Chapter 3.

Third Person

After The First Giant War

The war was over, it was true. Perseus had done his part, and he had won.

The Earth and her giants had waged war on the Olympians, and had lost. Even with his modesty, Perseus couldn't deny that a large part of that was him. He led them to victory. It was him who had discovered the only weakness of the Giants. It was all him. And now it was finished.

Only, it didn't feel that way. The war didn't feel over.

Maybe it was because over the past few years, he had become so battle ridden, that it had become a part of him. Maybe there was something inside him that longed to fight. Maybe it really wasn't over for him.

Even if that was true...it was something else. Perseus could feel it deep in his bones.

While his gift from the Fates was no doubtfully useful, it was a curse as well as a blessing. Seeing fate...he knew what he had to do. He knew when he was allowed to interfere, and what he was allowed to interfere in. But he also so things he couldn't change. Things he knew would come to pass...bad things...things that he couldn't do anything about. That was the worst.

No. Knowing...he could live with that for the most part. It was when he wasn't shown the whole picture...when he had no idea what the outcome was...that was the worst by far. The feeling of absolute helplessness. He hated it.

It had been a week since all was set and done. A week since the worst war the world had ever seen was won. A week since anyone had heard from Perseus.

He didn't know what to do with himself. It had been a while since that had happened. Ever since the war had ended, he had yet to receive any visions. He was stumbling in the dark.

So, he decided to leave it all. Take a break. Be free to see what else life had to offer before he gave himself more opportunities to die in battle.

He decided to travel the world. Perseus, regardless of all his amazing accomplishments, had never left Greece. He had yet to explore past her boundaries. So far, he had no regrets. But that could change, and he didn't want it to.

He was aware what he was leaving behind. His father...Poseidon loved him. Adored him. Favored him. Even before he played a part in saving the gods and civilization. Apollo, Hermes, Artemis...they were his friends. He was as close to them as he would be his siblings if he had any. Zoe...his new friend whom he felt a bond that he would share with a sister. He was leaving them and the people of Greece, he knew...but he also felt it was for the best.

After all...even without a vision, he knew...somehow...someday...he'd see them again. After all...they were Immortal.

...

Six Months Later

"So, you've discovered my plan, have you?" A sleepy voice echoed in his brain.

"Believe what you want to," Perseus answered her coldly. He had just woken up in a grassy field in the middle of nowhere. And then the presence of his greatest enemy came over him.

"You poor, pathetic demigod...you actually believed you had a chance...you believed you could survive..."

"I do." Perseus agreed.

"Oh? And why would that be?" Gaea's sleepy drawl seemed amused.

"You need me. Maybe not now. But you will, won't you? You are patient. You care little for Kronos...he failed you. So you are biding your time...waiting for the failed return of the Titans...so when the Second Titan War is won once again by the gods...the will be weak... They won't see you coming, and you will rise with your Giants and Wake, taking what you believe is yours, once and for all..."

"You do know more than I have given you credit for, that's true..." Gaea laughed. "You are right, as usual, Perseus. I want the strongest blood possible to wake up from. The heroes of Olympus. One male and one female. One will be you. One will be another. But I do feel like I need to keep an eye on you...you have impressed me, and infuriated me beyond what I thought possible. You have proved capable and unpredictable. And you could warn the gods of what is coming...and you could probably guess that I can't have that...so maybe you need a time-out for a few thousand years. Until I am ready."

Perseus blood ran cold. "No..."

"Oh, yes." Gaea's laugh, cold and cruel, echoed all around him. "I hope you enjoy your new prison...you will be there for a long...long time..."

And her laugh was the last thing he heard as the ground opened up beneath him...and he plummeted into the abyss...

...

The years went by slowly. Painfully. Tartarus was the most horrible thing Perseus had the displeasure of experiencing. It didn't help that he was tortured to the brink of death every day. Of course, he wasn't sure if they were consistent...time in Tartarus...hard. The personification of the Pit...Tartarus himself...was his warden, for lack of better term. And while he was down there...he saw. He saaw everything. He knew he could escape. But he also knew he had to wait. So wait, he did...

Waited thousands of years...until, finally, it was time...

Perseus...the demigod...the legend...the hero...was back.

Dramatic, huh? I know. That was the point, though. Hey, guys. Two chapters! I'm feeling accomplished. So, I will try to update this story, as well as my others. I am also going to post to Prologue and first two chapters of a novel I've been working on...I really thing it is going to be good. It is called Hereditary, and it isn't a fanficiton. Has absolutely nothing to do with Percy Jackson. It is an original story-my original story, and I would really appreciate it if you guys check it out once it is up, and give me feedback. I think that's all I've got to say at the moment, so I'm going to leave it.

Stay awesome, and keep reading!
