Hm, oh that's was Ryuji in the past, before he gave up on trying, the only reason why he still puts up with it is to get a education to get a job to support us. Ryuji's mother says as she wipes her eyes.
How come Ryuji is not as happy as he was? Ren says as he looks at a picture of a little Ryuji smiling.
Well, it started when his father started drinking and to stress out all the anger, he'd either take it out on me or Ryuji, but it was mostly Ryuji. He'd always fight back, but never won against him. The only reason why Ryuji stresses a lot, gets into fights, or even talks back is because of him.
Not to get in his business too much, but do you know why the whole school calls him a "Track Traitor"?
The reason why they called him that was because the bastard Kamoshida hated him ever since he met him, he also hated the coach before and when he found out that Ryuji is his star of the school, Kamoshida took that to his own advantage.
What do you mean "took that to his own advantage"? Ren states with some worry in his voice.
It's exactly what you think, Ryuji was better than him  physically and kept achieving more than Kamoshida, no matter how many times he threatened the coach to kick Ryuji off the team, the coach didn't listen because Ryuji was like the son he never had. So then, Kamoshida took it to his own advantage and broke Ryuji's leg making him of course useless. Kamoshida is to blame for the school not having a team, and yet he blamed it all on Ryuji, the next thing you know it he dyed his hair blonde and became a troublemaker. Ryuji has always wanted to apologize to the others for something he didn't do. He'd always take the blame and is willing to take any risk. However, they still blamed him for everything.
By this point Ren was in shock and tears.
But, he never did anything wrong.

Ren knew that voice and looked behind and it was none other than a heartbroken Ryuji looking at him.
