Chapter 2.5

Hi! So I know nearly every current Persona Fan doesn't really know the stories of Megami Ibunroku Persona(Persona 1), Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. I'm gonna write a quick summary for each before this chapter so everyone is up to speed before I continue on. Warning: Major Plot Spoilers! Watch/play the games if you don't want it to be spoiled. I will reference these games and their plots a lot in the future. Good? Let's begin.

Megami Ibunroku Persona:

Characters:

Left to Right:(I'm using their Japanese names btw b/c the English version is stupid. Plain and simple)

Yuka Ayase: A somewhat shallow girl who doesn't think about the future and prefers to live in the moment. She is extremely blunt about her feelings, especially when something displeases her. Yuka is indifferent to other people's suffering, but will lash out and complain childishly when something affects her. She is a bad student, but despite her bad grades, Yuka has a natural ability for observation. She also makes use of valley girl slang.

Yukino Mayuzumi: She was an ex-yanki(gang-member of sorts) who was reformed thanks to the efforts of her teacher Ms. Saeko. Though she hasn't shed her yankī looks just yet, Yukino is well-recognized and trusted by the student body, acting as a mother figure of sorts to her friends.

Maki Sonomura: Normal Maki is a serene, quiet girl who takes simple pleasures such as painting or just being with her friends. But, in her youth, her poor health made her profoundly unhappy, as it denied her most of these simple delights; as a result of Takahisa Kandori's experimentation, her whole self was splintered into several personality fragments. As a result of the events of Megami Ibunroku Persona, her condition was stabilized and she was reunited to completeness, though she was left with the memories of the horrors she had unwittingly caused.

This trauma became a major motivation for her by the time of Persona 2, leading her to elect the career of a therapist so she could help others to make up for the destruction she had once wrought.

Eriko Kirishima: She is from a wealthy family, and has been studying overseas for most of her life. She decides to finish her schooling in Japan to later pursue a career in modeling and fashion design. She is among the popular girls in St. Hermelin High School because of her amiable personality. Aside from her outwardly feminine hobbies, Eriko was also interested in the occult. Because of this, she was excited to once again do the demon-summoning game "Persona" that her classmates were pulled into because of Masao Inaba and Hidehiko Uesugi's silly bet. She expresses overly-ecstatic enthusiasm over the fact that her Persona is the "Goddess of Victory." Sometimes her love for the supernatural and experiencing new things related to it clouds her judgment of what is dangerous or not.

Naoya Toudou: The protagonist as a natural leader; a compassionate, perceptive, yet blunt person who is motivated to seek his personal reason for life and discourages hiding from the truth. In the manga, Naoya also inherited this same trait, though since he is mostly quiet and going along with everyone else, the rest of the party are surprised when he shows his hot-headed side while leading them.

Naoya used to have an older twin brother named Kazuya. One day, when he was a child, Naoya had a cold and was being taken care of by Kazuya and their mother. Kazuya and their mother had to go shopping, but Kazuya went out of his way to buy a manga to cheer up Naoya. On the way home, however, Kazuya was hit by a truck and passed away. Kazuya's death greatly shook their mother to the point that because of grief, she initially mistook Naoya as Kazuya when the younger twin saw his older brother's body. Naoya quickly denied that he was Kazuya, but this made his mother cry.

During Kazuya's funeral, one of his relatives gave her condolences by telling how kind Kazuya was for trying to buy a manga to cheer him up that led to his death. This made Naoya felt responsible for Kazuya's death. To ease his mother who was still unable to accept Kazuya's death, Naoya started to act like Kazuya to the point he almost believed himself to be Kazuya. However, once his father came back home from his job overseas and argued with his mother, his mother accepted Kazuya's death and Naoya pierced his ear as a proof that he is not Kazuya and made himself forget the day Kazuya died out of guilt.

The resulting guilt caused Naoya's shadow to manifest in Maki's ideal world and takes the identity of Kazuya with the same appearance as Naoya, but his ear is not pierced.

Kei Nanjo: Kei is the son of a rich and secure family that actually, at some point, split off from the Kirijo Group. Yet while he had everything he could want in the physical sense, he was denied the love and care most parents give their children. Alfred, the family's butler, watched over him and showed him love, so Kei was still given the chance to grow up stable and happy. Unfortunately, due to his lush lifestyle and strong confidence, he has trouble with school. Others find it difficult to associate with him, and he tends to feel superior to others around him.

While he may not look it, Kei is actually very strong and agile, though fighting is not one of his specialties. He is, as well, strong mentally, having a knack for dealing well with problematic situations and keeping cool when he makes mistakes. He was taught to take in and analyze every possibility in any situation, making him a good resource in the face of a problem, but when it comes to small problems, or those of a more personal nature, Kei has quite a bit of difficulty.

Masao Inaba: Masao is a troublemaker and class clown, but also a friendly student who doesn't get along with Kei. He seems to have a crush on Maki and frequently visits her in the hospital while being the most protective of her. Being a troublemaker by choice, he takes pride in his graffiti artwork that can be found throughout the city. His hobby puts him at odds with the local police, but he knows they are only looking out for him as he is the only one emotionally phased by the police becoming zombies.

Hidehiko Uesugi: He is the resident class clown of St. Hermelin, relying on stupid puns and old man jokes to get attention. He has an enormous ego. In most people's opinion, he's a "little shithead" and is nicknamed "Brown" because of a bowel movement accident he had in school as a child.

Reiji Kido: Reiji Kido is an antisocial transfer student of St. Hermelin's who rarely shows up for class. It is later revealed if he is picked as a party member that he is the son of Kandori's father and his mistress. He blames his half-brother Takahisa for how his life has turned out and believes that the latter must die. To this end, Reiji skulks around the SEBEC facility, waiting for a chance to confront Kandori. Despite his brusque tendencies, many girls of St. Hermelin take quite a shine to him. When not wandering the streets, Reiji often practices magic tricks with playing cards in his spare time.(And yes, he is shirtless)

As for the story of Megami Ibunroku Persona, set in 1996, Megami Ibunroku Persona centers around Naoya and his classmates at St. Hermelin's in Mikage-cho. Hidehiko talks all of his friends into playing a game called "Persona", which is played much like the ritual game "Bloody Mary". While playing, the students lose consciousness and meet Philemon, who gives them the ability to summon reflections of their personalities, which are known as Personas.

A short time later, the protagonist and several of his friends go to visit Maki, who is ill and bed-ridden. During their visit, they discover that the town is changing and demons are roaming the streets. The party is told by Maki's mother, an engineer working for SEBEC, that the culprit behind the incident is Takahisa Kandori, president of the company.

After taking Maki's mother to the school (the only place in town safe from demons), the protagonist's actions decide the course of the story. If the protagonist opts for going after Kandori, it'll start the SEBEC Chapter which is the main storyline of the game. Alternatively, the protagonist may opt for investigating a series of incidents that occurred in the school eight years ago and start the Snow Queen route, an alternate storyline unrelated to the SEBEC incident. I'm gonna use the SEBEC route.

In the SEBEC route, should Naoya decide to confront SEBEC, he is first joined by an apparently-recovered Maki, then asked by Nanjo to help save Masao, who is captured by demons. The protagonist, Maki and Nanjo rescue Masao, but on the way Maki displays an odd lack of certain memories including being hospitalized.

After rescuing Masao and infiltrating SEBEC, the group confront Kandori. After cornering him inside the DEVA system, a girl in black called Aki appears and knocks the party unconscious. When they awake, they find themselves in a duplicate, idealized version of their world.

The group eventually find and corner Kandori, whose ultimate goal was to become a deity and find meaning in life. After an initial fight, Kandori is possessed by his Persona Nyarlathotep, then finally defeated. Before dying, Kandori reveals that the Maki who has been traveling with the party is the "Ideal Maki", a version of herself from the true Maki's heart. Aki and a girl in white called Mai are also pieces of Maki, and the idealized Mikage-cho was created by Maki, and brought into reality when she unexpectedly linked with the DEVA System.

The group must help Maki avoid Kandori's path towards isolation and his current actions. The group manage to convince Ideal Maki to overlook her original self's unconscious actions and join them in fixing the problem. After rescuing the true Maki's self from the Sea of Souls, where all human life begins, the group must then confront Pandora, an aspect of Maki that wants to use the DEVA System to destroy everything. When Pandora is defeated, all the pieces of Maki merge back into one, reversing the effects on the town and restoring her to full health. Philemon meets with the group and congratulates them on their success.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin

Left to right:

Yukino Mayuzumi: Same as before, except now she's a photographer hired by Maya(below).

Maya Amano: She is famous for her rather unwavering and relentless optimism, something which begins to break down in Eternal Punishment. Maya Amano is a cheerful and compassionate woman, and works as a reporter for the teen magazine Coolest. Maya is also known for her motto, "Let's think positive!"

Maya often takes the role of a leader in the group, even in Persona 2: Innocent Sin where she is not the protagonist. Her unstoppable optimism and kindheartedness inspired and encouraged the group throughout the events of the game, making her an unforgettable force within the world they inhabited. Maya also often cheers the party up with her stuffed rabbit doll, which she calls "Mr. Bunbun." This doll evokes memories of her father. Has a phobia of fire after barely surviving one.

Eikichi "Michel" Mishina: Eikichi is flirtatious(but not peverted;he blushes when they're in the girl's locker room and exclaims that they shouldn't be in there b/c of indecency), self-centered and completely narcissistic. His self-indulgence particularly annoys Lisa Silverman and is referred to in several Contacts. He tends to take what people say too personally and is easily swayed.

Despite his apparent narcissism, he actually has low self-esteem, and acts the way he does to hide it. At home, Eikichi acts completely differently, wearing traditional Japanese clothes and acting respectful. It is stated in Innocent Sin that his hair is not permanently blue as depicted in his artwork; he dyes his hair every day before going to school.

Eikichi is incredibly devoted to his friends and will do anything to help them, and he blames himself if anything happens to them. He cries and blames himself when his friends turn into Shadowmen, and is heartbroken when they disappear for good. When Lisa is depressed, he tells her he is there for her and does his best to cheer her up.

Jun Kurosu/Kashihara: Jun's character is defined by his ambiguity. On the outside, he is asocial, introverted, calculating and actively uses his beauty to manipulate other people. On the inside, however, Jun is rather warm, caring, highly protective of his friends and wants to fulfill the dreams and wishes of humanity, even if his means of achieving this goal are questionable. Additionally, he is afraid of being marginalized by the society he's working to please. During the Aquarius Temple, he discusses the meaning of the sign and dismisses the idea of him having any of the positive traits, but the rest of the team assure him he's wrong. Hobby-wise, Jun understands flower language (花言葉, hanakotoba) and likes astrology. He is also highly intelligent and philosophical; he has a patent for an orthopedic shoe, loves inventing and excels at math and physics. However, due to his antisocial nature, he doesn't like group sports and instead prefers walking.

Jun is heavily implied to be gay, and his present romantic feelings for Tatsuya are suggested to have extended back to their childhood; he's flustered at Maya's insistence that the two of them are alike, and is generally very happy to be likened to Tatsuya. As teenagers, Jun asks Tatsuya out to dinner, assures Tatsuya that he will never leave his side and is considered a serious competitor alongside Lisa for Tatsuya's affections. The player may have Tatsuya choose to confess feelings for Jun, in which case Tatsuya and Jun will be treated as lovers. Jun is also repeatedly stated to have no attraction to women, as evidenced by in-game demon contacts and the Persona 2: Innocent Sin World Book, which mentions female pursuers are better off staying friends.

Tatsuya Suou: A distinct character tic of his present in both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment is his habit of flicking the engraved Zippo lighter Jun gifted to him as a child open and closed. He's also an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and owns a bike of his own in both continuities. Because he is often seen performing maintenance work on his bike and works part time as a mechanic, rumors from Seven Sisters eventually give him the ability to flawlessly pilot any vehicle in Innocent Sin, which he carries over to Eternal Punishment as the Tatsuya from the "Other Side;"(Innocent Sin) the Tatsuya of "This Side,"(Eternal Punishment) however, has no such ability.

In Innocent Sin, although he seemingly projects the image of the quintessential aloof "bad boy" and is exceptionally popular among his peers because of it, Tatsuya is an awkward, somewhat-shy loner who tends to alienate those around him, and is strongly uncomfortable around people who pursue him persistently, either romantically, like Lisa Silverman, or as an acquaintance, like Eikichi Mishina, as a result of the Alaya Shrine incident(Maya and the fire). His relationship with his family is strained; he's envious of and hostile towards his successful older brother, Katsuya, despite Katsuya's best efforts to care for him, ashamed of his disgraced ex-police officer father whom he considers a coward, and disappointed in his mother for remaining passive when his father was discharged from his capacity as a police officer on false accusations.

The one consistent exception to his usual behavior is Jun Kurosu, with whom he shares an exceptionally close bond even within the Masked Circle itself irrespective of whether he is selected as Tatsuya's love interest. The two are repeatedly likened to one another as children and teenagers, by themselves and other characters, each carries a memento of the other, and their exclusive Personas correspond to each other. Tatsuya's emotional reliance on Jun is so great that when Jun's feelings of despair upon being confronted with a duplicate of his mother created by Nyarlathotep nearly cause him to fade from existence,  is able to bring him back solely by reminding him of how alone Tatsuya would be without him.

Originally, Tatsuya was a caring, proud, self-confident person and it's in his nature to not leave people in need. He has a vague feeling in his heart to be a person who can express ideals to others like Maya did when they were young. However, he does not know exactly what to do with his life and spends most of his free time on his bike and mechanic work, seeking economic independence from his family due to his father's disgrace.

Lisa Silverman: A martial arts fanatic and a fan of Bruce Lee, Lisa uses her own fists to defend herself, equipping gloves to improve the force impact.

She is one of the more popular girls at 7 Sisters High, and is the self-proclaimed hottest girl in school. She harbors a crush for Tatsuya because she thinks he is hot enough to boost her self-esteem. She holds an obvious crush on Tatsuya, acting clingy towards him and follows him around with little regard to his feelings on the matter.

Despite her appearance, Lisa usually acts cool to those she is not interested in, and even haughty to those she dislikes. This could be caused by the bullying and xenophobia she experienced from the other local children when she was very young.

She rejects the role of a "traditional" Japanese woman imposed on her by her parents, and feels they are forcing their culture onto her. In response, as a form of rebellion, Lisa is learning to speak Cantonese instead of Japanese. She often mixes both languages (often saying "Aiyah!" and other Cantonese expressions). Lisa also engages in "dangerous" drug use and compensated dating with "dirty" older men for money.

Despite her natural blonde hair and blue eyes, she is unable to speak English (the misconception that she can is the cause of much confusion and annoys her). Lisa's parents never taught her English for unknown reasons, apparently not understanding its significance and importance as a lingua franca(common language), and she resents herself because of it and is reluctant to admit it. Although Lisa tries to learn English, it comes out in the form of heavy Engrish, and Lisa is concerned she will never be able to perfect it.

She often fights with Eikichi. Lisa and Eikichi behave in a similar manner to Kei and Masao from P1 in that they are constantly at each other's throats. During a heated exchange, Eikichi nicknames her "Ginko" (gin means silver in Japanese, and -ko is a common Japanese first name suffix for females) as an insult.

Innocent Sin story: Persona 2: Innocent Sin begins three years after the events of the first Persona, in 1999. The location is Sumaru City, a large fictional metropolitan area set in modern day Japan. Sumaru City becomes cursed after events during the beginning of the game that cause any rumor that spreads enough to become true.

The silent protagonist of the game is Tatsuya Suou. Tatsuya is dragged into the plot by Lisa, a fellow student who idolizes Tatsuya, when conflict between Seven Sisters High School(Sevens) and Kasugayama High(Cuss High) begins. The two come across Eikichi Mishima, the self-proclaimed boss of Cuss High. After getting into a fight, the three play a game summoning the Joker, a mysterious antagonist rumored to appear before anyone that calls him. Anyone who fails to tell Joker their wishes, either because they lack one or refuse to tell him, has their "ideal energy" stolen, reducing them to ambition-less shells called Shadow Selves. Once summoned, Joker claims that the three students had done something terrible to him in the past, and is angered when they do not recognize him. Swearing revenge and wielding an odd Crystal Skull, he departs, leaving the trio confused and eager to learn more about him. Later on they make a point of saying that Tatsuya and the Joker look alike.

Eventually, the three students are joined by Maya Amano and her friend, Yukino Mayuzumi, who returns from the first game and is already familiar with demons and capable of using her Persona. The five then search for Joker, the source of all rumors that spread becoming reality. Their search leads the group to clash with a cult-like following known as the Masked Circle. It is later revealed that the original Masked Circle was the group of friends including Tatsuya, Maya, Lisa, Eikichi, and Jun when they were all kids. After debunking numerous rumors and defeating several members of the Masked Circle, the group meets with Joker, who then reveals himself to be Jun Kurosu, the fifth childhood friend and member of the original Masked Circle. Eventually, the widely spread rumor that the Fuhrer(Hitler) had survived World War II with his secret forces, the Last Battalion, surfaces and his forces invade Sumaru City. Tatsuya and the others fight off both remaining Masked Circle members and the Last Battalion soldiers to obtain the crystal skulls, defeating their own Shadows in the process.

Towards the end of Innocent Sin, Tatsuya and the others board an alien spaceship known as the Xibalba, another rumor that had spawned into reality. In the deepest parts of Xibalba, the group finds the Fuhrer, wielding the Spear of Destiny(the spear that pierced Jesus Christ that is said to leave a mortal wound the second it strikes flesh) and defeats him.

At the conclusion of the game, it is revealed that all of the events had been orchestrated by Nyralathotep in an attempt to show that the negatives of humanity would outshine the positives, contrary to Philemon's beliefs. Nyarlathotep then takes his true form and fights Tatsuya and the others. After the fight, Nyralathotep manipulates Maya Okumura into striking Maya Amano with the Spear of Destiny, killing her quickly. With the prophecy fulfilled, the Earth's rotation suddenly stops, destroying everything on the surface of the planet, save for Sumaru City. Philemon tells Tatsuya that there is a way to prevent Maya's death and stop Nyralathotep from destroying the world. Tatsuya agrees to create a new timeline in which Nyarlathotep is not successful, in exchange for everyone's memories.

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment:

Left to right:

Eriko: In Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, she immediately establishes support with Ulala Serizawa, who shares her love of fortune telling and ghost stories. Though not explicitly revealed in the first Persona game, but in the Persona manga and Persona game, Eriko was in love with Naoya, but hid her true feelings. In Eternal Punishment, it was seen through the Spring of Mirrors at Mt. Iwato that Eriko only musters up the courage to make an intimate promise to him at graduation, saying that in a few years, she would be "a woman that he wouldn't recognize."

Tatsuya Suou(This Side): In Eternal Punishment, Tatsuya is characterized as a fairly passive individual and a brooding figure. Upon Tatsuya's first meeting with Maya, who has no memories of the original timeline, she refers Tatsuya as the "déjà vu kid," swearing that she had seen Tatsuya somewhere. The Tatsuya of "This Side" has a pattern of skipping classes with a friend, Anna Yoshizaka. According to another student from Seven Sisters, Tatsuya always attends school, but skips lectures. This Tatsuya's body is possessed by the Other Side's Tatsuya when he meets Maya for the first time, and incidentally, she falls in love with the other Tatsuya. At the end of the game, he disappears back to the other side, the only human left in the world. he promises Maya that he'll be able to see her again and that he'll rebuild his world.

Baofu: Baofu is an extortionist and a so-called Tap Buster. He claims that he is a native of Taiwan, but is amazingly fluent in Japanese. His weapon of choice is rather unorthodox, ranging from simple coins to special chakrams, as well as any other round object that he can flick with his thumbs, the impact of which deals about the same damage as a gunshot, if not stronger. He initially specializes in wind magic, but his ultimate Persona Prometheus will grant him earth powers later on.

Maya Amano meets him through Chief Todoroki, head of the Kuzunoha Detective Agency, who arranges a meet-up at 2X Slash. They later convene at Parabellum; taking it upon himself to test the new-found property of rumors, where they come true after being spread. After assessing the situation, he joins the party under the pretense of finding out the truth about JOKER and his connection to Tatsuya Suou, who was confined at the Morimoto Sanitarium in Mt. Mifune.

His actual purpose however, is to find and kill Yung Pao, boss of the Taiwanese Mafia Tien Tao Lien, and Tatsuzou Sudou, the foreign minister as well as the secret executive of New World Order.

Baofu's true identity is that of Kaoru Saga, a Japanese public prosecutor who was originally presumed dead. He was marked for death along with his assistant Miki Asai by Tatsuzou Sudou for their running investigation of the money laundering between the Minister of Justice and Tien Tao Lien. Kaoru survived, awakening to Odysseus in the process, but Miki did not. Kaoru has since lived with regret in his heart and promises to avenge her, even if it means going from legal means to illegal ones.

Baofu and Ulala visit Miki's grave upon Nyarlathotep's defeat. Baofu visits Miki's grave to tell her that he has stopped living in the past and has taken down his rumor website, as well as ceasing his wiretapping trade. He is now a man-searcher, and has partnered up with Ulala.

Maya Amano: Maya functions as the silent protagonist in Eternal Punishment. She still writes for Coolest, often working alongside Yukino Mayuzumi. Before the events of the game, she had bumped into a man(Tatsuya from This Side)(This is when Tatsuya from the other side then possessed him soon after) who had felt familiar to her. After this meeting, she also developed a mysterious bruise on her chest which occasionally aches. While working on a story about JOKER, she stumbles upon JOKER himself. He forces Maya, Katsuya, and Ulala to summon their Personas, and they wind up pursuing him.

Ulala Serizawa: Ulala Serizawa is introduced as Maya's roommate and have been friends since high school. She failed a grade due to bad grades which explains their age difference. In the Persona 2 duology, she gains a Persona. She has a minor role as an NPC in Persona 2: Innocent Sin and later as a party member in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.

Ulala is riddled with self-confidence issues, usually depending on men as a self-esteem boost. She is a habitual drinker and also likes to cook; she cleans and cooks for herself and Maya. She's obsessed with fortune telling and loves to go to matchmaking parties.

It is explained that Ulala had the potential to awaken her Persona due to having played the Persona game with Maya long ago.Along with her abilities as a Persona user, she is an expert boxer who is capable of demolishing a punching bag in a few blows. She is known to have bad luck with men which is referenced in the faux Persona 2: Eternal Punishment anime trailer on the fan disc where a photo of Makimura is seen attached onto a punching bag during practice.

Katsuya Suou: In Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Katsuya is depicted by Tatsuya as a harsh, perfectionist authority figure who often fails to understand him in any way. This behavior has been somewhat toned down in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, due to the perspective changing from Tatsuya's point of view to Maya's own.

In Eternal Punishment, he has a strong sense of justice and upholds the law whenever and wherever he can. Although he's straitlaced, Katsuya often drops his guard around Maya Amano (with whom he somewhat developed feelings for), and gets into constant verbal quips with a later ally, Baofu. His awakening to Helios drives him to slowly appreciate cats, despite the fact that he is allergic to them.

During the confrontation with Katsuya's shadow, it is revealed that Katsuya, like his brother in Eternal Punishment, is infatuated with Maya. After this embarrassing revelation, the Suou brothers agree to mutually help each other in protecting her instead of fighting among themselves as Nyarlathotep had intended for them to do. In the end, Maya chooses not to associate with the Suou family anymore to prevent Tatsuya from the new reality's from regaining his memories of the Other Side.

Kei Nanjo: Kei is very verbose with his victory cries, often complimenting his "Nanjo-style swordsmanship" and spouting out philosophical proverbs that suit the occasion.

Eternal Punishment Plot: Eternal Punishment begins when Maya is sent to write a story about the Joker phenomenon: according to rumor, if someone phones their own number, the Joker will kill on request. Going to Sevens, she, Ulala, and Katsuya find the school principal murdered by the Joker. The Joker then attacks them, forcing each of them to summon their Personas. After the Joker knocks them out, Philemon contacts them and warns of a growing danger to the city.

After waking, the three pursue the Joker into the school clock tower, where he attempts for force a student to remember the events of Innocent Sin. They are saved by Tatsuya, who tells Maya to forget about him. After Katsuya is removed from the case by his superior Captain Shimazu, he teams up with Maya and Ulala to find the Joker. They eventually ally with Baofu, who believes that Tatsuya Sudou and his father Tatsuzou Sudou are involved with the Joker. Going to the mental institution where Sudou is held, they discover that Tatsuzou sent Taiwanese Mafia hitmen to kill Sudou.

Once confronted, Sudou admits that he is the Joker, and reveals that he is attempting to trigger the reappearance of the Other Side. Pursuing him to the Sky Museum, the party runs into Tatsuya and saves Jun from Sudou after Sudou sets the building on fire. After escaping with the museum's visitors on a blimp, an injured Sudou makes a final attack that damages the blimp before Tatsuya kills him. When the party regroup, Tatsuya has vanished.

Upon their return, the party continue to investigate Tatsuzou's activities, and find that negative feelings are turning other people into new "Jokers", who are in turn being kidnapped by Tatsuzou's agents. The party eventually learn that Tatsuzou and a secret organization he leads, the New World Order, are manipulating Sumaru's government, corporations, and media for his own ends.

After this, they hear of two others, Kei and Eriko, investigating the New World Order and their links with the Joker curse and an increasingly prevalent fortune telling craze used to manipulate the spread of rumors: they are involved due to the possible involvement of Kandori, a former enemy of theirs, who is posing as Tatsuzou's secretary.

Depending on the party's actions at this point, either Kei or Eriko will join their party as they go to investigate the holding area for the new Jokers. Upon arriving, they find Eikichi captured by Kandori while looking for a friend. While Kandori attempts to awaken Eikichi's memories of the Other Side, Tatsuya intervenes and enables the party and Eikichi to escape. The group then save Lisa and her girl group, the Muses, from their promoter, another Order member, with help from Tatsuya, who again vanishes afterwards.

Through a friendly informant in the Police, they learn the New World Order's ultimate goal: to raise Sumaru City in the rumor-generated spaceship "Torifune", and trigger the destruction of the Earth's surface by sacred dragons by creating a concentration of Kegare to create a new world free of sin. The only way to stop the plan's fulfillment is defeating the Order.

After failing to corner Tatsuzou and puzzled about Tatsuya's motives, the party finally persuade Tatsuya to reveal the truth. During the original confrontation with Nyarlathotep, Maya was killed, prompting the rest of the group (Tatsuya, Lisa, Jun and Eikichi) to reset events.

Tatsuya refused to forget the events of the Other Side, creating a dangerous loophole: if all the other members of the original group could be forced to remember, the Other Side would be brought back into existence, destroying the present reality. After revealing this, Tatsuya is allowed to join the party in place of either Kei or Eriko. After returning to Sumaru proper, the city is raised by Tatsuzou as part of Torifune. Successfully infiltrating Torifune and defeating Tatsuzou and his "god" Gozen, the city returns to the surface, but the party are drawn into the Collective Unconscious by Nyarlathotep.

Making their way into his domain, they discover Nyarlathotep has kidnapped Eikichi, Lisa and Jun in an effort to force their memories of the Other Side into reality. Defeating the Shadow Selves guarding them, the party saves each of them, then confront Nyarlathotep, who mocks Tatsuya for refusing to fulfill his part of Philemon's agreement.

After Nyarlathotep is defeated, Tatsuya fulfills his side of the bargain, and after saying his final goodbyes separates his Other Side consciousness from his current self. With the city returned to normal and any specific memories of the Other Side gone, the party return to their normal lives. The final scene shows Maya walking past Tatsuya. Time freezes for a moment and Maya smiles; it is ambiguous if she remembers anything.

Personally, I'm going to link/edit this ending to make the crossover work. It'll also explain the existance of the P3P Protag, Minako Arisato.
