three of them looked at one another and nodded."

Amy: Nightrose! Level Up! (Pulls Lever on Gauntlet)

Manuel: Hope! Next Stage! (Pulls Lever on Gauntlet)

Luna: Harri! Act 2! (Pulls Lever on Gauntlet)

"All of their Personas began to evolve into their level 2 forms. Like before various objects appeared around the area. Treasure Chests and Church bells appeared around the battlefield. From Luna's broken tarot cards the shards shattered around the battlefield and large crystal ore deposits appeared from the ground. Manuel took note of this and looks at Luna."

Manuel: Are those crystals from your game?

Luna: Yeah. My Gashat game is "Mythic Carnival" and this is Harri's level 2 form. Masked Phantom, Harri!

"Manuel looks at the Persona and smiled. The three Persona users rushed the Shadow. Each of them use their weapons to try to damage the shadow as they send their Personas to attack after them. All physical attacks seemed pointless as the Shadow was left unfazed but the assault. It raises up its cross as it begins to cast an Agidyne spell and had aimed it towards Amy. Manuel broke open a chest as it revealed a Speed Up Power Up. He grabbed it and threw it towards Amy. Amy obtained the power up and it's effects."

*SPEED UP!*

"The shadow had fired it's spell towards Amy but using her temporary boost of speed she ran out of the way and took cover behind a nearby rock formation. Before she hides, Amy casted Bufudyne at the shadow. The Shadow got hit by the attack and began to fall forward. The stray Agidyne spell hit a nearby crystal which was spawned by Luna's Gashat. The crystal glowed brightly. Luna noticed this and hid behind a rock formation as she then used Harri to use telepathy to pull Manuel with her to take cover. The Shadow had fall on top of the crystal. A massive explosion can be heard as three rock formations came crumbling down. The shadow took most of the blow but showed no sign of slowing down. It began to use its sword to bring down various rock formations down as we all hid."

Manuel: Thanks for the save.

Luna: Don't mention it. (To Amy) Are you okay?!

Amy: Yeah I am! (To Manuel) Thanks for that. Nightrose can't take fire spells so thank you Estrada...

"Manuel nods as the Shadow crushed another nearby rock formation."

Manuel: (Growls) We're not gonna get anywhere at this rate.

Luna: Physical attacks don't work on it. We can hit it with magic but the more we do it the more exhausted we become.

Manuel: But....ice does hurt it.....(Looks over at Amy) How many of those ice spells do you have left in ya?

Amy: I could cast however is needed but I need time to cast a big one. I don't know if it would be enough to take it down though.

"Manuel peaks out from behind the rock formation and notice all the various crystals that was sticking out from the ground nearby the shadow. Manuel then looks at his Persona's skill list and sees a certain spell that he hasn't tried yet. He pulls back and tells Luna about his plan."

Luna: You're insane!

Manuel: Do you have a better idea?

"Just then the Shadow destroyed the rock formation next to both Luna and Manuel. Manuel looks at Luna with a stern expression."

Luna: Okay okay. Just don't get yourself killed.

"Manuel rushes back into the open and had summoned Hope once more."

Manuel: Kouga!

"Hope had fired a light projectile spell at the shadow getting its attention."

Manuel: Hey! Over here!

"The shadow began to flow after Manuel as his two teammates were left behind."

Amy: What the hell is he doing?!

Luna: He has a plan just charge up your attack and wait for the signal!

"Luna then summons Harri and jumps on top of a rock formation then to another following the battle. Amy just shakes her head."

Amy: (Sighs) This guy is gonna get himself killed...

"Amy summons Nightrose and does the same as Luna following close behind. Manuel brings the shadow closer to the area with various crystals and while he was dodging all of the agidyne spells that the shadow was sending his way. Luna reaches a good distance away from the battle as she then removes her Gashat from her gauntlet and inserted it into the slot on the side of the Gauntlet."

*FINISHER!!*

"Luna's gauntlet begins to glow as she waits for the right moment. Amy lands down on top of a rock formation next to Luna. She then prepares her own finisher as well."

*FINISHER!!*

Amy: Mind Charge!

"Manuel summons Hope to shield himself from a strike from the shadow's blade. He struggled as he tried his hardest to block the attack with Hope."

Manuel: (Growls) Persona Change! Jack Frost!

"The holographic projection of a character selection wheel appeared spinning around Manuel. A selection tab was chosen as Manuel had summoned a new Persona as he dodged out of the way of the shadow's large sword."

Manuel: Mabufula!

Jack Frost: Hee hoo!

"Jack Frost shot out a massive wave of ice freezing the shadow in place but also hitting five of the crystals in the process. Manuel cries out to his teammates."

Manuel: Do it now!

"Both Amy and Luna pressed a button on their gauntlets unleashing their finishers."

*MYTHIC CARNIVAL CRITICAL CRUSH!!*

*GHOSTSHIP CRITICAL BLIZZARD!!*

"Harri flies over and performs a powerful psychic spell causing the ice to break and crushing the Shadow causing it stone body to crack and crumble. Harri disappears as Nightrose flies up above the shadow casting a large ice spell in the air. Manuel then looks at the crystals glowing radiantly he changes his Persona back into Hope and attempts to run out of there but then he had slipped on a small sheet of ice on the ground formed from the ice spell he casted. he begins to fall forward as both Luna and Amy gasped at this as Manuel hits the ground."

Luna: Cancel your attack!

Amy: I can't its too late!!

"See Nightrose about to release its attack and the crystals about to blow up. Manuel summons Hope in an effort to protect himself. Nightrose shoots down a beam of ice onto the shadow as the crystals around it and Manuel began to blow up. The shockwave could be felt throughout the entire area. Amy and Luna were sent falling backwards as a fog covers the area. Both Persona users summoned their Personas and landed safely on the ground. They both gave each other a glance and rushed over towards where Manuel and the shadow was."

Luna: Estrada-san! I can't see a thing with this fog.

Amy: Nightrose!

"Nightrose appeared once more and raised its sword up absorbing all of the fog at once. In a matter of a few seconds the fog was completely gone. A large crater can be seen where Manuel and the shadow was. Neither of which was seen anywhere."

Luna: Oh my god...

Amy: He didn't make it....(Drops to her knees) Damn it! I knew we never should've brought him here!

Luna: Harri!

"Harri was summoned right behind Luna as it gently placed its staff on her head. Luna closes her eyes as she tries her best to scan the area."

Amy: Anything?

Luna: No I don't....Wait a minute I'm picking up something!

"Amy stands up as Luna then opens her eyes and points over to a rock formation just 30 feet away from them. There was a large pile of rocks at the foot of it. The two stared at it for a few seconds as it began to shake. Then Hope smack away the debris and jumped up from the rumble landing right in front of Luna and Amy. Hope then disappeared revealing Manuel just right behind it."

Manuel: Jesus that was close...

Both Amy and Luna: You're alive!

Manuel: Of course I am. I wasn't gonna lose the game that easily...

Amy: Shut up about calling it a "Game" already! You had us worried there.

Luna: Yeah seriously not cool!

Manuel: Well sorry I didn't know that Jack Frost's ice spell was gonna affect the ground the way it did. I'm just lucky I was able to use Hope's skill, "Moon Barrier". Thanks to that I was able to protect myself from the blast.

"Manuel looks around and notices that the shadow was around anymore."

Manuel: I'm guessing we got it?

Luna: Yeah we did...

Manuel: So does that mean we're finished here?

"Just then the three heard rumble being moved around. They all looked over to see the Victim's Shadow moving out of the rumble and falling to its knees."

Amy: Well....almost...

Luna: We should make sure it goes back to her real self.

Amy: Good thinking.

"The two rushed over to the Shadow as Manuel was about to follow suit he notices a strange green aura at the ground. Manuel slowly walked over towards as it begins to glow brightly."

Manuel: What is this...?

"Manuel's Gashat begins to glow. He takes it out of the gauntlet and holds it up over the green aura on the ground. It began to absorb the aura into the Gashat and when it was finished Manuel held him head in pain as he began to remember something from his past."

*Unknown amount of years ago*

"A younger child version of Manuel is seen in a hospital bed looking out of a window as a nurse then comes inside with a tray of food."

Nurse: (Smiles) Manuel-kun. I've brought you some food.

"Manuel didn't budge for even a single moment. He kept staring out the window looking at the blue sky. The nurse sets the tray down as she pulls over a seat and sits down."

Nurse: How was your treatments today?

Young Manuel:...........

Nurse: I hope the treatments aren't taking too much of a toll on your body.

Young Manuel:...........

Nurse: Well...If you need anything at all. I'm only a press of a button away.

Young Manuel:...........

Nurse: Doctor ---------- will be here shortly along with his assistant, Mr. ------------. I'm sure he'll love to see you again. Get well soon okay? (Smiles)

"Nurse gets up and leave the room. The younger Manuel looks over at various drawings he had made during his time at the hospital. He grabs the pages and goings through them one by one. He gets to the last page as he then sets it down on his table right above his lap to reveal a child's drawing of Hope. Manuel's persona."

*Back in Present Day*

Manuel: (Groans and holds head) What....was all that?

"The pain ceased to ache Manuel any further. He thought back about that drawing but was certainly positive that he never had once drew anything in his life. Manuel shook it off and ran after the others. He followed closely behind as they all stared at the shadow who was now crying."

Manuel: So what happens now?

Luna: The Shadow should be returning any moment now.

Manuel:.......

Amy: If you have anything you want to say to it. Now would be the time to do so. After all, you were trying to find out what their reason was to bully Shinozuka-san.

Luna: The mean tomboy girl at School?! That Shinozuka?!

"Manuel looked back at Luna as she then covered her mouth in response. Manuel sighed and slowly walks up to the Shadow and informed it of the good news."

Manuel: You're cured now just like I promise you. You can return now to your other self.

Shadow Anri's Bully: You shouldn't had saved me....I've- done so many horrible things to Shinozuka... (Sobs) I just hate things around me...I hate how people are so happy....I hate seeing that every single day at school. My dad left my family recently without warning....Me and my mom were left with nothing. I just been so angry and sad since the summer....(Cries)

Manuel:.........

Shadow Anri's Bully: (Sobs) I knew about the rumors that the other girls would say about Shinozuka-san. All the names they would call her. I just wanted something to pick apart...I needed someone to hurt....to give all of these negative emotions towards.....I know it was wrong but it made me feel better....I just don't know what to do....

"Tears flow down the Shadow's face as Manuel looked down towards her."

Manuel: What you've been through....its horrible. I couldn't imagine the pain it does to you on a daily basis...but you know that bullying isn't the right thing....Shinozuka-san...I don't know much about her but I could say for sure that her and Shinjo-san has their own fair share of baggage that they carry....same with you...You never know how hard things are for someone who's just trying to go through the day...

Shadow Anri's Bully: (Sobs) I'm sorry I really am....

Manuel: If you really are then....Accept your sins!

Shadow Anri's Bully: ..........

Manuel: Accept all of the bad. The worst parts about yourself and take responsibility for your actions!

Shadow Anri's Bully: (Stands up and wipes away her tears) You're right....I need to made this right. I shall return to my other self and do my best to be better. Thank you for curing me....Sensei...

"The Shadow began to glow and suddenly it had disappeared. Luna and Amy walked up towards Manuel."

Luna: That was kind of you.

Amy: For a second, I thought you were gonna let her have it...

Manuel: I wanted to....I really did....but something told me that she needed to hear that one way or another...that's why I said what I said.....

"Manuel looks back at where the shadow was then looked back at his teammates."

Manuel: So what happens to the Shadow now?

Amy: Just as it said...it returned back to their true self back in our world...For now, its safe to say that the virus won't be infecting them anytime soon.

Luna: Now that the shadow had accepted its sin. Subconsciously the real person in question would come to terms about it as well.

Manuel: (Smiles) That's great to hear. I hope they'll follow through with what they said about being better...

Amy: I doubt it...Usually when a shadow returns to their real self they don't give the real person any of the Shadow's experience in the Quarantine.

Manuel: You're wrong....

Amy: What?

Luna: How do you know?

Manuel: I don't know how to explain it. I'm just sure things will work out. (To Luna) Hey so is there anymore shadows that need to be cured?

Luna: There is a few but usually the virus takes a few days before infecting the shadow fully so we can come back here to the Quarantine another day so we can cure them. That last fight wore me out...

Manuel: (Laughs) Yeah me too...but hey we were able to complete the mission today and I got some first hand experience on a actual operation in the Quarantine. I say we accomplished a lot today.

Luna: Yup we did! Don't you agree Amy?

Amy: (Shrugs shoulders) I guess but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. (To Manuel) And you! You better not try to use yourself as bait again you hear? Otherwise you won't last long in our ranks.

Luna: That's true and next time let's try to stick together before you go walking up to the shadow...

Manuel: (Nervously Laughs) Right...

Amy: Did Nakamura taught you how to teleport back?

Manuel: Yeah he showed me the controls before when I was recovering. I just press the "Home button" on the Gauntlet right?

Luna: Yup that's right! Let's all go home now okay?

Amy: On three.

"The three held up their gauntlets as they listen to Amy count down."

Amy: One.......two........(Glances at Luna)

Luna: (Nods at Amy)

Amy: Three.

"Manuel presses the Home button on his Gauntlet and returned back to the real world while Luna and Amy stayed behind. They both had rather serious expression on their faces."

Luna: He has the Wild Card. There's no doubt about it now...

Amy: This isn't making any sense...He was infected with the virus earlier this week and he already has such good control over Persona. He doesn't even need to enter the commands on the Gauntlet.

Luna: You also said that his own shadow didn't appear right?

Amy: That's right....Nothing is making any sense...

Luna: So what should we do?

Amy: Hmmm......I think we should keep this to ourselves for now. We'll continue watching him just like Nakamura-sensei told us to...

Luna: Okay...I'll follow whatever you think is right Amy. Who knows maybe if we continue through the Quarantine using Estrada-san's abilities maybe we can find the truth about what happened that night with Kaito-kun and the cloaked Persona user...

Amy: Right.....I don't care what it takes.....We'll find him no matter what....

*The Next Day - Swift Star Academy (Reality)*

"Anri's bully from the previous week before is seen crying her eyes out as she was brought to the faculty office after she informed the teachers that she was bullying Anri."

Anri's Former Bully: (Cries loudly) I'm so sorrry! I'll accept whatever punishment you give me! I just couldn't live with myself like this anymore!!

"A group of Students gathered in the Hallway listening in on the conversation. Manuel notices the commotion and smiles as he continues to his homeroom."

*Things were rough at first but I really do believe that it was all necessary. Just a week ago I thought my real challenge was going to be surviving High School. I couldn't had been more wrong. I do wonder what are these things I keep seeing in my head? What was that voice that helped me out when I needed it? There's so many questions the grow the more I learn about the other world. I don't know what the future has in store for me but as long as I have my Persona with me. I know I'll be okay. So with all that in mind, a guy has got to wonder.*

"Manuel walks into class. He waves over to Anri and Makoto who softly waved back towards him. He takes his seat as the teacher just barely walks into the class room about to start class. Manuel smiles as he takes out his Nintendo Switch from his bag from inside his bag the Persona Gauntlet and Gashat could be seen."

*When is the next game? I want a real challenge next time...*
